I ordered a slice to try it out before I go for a whole pie. I was curious since they won the Arizona Daily Star's Facebook polling contest as best in Tucson. I ordered mushrooms, Italian sausage, and pepperoni on it. It was good pizza. I could order it again. Crust was good and chewy. Enough sauce and cheese, not overwhelming amounts, but sufficient. Other pizzerias put more sauce and cheese on theirs. That's the way I prefer mine. Mushrooms were fresh not canned. Italian sausage was usual fare for pizzas, what my wife calls dog food balls. Not like the fresh Italian sausage you get at Grimaldi's. It was good pizza, but I wasn't overwhelmed by my experience as in "Wow! This IS Tucson's championship pizza." I thought for $2.99, the size of the slice, which was just a regular slice of pizza, was expensive. I'm still hungry. Not good. But for the $2.99 I did get three toppings. For comparison, No Anchovies charges $3.75 for a gourmet slice and $3 for a one-topping slice. But their slices are big. And for another $0.75, I could have been at least satisfied. Looking over their whole pie prices, though, I think they are very reasonable. Parking is very limited. Seating is also very limited. Good pizza. Just not my championship pizza.

This pizza was mediocre at best. It reminded me of papa johns and if this won an award in Tuscan, I could never live here with pizza like that. It wasn't bad but to win an award, I was very disappointed. Once the pizza cooled down, forget about it, it got a lot worse. I would go with dominos next time over ears Tonys grandmothers pizza

I've driven past this place for over 5 years and just now realized it was there. We tried it last night, and we'll definitely be back! Pizza: crust was great, nice and chewy without being too thick or greasy. Sauce was just a touch spicy, not too sweet, but could have used more. Combination of pepperoni, sausage, and olives was great. Wings: baked, not fried, which was a downside according to my wing-afficionado husband. Not bad for a pizza place, though, and the sauce was pretty good for a not-too-spicy vinegar-based Buffalo-style. Cinnamon bread: the bread itself was pretty good, but the icing was a bit odd-- very crumbly with large sugar grains in it, and a slight crunch to it. It improved a bit when you let it sit on the warm bread for a bit, though. Their specials are pretty good, and I imagine I'll be back for carry-out since it's a good change from the national chains.

Really not a bad pizza, prices are great, check the specials. Service much better over last six months. Not too doughy, and the sauce is more east coast, little spicy, not sweet, which I prefer. Wings are so- so, but not terrible, just nothing distinctive about then. Avoid the lasagne which is a store bought product and just heated up.

So Grandma Tony's is basically messy pizza for the stoner/hung over crowd and IT'S AMAZING! It's scary cheap (price), and an overall quality pie with some of the best crust I've had in Tucson. Really, it's pretty damn good. It's not some high class gourmet pizza joint. It's manned by cool kids who throw together a wicked good pie. Suggestion: Don't go crazy with too many toppings. Keep it simple, keep it classic.

East siders don't quite have the luxuries of midtown and downtown pizza places but if you look around, there's a few good places. Joining the ranks of the top pizza places out here in the sticks is Grandma Tony's Pizza. The thin crust is a nice compromise between standard crust and the paper-thinness of New York or midwestern thin crust. The toppings are placed densely enough to be in each bite but you can still pick up your slice and not have gravity ruin your day. Gluten-free crust is available. Rich's recommendation: unleash your inner Ninja Turtle.

We are thin crust fans and decided to order from Grandma Tony's instead of TIno's just to compare the two. We were very disappointed in our choice. The thin crust at Grandma Tony's is like a big pre-made cracker with ingredients on top of it. Sauce and sausage weren't that great either and the pizza was extremely dry and tasteless. Also ordered wings, which were mediocre at best and had no crunch to them at all. We'll be going back to Tino's on Tanque Verde where they have the best fresh hand made, hand tossed thin crust pizza that is full of flavor!
