Had a wonderful time here on Friday for my husband's birthday. Was able to make reservation through Open Table, yay got my points! I am afamiliar with this place from its CHicago burbs location, and this Tucson one did not dissapoint. Much like a speakeasy, this 1940's awesome dim-lit, quiet resturant is so relaxing. There was even an event booked inthe bar but I was unable to hear any of it in the main dining area. Was seated right away in the cosy dining room. The menu is small but is focused on seafood and steak, what else would you expect?? Several choices for everyone. Our sever Forrest was great with his recommendations. I went with the shrimp and lobster bisque to start. Yum! It was so delicate with a slight sherry taste. I couldnt have eaten more than the cup it was so rich and delightful. Also had the asian inspired calamari, delicious if you are a fan of sweet chili sauce. Main course I went with the steak and lobster combo. The lobster left something to be desired, but not flawed. My expereince made me feel relaxed, happy, and I left so full it hurt. You may have to open up your wallet for this one but it does not dissapoint. Faves: Bisque, calamari

I was a part of a party that recently visited Sullivan's for dessert. I can see someone else from the party already made a review, but I will add my two cents to Teresa's account. The timeline she provided was being very generous to the manager. We waited a full half hour AFTER paying for the promised manager to arrive. It became increasingly uncomfortable since we had expressed fully in the beginning that if there weren't any bottles available it was perfectly ok. We knew from the start it was a long shot request. But the server seemed to show up each time we had decided we'd waited long enough to let us know he'd remind the manager to come by. So we kept waiting. Ultimately what was upsetting is that the manager never came and the server just ended up saying no--- which simply should have been said in the beginning! Up front we clarified that we knew our request was likely to be rejected-- our server told us to wait before leaving because his manager agreed to come around to us. That gave us a small hope that it might happen. We could see her walking around the empty dining room. We saw her look over to us, but she still never came. There was no excuse for being so rude to her guests and disrespectful of our time. She was reminded 3 times and chose, as a manager, not to come by. I've worked in the service industry, so I will add-- seriously, the dining room was practically empty-- maybe 3 tables. The "being too busy" excuse that can sometimes reasonably apply, didn't. The server was shutting down his station... All around, the staff was polishing and closing out the empty tables while we waited. It was shockingly disrespectful of our time. When I say 30 minutes, please understand it's a conservative estimate-- not an exaggeration as some people are prone to do on Yelp.

It was ok. I went as part of a large group event. It was a set menu - The food was good, but it took a really long time to get any food. We placed our orders at 6PM, and we did not get done until almost 9.. It took forever to get our checks for the wine - I wasnt in a rush, so I cant really complain, but I would expect a pre-set menu would be quick service.

Well, we went for an anniversary dinner on Tuesday May 26. We made a reservation but it wasn't necessary. The restaurant was vacant. The wait staff were very friendly & didn't look down at us for not ordering a bottle of wine (which they have plenty of) but just 2 glasses. I had the "lobster tail" where the meat had been completely removed, squished together with something & laid upon the now empty tail. There were about five adult bites of this pricey entree left upon the empty tail. It left much to be desired. My husband had a very pricey filet that was cooked to perfection. I just didn't feel the chef quality that we have had at other nice restaurants. We will try another nice restaurant next year.

Great service and great food. A free champagne toast because we were celebrating a few things. A couple of the steaks were slightly overcooked, but they were so delicious it was easy to overlook. Sign up on there site and join their club for a free order of delicious cheesesteak egg rolls. They have great martinis, a good happy hour, and huge wine menu. Not an everyday kind of restaurant, but excellent for celebrations.

We had great service by Sahara and Val The food was delicious and I can't wait to go back. I did enjoy the cigar area I got to have a nice Mataza Cigar with a cocktail after my meal.

Although I am still upset over my last visit, I will give them an additional star for their attempted effort to resolve my complaint. I did not call back but appreciate the message and no, I no longer want the bottle -- not worth it!

Good food. Ruined by the weird service. Tried their fixed menu. Enjoyed it. Nice appetizer. Fabulous lobster bisque soup and the filet was cooked perfectly and spiced nice. The service was a turn off. I used the cutlery during the appetizer, so instead of instantly replacing the cutlery he tried to replace it in the table 3 times until I had to finally ask for a fresh setup. That was terrible.

Ok, so far I have only been here for after dinner drinks on a Wednesday night and the bartender was very friendly and assisted in our selection of drinks. We sat in the outdoor seating right in front of the fireplace and it was perfect for the weather ! (Slightly chilly out). And the best part was the two Spanish guitars playing in the bar live! They were fantastic

Sullivan's used to be a great Thursday happy hour spot - great crowd, good food, good drinks, and good prices ($5 bar menu and martinis). Things have changed a bit, the crowd has thinned out and gotten noticeably more mature, the bar menu for food has changed (bleu cheese chips and the burger remain, but no more steak), and prices have gone up ($7 bar menu and martinis). Sullivan's needs to step up their game - not their prices - to compete with the great downtown happy hour scene.

I am up'ping my star rating on Sullivan's based on last weeks visit to Tucson while accompanying my boyfriend on his business trip. We both love coming to Tucson and both love a great steak. From past visits for us both to Sullivan's, we knew we could get a great martini and dinner here near our resort. We took a car service to Sullivan's so that we could take advantage of the dirty Martinis! Do not miss the Sullivan's martini if you come here! It is a treat! There are several vodkas and gins to choose from; even a pineapple infused vodka that you can sample if you are unsure. We decided to sit in the bar during happy hour and enjoy one of these Martinis and catch up on our day before dinner; our bartender, Ayla was above board, amazing! She makes a mean martini and even gave us the choice of olives! Blue cheese, of course! I spoke in depth to her about France, where I lived for a couple of years and gave her tips on her upcoming honeymoon. She gifted me a champagne cork to keep the bubbles in a corked bottle after I mentioned losing my favorite one from Piper Heidseck in Reims, France. She is a 5 all on her own! I told her to find my Yelp page and view my France stuff :) I wanted to spend all night talking to her ! That's a great bartender! On to dinner we went. The dining room was pretty empty so we had our choice of seats. We knew we wanted filets. Scott had the three 4 oz filets with a different topping on each: Gorgonzola and garlic; French fried onions; and a Merlot reduction. He opted for a wedge salad with blue cheese. I had the prix fixe meal. For $42 I had the shrimp cocktail : 3 large chilled prawns and a zesty cocktail sauce ; the shrimp/crab bisque ( so creamy/a little spicy/ yummy!; my filet was overcooked. Since it's a primo steakhouse and it's a pricey steak , I had to send it back. I always feel bad when I send food back, but I also feel, you can't complain if you don't let the staff know. The waitress was sweet and apologetic. I did notice the chef and his assisting chef consult with the manager before doing another filet over at the kitchen, which is open to the dining room. The manager came over and apologized and stated he wanted to comp us a dessert of our choice for the 'trouble' . We weren't planning on dessert, so that was a nice treat. My filet came out perfect and was now the 10 oz! Yikes! The bread here is amazing and so is the extensive wine list. It's cool when you order a bottle to watch the waitress or waiter go into the glass enclosed wine cellar and retrieve the bottle as some are pretty high! Our comp'd dessert was the bananas foster bread pudding. We were so full we had it boxed and bagged and carried it back to our resort. The next day this dessert was amazing! We also took two nice cigars off the cigar menu to bring back home for later. It's treats in a great steakhouse like this that make you want to return again and again.. :-)

Love the burger here! Our waitress, Sean, is so friendly and attentive. The manager, Seth, stopped by our table and checked up on how things were going. Excited for the band that's getting ready for the evening. All in all, a fun time at a casual table in the bar tonight.

a strange one this is. the wife and I arrived on a chilly winter evening in late 2013 for what we termed an "escape from our son." it was needed and only an expensive piece of cow would do. as we entered I noticed the packed bar full of future ex-wives and men drinking white wine, a dangerous mix. as we sat at the table, to my rear was a table of obviously intoxicated Indian men having a grand time. "Good on em," I thought. that night there were no rules. before dinner drink? why yes. appetizer, then a bottle of wine? sure, no kids tonight! $30 upcharge to make your steak a tomahawk? call me Fred Flintstone! so the night went well, food really good, ambience....odd. for a place that has $60 steaks, the music playing in the restaurant, it was either Huey Lewis and the News, or the first Jovi album, was BLARING. so much so I made a comment to the wife about it. there was something very American Psycho about the whole vibe... but in the end, it was a great night, a massive debit to my checking account, and fond memories. I may be back, if I get a Christmas bonus.

Terrific self-made happy hour! We got there and had a few beverages. I love love love the pineapple vodka drink. I am not sure when their actual happy hour is, but the drinks are delicious!! The atmosphere is dignified. I have enjoyed their steak but the prices are within $30-45 (a bit too much) but still a terrific experience!

We had dinner last week at Sullivan's and while we've been here several times (mostly to hang out at the bar) this may have been the best time we've had here. Our server was great, having perfect timing, knowing the menu and being around without being disruptive. I chose the prix fixe menu with the jumbo shrimp cocktail, lobster & shrimp bisque, and salmon with asparagus. It was all delicious. My bf chose a cut of steak of some sort which he raved about. Creme brulee closed out the meal before we headed home full and happy.

I used to think this was the best happy hour in town, but I was sadly disappointed from my last visit. The happy hour prices had increased by $1, and the portions of food were drastically reduced. I remembered the "Best Burger in Town" as a generous amount of meat, and this last visit revealed a much smaller patty. I used to love the huge serving of the blue cheese chips at the happy hour price, and this menu item also "shrank." The food is still tasty, but you definitely have to order more now, since all the portions are much much smaller. I guess the economy is taking it's toll?

Great food awesome service and amazing atmosphere! The wedge salad is to die for, their house made bleu cheese dressing is the best you will ever have! They have different seafood features every night and steak features as well! Definitely worth the visit. You will be impressed! :) they also have live music in the bar every single night! And happy hour on Tuesdays and Wednesday's. We love Sullivans :)

I went to Sullivan's for Mothers Day brunch and while the staff and service were top notch, I was very disappointed by the food. Let's me first say that their menu sounded amazing and I went looking forward to the crab and lobster bisque, lump crab Benedict, and banana foster bread pudding. I could taste it from the menu which is why we jumped to make our reservations. However the Benedict (and hollandaise sauce) had ZERO favor, only one egg was actually poached, I don't think the meat was crab. I was so disappointed that I could have cried. I didn't even eat most of my bread pudding that the waitress raved about as their best dessert when the first few spoonfuls were so hard and dry that it was like having banana croutons. Very disappointed in a place with such good reviews for their food! The 3 stars were really only earned but their outstanding service!

If there's any restaurant that should be stripped of its privileges of being named a "steakhouse" it is this one. The Good: * the restaurant is well lit for a steakhouse * French onion soup was delicious The Bad: * my sister ordered a special with the rib eye and a king lobster leg ($50) .. be aware IT ONLY CAME WITH ONE LEG. omg who does that. * both of our steak plates came out, and it wasn't hot.. normally, the steakhouses i usually go to.. the plates are sizzlin' hot * the steak was warm and almost cold... our steaks took so long to come to the table, so maybe that's why our steak was close to not even being warm! * I ordered the prefixe menu with the mushroom steak? yeahhhhh it was HORRIBLE. it was basically teriyaki sauce placed onto my steak. so nasty. Never coming back here.

Really disappointed in this place lately. Happy hour is only two days a week now and portions have been cut dramatically. prices are really outrageous here. I'm disappointed that we just bought two gift cards from Cosco for this place now I'm stuck using them here! This used to be my favorite happy hour place and listen to jazz music. We will only be back on Wednesday or Thursday to use the balance of my gift cards.

I love a good steak! So needless to say I was pretty excited to try this steakhouse. Wow....what a disappointment. I ordered the bone-in ribeye which should be one of the more tender steaks you can have. I ordered it medium rare. Imagine my surprise when it arrived and I begqn having trouble cutting through it. Then my jaw got tired trying to chew it! When your fork can't even pierce the steak completely through you know you've been had. Big disappointmemt and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to any steak lover.

I used to be quite the regular at Sullivan's because I lived just across the street. Plus, it was open late enough for me to drop in after work. I haven't dined in the dining room but I have dined on the patio, in cocktail, and at the bar many of times. My favorite meal is the scallops by far! They are cooked absolutely perfectly and come in a bacon sauce. I do have a tendency to love scallops but I believe these are the best I've ever had. I have ordered them two or three times now and each time they are prepared perfectly. Food and drinks are a bit expensive but once in a while it's worth it! Live music also makes the experience worth the expense! The bar service is great and the bartenders always make sure to remember you if you visit a few times. Clayton is the bartender to visit! He makes the best martinis and I'm sure other cocktails as well. You'll never feel like the service or company is even slightly under par. My boyfriend and I most recently visited on valentines day. We both worked until about 930 and didn't expect to go out for a nice dinner. We popped into Sullivan's just to see if there was a chance they were still serving and had an open table. Lucky enough they did and got us right in! The only downfall was that we were completely forgotten about for about 15 minutes and had to go ask for service. This was a few months after we had stopped being weekly regulars so I'm unsure if it was just the busy night, the holiday, or if service started slacking within the time we were absent. We will definitely go back and give it another shot. I just hope one of our favorite restaurants isn't slacking on service and going downhill. If it does seem to be that way, the bar is always a safe bet!

I went for Cocktails and Conversations, hoping to make it a regular outing. Unfortunately, I will not go back because of Sullivan's. The service was horrible, servers were clueless, and food mediocre. The biggest reason was that the servers and bar manager were rude and unfriendly. They actually made us feel unwelcome. Terrible...I would give 0 if I could, never going back. I highly discourage anyone from wasting their time and money there.

Went for happy hour on Sunday. So this review is for the bar area only. Our waitress was not very consistent and a little hard to grab at times. But otherwise, service was good. I had the bar menu burger. $6 at happy hour!! It was huge and came with fries! And well, it was pretty tasty too. The music in the bar was really good, but loud. If you go when they have a live band, don't expect to be able to visit with those around you. Overall, happy hour at the bar is definitely a great deal.

Try the calamari! It's fabulous as is the service. Had the wedge, yum! And the French onion soup, to die for people! I always come here for celebrations and they never fail. Thanks Whitney and Brandon for the perfect service, sweet dispositions and the over the top personalities. You made our experience fun and were always there at just the right time!

Sorry Sullivan's, but your Thursday happy hour has become a lot less happy. I remember $5 burgers and glasses of wine, but now everything is $7, including drinks. What also makes me sad is that the portion sizes have reduced drastically -- I used to share the delicious blue cheese chips with a friend or two and not be able to finish them, but now the portion is literally about half of what it used to be. Same with the burger and the tavern steak. It's still good, just not good value. This is all probably an upper-management decision from higher up the chain than Tucson, but this former regular won't be going to Sullivan's on Thursday night as eagerly anymore.

My folks think this is the best of Tucson, but honestly, it's mid-range even for Southwest desert. While they did manage to serve our filets at temperature, the act of serving was like a freaking clown side show. Not once were the women at the table served first and when our entrees came out and several servers showed with plates, it was seriously three-ring worthy and plates with arms crossing and plates sliding across the table. If Sullivan's wants to command the prices they charge, they need to recruit some head of house that knows how a dining room should be run and train their staff properly. Their only saving grace at this point seems to be a well-poured martini which gets you absolutely s-faced so you don't notice their lackluster performance throughout the rest of the evening.

A wonderful evening to be had a Sullivans. Whenever I visit Tucson this is a must. Chef prepares your steaks beautifully and the sides are to die for! My personal favorites are the brussels spouts with bacon and the seasonal sweet potato casserole. During winter you must try the kale salad... Grapes, nuts and overall a dreamy dressing. Don't forget the incredible wine list, their wine cellar will not disappoint. I always make room for the creme brûlée but never have enough room so a table of 4 can easily share.

We recently ate here after several years! They had some great choices on a Prix Fix menu for $39... Shrimp cocktail, soup or salad and delicious filet mignon! The service was attentive . Our server Brad made sure we had everything the way we liked it and helped with some suggestions! A wonderful meal! We will go back sooner rather than later!

Train Wreck! Okay, started off well...and that's about it. Oysters Rockefeller were great. Bottle of wine was nice. Where was dinner? Seriously, there may have been 8 patrons including the two of us in the entire restaurant. We were in bar and our bartender/waitress, (I wish I had caught her name), was ?, I don't even know what to say! After waiting for about an our for our food, (ordered the prefix), we finally 'asked' for bread. The bread was delivered, then came wedge salads, and about 30 seconds later the steaks. A little lump of meat that looked like maybe two ounces smothered in sauce. We didn't take a bite of any of it. Asked for the check and left. Did they comp anything? No! Of course we weren't charged for the prefix meals, but the whole thing was a joke. Their only saving grace was when Clayton took over for our waitress. No wonder this place is empty. Went for a business lunch a couple of weeks ago and it took 50 minutes to get a burger and fries. Wake the f__k up! We'll go to Flemings or McMahon's from now on.

This would have been a four or five star review ... until the very end. Went to happy hour with a friend. The staff was super friendly and pretty efficient. We ordered a Moscow mule and a dirty martini - both great. For food we chose the blue cheese chips with the blue cheese on the side - this was a great decision - the Mediterranean platter, and the sliders. Huge portions. We didn't come close to finishing. Probably could have done without the Mediterranean platter. It was a Tuesday night and there was live music, so it was busy, but there were one or two empty tables in the bar. We were having a great time, wrapping up, but still chatting - finishing our second round of drinks. Then the waitress - who was great - came and asked; you could tell she felt awkward about it, so my best guess is that it was not her idea to do this; if they could move us to another table ... huh? At that point, we just felt uncomfortable, so we headed out. Everything was good until then. Haven't decided if I'll be back.

Great atmosphere great food. Pretty pricey though. Unfortunately, this is a special occasion restaurant only. The price fix menu is reasonable for $42 but is limited. Three adults for dinner was $245 with tax and tip.

Dark steak house atmosphere. Food is pretty good here, I like the appetizers and the steaks. They do have some wines that are priced well and they taste like very expensive wines. During our dinner the waiter kept putting the bottle of wine at the end of the table, we moved in the middle a couple of times and he moved again. Then he knocked the bottle and it fell on the floor. We asked for another bottle and unfortunately that was the only bottle left for that wine.

This used to be a wonderful place to go for an upscale meal but not any longer! The atmosphere is very tired and in desperate need of updating. While the service we had was great (waiter's name was Christopher), the food was just not that good. We ordered onion rings as an appetizer and they were greasy and unedible. I had the filet mignon medallions special of the evening and whoever cut the meat into three "slices" has never cut meat before as they cut it wrong so it was tough. It also had zero flavor. My SO ordered the scallops which he said were just okay. We have eaten our last meal at Sullivan's. :-(

Had a great client dinner last night and had to give credit where credit is due. Because I was born in Omaha, Nebraska and raised on beef, I tend to be a little snobbish when it comes to steak houses. Too many steak houses are messing up the age old formula - great steaks and strong drinks with superb service. Well somebody old school must be running Sullivans! They have plenty of both. I had the bone in aged ribeye, ceaser salad with anchovies (you can't call yourself a real steak house and you don't have a good ceaser or wedge salad), and oysters on the half shell to start. From the beginning of service, our waiter was on top of it, making sure we never had an empty drink and even took our salads back when they arrived because we had not finished the oysters. When is the last time a server actually took something back to allow you more time to enjoy your meal??? One of the managers visited the table twice during our meal to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and the entire wait staff looked like a bunch of Top Model contestants so they have the eye candy factor going for them too. I left just as the live band got started on the patio but I will have to hit it again on another Thursday. Not too close to where I live but central enough to Tucson for most to enjoy. I would definitely add this to your list of places to for special occasions and business dinners.

Mmmm Steak! We came for a special dinner. The service was pleasant, if a little goofy. We decided on the Pris Fixe menu, and I'm so glad we did! It was nice to try a variety of starters. My husband was quiet pleased with his cheese steak roll. My shrimp was good, but a bit dry. Not sure how shrimp gets dry... Our salads were large and tasty. Our steaks were Fabulous! I mean, what do you expect, right? But they were cooked so perfectly and super tender. Great location and atmosphere. I want to give the happy hour a try. We'll be back!

$500 of food with $15 worth of service. Appetizers not brought out, empty plates and extra glasses left to wash themselves, check not split as requested - truly inexcusable service for the amount of money this restaurant demands. Been here twice, will never return. 1st time in 20 years I have left less than a 20% tip. They were luck they got a nickel. If you want a good steak with crappy service, go here! If you want a good steak and phenomenal service, go to Flemming's up the road... Or anywhere else that understands fine dining. Taking my family out to a "nice" restaurant has never been more embarrassing. So many better options in Tucson within this same price range.

Love this place. I had a few bites of my friends burger which was delicious! Fun atmosphere and I love that the doors were open since it was such a beautiful night out. Clayton was our bartender and we loved him. Super quick service. We moved to a table and kaylin served us. She was really personable and helpful even though we asked a ton of questions about their signature martinis.

My husband and I took our friend from out of town to dinner. We wanted to try a new steakhouse which is something we enjoy to do. The place was busy and since we had reservations we were seated promptly. The place is nicely lit and the decor and open kitchen is nice. When we first sat our waitress was ok and introduced herself. Once she realized we weren't ordering alcohol she was quick with us and not very hospitable. When offering us the specials she was quick and acted as one who works at the local Chili's. Our drinks were always empty throughout the meal and our bread didn't show up until right before our meal came out. Then came the meal.... We each ordered the Filet Mignon. white cheddar au gratin potatoes, asparagus and mushrooms. My husband and friends turned out fine. And they are truly cooked to order. Even the 12 oz filet. Mine however was a NY strip steak. My husband and I eat regularly at fine steakhouses and cook plenty at home. I know my cuts of meat. I told her I think there was a mistake and she kept saying no that's a filet. I asked her how it possibly could be and pointed to my companions plates and their thick round steaks. Mine was flat and long. She treated me like this was my first steak I have ever seen. All she kept saying was cut into it, cut into it. Like that would solve anything. I did and it was Med rare when I asked for Med well. She took my plate back. After a few minutes the lovely manager must have noticed and came up to speak to us this is where our evening turned out for the better.....(the side dishes all tasted great by the way. Perfectly seasoned and cooked) Jennie came up asked how our evening was going. I explained to her the situation and how our waitress has been handling our table. Jennie was awesome. She was on top of it immediately told us she is fixing it and that there will be a new waiter working this table. Hallelujah!! The new waiter was personable, knowledgable on the dessert menu and friendly. As he was telling us our options on dessert Jennie walked by and said desserts are on them. We tried the Banana Fosters, Creme Brûlée and coconut cream pie. The banana fosters bread pudding was epic!! The pie had way to much whip cream but the crust and what little filling was delicious and the strawberries on top of the Creme Brûlée is the only way to go. When the bill arrived we noticed Jennie not only took care of desserts but my meal as well. She saved Sullivan's, had she not reacted and took responsibility for her waitress, we would never recommend this place, return and this would have a 1 star review. Things they need to work on ... Their wait staff mainly, Keep the drinks filled all the time, they should never be empty. Be friendly and personable. By the way, we left a $60 tip to the new waiter to show our appreciation and to also hopefully teach our crappy first waitress that her attitude will not get her very far in the service industry.

This review is for Sullivan's Bar for happy hour on Thursdays. My friends and I like to come here for martinis and light appetizers on Thursdays, when the prices are actually reasonable. However, the last time I went there were huge chunks of ice in my Knockout... watered it down considerably. Also, I had a terrible allergic reaction to something in a dish I had ordered there many times before. Maybe the kitchen didn't wipe down the counters well enough. That being said, the waitresses have always been really nice - but I can tell they're pretty stressed out most of the time. Maybe they need more staff to take care of all the bar guests that flood the place every Thursday night.

Great happy hour! Came here this evening with a group of 10 or so and the place was busy for a Wednesday evening. While I was there with a group of friends solely interested in catching up with each other, I can't help but watch the bar crowd. Not quite as obvious as Flemings for the foothills crowd meat market but hell, it's fun to watch! Prices are outstanding for select drinks and bar food. I loved my super refreshing drink, the Spiked Mint Lemonade and ate it with The Best Burger in Town, a large burger topped with your choice of cheeses...bleu cheese please! What a bargain this was, just six bucks for that big boy! Across my table, W ordered the Bleu Cheese Chips, a huge plate of potato chips covered in melted bleu cheese and scallions. She let me sample her dish and I will definitely be getting that next time I'm here! I'd love to come back for a real meal but with happy hour prices like this, it's hard to gravitate away from the bar!

Very Disappointing... Nice looking from the outside... Drinks were good food was mediocre and fish was not fresh. Seared ahi was delivered brown and old looking. The waitress said "that's how it's suppose to look like." We filled out an on-line survey regarding the bad food and service with no response from the restaurant.

I have always been impressed with Sullivan's. I usually have 1-2 lunches per month there, and dinner every other month. Two/three years ago there was inconsistency, but far from the truth now. Every time I go we are pleasantly greeted, and the experience only gets better. All of the steaks are great. For those who understand good steak, it doesn't need to be well done or messed with much. I have learned to order medium because it usually comes slightly rarer than that, but just perfect. Wedge salad is a must. Service is the right speed for those who are there to socialize or discuss business. I have always felt that I was there an hour when in reality it was almost two. The experience and flow of service is exceptional. The former GM really turned it around, and the new GM has continued the upward trend. It's a great place for special occasions or entertaining clients/out of town guests. If you let then know what's going on they will go above and beyond.

I hadn't been back to Sullivan's in ions so, thought we would give it another go... We sat outside in order to enjoy the Latin jazz fusion band ( band was amazing !) . We ordered steaks & the seafood tower sampler Appetizer.. This used to be the hot spot here in town but, it seemed to have a much older crowd on this Wednesday night , the steak did not disappoint but, the waitress didn't have the amazing service I've come to expect there but, was still very courteous . All in all, we had a great time & will be back!

Every dish prepared at Sullivan's is so perfect and so tasty that it could make a bishop kick in a stained-glass window. I've heard that Fleming's is prime and thus is better than the choice that Sullivan's offers - but I tried Fleming's only 1 time, and vowed never to return after my wife and I ended up with food poisoning. Sullivan's has a lot of testosterone - tall, thin, leggy blondes make up both the female and male service staff of this steakhouse. The luxurious hard wood surroundings, black and white photos of boxers, and faux 1930s art that trims certain areas all whisk you away to a magical speak-easy. Unfortunately, I've heard, they will be changing their floor plans and décor...we shall see how drastic the measures are. Service here is polished, polite, and punctual - especially Andrew. He took care of my family during lunch, and could not have timed our courses better. He is amazing with children, and incredibly knowledgeable regarding all of the food - from where the oysters originate to the wines. A+++ for Andrew. We started with oysters on the half shell - the freshest oysters you could imagine. Succulent. The cocktail sauce is a great marriage of horseradish and ketchup, surrounded elegantly by a bed of ice in a glass tray that thrones the oysters. The iceberg wedge is a smash hit because Sullivan's offers the creamiest, sweetest bleu cheese dressing that I wish I could replicate but sadly can't. The filet mignon is always perfectly prepared, as if using NASA technology to create a perfect semi salty char while rendering the middle throughout exactly how you ask for it. Unbelievable flavor, and complimented exquisitely by a béarnaise sauce that is not overpowering with tarragon. Heaven - sheer heaven. The shrimp are perfectly cooked - nice snap to them, not water logged like some places. The side items are divine - creamed spinach and sautéed mushrooms are out of this world in flavor and balance. Complimentary for my birthday, I was rewarded a slice of Coconut Cream Pie that was silky smooth, mellow on the coconut, and rich - surrounded by a crust made of crushed vanilla wafers and topped with white chocolate. Prepare to spend a small fortune when you come here - a glass of house wine, appetizer, salad, steak, and dessert including tax and 20% tip will run each guest upwards of $80. But is it worth it? Of course it is. If you ever end up on death row - the above is what you should ask for as your final meal. You will enter the afterlife stuffed, broke, and a smile from ear to ear.

Every time my wife and I visit Tucson we go to Sullivan's and are never disappointed. The food is amazing, the prices are not unfathomable, the wine list is exemplary, and martinis are top-notch. They make us feel great from the moment we walk in and they are great at making the act of dining an incredibly pleasant experience. Also, the cheesesteak egg rolls are just ridiculous in how good they are. We will be coming to Sullivan's again and again.

Pretty difficult to go wrong with the upscale chain steakhouses, and Sullivan's was on par with my expectations. Everyone in my group ordered off the prixe fix menu and had a good meal. A nice plus was live music in the bar/lounge area. Great way to unwind before the meal.

I love a good cut of meat, steak dinners are one of my favorite meals, to me steakhouses not only have to have killer steaks but the service must be dazzling. Most, go above and beyond and i am happy to pay for that grade of service. If Jennie (manager) had not come over to check on our table and fixed the service situation & steak issue for my friend, my rating would have been much lower. The first waitress our table had was terrible, she needed to check her attitude because it was horrendous (or) rethink working in the service industry. When she delivered our meal she placed a new york strip in front of my friend who had ordered an 8oz Filet Mignon. When brought to her attention it was the wrong cut of meat, she insisted it was correct (like we were the idiots.) After sending it back, that is when Jennie got involved in our evening. THANK GOODNESS she did, she saved the night! She corrected the meat error and gave us a new waiter who was very personable and awesome! The food: Starter - * The wedge salad (It was fresh, crisp and very tasty.) Entree - * Filet Mignon 8oz (cooked to the exact temperature i asked for w/a little pink.) Sides the table shared - * White Cheddar Au Gratin Potatoes (oh my goodness yum!) * Grilled Asparagus * Skillet Mushrooms (I like mushrooms, but sometimes they are swimming in butter and that turns me off to ordering them. These were not drowning in butter, they were perfectly tender and seasoned just right!) Dessert we shared - * Bananas Foster Bread Pudding **MUST TRY THIS** (This was a recommendation by our second waiter of the evening. Boy what a great recommendation it was! It was crispy in all the right places and soft & light in all the rest. Not at all soggy like some bread puddings i have had.) * Creme Brulee w/Strawberries (It was Vanilla Bean brulee, but without the strawberries it would have been kind of flat/bland.) * Coconut Cream Pie (Meh, i do not love coconut cream to begin with but it had an over abundance of whip cream and not enough coconut cream.) ~ So overall: the food was delicious, the thing that lacks at this steakhouse is the service. If Jennie had not been there to fix the night and switch out our wait staff then it would have been a totally different experience. ~ I hope if you give this place a chance your service is up to snuff with the norm for steakhouses.

We came here for my wife's birthday dinner and had a wonderful time. The meal was superb and the service outstanding. Ayla, the special events coordinator, went out of her way to accommodate our requests and made sure my wife's birthday was as special as we had envisioned. We were amazed at how well she handled all the details, like a seasoned pro, although it was her first week in that position. Credit must be given to Sullivan's management team for knowing their employees strengths so well that they place them in the ideal positions. All in all a great experience and will definitely be back. We will spread the word to all friends in Tucson.

Tuesday + Sullivans = Formula for happiness. On Tuesdays, in the bar, bar food items and signature cocktails are "2 for 1". What they really end up charging you is half price. That works out better if you really don't want two drinks and is a pretty cool thing for them to do. You can get "The Best Burger In Town" (their name for their burger) for $4.50. Yes, I said $4.50. Can you even get a burger and fries at In-n-Out or Jack In the Box for $4.50? Add in the ultra-cool steakhouse atmosphere... what's not to love. Obviously, we had the burger. I won't say it's the best burger in town, but it's pretty damn good. It comes with your choice of cheese and then you can choose homemade potato chips, mashed potatoes or the thinnest, crispiest fries you have ever had. I know what you're thinking... for $4.50 - no way. I would NEVER lie about something like this. Wash it down with good quality cocktail like a Cosmo or a CEO Martini, both made with high end liquors, shaken to perfection and garnished properly. Burgers and drinks totaled to right around $27... a total steal in my eyes. Time for an anecdote: There were two servers in the bar that looked eerily alike. Well it turns out they were twins. Each of them came to our table at different times and , at times, we thought they were the same person. That's kind of a cruel joke to play on someone who just thinks that second martini had them seeing double.

This is the place for happy hour networking. Run into old colleagues, future clients and current clients. Steak and wine for me. Great place to converse over a good meal. It's just a classier place than your normal happy hour

Modesty sells!!! Please dress your men and women more modestly it looked like a strip club. Even the employees are uncomfortable wearing your garb! The food was great but we will be heading out to Flemings for steak next time.

This used to be a GREAT spot for dinner. We got a last minute reservation on a Saturday night (tell you something). The bar scene is good, but the wait for food in the dining room was extremely long. The good thing is that management was very deferential about it and offered up a free desert and coupons for appetizers upon out return. This is very customer service friendly. The food was good, but not over the top great, for the prices charged. Nonetheless, this is a very nice place for dinner and we will return when we are in that part of town. Had the halibut special and it was excellent.

service was excellent...the drinks were fine...the apps were fine...however several of us ordered the RibEye special. It came out over cooked and looked like somebody cut the steak in half. $56 a head was a shame. didn't bother complaining to the manager since he/she already knew what was coming out AND it was a night of celebration for our group. Thankfully, we found something to eat later that night to fill the void. Oh, and don't get me started on the $10 extra to turn it into an Oscar. Oy.

I am so disappointed. I have been out of town for a couple years for work but before I left Sullivan's was my all time favorite restaurant here. I ate there every chance I could. BUT.... When I came back to town I couldn't wait to start eating there again but I was so let down when I did. I should have known when we walked in on a Friday evening and the place was empty.... Friday night.... empty. Years ago this place would have been packed on a Friday night. Starting out the wait staff was not the best. Very rude and unattentive. When I looked at the menu I was disappointed to find some changes and not for better. The prices went up and the selection went down. I was very disappointed to learn that they no longer served escargot. So being that they removed my favorite app. From the menu I asked what they recommended. I was told the steak eggrolls were good. They were wrong. They were horrible. The steak was terrible and most of it was nasty fat and nerve. Gross. Moving on to dinner. Luckily they had my usual entree. I ordered a filet mignon, medium rare, Oscar style. For sides I ordered the potatoes and creamed spinach. When my order arrived first thing I noticed was the sides were very notably smaller in size.... yet costed more and tasted not up to standard. The spinach was just okay and the potatoes tasted liked chunky boxed potatoes. The steak was overcooked and just as low quality as the eggrolls. The asparagus that came with it were also burned and flavorless. At this point we usually order desert but that wasn't happening after this failure of a dinner. Overall extremely disappointed. The food was not good at all and worse the prices were terrible for the rubbish we got. I have no problem paying high prices if the food and service match in quality or are at least comparable but this was not the case here. Sullivan's you have really gone downhill. I am truly sad because you WERE my favorite here in Tucson. You have lost one of your biggest fans. I will not be returning because I am not willing to pay another 200+ dollars for sub par food and service. Especially when I couldn't even find ONE positive thing about the meal and really wanted to. Sorry

This review is only for happy hour in the bar...I don't have any other experience than that. The happy hour is the best deal in town. Amazing drinks for $6. I had some grapefruit infused vodka martini with agave that was like drinking the best grapefruit juice you've ever had in your life. But the steak on the happy hour menu is the piece de resistance...about 6 oz. of sliced steak, cooked to perfection, smothered in sauteed mushrooms and served atop a bed of sauteed spinach. This was possibly the best steak I've ever eaten in my life. And the fantastic part? During happy hour it is $6. $6!! Not only was this an amazingly delicious meal for a great price, it's quite difficult to find low-carb happy hour options...most places offer lots of deep fried carby options as their happy hour specials. This steak is the best deal in town, and low-carb to boot, if that's your thing. As an aside, I was sitting at the bar by myself and a few older guys sitting alone tried to chat me up, not in a gross way, but friendly. I don't know what their intentions were, but if you're looking for a rich husband...I'm just sayin'...might be a good spot.

I've been here about 2 times a year for about 6 years or so, and always enjoyed it. It always was a great post-work happy hour. But tonight, I went in with a friends, and couldn't be more offended. I had 3 drinks, and I was not driving, really thinking I wasn't "drunk" or anything, but I was starting to be bothered by the service. There was no waitress that defined herself to our table, and when I tried to go inside, I couldn't even get the same bartender twice. It was far below what I'd been use to there. I ordered at the bar, and then one from the table, as did my friend. And then my friend was bothered by no service, so I had to walk in myself and order the next 2 rounds at the bar and take them back to our table. The service was so bad, I walked into the bar and I asked for one last drink and my tab to close out, they refused to give me my tab!! Yes, not only did they say no to the drink, the refused to give me my tab WHAT? Fine, cut me off, whatever, but, let me pay so I can leave. They made a HUGE scene at the bar for at least 10 minutes, and insisted I prove I was with a friend. They got another customer involved for some reason, sending her outside to confirm I wasn't alone. And yes, I have the bar receipt, it was 3 drinks before they chose to embarrass me in front of my friends.... I'd been quite polite, talking to friends, not bothering anyone, and trying to be polite to the very chatty bar patron who started up a conversation sitting next to me. Sadly, the woman next to me started arguing with the bartender and next thing I knew, there was staff loud and rude all around me, arguing. I repeatedly asked, "I don't need a 4th drink, please stop the lecture (which she repeated and repeated and repeated "we have a policy, we have been sued, we can't serve more" and I BEGGED PLEASE just let me pay my check so I can leave" and the embarrassment continued for another 5 minutes or so. They just got louder and ruder in front of my friends, and more obnoxious. It had been at least 10 minutes since I asked for my check, and they were STILL just sending one person after another to the counter to give me the same rude lecture after another. I really wanted to explain to each person I'd only had 3 drinks, but it just became so obnoxious I was actually BEGGING to pay them so I could leave. Wow, I did not drive there, I was not drunk, I quietly and peacefully asked for my check after 3 drinks, and because someone sitting next to me accused the bar staff of being belligerent (which they honestly were) they took it out on me, were excessively rude, and embarrassed me in front of friends. All the way home, in my friend car, I just heard over and over, "wow, I can't believe I saw that" and I have no excuse for suggesting we go there anymore. The band was ok, the staff outside was cool, but the bar staff was INSANE NASTY. I had to apologize all the way home to my friends for suggesting we go there, because one of my friends apparently had their own run-in with a bartender also.

Denny's for the 1% While the bar looked interesting, the dining room was uninspiring, had the ambiance of an airport club. The food is pricey and mediocre: $37 entree only for overcooked salmon and one dry shrimp. $53 for a filet which was lukewarm. Spent $160 for a meal that was a very small step up from Outback.

The in-laws were in town and are connoisseurs of fine cusine. What immediately came into my mind was Cafe Poca Cosa, but that place is too dark and the dishes can be a hit or miss (a hit for my fiance but a miss for me last time). So in the last minute we decided to go to a steakhouse and praying that the meal can please the parents. It was the unremarkable Monday after Thanksgiving so we were greeted by the same inquiry--"What is the special occasion?"--for at least four times. Except that the calamari is not for my liking, everything else we got was FABULOUS and I am a proven difficult customer! Appetizer: Crispy Shanghai Calamari (apparently we got it for the name Shanghai... But I don't like the sweet-spicy glaze) Shrimp and Lobster Brisque (really good brisque and the taste of butter is subtle but rich yet not clogging your throat and arteries) Entree: Filet Mignon (w/ Bourbon Peppercorn Sauce): my fiance's order and I stole a bite--it was the tenderest piece of meat I've ever tasted!!! For someone who always left his food half-eaten no matter how good it was, he finished this steak because yes, it was this good.) Pan Seared Sea Bass: A MUST HAVE! GET THIS IF YOU LIKE SEAFOOD! I've had many many good sea food growing up and this is one of the very best. Perfectly flaked, super fresh, and just out of this world without all the excessive sauces. True, it is expensive. But I am so thrilled to find such a top-notch restaurant for special occasions (and the waiters knew that too apparently). It is totally worth the price. I haven't had such an exciting meal experience in a while now. Go Tucson!

Sullivan's is a bit schizophrenic. The bar scene is definitely a noisy middle-aged meat market with good bar food (the blue cheese covered chips are indulgent and delicious). The waitresses will flirt with the male customers, and are scantily clad. But they're nice enough. They have a full bar, but their martini deals is where it's at. The Knockout (the restaurant is named after John Lawrence Sullivan, a bare-knuckled boxer) is made with homemade pineapple-infused vodka. Yum. Then there's the restaurant. Let me just put it plainly. If you want to be accommodated well here, you have to be people who know people. Get to know the managers. Once you're on a first name basis with them, you can show up on a Thursday and get seated in a nice booth. Otherwise, you're just going to be treated like the masses. And Sullivan's is all about exclusivity and hipness, in a Rat Pack sort of way. Either your in or your out, simple as that. As for the food, you can't go wrong with steak and potatoes, in their multiplicity of forms. If you like your steaks aged and broiled, you're going to be satisfied. The sides are family style, and they're all good. What can I say about salads? Not much...you're at a steakhouse, eat steak. Or try the fish. The sea bass is delicate and lovingly flavored with an Asian style marinade. Sullivan's has a great wine selection at varying prices, and you don't have to be intimidated about parings...that's what the waitresses in the skimpy skirts and fishnets are there for...partly. Have dinner. Order coffee. Let your food digest, and enjoy the evening. Going to Sullivan's is an experience, not just a meal. Take your time.

I have to say i do like this place, great happy hour , good food, and most times, great music.... except tonight...., Went to see a favorite trio, as it turned out the info on the TJS was wrong, a piano guy showed up. Being a musician I stayed to listen, I've heard allot of great piano players, and wanted to give this guy a chance. I ordered a drink, the piano guy sat at the piano and started to play horribly, long renditions of a classical pice, lasted a gut wrenching ten minutes, hitting every third note badly. I thought, what the heck, maybe he's just warming up and will actually start playing the reg. set list, he paused, then started to play another classical piece, very badly, again...., I'm thinking, Sullivan's needs a wake up call from a musician ...If you sit down, to have drinks, order appetizers , spend money...., why would you hire a terrible musician to entertain, that is just not smart,,,,, Sullivan;s, you want people to stay and spend money, hire decent musicians, Tucson has plenty,,, needless to say, I had one drink and walked out, couldn't stand to sit and listen to bad music. I think some of these places are underestimating their clientele, we, in Tucson, know music..., can't full a musician,,... Stop being cheep, get decent entertainment.... Please!!!!

Sullivan's used to be a great go to place for lite bites and good cocktails with a fab staff. They all work at Union now, the food last time I went was lackluster and uninspired and the cocktails haven't changed in a while. I do like the atmosphere though, in that it's pretty fancy pants for Tucson and offers up a lounge-y vibe not found frequently in the OP. But I'd rather hit up somewhere more local, tastier and with all the folks that took care of me who again, now work at Union.

I was really looking forward to this meal. Unfortunately, it was an enormous disappointment. The filet. (Ordered rare but delivered medium rare). Was dry but tender. The side dish (potatoes au gratin) was served at room temp. The soup, salad and oysters were very good but overall, this was the worst $100/person meal I have ever had.

Came here for my birthday diner with my boyfriend. The service was very professional and warm. ( I thought my waiter smiling like Will Smith ;) ) We both had NY strip, which was just fine. The flavor was not bad, but the beef they used was not good at that price. If the meal was only for steak, I might just give them 3 stars. But we also tried the oyster. We had 3 west and 3 east species, and both liked the east a lot. So we had another 6 east oyster. The oysters were very fresh, which you might not need any sauce, not even lemon juice to add on. We tried the stone crab claw too. Although this was my first time to try, I though it was over cooked and no flavor. As it's my birthday, we got a free crime brulee as the desert. To be honest, I didn't like it, but my boyfriend did. The top hard caramel was too thick and uneven, and as it was cold, it was too hard to eat. Anyway, my boyfriend said he would be back, just for their oyster;)

It is quite literally two businesses. You have the restaurant side which is a perfectly fine steakhouse. Nothing super fancy but a nice place for Tucson. I have eaten here dozens of times and services and food is highly consistent and the wine list is quite acceptable. Then you have the bar side. It is a perfectly acceptable cocktail lounge. The wine by the glass (WTG) is a bit iffy, but hey, this is Tucson. The cocktails are pretty standard and often well priced depending on happy hour times. I also get quite the charge watching the young(ish) staff dressed in black panty hose trying to land big tips from the mostly middle aged male crowd. All in all a fine place for a good but not great dinner or some cocktails with friends.

Everything was going just fine at Sullivan's -- they accommodated us even though we were 30 minutes late to our reservation for 8 at 7pm on a Friday night. (I called to let them know). The table was immediately ready and the waiter was prompt with taking drink orders and greeting us. the problem was the 45-minute wait between the salad course and our entrees. they did come out to apologize at least twice, saying they gave our food to another table? anyway, I understand that @&$& happens. when the entrees did arrive, they were quite good. my filet was cooked just the way I wanted, and the garlic mash was seasoned properly and made a perfect accompaniment. the food, in general, was excellent, except for one item: the "Philly cheese steak egg roll" appetizer was called out by the waiter as extra special, but it wasn't. it seemed like something frozen and heated up. and the sauce cloyingly sweet. not yet ready to write off Sully's. I'm willing to give them another try.

Top Notch Upper Management! Within 24 hours of my previous review I was contact through Yelp by the General Manager of Sullivan's to relay a sincere apology and obtain my phone number to speak further. Within another 24 hours I received a phone call directly from the GM to discuss the experience. I relayed to the manager that it was not my intention to seek out some sort of 'refund' for my meal but just to express my frustration with the lack of attention received. It became very clear, very quickly that this manager was not only frustrated with the way in which his staff conducted themselves during my visit but was embarrassed. He asked specific and poignant questions attempting to learn who specifically was working that night and gaining a better understanding of precisely what transpired. When the phone call ended I felt worlds better about this establishment and felt confident that the experience wouldn't be repeated to any customer in a similar situation. A few days later my wife an I received a very generous gift certificate and another letter of apology. The gesture was beyond kind and completely redeemed the restaurant and its upper management. Thank you Sullivan's and my wife and I will definitely now be singing your praises and visiting again!

I came here tonight to celebrate my graduation from the University of Arizona and had very high hopes for what seemed to be one of Tucson's better fine dining restaurants.. The ambiance and decor were elegant and cozy but aside from that there wasn't much to rave about.. The service at this restaurant is lack luster just like its food and for the money you pay to eat here they could stand to learn how to tend to their customers better.. They served us our food and brought utensils only after I complained that I wouldn't be able to eat my steak with my hands.. What fine dining restaurant drops the ball at this level? Usually steakhouse waitstaffs are on top of everything since they charge you $40 a plate! One other aspect of this restaurant that seemed very unprofessional to me was what the female waitstaff and hostesses had on.. extremely short mini skirts/dresses to the point that you could almost see their behinds.. This isn't Hooters so please cover yourself up.. Now on to the food.. I made my reservation in advance with high anticipation for some seared ahi tuna and steak.. Little did I know that I would be so disappointed with their seafood.. We ordered the tuna tartare as an appetizer and it tasted as if there was no seasoning on it at all.. If they had just put some salt and pepper on it it would have been much improved, but overall not the best I've had.. Our entrees came with a caesar salad, spinach salad, and french onion soup.. I requested a lightly dressed caesar salad and I guess the chef took that literally because the dressing was pretty much non-existent.. The spinach salad was good but the dressing was a bit on the sweet side and overpowered the great flavor of the red onion and bacon.. I didn't get a chance to try the french onion soup but my guests enjoyed it.. For dinner we had the sea bass prepared Hong Kong style, seared ahi tuna, and the 16 ounce ribeye.. The sea bass was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of pan fried crisp on the top.. The seared ahi tuna was just as disappointing as the tuna tartare appetizer and lacked flavor.. The ribeye was probably the best dish that we ordered and the only thing that I would bother to eat again if given the opportunity.. It was prepared medium rare and very tender and juicy.. Although I enjoyed my steak all the other dishes were just so poorly executed that I wouldn't bother wasting my time or money dining here again.. Luckily my ribeye was large enough to share with everyone because they weren't as happy with their own selections.. So if there's one note to leave it would be that they certainly live up to being a great steakhouse, but they definitely don't do any justice to their ahi tuna options.. How can the one dish that is served raw be the one that they mess up? That's something to think about before you decide to dine here.. Take your hard earned money and eat somewhere better! **Update: I have been contacted by management and they assured me that they will inform their staff of these issues and correct them. This is what I call excellent customer service, even if it's after the fact it still counts!

I have been a fan of Sullivan's since I can remember. I use to go to the one in Palm Desert CA all the time. I have always enjoyed the food and the service there. The best thing on the menu was the Chocolate Souffle, but found out that they discontuned it. (So Sad) I did enjoy my Mango Tango Martini it tasted like a hawaiian vacation in my mouth....=)

The food is AMAZING, but it isn't cheap.... unless you go for the Thursday night happy hour at the bar. Check out the Happy Hour for cheap drinks and delicious food. Everything on the bar menu is delicious... everything at Sullivan's is delicious. Really the food is so good. You have to check it out. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is fun and relaxed. Highly recommended by everyone who knows about this place. P.S. If you decide to go for Happy Hour, get there early. This place is often standing room only on Thursday nights.

Let me start my saying that I'm not a big steak eater. However, Sullivan's has always offered a consistently great experience. I typically come with large groups and start in the bar where the music is good and the service is prompt. The bar has an outside patio which can be very pleasant on cooler days/evenings. The full on meals are on the pricier side, but the quality is consistent and the service excellent. For the most part, the intention is to get whatever kind of meat your into and get lots of sides as a group to share family style. I usually stick with the salmon, scallops or fish of the day, which are always moist and well prepared. My steak eating friends have always complemented the steaks (but I can't speak to that myself). For side, the mac and cheese is a comforty buttery lump of goodness. I also like the unique preparation of their gnocchi (they offer it in the bar, but if you ask nicely you can get it for dinner). The marinated mushrooms are also yum.

Enjoyable! Went with co-workers for a burger and a drink a couple of weeks ago. Had a nice time, and a decent burger. The bartender wasn't fully on his game perhaps, or maybe it was just an off day. I think it's a bit difficult to make a vodka tonic wrong, but it happened. I won't hold that against them, and I will surely visit again.

I think what saved me was telling the waitress to ask the chef for one of the better cuts. It's was really tasty as I was nervous from the low yelp rating. I had the porterhouse and was pleased (and I have been to the best of steakhouses).

Disclaimer: I'm a vegetarian so I can't comment on the quality of steak. Sullivan's is an ok place to go for a swanky swanky kind of steakhouse experience. Rich people like to hang out on the patio and smoke expensive cigars. If that's your bag, then by all means rock on over to Sullivan's. If it isn't, well, don't say I didn't warn you. Lute Olson and Kevin O'Neill were eating there the same night after the calamity that was the '07-'08 UA Basketball season. You could cut the tension with a knife.

My husband and I were in Tucson for a little getaway, and decided our "nice" dinner would be here at Sullivan's. Neither of us had ever been to one, yet have frequented MANY high end steakhouses. We got there early for our reservation to be able to have a drink in the bar. When we got there, they said they could seat us right away...the dining room didn't look too crowded...but we wanted to enjoy the bar first. There was band playing that was actually really good....so we had a glass of champagne there first. Nothing special...bar was very crowded...lively scene...mostly older (average age 45-60) people....mostly couples. The band was very good...but very loud! We choose from the Price Fixe menu for dinner. It is an amazing deal!! We both ordered the shimp cocktail for our appetizer, the wedge salad for our 2nd course, and the filet medallions with sauted shrimp for our entrée. We got our bread...and then waited and waited. About a 1/2 hour passed and the waitress came up and said they ran out of shrimp cocktail....and did we want another appetizer. So I got the crab cake and husband got the calamari (neither on the price fixe menu). Comp'd obviously. Took another 20mins or so for those to come out. Carb cake was amazing....calamari was cold & rubbery so was sent back. Our wedges came out, perfect. The manager came over to apologize & later the head chef brought us out some shrimp cocktail. Guess they had to "cook" some cocktail shrimp so it took a while. Then our entrée came out...which was amazing as well. Ended up with waaaaaay too much food, and went from starving to full very quickly. While we were really disappointed with them running out of the main and most popular appetizer on the menu, and the bad calamari, but the staff recovered well. We ended up with more food than we needed. We were not charged for our replacement appetizers, but they did not comp anything otherwise for the inconvience and the waiting so long. But that was ok....we were still in a good mood. The food was all very good....just the experience started out not so well. I would recommend it and would personally try it again. I judge a place though on the recovery of the mistakes....as there are always the possibility for mistakes! How do they handle it though? Sullivan's handled it well. Might just do the bar next time though!!

This place is great, the burger here is amazing! Along with the martini's! What's also pretty great about this place is you can order from a list of cigars and smoke in front of a fire place while enjoying your drink! I would love to come back here again!

Good: Thursday/Sunday nights $5 burgers with the best fries. Such a solid deal and the food is so bomb. Bad: Anytime other than happy hour if price is a concern. I went with my girlfriend and had to leave because I have no money. Very embarrassing, but I took her back for the happy hour and we had a great time.

I can't believe I am giving a chain restaurant a 5 star rating but really there is no denying the the AMAZING food, atmosphere, cocktails, and most importantly, a one-of-a-kind staff that has the perfect mix of humor and professionalism. These are the reasons I have become a regular at this one of a kind steak joint. To keep it short and sweet, the food is awesome, the burgers are the best in tucson, and you can quote me on that... infact I will quote myself on that "These burgers are the best in Tucson" -Brian Z ...Boom. The cocktails are out of this world, cucumber martinis, knock out punch, each one better than the last. but the best part has always been the atmosphere and service. Walking in you see low lighting, beautiful decor, a fire place, and live latin jazz playing at the bar; which brings about a feeling of a 1920's speak easy. The servers are always witty and, cool, and are able to crack jokes (sometimes at your expense) while some how being professional and attentive. A well rounded restaurant that seems to hit all the fine points perfectly. Overall: As long as you are willing to pay the price, Sullivans has the perfect atmosphere for the fine dining steak joint, cocktails that will shatter your perception of reality, and a cool atmosphere that will make you feel more suave than Sean Connery wearing a suit made from the "most interesting man in the world" Dos Equis guys' beard. If you got a guyor gal to impress, this is the place to be.

Sullivan's knows steak, and does it better than almost anyone in town. Their NY strip tops almost any I've had except Ruth's Chris. The food is, in fact, reliably excellent, and their wait staff is young but well seasoned like their mashers. Their patio has the strongest, coldest misting system in town, by the way. The new El Charro could benefit from a meet and greet with that contractor. The bar menu is also reasonable and the portions surprisingly large. The tavern steak is delicious. The bartenders use fresh ingredients, and the difference between fresh and juice box style is enormous. The jazz ensemble is talented but fer chrissakes turn it down. Businessmen give away their secrets because they have to shout...

Sullivan's is the best steakhouse I've been to in Tucson. It is very elegant and the service is top notch. I had their Chilean Sea bass and their Porterhouse steak. Sullivan's is about 50 dollars a person depending on what you order. If you ask me, it's worth the price. Not a place i'd go to every week, but I come here about once a year and splurge on steak and their delicious sides. Their calamari was out of this world. It is served with a spicy Thai sauce. I can easily say it's my favorite calamari of all time! The dessert is also killer! I'm a sucker for Bananas Foster, and they have the nearly perfect version in my opinion. If you want to take your special someone here for a romantic dinner, this place will be more than perfect!

I've been to Sullivans many times - both for date night dinner & for drinks at happy hour, and I 100% LOVE it!!!! If you dine-in, it's absolutely amazing! The service is stellar, the food is melt-in-your-mouth amazing, and the ambiance is beautiful! Happy hour is a totally different vibe, but still great! Its in the bar area and they do a "jazz" happy hour on Thursday nights. The music can be a little loud (hard to hear your friends), but I like live music so I'm into it. My only complaint would be that the happy hours are so crazy sometimes that the service suffers a bit - you may be waiting 10+ minutes for a drink! Sit at the bar for faster service, and enjoy a number of food items on happy hour special, too. $5 for steakhouse-quality burger and fries??? Can't beat it!!! Try any of their $5 martinis, too, and you can't go wrong! Just be aware that prices are drastically higher during non happy-hour times (or in the dining room), as you'd expect at a steak house.

Awesome food. We weren't sure what to do with our amazing portions. The steaks were mind blowing. My husband ordered the special 'long bone dry rub' with sautéed mushrooms and i ordered the NY strip straight up. The tempura onion rings were a little too hard, but the white cheddar taters were baller. I was a little intimidated by the intensity of the service. It was good, but a little too attentive. Maybe thats how snobs like their service but I'd rather take my time.

For me, it's hit or miss with this place. I've been a few times for happy hour, and while the specials were great, the service was HORRIBLE. I was ignored for so long that I got up and walked to the bar to order myself a drink. My boyfriend took me to dinner here for my birthday, and we weren't too impressed. My boyfriend could of made the steak better, and everything was WAY overpriced. For what we were paying (actually, for what my boyfriend was paying, lol) I expected to be blown out of the water by the food gods...but not so much. On a better note, the grilled romaine salad is absolutely fantastical! ;)

Probably has the best martinis in town, especially during happy hour. The Knockout is one of my favorite drinks on their menu and the burger is always cooked exactly how I order it. Great spot for formal dinners or happy hours.

Sullivan's is a great steakhouse. First of all, they have live jazz I believe on Thursdays and sometimes on the weekends. A little salon area where you can go relax, have some drinks and listen to live jazz in a very intimate setting. Great ambience here all around. I really like their steaks as they give you very thick cuts instead of long leaner cuts. My kind of meat. Always cooked to perfection as well. My dad came here with me one night and even he enjoyed it. He hates just about everything.

Sullivans is a nice change for Tucson however a bit overpriced. Ive been here a few times and the food never really impressed me much. It lacks artistic presentation and is your run of the mill overpriced steakhouse. For the prices and selection of meats, I expect nice garnishes, great tenderization and cooking to ensure texture of food is on par. I ordered a simple Caprese salad (I believe its called the tomato mozzarella with balsamic reduction) and it was great except... a bit on the bland side and lacking a fair amount of reduction sauce on it (even on the size, even extra drizzle... nada). It was just tomato hunks and mozzarella hunks. no basil hunks either! :( The oh so trendy to order Chilean Sea Bass was good. Mediocre for the price. It was extra salty and very bland as well. The asian inspired sauce on the side was not a great mix for this fish nor was it amazing on its own. Our waiter Jeff did have a nice knowledge of wine as far as my weak level of wine knowledge goes to get impressed. My friends both ordered the sliders/burgers (off menu but its a bar menu item) and were very very happy with them. They said its great to go for happy hour when its 1/2 off. Deal ! With that advice given to me, only go when its 1/2 off happy hour and order a burger at the bar. Don't get the skewers or anything else. You'll only get the quantity of a tiny nibble. Oh. and try to sweet tea mixed drink. dont let the name fool you. its not too sweet and enough to trick you into many rounds.

Disclaimer: this is a review of the lounge/bar area only Yummy signature drinks, "the knockout" is my favorite, while relaxing with good company and listening to jazz (certain nights only) is a perfect evening in my book. The bar menu items are a tasty addition if you are in the mood for a bite to eat. The scene is relaxed yet upscale when compared with others in the Tucson area. Check it out and if it's not for you then head up to La Encantada (a five minute drive) for a bigger selection of swanky lounges and eateries.

My husband and I had dinner at Sullivan's last night. It had been a few years since we'd been to Sullivan's, mostly because we feel that the prices are as expensive as Fleming's but the food and the service do not even come close. This visit did not change my mind of that fact...They had mailed me a gift card for $25 off dinner, so we decided to give them a try again. We did not have a reservation, but they got us seated almost immediately. The wine list is definitely geared towards bottle purchases, however- being in the midst of holiday shopping, we were not wanting to order a whole bottle. The "by the glass" offerings are found at the end of the wine list. Why not at the beginning? I surmised it was because they are trying to push bottle sales, and the fact that it's a chain solidified that idea in my mind. I ordered a $10 glass of Cabernet from Sonoma, which my husband wanted to taste (and then he was planning to order his own glass of wine too). The wine was okay, but in my opinion- quite dull and even a bit acidic. Definitely not as good of a wine (for a house Cabernet) that a steakhouse charging an average of $40 for a steak should have. Incidentally, the least expensive glass of wine is $9, and they range up to $15. My first disappointment definitely was the lack of choices for "by the glass offerings." When we ordered our entrees, the waiter said, "I'll bring you some bread," which he never brought. By the time we were half way done with our salads (I had Caesar and my husband had the iceberg wedge), I had to flag down the bus boy to bring us bread. In my opinion, the salads were the best part of the meal. They were very flavorful, with just the right amount of dressing. Since they were ordered as part of the meal (Chef's selections), the meal came with a small salad. Another notch towards disappointing service though was having to ask the busboy for the bread, and the waiter failing to return to ask my husband which wine he wanted to order, or if he wanted to order wine. He may have assumed that we decided to share one glass. But waiters should not base their service on assumptions. For the main courses, my husband ordered the New York, which was a hefty size portion, but at a hefty price too, $39. The behemoth piece of meat came out on a large plate with nothing else on it. Hmm.. $39, for a steak in Tucson? I know Sullivan's is a chain, but I felt like I could have been in New York city for these prices, and what about putting a few veggies or some potatoes with the meat? My husband didn't seem too enthused about his steak. His only comment was, "It's pretty average." I had the meatloaf, mostly out of curiosity because it said it was topped with a Bearnaise sauce, which I had never had on meatloaf. For $24, it was quite pricy too. The flavor was good, but a bit too sweet, and tasted like sugar and powdered onion soup mix, and overall ended up being way too rich to eat more than a few bites of. I ate less than a third of it, and my husband ate less than half of his steak, yet the waiter didn't seem to notice that either... We had also ordered a side of creamed spinach, which was flavorful- but way too much cream and not enough spinach. It was also room temperature/borderline cold. Now that I think about it- our food was not served hot, so I don't know if it was sitting on the line for a while. The spinach is listed at $8 on the menu, but we were charged $8.50 on the check. Annoying... I hate when restaurants raise their prices and you don't find out until you get the check. Who would complain over .50 cents though, so I suppose it's cheaper for them than reprinting the entire menu? Still, I find it annoying- and I expect more from a "fancy schmancy New York sort of place." Incidentally, this bait and switch pricing happened to me the last time we had gone to Sulllivan's, but with wine being priced less on the menu than we were charged. The difference was more the last time (about $3 for a bottle). Maybe they decided, "let's raise our prices very small amounts- so if someone notices, they are less likely to complain." The best thing the waiter did was to remove the crumbs from the table after he cleared our plates. If he had not done that, Sullivan's would be getting only two stars from me. Bottom line, this place is not up to the same standards it was when it opened. The portions are way too huge. The prices are too high. The food is marginal for the price, and the service is sub-par. After saving $25, our check (with tip) came to $75. This was for two entrees, one side, and one glass of wine. I am not sure if I'll be back. I don't think the food or the service justifies paying those kind of prices. We ended up leaving with three big doggie bags, and enough food for the mother-in-law to eat for two days! In my opinion, if you are going to spend this kind of money on steak in Tucson, Fleming's is a much better bet.

This place is a chain with steak so good you don't care. It's very expensive so for most normal people dining here will be a rare occasion. But you won't be disappointed. Our experience with the service was great as well. The server was a young guy who could have been a high school kid, but man he knew everything about the menu and the wine.

So disappointing, I used to love this place. Decided to go without red meat for awhile and opted for the salmon, bad idea. Ended up losing my whole weekend due to food poisoning from this place. If you go to Sullivan's stay away from the fish. Did originally post a longer review of my experience and was contacted by management though, that was nice but still, won't be returning.

When I arrived, the music in the dining room was a bit on the loud side, so the hostess directed me to the bar area where there was a piano and bass jazz duo playing and playing fabulously. That set the tone for a fantastic evening. The waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and fun. She offered suggestions without being pushy and helped me decide what to order from dozens of attractive options. Ultimately, I went with a crabcake appetizer which was all crab and no oily breading... delicious! The wedge salad with bleu cheese hit the spot. The potatoes au gratin side was terrific, but it was the 8oz fillet mignon (with sauteed mushrooms) that was the star of the show. One of the best cuts I've ever eaten! I'm just visiting Tucson for a few days, but I'm going to make a point of coming back!

At Sullivan's, there is skipping and there is hitting. Skip the overpriced, too-sweet cocktails, skip the bread (it's like a giant Subway roll - ick), skip the appetizers. Skip most of the sides except the creamed spinach. Skip the extras that you can get with your steak, especially their "special" Oscar sauce. Gross. Hit the steak. Hit it hard, hit it rare, hit it with everything you've got. It comes with an iceberg wedge, so hit that, too. Then get out of there quickly before the chemical scent of birthday sparklers makes you want to pass out.

For those of you that go for happy hour, make sure you sit in the bar area. Our group was new and didn't know that. We almost sat in the main dining area! Also, if you go with a group like I did, try talking to the manager because the place is PACKED. He was so helpful and cleared a table for us. $5 house red wine: It was good the first couple of sips, and the last few I started sputtering in my glass. I'm not much of a wine drinker though, so what do I know? The strawberry martini was a bit strong, but the blueberry lemon drop martini was so amazing. This is what alcohol should taste like! $3 gnocchi (you really can't beat the prices) This is both the cheapest and biggest gnocchi (size, not portion wise) I've ever had. It had a creamy sauce that was delicious, but it was a bit on the dry side - I'm guessing due to the large size. WHATEVER though! It was three bucks! $4 (I think) chips with bleu cheese dressing This was AWESOME. I'm not a huge fan of bleu cheese but decided to try it on a whim. It's one of those things you want to share with a friend though, because I got sick of it after finish about half. Major downside: we waited for maybe an hour and a half for our orders!! Upside: Great place to chat with friends and grab a drink.

This place is very good and relatively affordable for a quality steakhouse. I've been here a handful of times and have always been happy with the quality of food and service. Recently I was in the area and did Morton's in Phoenix one night and came here the very next night. I had the bone-in ribeye (really is there any other cut of meat?) at both places and believe it or not, I think the Sullivan's steak was actually better! My one recommendation is if you come to a Sullivan's and have never had the knockout, make sure you have one but be warned, it is a very smooth drink and you wouldn't know it while you're drinking it, but it packs a huge punch!

Well took my folks here for my dad's birthday and it was a great dining experience. ..expensive but great. Good thing birthdays are only once a year! Ambiance - 4 Stars Menu - 4 Stars (wide selection of beef, pork, and seafood) Service - 4 Stars Price - 2 Stars (just a little over the top for what you're getting) After ordering some wine, we started with the Oysters Rockefeller and they were just perfect - fresh and succulent. Our next course was the lettuce wedges with blue cheese dressing and it didn't disappoint being the blue cheese dressing had a Roquefort taste to it (very distinct). My dad had the chef's evening special of three filet mignon medallions each with a different topping (crab, blue cheese & fried onions, and hollandaise sauce), and it was excellent. My mom and wife ordered from a menu supporting National breast cancer awareness ($39.95) with some proceeds going to the charity. They order a salmon fillet and shrimp dish which both were fantastic...I tasted :) I had the bone in KC cut which was cut to perfection, a flavorful cut of meat. We all shared side dishes, creamy horseradish mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and crab fried rice. While the horseradish mash potatoes were bold and distinctive, the creamed spinach was the table favorite. A great venue to experience wonderful dining while celebrating special occasions.

Hello! Steaks, Martinis & Jazz, I'm in! From the restaurant with a menu to make your eyes water to the live entertainment and the outside patio, it will be hard to find a better place in Tucson to have fun with your friends. Whether is is a fine dinner or chilling with some cool jazz, the service is top notch and the place is a where a lot of business can happen. Plan on an evening, get there early if you want to chill at the band. This place gets 2 thumbs up both times I visited. It is a step above!

I wouldn't consider Sullivan's top-notch. I wouldn't consider it one of the best Steakhouses in Tuscon. The food is highly overpriced for the lack of creativity, passion and inspiration it's missing. The portion to price ratio is not worth it. I am sure for the area it is considered quite trendy, but hardly by big city standards. The cocktails were okay, not at the level that it should be for the caliber of restaurant it is trying to establish itself as. The decor indoors- beautiful; warm, stately, masculine... Blues quietly playing in the background. Nice. The place is clean and neat, well cared for. We came late in the evening and sat outside to listen to the last set of the Jazz band playing that evening. They were a local group, but decent. Salad a bit old, dry, miniscule. Steaks hardly flavorful, and a bit overdone... I like well-done. Dry. Chewy. Bland veggies. Soggy. The service was attentive, and as a woman critiquing, maybe Sullivan's can get these waitresses to cover up some of their boobage? I so get men and the tip factor... but aren't they are trying to make this restaurant an upscale CLASSY Jazz place? Next time, if there is a next time, I think we will opt to eat dinner inside... no steaks, or have Dessert and Coffee in the front row of the band... We had to deal with several smokers on the patio, and that in itself was a real turn-off !

Paki player and I went here in december of 2008 on a Saturday night. This place was always packed in college and definitely out of our budget. So when we met up in Tucson last Christmas we just had to see what the hype was all about. We got there to be welcomed by an empty dining room at around 9:30 pm. Maybe one other couple. Guess economic times hurt Tucson fine dining really bad. I had high expectations for the steak, but it was okay at best, not at all meeting its hype. Great for steak in tucson, but not if you have had good steak in California or Chicago or been to Ruth Chris, etc. Way too much fat on the steak for the price. Also, I ordered medium rare and it turned out to be a little chewy and not as tender. Atmosphere used to be great back in the day when there were always exotic cars parked out front, live piano, and a packed crowd. However, it seemed way too dead now. Would recommend staying away from this place unless you are never able to go out of town on vacation where you could try decent steak. Did I mention that it is extremely overpriced for Tucson and overall in general the $50 per steak price does not even come close to the quality you would expect.

This is by far the best steakhouse I have ever visited. We went here while on vacation in Tucson. Their bread was freshly baked and had a great cruncy crust and soft middle! We started off with the Oysters Rockefeller - the parmesan cheese made these so delicious! The Long Island Tea Martini- perfect! We had their Caesar salad and both ordered steaks - ribeye and a porterhouse. They were cooked exactly as ordered and were tender and perfectly seasoned. I had Mac & Cheese as a side, my husband the steakhouse grilled mushrooms. They were both excellent. The dining experience was excellent, although a little loud since it was a busy Thursday night. The glass walled room where they keep the wine is a neat feature of the restaurant. The dim lighting was good for a romantic, intimate dinner. This place can be on the more expensive side, but we expected this when we picked the restaurant. For the quality of the food that we ate, it was well worth it. If I had the opportunity, I would definitely return! :)

I don't know if it is the food, or the company, or the fact that this is the restaurant we go to when we are celebrating something big( like an anniversary, pay raise, or the fact that we got a baby sitter) , but every time we go here it is special. The steaks are outstanding, and I am amazed that they can take a head of lettuce an cut it in quarters, stick it on a plate, and make it taste good. I really like this place.

My husband and I went there for dinner to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. Our server, Richard, made an immediate great impression. Throughout the course of our meal, he and other staff members made sure we were well cared for. Additionally, Richard made great food recommendations for us. On to the food! We enjoyed every morsel! We began with a caesar salad to share, which was delicious. The dressing was delicious, and lettuce so nice and crisp! Second, we devoured the BEST crab cake we've ever had. The lump crab meat melted in our mouths, and the sauce was mild enough and did not take away from the focus of the crab. Third, we enjoyed a dozen west coast oysters on the half shell. They were so fresh, and delicious. We couldn't get enough! Next, was our main course, the special dry-aged ribeye bone-in. The bone was (as our server described) like something from the Flinstone's! Haha...the bone was easily a foot and a half long, and the meat it was attached to was the best steak we've ever had. Mind you, we live in LA where there is no shortage of amazing cuisine, but this wonderful gem in Tucson, AZ beat all the steak houses in LA by a mile! In addition to the steak, which we split, we shared a side of delicious sauteed spinach. We then asked for a side of the truffle butter, just for fun! WOWSER! Not that it needed it, but we dipped the steak in it, which just blew our minds. Now for the finale, dessert! My personal favorite! In honor of our anniversary, our server graciously offered us a complimentary dessert of our choice. When he noticed my husband and I were divided about what we wanted, he offered us each our own. So, my husband ended up with bananas foster bread pudding, which he would have totally devoured, had I not pulled it away from him after a while to save him. I had the coconut cream pie, which was quite a sight. The whipped topping was piled sky high, and just melted in my mouth. I will be dreaming about Sullivan's until my next visit. A+ rating!

  • Love good eats k.

I went to Sullivan's last weekend while I was in Tucson. I'm from LA and have tried many different steakhouses, but the Cowboy steak I had here (cooked medium rare) may be the BEST steak i've ever tried!! It was so tasty and juicy! yummmmm We had a side order of Asparagus and Mushrooms, and both were very good. Even the salad that came with the meal was awesome! I'd love to go back again!

I came here for guys night out so I can't write on the food, only the lounge. Cool scene, nice sophistication (which is quite rare in Tucson) and a relaxed decor. However the wine list (at least by the glass) was rather disappointing and after asking for Silver Oak Cab Napa the bartender left only to ask 2 other people.... I'm no wine snob but c'mon, Silver Oak is like the Cristal of wine's, even if you don't have it, people at least know what you're talking about.

I admit it, the steak I had here was very good. About as good as the Prime beef we get at Costco and grill out. But the prices? What has happened in this country? People are willing to pay hyper-inflated prices for a piece of meat, and then more hyper-inflated prices for a potato, and incredibly hyper-inflated prices for a seafood appetizer? I would love to see a rebellion with people protesting this pretentiousness! Maybe we could get restaurants to come back down to earth with their prices.

We recently wandered into Sullivan's for dinner after our reservation at PF Chang's didn't actually reserve us anything but a buzzer. They were able to seat us right away which was good and the food was okay, but that was about it. My husband and I went with my father and stepmom. Between us all we had 2 prime rib dinners and 2 steak and seafood combo dinners. The prime rib was good, but the horseradish sauce was more of a slightly spiced sour cream than it was horseradish. My stepmom's steak came out undercooked twice (she asked for MR). All the other food (green beans, salads, lobster bisque, crab-stuffed shrimp) was pretty good, if overpriced. I don't think I'd go to Sullivan's again - just not enough about it to draw me back.

Im not sure how to rate this place, im not a steak fan, but what I do know is that if I had a billion dollars in my pocket, I wouldn't spend 17 of it on a salad. Im sure the salad is tasty. Im sure the ingredients are fancy. But 17 dollars!? Who the he'll do you think you are? Grrrr.

My husband and I had dinner there Friday, Feb 22. We sat in the lounge as the dining room was full when we arrived. No problem. I had checked their website before we went there and was having trouble bringing up the menu for the Tucson area. I now know why. They didn't want to scare people off because of their prices. I wasn't overly hungry as we had appetizers before we arrived. I ordered the spinach salad (which was supposed to come with hard boiled egg and didn't) and my hubby ordered the 12oz filet. Side dishes were $8-$9......now come on. $9.50 for a side of creamed corn. Please. This place is trying to think they're a 4 star restaurant and they don't even come close. 3 star at best. My spinach salad which was listed as having hard boiled egg (which it didn't) was very uneventful. My hubby "filet" was okay. He's had better. I guess my first clue should have been that their website didn't divulge their "prices". Big clue there that I missed.

NOISE, NOISE, NOISE!!!! ONE STAR BECAUSE OF THE NOISE!!! So, we had a ladies' night out last evening and ALTHOUGH THE FOOD WAS REALLY REALLY GOOD AND THE SERVICE WAS FINE, our whole dining experience was totally undone by the HORRENDOUS VOLUME of the canned music from the minute we walked into the entryway. We could not have any kind of conversation at all. We entreated the wait staff as well as the manager all of whom were very kind and all of whom did turn down the volume but not for more than about 5 minutes before it was blasting away again. Now, when the music is turned up, voices are raised and soon everyone is practically shouting at each other. It made me almost ill. I do want to add, for the sake of honesty, that I am no spring chicken and neither are my friends but I don't think of myself as an old grouchy biddy. I am very young at heart. The entire wait staff as well as the manager, who looked like Doogie Houser, are all very young and maybe it's just an age difference thing over there. I do wish they would look around the dining room and recognize that they are serving a very mixed age crowd and be a little more thoughtful. Some of us like to engage in conversation during dinner without the shouting. In any case, if I do go back, it's never going to be on a Saturday evening again.

The Sullivan's lounge is where the Friday crowd goes after North. I heard bad things from a trusted source so I had been avoiding it but I got talked into checking it out a while back. Lots of people seem to like it but I don't get it. I say we should find a better place to hang out on Friday. Remember all the people from North 5 minutes ago and a mile up the road? Throw out any of the ones you'd actually want to hang out with, take the same size crowd and put it in a space that is about 15% the size.

We have been to Sullivan's several times as well as to their competition, Flemings, McMahons and Kingfisher. The service is always outstanding and friendly and the atmosphere more fun, less stuffy than Flemings or McMahons. Unfortunately, I can only give it three stars due to the amount of salt used in each dish. The four main courses we had (filet, two ribeyes, one lamb chop order) were all oversalted. Very disappointing as it is so easy to let customers add their own salt. The meats were perfectly cooked, very tasty, but way too much salt. So sorry we can't give it 5 stars!

My boyfriend took me here for our 2 year anniversary. Before we even walked in, the complimentary valet service was professional and welcoming. From the moment I walked in I felt like a queen. My boyfriend had called ahead to make a reservation and let them know what we were celebrating. The hostesses were friendly and made sure to congratulate us like it was our 50th. We were seated immediately and were poured water. The waiter was knowledgeable at recommending dishes (I had the steak and lobster) and interactive, as well as funny (I like rare-rare steaks and when he brought it out he said that he heard the cow mooing in the back before they cooked it). The dessert was divine and even though the meal altogether was on the expensive side (two entrees, two sides, dessert, and coffee, +tip was about $200) it was well worth it, especially since it is a once a year celebration.

Great night out!!! Have been here a couple times, the bar is awesome with live Jazz before and after dinner and great specialty cocktails-Knockout!!! Dining was really good with an impressive wine selection and lots of by the glass options, knowledgable and friendly servers and even a table visit by the manager for no particular reason, friendly, good service. The steaks are great and good quality Seafood and Live Maine Lobster as well as Tails available......great specials too! Worth every dollar, my second time and will go back, great Sunday night bar specials!!!!!!

I'm rating the lounge only! (I heard the restaurant is good too, but overpriced.) This is a great place for really good cocktails and live jazz music. Thursdays there are appetizer specials and $5 martinis! Can't beat that! My fave is the chocolate diva. mmmmmmm The only thing though, is that it's a little cramped in there. They could use more space!
