It's been over 2 years since my last review of RJ's, and we gave it another try yesterday. I am happy to say we found the service much improved over last time. Our bartender was quick and attentive, the beer selection was really good, although their printed list was pretty out of date. We had the fried pickles, chicken tenders, and the beef and cheddar sandwich. All three were pretty standard bar food (except the tenders, which were better than most), but at least the portions were good, and everything tasted fine. There are televisions all over the place, most of them tuned to sports, so I know we will be back to catch a game sometime in the future. Not a dining destination, but certainly a decent sports bar.

Favorite bar in Tucson! One of the few bars that offers delicious food and friendly employees and is set in a clean, inviting atmosphere. The ambiance is relaxing and the bar has over 20 delicious beers on tap! They also has awesome daily specials on food and drinks! Great place to watch a game or meet a friend for a drink. Highly recommend!

Have been to RJ's Replays twice since my first time, what a turnaround not sure what prompted the change but I'm glad it did change. These last 2 times were so much fun the service was spectacular the wings and band were fantastic. Will definitely go back.

Great place to watch a game! This place was packed! They seemed a little short staffed, but it didn't matter, the service was still on the money. Lot's of TVs, cold cheap beer and awesome appetizers. What more could you ask for? I will be returning for sure!

First time visit on a Thursday night for dinner. Extensive menu for a neighborhood bar/restaurant. My wife was the only female customer in the place. Classic Replay burger was just okay (not very juicy) and nothing to write home about. Kaiser roll was fresh and the fries & sweet potato fries were good (for $1.50 more, my wife had the sweet potato fries which weren't even featured on the menu). The Diamondback Turkey Club was served on dry white multi-grain bread WAS THE WORST CLUB SANDWICH we've ever had; very little dried out sliced turkey meat, didn't like the taste of the bacon, did not put mayo on the sandwich as I requested, skimpy with the lettuce and tomato, and heated up (I guess to melt the cheese which was overheated and partially burnt)... not sure the turkey (a white and dark sliced roast) was fresh... kind of tasteless. I do not like a "hot" club sandwich. Nasty sandwich. The music was too loud (and we were the only one's in the dining room area for most of early evening, althought the bar and pool table areas were busy. Won't be back for the food.

Trashy waitresses! Bad food! Slow service! These rookies do not understand how to run a bar/restaurant. Located close to my house and I really wanted to like this place, but I've had 3 bad experiences and I'm done. Truly the worst Tucson has to offer, avoid at all costs!

Great place to be on Sunday mornings for football. Nice beer selection. Food is hit or miss. Maybe stay away from the pizza.

Fun friendly bartenders! The food is good. I go for karaoke and Ynot is the best!! Karaoke hosts are so nice! Manager is interactive and hospitable as well!

They charge a cover for a shitty band and a half full bar. Mostly just old dudes and girls that only look good in dim lighting. Who charges a cover in tucson!? On the plus side they have buck hunter and decent pool tables/cues. Lots of tv but do they charge a cover to watch football? Also their walk in was being cooled by a floor fan.

Buyer Beware! This place has had a Living Social available for over a year, my wife and I made the mistake of buying two of them late last year. Our first experience went fine, the voucher was honored and we received the predictably mediocre service to be expected from a midtown sports bar. We did, however, notice a group of people near us arguing quite loudly, and for a sustained amount of time over their bill, often waving a piece of paper in the air. We thought nothing of it at the time, sadly. Fast forward six months later, my wife and I stumble across the second voucher we purchased months ago and decide to return. Now, by this time the ''promotional value'' has expired and we are fully aware of that. So much so that the VERY FIRST THING we do upon entering the establishment is to ask whether they will still honor the ''paid value'', as they are required to do by the contract they entered with Living Social. The manager (or at least a tall, bald gentlemen acting as such) came to our table and assured us it would still be honored. Awesome, we thought, and proceeded to order up to the amount our voucher was good for. Couple hours and a basketball game later we ask for our check. Our waitress goes to fetch it and returns with a full bill and an explanation from her boss that we didn't spend enough to qualify for our voucher, and that we owe them the full amount. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We asked to speak with the manager again and he came to our table, sat down, looked us right in the eyes and STRAIGHT LIED TO US about ever having told us our voucher would be honored. At this point my wife and I instantly flashed back to that group of people so violently arguing over their bill we saw half a year ago, and realized like fools that this is exactly what this place has been doing to customers for who knows how long. Don't be idiots, just don't come here. Even if you don't have coupons, I promise you that you don't want to be patronizing an establishment that has such shady business practices. It's only a sports bar, there are hundreds of others that, at the very least, won't steal your money.

Stopped by RJs a week ago to scout out a local bar to hit nearby my new residence. I was there only about ten minutes or so. It took me forever to get a drink and a shot and when they came the shot was tiny and the drink was so weak I didn't even finish it. The bartender was one of your typical beautiful but none too friendly gals w the personality and sense of urgency of a hook toed sloth. The good news is that the owner should be doin well. With the amount of booze they serve for the price they charge there may be an RJs on every corner by 2017! The Bambi is only a few blocks west on Speedway and it's an actual bar.

Well that was disappointing. I came through on a slow Thursday night and got the $6 special with pizza and beer. While the beer was certainly fine - the pizza looked like it came from Costco. Also the waitresses were rather poor in service and seems like they were hired based on their looks. I was excited to find a local neighborhood bar that closes late only to find it being served with mediocrity. I'm sure going to Buffalo Wild Wings would have been better and that's not saying much.

I had the turkey cheese steak ($8.99) which I found to be dry, didn't have enough meat, and far too much bread. The server asked if we wanted salads as our sides, (as in, to replace fries or whatever it is that it came with)...then charged us each $2 extra to do so. I didn't see anything about this on the menu...just looked again and still didn't find anything. It's not the extra $4 added to the bill really, it's principle. The U of A Smoking BBQ Turkey Sandwich ($8.99) was better... Took ages to get the bartender's attention when we finished our drinks..she even came to the well next to where we were sitting at the bar and it was still challenging to speak to her. I checked in on Yelp to get the %15 off...the staff had never heard of this, I said no big deal...but the manager came over and told us he'd honor it- got the bill and he didn't. Oh well. I would come back to check this place out for it's bar scene since friends claim to enjoy it, but I wouldn't eat here again.

I have been going here regularly for the past year. It was my neighborhood "go to" place. Recently I noticed the once reasonable portions have been systematically reduced to virtually NO meat on the Philly cheese-steak sandwich. I asked the waitress before ordering tonight if this was the new norm, or if there was just a new cook. She said she had no idea....I took a chance and once again a pile of $9 meatless bread was delivered. I asked her twice to mention it to Richard the owner who was sitting a few seats away. He never even acknowledged us. Maybe she did not tell him....regardless I am done and will NEVER be back. Save your money. You are better off with McDonald's or Taco Bell.

Fun little divey bar with a great drink selection! Smoking patio out back where drinks are not allowed but in a few months they will have a patio where you can smoke and drink at the same time! Jukebox with great tunes & pool tables make this place a fun spot to visit! I went there on a Sunday night and there was a few people in there; everyone was pretty friendly!

What a great atmosphere at RJ's! It's so laid back and comfortable there that I'll be coming back for sure. RJ's is fairly close to work so it's the ideal place to head for a drink with the girls, maybe catch a game or fight on the tube and just relax. I love that the owner cares about his establishment and is there all the time. The wait staff are really good and they don't ignore a nearly empty glass. Plus the prices are reasonable. RJ's might actually get me in trouble since it's a little too inviting.

Was looking for a small local place to eat and passed on several we couldn't agree to try. Finally decided to check out RJ's due to nearby location and some good reviews. I admit we were skeptical when we drove up, but we gave it a try. The interior is dark and has more TV 's than I've ever seen (we aren't sports bar enthusiasts), but it is immaculately clean, although not fancy . Lots going on: trivia, sports TV, karaoke nights, ladies' nights, etc. Big selection of draft beers. Food is appetizers, salads, sandwiches and burgers. We came for burgers and both enjoyed them: sliders on pretzel buns for him, black & blue for me. We'll be back!

Amazing rotating taps, good looking staff, and great pub food! I started with the Betty IPA and the chips and salsa. My significant other grabbed some cocktail off the specials list and she just loved it. Fresh chips and fresh salsa. We sat in a really out of the way spot in leather recliners and just hung out. Comfortable. Loud at times but there was sporting event of some sort happening so it was expected. Our waitress checked on us frequently enough and did her very best to keep us happy. After a few rounds we decided to share the daily food special, and were pretty impressed. Spicy shrimp tacos with fresh corn salsa and some other fun stuff. Lets just say we cleaned the plate and ordered more chips. Seems like it'd be great for big parties or even a night out w the guys/gals. I noticed trivia pads and a band setting up or karaoke or something, so there's fun happening. We really had a good time and we will definitely be back. This weekend as a matter of fact! Thx RJs!

RJ-Ridiculous Joint.. So we just flew in from Austin, TX. we read the reviews about food and beer. It was late so we ask the hotel and they suggested we try it since we missed dinner. Took a cab and arrived around mid-night. We were tired but hungry and could use a beer. I asked about food, they said that the kitchen just closed up, I asked about chips and salsa and they said sorry ..okay not a problem. We decided to order a beer (not shots, not whiskey, etc). The brunette bartender who introduced herself and the other bartender only minutes ago said that they could not serve us because we were intoxicated. The manager proceeded to come over with his tiny bouncer (funny). They were polite but it was pretty ridiculous, maybe they have never heard a Texan accent. Anyway, I guess it will be the laughing topic about Tucson now. Even the cab was pretty amused as we chatted until we got to Taco Bell (I know but it was late).... It was a pretty humorous night, there were drunk guys being loud and well drunk at the pool tables and I guess they didn't like the way we sounded. Did I mention the tiny bouncer... It was a waste of a cab fare, if you are from out of town, don't waste you time here.. Austin, Texas

I only give it 4 stars because of the live bank karaoke on Wednesday nights with no other than the members of 80's and Gentlemen. This is a fantastic idea and was a lot of fun. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. However, do not order the food. The pizza slice tasted like burnt cardboard and the wings tasted like they were out of a bag from Fry's.

Good beer selection, decent prices, great bartenders. They have pool tables and a neat lounge area in the back. As a music venue, however, RJ's is weird. The stage barely fits a drum kit, which means most of the band rocks out on their instruments on the floor, just feet from the patrons.

I was killing time and stopped into RJ's to have one beer. Richard, the owner, recognized me from previous visits... and Yelp reviews. As I sat he came over and greeted me. I ordered my beer and what came next is likely the best experience I have ever had in a food and drink related establishment. He knew I was a beer fan and talked about what they have on tap and also some bottles that they have. He then brings me a glass of beer and shows me the bottle it was poured from - Iron Fist Uprising Tripel IPA. Is this for me? It sure is. He warns me about the 12% ABV on this beer. He goes on to mention that they had the Nebraska fan group in this day to watch Nebraska vs. Michigan . Especially for the Nebraska fans they had a dish called Runza, which he described as a Nebraska Hot Pocket, with beef, pork and cabbage inside pizza dough and, obviously, baked. He claims no one else in Tucson has it. I believe him. I have not seen it before. As I am finishing my (very tasty, very free) beer. He brings me a plate with before-mentioned Runza. What? I didn't order this. He says I have to try it because you can't get it anywhere else in town. This is also very delicious and very free. I. am. blown. away. I wasn't even hungry, but I ate it all. If I walk into your place of business and you treat me like this when I've done so little to deserve it you are gonna get five stars. It's as simple as that.

This review is based on atmosphere, service and drinks. We did not eat, so I cannot speak for the food. But I have heard the food is as good as you can get for bar food. Beer was cold, tv's were too many to count. HOT servers and bartenders (just sayin'). Great service, manager was present and greeting tables, changing channels, talking to lots of guests. Really great bar atmosphere. If you want to watch a game or fight on a clean, fun local bar, THIS is the place!

Wow, not your average dive bar, sort of cleaner, and more divy? (is that a word?) I don't even know where to start. The bartender completely ignored be sitting at the bar for like 10 minutes, then realized it and apologized, but still, that was such a long wait. They were playing 1980's wrestling on the big screen at my end of the bar. Ironically funny, maybe. But the guy next to me was WAY into it, like it was the coolest thing ever. He was actually trying to explain to me the "cool moves" while I was trying to ignore it. I finally had to get up and move to the other end of the bar. The beer selection was great. The prices weren't bad. I didn't try the food. And, I'm not going back, it just completely wasn't for me.

  • Lee R.

Sports on the TVs and a decent staff. Plenty of room for larger groups. The pool tables were covered up, so I guess I was just there too early. And so I did not see a live band; I don't know if that would have changed my perception of the place. I sat at the bar and was take care of. The food was ok, but the beer selection was great. That is far and away the selling point for my experience. Which is a good selling point, because no matter when you stop in that is still true.

Ok, so this my first visit in awhile, and I have been there about a dozen times all together. I went Sunday after golf, just wanting to relax and enjoy pizza, wings, and beer. We get there, and the waitress knew nothing about the beer. NOTHING. How are you going to try to be a gastro pub and not know anything?? And the waitress had no training, so instead of ripping her, Ill rip managment, because its their fault. As we wait for the pizza, you would figure the wings would come out. Nope, wrong!!! As she bring us the stuff for the pizza, we ask her about the order of wings and she replied "yes I ordered them" with a attitude like we were dicks. Well the pizza came and no wings, and that's when service really fell off. Refilling water glasses is a standard, should not have to ask for it. Actually hown do you not serve water to everyone anyways, or is it just me? So about mid way through eating, she informed us that they forgot about the wings. I told not to worry and we do not want them. I noticed her telling her manager that and he glared at us from a far while he took it off the bill. No apology or nothing?!?!? That's what causes people not to come back. If you forget, ok fine, we all have bad days. As a manager, you go taln to your unhappy customers. I heard this place is owned by the same people at Tens, and it shows. Titties hanging everywhere, shitty customer service, and a staffed under then influence of a downer for sure. Sorry RJ'S, you dont deserve my money!!!

Stopped by for one drink last Saturday to meet friends/family during the U of A game (lots of televisions). Have to say the husband and I were pleasantly surprised with the place. Nice variety of draft beers and food looked decent (from what I could see on surrounding tables). Clientele was diverse and service seemed friendly. Did not have occasion to visit the restrooms but the bar itself and patio appeared clean and maintained.

This place has awesome Bloody Marys. The live music on the Friday night that I went was deafening electric-guitar Kryptonite to my ears...my fight or flight instinct kicked in despite the tasty libations. I will return for another delicious, spicy Bloody Mary...just not on a Friday after 8ish...just in case.

Sat for 40 minutes at a bar table and was never checked on or acknowledged by any of the cocktail waitresses (who were too busy singing karaoke). All the men at the table next to me were well taken care of, but I can't flag anyone down to save my life. It's become a joke at our table at this point. The staff here are all female tonight. Maybe if we were guys we could place an order?... We are leaving now-- I never got a drink-- and finally a waitress JUST asked if I needed anything. Nope. We are outta here. And I already have my Yelp App up. Also I've been here before a few times and every time the music is up way too loud. Even sitting at the bar next to a friend you have to shout and lean in to converse. So loud!! Every time!! I think this was our last try with this bar, which is unfortunate because it's so close to my place! Got here around 10:15PM. It's now 11:17PM.

I have been to this place twice, it was within walking distance to where we were staying so we didn't have to pay for a cab or have a DD, but that is pretty much where the appeal stops. If we weren't within walking distance we would never visit this place. They advertise a huge selection of craft beers, yet they never have any of the beer we want to try and we end up with Miller Lite. I am not sure why they even have the menu of beers, it is pointless. The food is horrible, we ordered nachos and wings. The chips were stale and the wings were dry. The wait staff is slow to the point where we had to go to the bar to get our drinks and could hardly find our server when we needed her.

My husband and I were getting stir crazy from sitting at home, so we decided to go somewhere within walking distance for a few drinks. When we arrived, we had a hard time deciphering which of the unmarked doors was the entrance, so we chose one that was propped open with a chair. A younger guy inside, playing beer pong, asked to see our IDs so I assumed he was the "bouncer". We headed for the bar and a nice girl greeted us and told us Happy Hour started in 10 minutes. The Happy Hour menu is pretty great! 1/2 off select appetizers, 50% off well drinks, and $2.25 domestic and XX pints. My husband ordered the Coaches Frys-DELICIOUS. I ordered Chips and Salsa, & we shared crispy Spicy BBQ wings. We were very pleased with the food and beer. All was delivered quickly and hot out of the kitchen. The DJ was pretty good. He played a variety of country and pop to fit everyone's fancy. The volume was perfect as we still could have a conversation and enjoy the music. The building is nicely set up. It got a little busy around 11:00 pm and we were still able to maneuver around the crowd. It's definitely a college-oriented clientele. Casual dress. Overall we would love to make this our regular spot.

After reading all the reviews and knowing the area, I was quite skeptical about going to RJ's but my buddy wanted to go here because it is a Nebraska Cornhuskers bar. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised. The place was clean and fairly bright inside especially seeing as there were no windows. I knew the beer menu was quite extensive but it was nice that they had most of the beers on the menu actually there. The food was decent, nothing special, but not as bad as a lot of the other reviews made it out to be. Just do not go in there expecting gourmet food and you will not be disappointed. It is typical bar food. The service was good especially for how crowded it was. The waitresses are quick, friendly and know what they do and do not have in regards to the beer menu. I am sure I will be back for another Huskers game in the near future.

Check the game schedule before you go, if Nebraska is playing, don't bother. We went during a UA game and couldn't hear the TV's over the Nebraska game and fans cheering in the other room. It's a Nebraska fan bar, and we didn't know that before we went. We ordered the nachos and the chips were stale. They redid them for us, but when they came back out, it only had about half the chips that the first order had. The service was pretty good and our server was friendly, so no complaints there. The women's restroom had a little "mess" in one of the toilets. Ew. Once I saw that, I knew it was time to go.

Had driven by RJ's several times on my way to the gym and wondered if it was better on the inside than it looks on the outside. Let me tell you. IT IS. This might be one of the best sports bars in town or at least on the East Side. Tons of TVs and two VIP areas with couches that are only VIP on major games nights. There are several things that piss me off about places that call themselves sports bars. The top two: 1) Not knowing what games are on that day. 2) Not knowing how to get said games on your satellite RJ's staffers appear to understand this. My wife and I stopped in to watch our beloved baseball team and the waitress immediately found our game. She didn't have to go search for help, or stumble through the satellite guide. That's what sports fans are looking for when they go to a sports bar. An establishment that understands we are there to see a game. Servicing me my game is more important than servicing me food or drinks. Those are ancillary extras to watching my team play. A gentleman who appeared to be the manager came over later and actually turned up our TV to give us sound on our game. WHAT?!? This is something we would normally ask for, but didn't since they were piping the NBA game thru the establishment. An excellent gesture that was appreciated. We've only eaten there once, but the food was not bad. We've watched games at The Depot, but were shocked to find out they don't have food anymore. Home Plate is a great spot for MLB as well on the east side, but RJ's might be our new place

I have pros and cons to RJ's. First the cons; How in the world does a burger come out of the kitchen without the top half of the bun? Then how in the world does the server deliver it without noticing it? That's what happened when I stopped in for a quick burger and a beer. I sat at the bar and had to flag the bartender down to get the top half of the bun. The kitchen toasted the top half of the bun while I waited. Once it came up the bartender picked it up but stopped to rub her face in another girls boobs ( plate in hand ) before bringing it to me. Then never checked back to see if I wanted another beer or if the food was OK. Two bites or two minutes is the standard. This place is pretty much like every other sports bar in the world except maybe with even more TV's. I don't recall any big screen but maybe I missed it. A couple of pool tables and a stage for live music. The owner also has a topless bar so it's no surprise that there is lots of girls working there. The pros are that the food came out of the kitchen pretty quick and the burger was cooked to order. The same bartender that all but ignored me later waited on me quickly when I fist came in

RJ's is a solid stop for watching a game and/or grabbing a beer. Beer: Great beer selection. Many great choices on tap (including my personal favorite, Ruination - a must if you are an IPA fan). Ambiance: This place is generally packed for football and U of A games. Fun place to be if you are interested in a particular game - though the crowd can be a bit boisterous if either the Cowboys or Raiders are playing (which is a bit annoying if you are Redskins fan like me and your team is losing). Food: The food is OK. Just typical bar food with no stand out items. Service: OK. Some days are better than others depending on how busy it is.

stopped by Rjs to watch game on sunday the place was packed they had a great selction of TVs and games.the problem started when i wanted food and made the mistake of ordering the pizza wich they said would take at least 30 min it took one and a half hours for the pizza and i just kept getting excuses one after the other.when the pizza arrived it looked good till i bit in and got a mouth full of sauce they use way to much sauce. my my nephews and niece all scraped there pizzas of the sauce which i wish i would have.there service that day was hideous i hope it gets better i might go back to try it again but there are better sports bars out there that offer better service and food.will give it 2 stars for now if i go back i hope to see better service or they wll see the 1 star eventually.
