Family-owned...for years! Located between Tucson & Nogales in the heart of the Santa Cruz Valley. They are not only purveyors of chili products, they are manufacturers, too. They grow chili peppers in their own fields, and pick them at the peak of flavor. They process them into a variety of different products, so you are only getting the best and the freshest. Who knew there were so many different varieties and options? The chili many products reflect the Mexican and Western cultures that are intertwined in the Santa Cruz Valley. Along with their own Santa Cruz products, you can purchase a wide variety of southwestern foods, cookbooks and herbs. Take your time strolling through the place, enjoy the artifacts on display, and sample the pastes, sauces and salsas. You just might find that spice you've been searching for!
Another place to bring visiting friends and family is Santa Cruz Chili & Spice Company located in Tumacacori. It's a small store that sells Santa Cruz Chili Products as well as a wide variety of gourmet spices and herbs. My recommendations: Red Chili Powder - Excellent on eggs over easy! By the way, not hot at all! Just rich flavor! Red Chili Paste - Just add meat (beef) to make incredible Chili Con Carne! Recommend you cook it a slow crock pot! Comes in small jars (waste of money if you ask me) but don't fret you can super size to the 6.35 lbs (1 gal) can!!! Green Chili Paste - Add meat (pork) and onions (optional: potatoes & bell peppers) for some awesome Chili Verde. Sorry, only comes in jars :( Spice Packets: Taco Meat Seasoning Pinto Bean Seasoning (Excellent) Carne Asada seasoning (Ka-Pow!) Store hours Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm Saturday:10am - 5pm (Summer hours: 10am - 3pm) Sunday: Closed NOTE: You plan a great day by stopping here as well as visting the Spanish Mission San José de Tumacácori which was established in January 1691 by Jesuit Father Eusebio Francisco Kino just a few hundred meters down the street and the Wisdom Cafe for lunch further past that on the frontage road.
There isn't a spice you need that you can't find here! Wonderful selection and very reasonable prices. Like things HOT and SPICY. Well this is YOUR place! A nice selection of cookbooks too. I take all my out of town friends here and they always find plenty of things to take back home. They have a website and they ship.

Back with a group of 10. This is a tough crowd but now we're done. It was mayhem and the waitress has my admiration. Our orders spanned the menu. Had the dessert burro but not the limited edition ribs.
I'm biased here! Been here numerous times and always have excellent service! As usual I share the tampiquena and it's fantastic! However my rave is the margaritas......2 and your nice and fuzzy feeling inside! It is a local southern arizona restaurant that will not disappoint!
I have enjoyed dining at Wisdoms Restaurant during the past twelve years that I have made the Santa Cruz Valley my home. This is the finest Mexican restaurant in the Southwest! The food and service is consistently the finest available! The dining environment is historic and yet inviting and the antique bar is a great place to wait for your table. I recommend reservations, due to its excellence, many patrons drive more than a hundred miles to experience what the Wisdom Family has to offer. Enjoy!

Disappointed, Dissatisfied, Mortified would best describe the experience of our group of 12 that drove down from Green Valley for dinner and fireworks on Independence Day. The restaurant was busy, the service slow and not attentive. Had to flag a server down for beverage and bread refills. We ordered the lasagna which in the past has been good. This time not. It was nothing more that Bolognese with some cheese on top. There was no layering, consistency or flavor. My wife called this to the attention of the server who had the proprietor, Melinda come over and make a public spectacle of herself loudly proclaiming that in their 18 years, no one had ever complained about her husband's lasagna. If that were not enough, from across the room she told my spouse that the meal would be taken off the bill, but "don't come back." Another gentlemen in our party ordered a breaded lamb chop dish. These were the thin chops off the rack. They were very over fried to a crisp. When he commented, Melinda accused him of being rude. Others in our party found the food to be lackluster and bland. Not what one would expect for savory Italian dishes. So I get the part about the food. Any restaurant/chef can have an off night. It happens to the best of places. The formula for return customers is service; be gracious and make it right. Melinda seemed to have taken the criticism of the food very personally and deflected her anger back at the patrons. That is inexcusable. Nothing good can happen from that. We live in a small community connected very socially. Word will spread about this unfortunate experience. Melinda will not have to worry about our return. We won't be coming back.
Beautiful view from the patio! Just wished they served food out there. They might normally but the night we were there they were apparently shorthanded. The food was ok. We don't normally eat Italian but we were with a large group that wanted to go. I had the pasta with shrimp and zucchini. It might have been better with a white sauce - not a fan of the red. The bread before dinner was excellent, as was the wine. I wouldn't recommend the ports they had available for after dinner though. The bartender was kind enough to give us a sample first though. The service was excellent and very friendly. If they group wants to go again, we would not be opposed. I would definitely like to try some other things on the menu.
Best Italian food I've had since I moved to Arizona 20 years ago! Fresh baked bread with olive oil & balsamic vinegar started us off. We shared an arugula salad topped with fresh grilled peaches. It was plenty big enough for two. I had their homemade pasta with meat sauce, and my dining companion had the fettuccine with sausage. A nice half carafe of wine complimented dinner! The atmosphere is fun with a view of the Santa Rita mountains out the windows. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other specialties!
