This is one of the best Italian restaurants. The pizza is wonderful. The restaurant itself is a bit noisy - but the food makes up for it. Service is always great. If you are going for dinner = suggest you get there before 5:00 p.m. - cause it gets real busy. The wait however is worth it.

Service was so bad, many people standing behind the bar but everyone was ignoring me or watching tv when I was trying to place an order to go so I walked out. Prices are high too. Place has a lot of customers only because it's out in a community with no other restaurants and it's 20 miles to the nearest grocery store or restaurant.

The worst italian food ever. Not only is the service terrible, slow, and rude but the red sauce on every dish seems like it's been thinned out with water to make it go farther. Their pizza crust was bland and tasteless. It's fitting, I guess, that they are inside of an old Circle-K store building because their food tastes about the same as what you find at a Circle-K.

I had to laugh at the lady that said in her review that she had been there several times and was never happy! HELLO! Why would you continue to go there if you are never happy. I've been there many times and the food and service has always been good. I'm glad it's close to home. It gets busy but I've never had a bad experience. The pizza is great!

Probably some of the worst Italian food we have ever eaten and we are Italian! Also, the owners refuse to separate the checks for each diner and have a horrible attitude that in no way promotes good customer service. You would be better off opening a jar of Prego and boiling some pasta at home.

Not bad for being all the way out on Corona. Having lived in cities with Little Italys, I don't think this would survive where there was great Italian food. The pizza is good enough to keep me from driving all the way into town to get pizza, but not blow your mind good. Their spaghetti sauce is bland. The dining area is very small, often creating long waits for moderate business. The decor is outdated and in need of an update. Still, it's not terrible, nor is it great. It's just okay. They close early so if you want to eat, get there early. They are also not open on Sunday or Monday. I absolutely respect their decision to be closed on Sundays.

I've been eating the delicious food the Argenziano family makes for 22 years, and it just gets better and better. They make their red sauce, Italian dressing and dough from scratch, and they are unbelievable. Some of my favorite things to eat there are the pizza, Rays Special sub, chicken parm sub, baked ziti, lasagna, stuffed shells and the French fries. I've never had anything I didn't like there, but it would be tacky to list the whole menu! Aside from the food, the Argenzianos are the nicest people, and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Its a bit of a drive from town, but its more than worth it!

Argenziano's is apparently a well known name in this area of Tucson when it comes to Italian food. The place was crowded on a Friday night as is to be expected. However, we still landed a table without too much of a hassle. One odd "rule" they had was that they wouldn't give one person in our party a table until everyone had arrived. I guess this means they don't take reservations as well? Strange policy that wasn't too welcoming. We wanted to try the pizza since it was a big part of the buzz around the restaurant. We were told it was going to be an hour and fifteen minutes for the pizza. Unbelievable! We made the best of the situation by ordering some calamari and a bottle of wine. The bread they brought out wasn't warm at all and was the plainest tasting "fresh bread" I've ever had at any Italian restaurant. It made me worry about how the pizza dough was going to compare. They only brought out one bread ball per person and never offered to bring more. The calamari was nice and simply prepared with a light breading and basic marinara sauce. Nothing outstanding or unusual about it. The pizza ended up arriving sooner than we were quoted, halfway through our appetizer. Timing is definitely off at this place. No one likes rearranging plates on a crowded table before you've finished a dish to make room for everything you ordered. The pizza was good. Again, it wasn't spectacular. It was just a decent pizza. The dough was a little bland but not as bad as their bread. The crust was the type that had lots of excess flour left on it so it was notably dry. Argenziano's seems to be a favorite with the locals, catering to the known regulars and they often gave long demonstrative extended greetings in the middle of the restaurant. That's nice if you're one of them. The restaurant was a large wide open space filled with tables. That's basically it. Not much to look at, no cozy booths or areas that created a nice ambiance. When I think of a generations-deep family run Italian restaurant this is not at all what I picture. A lot of their business seemed to be pizza take out orders. That'll most likely be my approach if I choose to eat this food again.

We don't have a lot of establishments here in Corona, but my wife and I are very thankful to have Argenzianos out here. Great Italian food, friendly staff and fair prices. Best pizza we have found in all of the Tucson area. Seafood soup is fantastic. Plenty of seafood and a nice amount of spice. Chicken parm dish is enough for two! Give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.

Dang... I just had a slice; it was pretty damn good! The cheese had a nice "New York" pizza flavor going for it, the sauce was sweet and maintained a pleasant balance of basal and garlic, while the crust was crisp and delicious. I have never actually been there, nor had the pizza while hot, as the slice I just ate was leftover. You should check it out though if you are in the area!

Looking for great Italian food in Tucson? This is the place......a little off the beaten path but well worth the drive. Sauce makes just about any Italian dish and this place does not disappoint with a thick and flavorful sauce accenting every dish. The grilled Italian sub is fantastic but the pasta dishes and pizza bring me back to the closest thing I've had since Little Italy NY.

I've lived within walking distance from this little Italian gem for over 10 years, and I for one am thankful for its existence for various reasons. It's great for those nights I'm not up for cooking, and perfect when family or company are in town. Considering this restaurant started out as a little pizzeria, it's definitely impressive how it has still managed to keep its "lil hometown" feel. Most definitely worth a try. Yes, prices are a bit higher than they were a some years back, but portion sizes have remained generous, and the quality is still great. That's certainly more than can be said for many restaurants these days. For those reviews that complain about Ray's attitude, well he's a true east coast no b.s kinda of guy. He's not going to kiss your booty, or wash your feet to convince you to eat at his establishment. He has a dry sense of humor, and the only way he feels he needs to please anyone is through treating his family, and staff with respect, and placing the rest into his good home style Italian/American cooking! There is no need for anything else, the food speaks for itself. If you're interested in giving this place a try, I'd say don't hesitate. I personally prefer eating as takeout, rather than dinning in. The building is small, however, clean. It can be a tad noisy, but that's, because it's jammed packed literally all the time for dinner. Service has always been good any one of the number of times that I've dined in. This Italian/American restaurant most certainly speaks for itself. It's a staple around these parts, and its not because it's the only thing out here. It's because of the fact that for many years Ray and family have consistently provided great food, and service. For me, and my family there really isn't any other Italian restaurant that we care for, or frequent as we do here. Thanks Ray & family for continuing to provide excellent, friendly service, and great tasting food. Reminds me of home every time I order.

With limited dining options out in Vail/Corona de Tucson - this place is a little gem. It is family owned and operated and they make all of the customers feel right at home. It is located in a stand alone building which is not much to look at from the outside, but inside - it reminds me of this throwback 70's Italian restaurant you would see back east. I have never had a bad meal or service here. Their pizza is delicious, sandwiches hearty and the entree's are fantastic. So here is what I like on the menu and recommend - for Pizza - the Ray's special (it is like a deluxe combination) for Sandwich - Meatball ALL the way (the vegetarian is VERY good as well) for Entree - the stuffed ravioli, either shrimp or mushroom... covered in cream sauce = YUM. couple of tips - their Fries are to DIE for, they are fresh cut, and an order comes in a big basket so enough to share for sure. for dessert - Cannoli hands down, they do it RIGHT.

A great place for a nice evening out. The staff is friendly and helpful. Love grabbing a bite to eat here or to go. Thanks for giving us a great place in Corona to eat.

Argenziano's is amazing. Best eggplant parmesan ever. Their sausage is wonderful and their seafood soup is to die for. If you want something lighter I'd highly recommend the antipasto salad. The dressing is incredible. Argenziano's doesn't skimp on the garlic. It's Italian done right!!!

Pros: cheesy garlic bread; pizza Cons: horribly noisy; way too much "how are you doing" - honestly, let me actually eat a full bite between visits; management attitude I've eaten here 3 times in the past 3 years. Last night I was reminded again why I don't come back. The first time I had stuffed shells. Pretty good, but the red sauce was way too sweet. I was also seated in a very, very busy area - where the wait staff came out from the bar and kitchen. Not enjoyable. Second time I simply ordered the garlic breadsticks to go. VERY tasty! Last night I took friends. Our cheesy garlic bread appetizer was great! Calamari was ok. Not excellent, not horrible. Our food arrived, but my order was not right. My server offered to re-fire, but I declined as I preferred to actually eat WITH my companions. Apparently the pizzas my party ate were excellent. Generally when a restaurant screws up your order, you receive an apology and a heartfelt "how can I make this better for you" Perhaps if I were a constant customer I would have been treated differently... Instead my companion was also questioned as to my order. "Really? It was eggplant parm? Not chicken?" I have not eaten chicken parm in decades, that would never be an order for me. Sorry the server wrote chicken (I looked at the order later), perhaps she heard '*** parm' and assumed chicken. As other reviewers have stated, the noise level is high. Still, not the customer's issue. The bill came with me charged full price for the wrong entree. Explaining that you didn't charge one of the kids for their second soda because of the issue made no sense. Apparently no one questions management. We appeared to anger her because we questioned why charge full price for the wrong meal. Since the server offered to re-fire and I refused, apparently that meant I was fully responsible for the wrong food. My dogs may have enjoyed the chicken that I was brought instead of the eggplant parmesan I ordered, but it was taken away by management, presumably to be thrown away. I was then charged for the sides that came with the order - which I had actually eaten. Management - listen to your customers. Yes you are a small business, but you will be even smaller if you treat others the same way you treated my and my party of four. I have no intentions of returning. When you or your staff makes a mistake, own up to it; don't make it the customer's problem.

Never have had a bad experience here. The food is great and the service level is high. Busy nights there is a wait, but if you come a little later (7:30) you can usually miss the rush. We typically go 2-3 times a month. You can easily feed a family of four very inexpensively. Or add on some fantastic appetizers and still walk away feeling like you had a good value. This is family run and therefore staff turnover is low and qualify all around is consistent.

Beautiful drive down from Tucson on Houghton. Went there to meet friends from Green Valley, roughly half way for both of us. The food was so-so, house salad dressing was the best part of the meal. Noisy, noisy, noisy. But it was a beautiful day for a drive to see friends.

Below average food in large portions does not make it better. Eggplant Parm was was overcooked and spent way too much time under the salamander. Cheese was burnt black, spaghetti was undercooked, and the sauce separated into swampy, greasy water and lumpy tomato compote. Sausage and peppers was a mess. Pepper chunks too big to eat without cutting each and every one, and the sausage was sliced too thin and was cooked until the edge curled up (hint: that's too long). Service was minimal---take order, bring food to table, disappear. Also got to watch the kitchen and wait staff eat at the bar and then handle food and beverage without washing their hands. Nice. Also, nothing like getting a draft beer in a dirty glass, and filled 2" below the rim. I live in Virginia 8 months a year and Corona de Tucson 4 months a year. It's clear I'll need to get Italian food in Virginia. All said, the portion sizes are huge. Still, not a great value.

Love this place. Eggplant parm is the best I have had and surprisingly, for an Italian restaurant, the wings are awesome. I have had several pizzas, always going back to the Ray's Special as a favorite. It is very laid back on service but top notch quality and consistency.

    (5)
  • Dreamerr L.

I heard that the pizza and wings were good so I had to try them. I have now had both twice and I will say for Tucson the pizza is fairly good. I give the pizza a Tucson five stars. The wings are good as well and priced very well even with the new price raise. They use tomato sauce combo which is interesting but still a win. The tomato sauce taste way better on the wings then it did on the typical chicken parm. I think I will be skipping my normal ordering at an Italian restaurant and stick with wings and pizza at this place. The pizza price was par for Tucson as well.

Love this place! Great Italian food that reminds me of back home (South Jersey/Philadelphia area). The calzone, eggplant parm & pizza are delish and each time I order takeout, the joint is packed.

Excellent restaurant with a nice variety of VERY outstanding quizine for lunch or dinner. We get the pizza as an appetizer and then order dinner. The seafood soup is really special & is a huge portion. Count on taking left over with you when you leave. We usually have a whole other meal of left overs. Service is enthusiastic & friendly. And . . . the beer is cold.

I have been to Argenzianos several times now, and I'm never happy. I don't like the food, in my opinion microwave pizza tastes better, and cheaper, and service is mediocre.

  • Dj S.

The price is decent for the amount that we get! The servings are enough for two meals to be honest! When we went, they were pretty busy, but we still got seated within 5 minutes, which was nice. The parking is difficult. The pizza flavor is AMAZING! The service was pretty good considering how busy they were. They are pretty noisy, so if you are looking for a quiet dinner, this is not the place for you. I highly recommend this place if you are seeking a good Italian dinner!

We drive out here regularly for the seafood soup. Rich, spicy broth with tons of seafood so you get a mouthful of unique flavors in every bite. The service is efficient and nicely polite without being intrusive. They also are quite accommodating. My wife, while dieting, asked the server to leave the pasta out of the soup and they did so while still filling the bowl with even more broth and seafood. Nice! The simple salad is always good with nice crisp greens and a bright dressing and the hard rolls are tasty, as well, though it would be nice if they were warmed up a bit. I have also enjoy the wedding soup on occasion. It also has a nice peppery broth. I've tried the chicken fettuccine Alfredo which is rich and thick and wonderful with lots of meat and calories. I don't really need to eat that many calories in one sitting so I deceive myself by taking half of it home to eat for lunch the next day, but all that does is screw up a diet for two days. We've also combined the chicken parmesan and eggplant parmesan menu items getting a bit of the best of both worlds. The portions are huge and the variety is nice. The red sauce could be a bit more spicy, but tastes great. The atmosphere is 'family' which I like, but some might find off putting. I love it when what must be the owner's cute little granddaughters shout out, "Welcome to Argenziano's!" as you walk in the door. Makes you feel like family. The bathrooms are weirdly placed and the place looks a bit odd since it is an old Circle K building, but the view from the windows can be amazing when the summer monsoons come rolling in or the sky turns a million shades of purple, red, and orange as the sun goes down. This place is well worth the drive.

If you have a grandma then you will appreciate the atmosphere, energy and food that Agrenziano's presents. If you don't have a grandma or have never been to Chicago and wonder what it's like, then head over here for some dinner. Be forewarned, it's the only game in town in its neck of the woods, Corona de Tucson, so you may have to wait for your FaceTime with Mindy or one of the other busy waitresses. Luckily, we were lucky to fit in and enjoyed appetizers or garlic bread and fresh french fries, the likes of which would normally be paired with a lovely Italian Sub instead of chips- skin on! Dinner came to us quickly and we enjoyed: linguine with clam sauce, a personal 10" pepperoni pizza, spaghetti with a meatball, baked spaghetti and (my favorite) Eggplant Parmesan. You might be seated next to a huge Italian family or a two-top on a date, you just never know at Agrenziano's but I know one thing for certain: my plumber wasn't kidding- it really is worth checking out!

With the raving reviews on their pizza I've been hearing, I had to try them. The service was OK. The crust was OK. The toppings tasted like CANNED?! Selection for the toppings was ~10 items. Sorry, but it was nothing I would recommend to my friends.

  • Yves J.

We had two decent sandwiches. They made the Philly with Marinara sauce and Special sandwich had a little too much Italian dressing. It was good but the vinegar was a little overpowering. The server was pretty good. The ambiance reminded me of Italy. However, some of the furnishing were a bit commercial. I'm not sure where their family is from but the food reminded me of the food I eat while I lived in Northern Italy. I think they pulled off the setting pretty good. I will this place again and try a more traditional Italian dinner instead of the sandwiches. I'd encourage you all to give them a try. I will try their cappuccino, if they have it. If it's good...then I know they're true Italian cooks. I miss the great cappuccinos from Italy. Ok, back to the review. The 20 minute ride from downtown Tucson is worth the drive.

The couple of sandwiches we've had there were pretty good...a bit overly toasted rolls...they give you a sandwich ONLY...at around 9.00+ each that's a bit pricy. They are the ONLY game in town...the ONLY place...I think they take advantage of that. Nice wait staff...good iced tea too.

Being from New Jersey (not Italian myself, though), I've eaten at a lot of Italian eateries, from the lowliest pizzeria to formal restaurants. They've ranged from terrible to sublime, and this place, while not deserving of a one star, is barely passable as Italian. My brother told me this place used to be a convenience store, which is apparent because the acoustics are terrible. You can still see the fridges that probably used to house Red Bulls or eggs, which is kind of amusing in a diversionary sort of way. The bathrooms are next to the kitchen's sinks, so it was sort of weird walking by a dishwasher while on my way to facilities. It had tacky Italian stuff everywhere; in short, it needs more of makeover to hide the convenience store chic. The place was PACKED for a Tuesday night though, and seems to double as the local Cheers. Kinda cool. The food was pizzeria food, with pizza, calzones, and standard pasta/meat combos. Looks like most of the food was pre-made or pre-bought. The red sauce was just...not good. Not terrible. But not great like a homemade gravy should be. The salad was decent, and the dressing was passable if a bit too acidic. At least warm up the rolls, guys. If you're the only game in town, it can explain the mediocrity, but if another place decides to open that offers better atmosphere and food, they're in trouble.

  • Lizette L.

Owner was rude! Went to visit friends and ordered takeout. I was told there would be a 45 minute wait. Ok, they mentioned they were busy. I showed up to get my order and they said it would be another half hour wait because they were backed up. I know they misplaced my order but having no other options out there, I decided to wait. When I finally got the order, one of the pizzas wasn't what I ordered. when I mentioned it to Ray, he said "well they wrote down what you called in". Ray the owner was rude and dismissive! I guess since it's the only place to eat, he feels he can treat customers this way? I will not be returning to this restaurant again.

Considering this ust to be a Circle K convenience store, the food and service here was really good! The atmosphere can use a little "updating" Maybe some curtains and a few candles here and there! We will defiantly be returning, as my husband loves Italian food! :)

Argenziano's has been recommended to us so many times, that we took the long, long trip out there today to see what all the fuss is about. From my house to the restaurant (each was) is 23 miles. 23 miles! It is located on Houghton road, 7 miles (I clocked it) past I-10. Now that is a long way to drive for good Italian food, but it was worth the drive, this time anyway. I had the sausage and peppers over penne, which was delicious. The sauce had a good flavor (could have been a bit spicier), and the italian sausage was delicious. The only knock is that the bell peppers were in huge chunks, and I would have preferred them more bite sized. My husband's spaghetti tasted fine, but the sauce was a bit watery. As noted in other reviews, the house Italian dressing is great. Lots and lots of garlic. Prices were reasonable, and the service was great, but unfortunately, it's too far outside of my circle to become a regular destination.

  • Melissa W.

Great Italian comfort food, nothing pretentious. I love the calzone and my husband loves the pasta with sausage. I was actually impressed when I tried his and really liked it as I'm not a big fan of sausages in general. It was too spicy for me to order for myself but that one bite was delish! The neighborhoods south and west of Corona de Tucson are growing and word is getting out about this place because it is easier than driving into town. Maybe someday they'll have the clout to relocate to a nicer, bigger building. As stated, it is clean and the staff are nice enough. Only complaint is that I too have encountered the random closing. Tried to take my out of town family there one night only to find a hand written note saying closed for the week. :( I believe they are also closed on Mondays, but double check for yourself.

Argenziano's is one of the best Italian eateries I've ever experienced. It is a way out of city limit, but it's about a 2 second car ride from my house. We usually get the pizza, which is extremely tasty, as all the toppings are top-notch. The cheese is great, the peperoni's are slightly spicy, the mushrooms are thick, the red-sauce is delicious. The sandwiches aren't bad either, and the fries are yummy. The pasta dishes are also yummy. In short, I've never had anything there that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. The acoustics are troublesome at times. The building is an old Circle-K, so it can get very loud. The staff is always friendly and capable. In conclusion, this is a fantastic place to eat, and I'm very happy it's my "neighborhood" restaurant.

Wasn't too impressed about this place and it's way too pricey. But I guess when there's no other restaurants anywhere nearby, they think they're able to charge so much.

Rays has the best pizza around, you can even get take out too, but their true hit is the seafood soup, it's to die for. Totally worth the 7 mile drive south of I-10 down Houghton.

The food at Argenziano's is great! It's a small, family-owned restaurant kind of far from Tucson proper, but great for those of us who live in the Corona de Tucson / Vail area of town. Fast pick-up service for the days that you want to take food home and enjoy it. The portions are a good size, and I've had a lot of the items on their older menu, but haven't tried many of the newer things because I keep going back to the stuff I love. =) Their pizza is tasty (except their mushrooms are canned), their sausage and pepper penne is delicious and huge, their meatballs are savory, and I love their Italian wedding soup! The service can be a little hit or miss, and the dining area is a little tight, but with the population in the area growing so fast, it's easy to see why it's so crowded in the evenings. But the food (and for us, not having to drive into town) is worth it.

I've eaten at a lot of good Italian restaurants back in Philadelphia and grew up eating authentic Italian food. Having eaten at Argenziano's many times since moving to Corona de Tucson, I found most of the food is average at best. The tomato sauce (or gravy for the Italians out there) is not very good at all. The Philly Cheese Steak is not even close to authentic. The stuffed shells & ravioli seem like the same that I get at the local grocery store in the frozen food section. The pizza is also mediocre at best. The do serve beer & wine. As for the atmosphere, it's noisy & people are sitting close together. And the restaurant is closed on Sunday & Monday...not very convenient at times. Keep in mind, there's no real local competition for this restaurant. There's a sandwich shop next door at a gas station. Otherwise, it's a good 20 minute ride to the nearest eatery.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large.
