Not sure why we decided to give Furrs a try. Had not been there in over 5 years but we were more than disappointed in the experience. I don't think a single one of us, a party of five, finished more than a couple of bites of anything we picked from the buffet line

Oh man what a ........ beep. I dashed in for some quick food as my other food choices nearby did not work out. It is very LOW level food. The meat had lots of fat and some was leather tough. Salads are saturated with dressing. This is a great place if you want to pack on 100 pounds in body fat. The service was very slowwwwwwww. I wanted to quit and just leave my tray but I thought surely another server would come over to help. Cheap price, cheap food that will kill you in time.

Always the same quality and quantity of food: very good at a reasonable price. Beats the Golden Corral IMO.

I enjoy an occasional meal at Furr's. It is about the only true cafeteria style restaurant in Tucson where you get in line and go down the serving line and ask for what you want and the servers dish it out -- unlike the buffet lines at Golden Corral. As for food quality, I find it to be good to excellent and always fresh. My favorite, with a great taste is their sirloin steak burgers and it is about the only place I can find good old liver and onions. The fish and Mexican selections are usually always very good. Price -- can't beat it and there is always coupons available in local mail advertisements which usually save you about $2.00 - or the cost of the beverage. The wait staff is usually good but sometimes the serving staff is a little rushed and try to rush you through the line BUT - you can always return for 2nds or ask your waitress to bring you more.

Gross, I went on a Friday with my boyfriend who wanted to take me to chilis restaurant but I wanted to come here because I had gone on a Sunday after church and there lots to choose from and liked everything I ate. But Friday was a mess. Food had no taste and there was not much to choose from ... Very disappointed, dessert wasn't even good .. Hated to not be able to eat all my food n see it go to the trash. I really tried eating. My boyfriend and I paid and the supervisor apologized and said that Sundays are best. We have decided never to return.

I have always loved the selection that Furrs provides. My husband enjoys the baked fish and I can't get enough of the fried potatoes and brown gravy. That being said, this location is far below standard in the cleanliness department. As my husband and I stood in line I made the mistake of looking up. The ceilings are GROSS. When we walked towards a corner booth we gagged on the smell coming from the bathroom/waitress area. It smelled like rotten food and it was wafting into the dining room. The more I looked around the more grossed out I got. This restaurant is in serious need of a face lift and new cleaning crew.

I will give this place a solid 3 stars because really walking into this place I had no idea what to expect. This was a lunch stop on our way back to Cali from Texas. It's mediocre cafeteria style eating. Not to be confused with Orange County style...like Lemonade, Urban Plates, or Tender Greens. You stand in a line, people serve you, the food is about the same as a school or hospital cafeteria combined. But I will say this, the rotisserie chicken was solid! Flavor and delicious. I tried the roast beef...it was...just meat. The mashed potatoes were of box standards but I enjoyed it with the canned corn. Their rolls are fresh and yum. Hard to mess up carbs lol. The staff was really nice as well. Told them this was our first time and they showed us the "ropes" lol Ah well we probably won't be coming back but it was worth the experience and the rotisserie chicken lol

Went here with my family and it was very different from my standard trip to a buffet. It was nice having waitresses coming up to you like a standard restaurant but still have it be all you can eat. Its the same price as places like golden corral. The only reason I gave it a four star is because the service was kind of uncoordinated at first. But besides that it was a good experience and their food tasted fresh. The ladies there made great recommendations for the food. I can appreciate the fact that they care enough to let you know what's good and what's not. I think I'd like to go back with family. ;3

Other reviewers have this place right, it is filthy. My dad likes eating here, since he's a big fan of buffets, but every time we have come the place is dirty. When you sit down, there's food all over the floor and the tables are sticky. How hard is it to run a vacuum through the place and wipe down the table? If it were cleaner, I would give this place three or maybe four stars since the food is not terrible, but they definitely need to clean things up.

Not a bad place, that is if you don't mind the smell of raw sewage. I noticed a funky smell upon entering and hoped that it wasn't the food I was smelling. Upon entering the bathrom i was immediately overcome with a very strong stench of raw sewage and allmost got physically ill, it was that bad. I asked a worker what the awful smell in the bathroom was and was told it was raw sewage i was smelling and that they were working with the city to get the.pipes replaced. Totally disgusting, won't be back.

Service was horrible, waitress didn't do anything, girlfriend found a hair in her food. When I went to check out I got an attitude from the front cashier for not tipping the waitress, which the waitress didn't do anything for us. When I tried to call and complain manager rushed me off the phone just saying I'm sorry every 5 seconds. I would like to warn you not to waste your money at this place, it isn't good and the service is half ass.

My friends and family know all too well my love for buffets. You get what you want, how much you want, and finish what you can eat. I love that you don't have to choose one item, and if you play the buffets right it can be a healthy and satisfying meal. Furr's is a cafeteria-style buffet. Tucson used to have a place called Lubby's two decades ago but they closed up shop. There used to be two Furr's but one of them closed, leaving this location the only cafeteria-style buffet in Tucson. First thing to note: if you don't read this, you might be a little confused on the process. The cash register is on your right, but walk straight past it to the cafeteria line. Grab a tree and utensil wrapper, and then you're ready to begin going through the line. Each station has an employee. You tell them what you want, and they get it for you. After you go through the line, you grab a cup and the drink of your choice. At the end of the line, an employee will hand a receipt with the time that it was given to you. After your entire meal, you go that cash register at the very front and pay then. Now that we covered that, let's get to the food and service. First off is the food, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The deli salads were delicious, the hot foods were flavorful, and the desserts were sugary-goodness! They make awesome fish dishes, and everything tasted like it was homemade and not out of a can. Right there, that makes Furr's way better than Golden Corral. Shout-out to the bread pudding for being an dynamite dessert! The service was commendable. Only one employee (the lady that handed you the receipts) appeared to not have the people's skills for the job. Everyone else, from the cash register employee at the front, employees on the cafeteria line, and the servers throughout the restaurant, had a positive and friendly attitude. Here's what technically makes it a buffet. If you want more food, you can either (a) go back in line, or (b) tell your server what you want more of. If there isn't a line, I would suggest doing that so you can see again the options and determine if you want more of something you had or if you want to try something new. If the line is packed, you can ask the server what is up there on the line and they should know it by memory. Demographically, the place caters to an elderly clientele. That did not stop my party from coming here and giving it a try. It was an outstanding experience, and I look forward to coming back in the near future!

Look when you are visiting Tucson for many of their great attractions and you have a family of four that is starving it doesn't get any better than Furr's baby ! $7.59 for adults and $2.99 for children you can't go wrong. $1.99 for beverage. It's a buffet with fresh food and a great variety. Chopped streak. Fried potatoes. Grilled fish. Salads. Desserts, which by the way my diabetic ass don't need, hahaha, but the list goes on. The employees are nice. They truly enjoy each other and all patrons that visit. The line is quick. Save yourself $1.99 and just drink water. The Furr's here in Phoenix ( Sun City ) offers the buffet for $7.59 but that includes your beverage. If you really want a soda bad enough at the Tucson Furrs don't fret any longer. The kids get a free drink with their buffet. Area hotels near this Furr's generally have a $1 off coupon at least they did at our hotel which was like a 60 second drive away and during the time we visited in May. Happy Eating !

Its cozy food that stays the same for as long as i have been going I love this place. This review is long overdue one of the best thing about furrs is its a family coming place. When you arrive it's a display of any kind of foods you love. They have a diverse mixture of salads, deserts, fish, chicken, meats, vegetables, and of course corn bread they have the best jalapeno cornbread your have to try it.

grandpas fav buffet. Not to bad all in all!! staff was real nice and always was asking if there was anything else we wanted for them to go get. I guess I am just not a fan of the normal buffet after eating at the lobster and crab buffet in Wa.

with my husband's family, i always end up at these very cheap buffet places. i can't protest because it's usually my mother-in-law that chooses. the interior was a step up from the golden corral, but the food was pretty much the same. very generic, cafeteria food. however, like mentioned below, for the price, you can't really get a better deal (if you're not picky about what you want to eat!) would i go again? eek! methinks not.

Alright so this location is not the best in the west I must say. I go there often with my grandmother and it gets the job done. We all want that bang for our buck and that you can get at Furr's. Food has always been cooked well and buffet line goes pretty quick. They offer about 4 different salads, Salsbury streak, fish, fried chicken, veggies, dessert, and some other items. Service definitely not good, on countless times we have kind of been ignored, but like I said if you are hungry it'll get the job done.

Low on iron, I got it in my head that Liver & Onions would be quite the nutritional coup. Unwilling to cook it myself, Furr's offered a way to have my liver and eat it too. Only problem was, I couldn't gag it down. Here's where the ability to ask for another entrée really comes in handy -- all you care to eat for one fixed price. Nah, it isn't great food. But I have a nostalgic weakness for cafeterias (see my review of Luby's) and I have to agree with Clark M., it is far better than Golden Corral or Hometown Buffet.

I come to Tucson a few times a year for business (I'm actually in food distribution), and I usually visit Furr's at some point during my visit. I give this place 4 starts simply for the value proposition it offers. Solid quality food at an unbeatable price. Staff is always friendly, and ample seating inside and parking outside. Sure, there are "nicer" places, and I'm not sure I'd conduct a business meeting there, but certainly nothing beats Furr's on St Mary's, and not at that price.

Furr's "ice cream" is white and cold and that's about the extent of the similarity. I'm from the Dairy State (Wisconsin) and we have standards for milk, cheese, ice cream, etc. It's against the law in Wisconsin to label something like Furr's watery, tasteless, machine-made stuff as ice cream. But on the other hand, their "Mexican" food tastes as if it was made in Wisconsin. Couldn't they add a little local flavor?

Honestly, for the price, you can't get a better meal. Far better than "Golden Corral" and "Hometown Buffet" for that matter. The food is hot and good. They have salad, all sorts of meat dishes, veggies, rolls, good iced tea. Being a young guy, this is kinda my haven to stock up on food for the weekend. I love the food here. It's out of the way (across the freeway on St. Mary's road) and it's really cool to eat here on a rainy day. I love this place!!!

This place has been here for years. I used to go very frequently. It has gone down over the years. But now they want almost 10.00 per person. Forget it there's a lot of other places in town than offer a better fare for better quality. The food is ok. For the price it used to be. The quality hasn't changed. Its just ok. But they keep jackin up the price they need to do something about the stench of sewage, and do some dusting its dirty. I wouldn't go back unless they drop thier prices.Fat Chance. So no. Sorry.
