Diabetics at Applebee's

Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for Diabetics:

If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

This bar and grill can hold some very big groups so be prepared for a lot of noise. This place looks crammed with seats back to back. I could look over and be face to face with someone at a different table. Our Waiter was genuinely nice and knew the menu but he never refilled our glasses, or payed any attention. Customer service was lacking. The food was good. The steaks, mashed potato's, and veggies were great. For some strange reason we were seated next to a a family who had to drop the F and S word in ever sentence. It's safe to say the atmosphere wasn't pleasant. I would only go back if forced to attend a B-Day celebrating, etc. I wouldn't go again on my own time.

Beer and wings is all I go for but if you want to go around 530 on a friday good luck. You'll be waiting for a long time. (Park Mall location) The kids love this place and its pretty affordable too. We ended up leaving and going next door to Chipotle because we were starving. The line there was wrapped around the inside and only a few people were sitting. Grrrrr....left that place too.

I went here on a Saturday night with a party of 3. We arrived around 10:45pm and were quickly seated. There were about 50 other people in the restaurant at the time. We were first asked to sit at one of the large round high tables, but I declined and asked for a booth. One was quickly cleaned and we were seated. I had one of their "new" sizzling fajitas (mixed chicken and beef) and the others had the Asian shrimp pasta, and some steak. We ordered a round of drinks - which unfortunately took about 30 minutes to get. I asked after about 20 minutes where they were and the waitress informed me they only had 1 bartender on staff for the entire place. A Saturday night with only 1 bartender for a restaurant with about 60+ people in there?!?! Someone needs to re-evaluate their staffing needs. The food was decent for the price. I didn't care much for my flour tortillas. They were about 5" and highly rubbery and thick. I much prefer the tortillas that are thin and have a yellow ting to them, than the bright white ones. I think they steam them, and thus why they are rubbery. I swear you could grab each side and stretch it out. The atmosphere was good and lively. They need to get their music down though. The songs they were playing were just too far out there. I think they have used the same looped soundtrack for the past 15 years? The waiter was attentive and had a good attitude. Overall it was a pleasant experience - tab for 3 came to around $60 with 4 drinks.

I am an Applebee's fan. I usually get the Parmesan Steak and Shrimp and a Maple Butter Blondie. YUM! Proceed with caution on that meal though... lots of calories. So, moving on... the decor at this Applebee's is super cute. I love the warm lighting and the rich colors on the walls. The service is great and the wait staff is really knowledgeable about all of their offerings. They host some really fun events there as well. Kids eat free on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (I think) is ladies night. The last time I went, there was a lady there with her two kids and she didn't have a ride home so the manager came out, got her information, and called her a cab to get home. For that reason, I give a 5 star. What an awesome thing to do...

Came in for lunch after shopping at the mall. Seated quickly. Ordered steak asiago & shrimp from the diet menu Med-rare. It was too tough to eat. Got Dijon chicken & portabello. Replacement came in lightning speed. Tasted good, but the after-taste is as if the broiler has never been cleaned. Also, since when is broccoli stems considered a vegetable? The server had no personality and I felt rather unwelcomed and rushed. I doubt that I'll ever return to that location.

This review is only for the bar area of this particular Applebee's. First off, the service was good, the food (appetizers only) was ok, but the smell coming up off the floor from the mats behind the bar was overpowering! I know where that smell was coming from because I once worked at a lunch counter that used the same sort of mats, and had the same horrible smell. It's from the moisture that builds up under the mats when they aren't cleaned properly. I'm not saying that the bar/restaurant isn't clean (I certainly managed to finish my food and beer without any hesitation), but the smell was too much for me to take. On a side note, the bar is really, really dark! A few more lights would have been appreciated.

I had an excellent experience here last week. There is a lunch happy hour from 11-3, a regular happy hour from 3-7, and a late happy hour from 9-11. So if you're not too set on a specific item, you can always order off the happy hour menu for discounted food. Unfortunately, if you want a non-alcoholic specialty drink, it's not half off unless you get liquor in it - ridiculous, right? My friend and I just got appetizers, and they were delicious - boneless wings, artichoke and spinach dip, and mozzarella sticks. Usually you can count on chain restaurants having consistently decent food, but these days it's more about being in a hurry more often than not.

Blah, this is why I haven't ate at one of these in like 3 years... So some friends we were hanging out with wanted to eat here and despite my general apprehension about places like this I went ahead and gave it a whirl. The place was chaotic, loud, in pure disarray, and generally unpleasant. We were seated and I noticed numerous distressed faces in my section, soon a couple left and about 3 mins later food was sat on their table. People had been waiting so long I actually witnessed tables staring eachother down trying to figure out how they were going to divide the food after they stole it. No one ever did it but I swear everyone in the section was considering it. A manager came over to apologize profusely to the table next to us for the poor service and long delays. Well at this point we were pot committed starving and not in the mood to hunt for another meal. Our waitress was some sort of space alien that threw out unnecessary personal information we didn't ask for at every visit. It was as if she felt she needed to talk to us to make us feel welcome....Just keep my drink full, check in on me, and make sure I am doing good. Interrupting our conversation to share information irrelevant to what is going is not only rude but everytime she walked away there was awkward silence followed by us laughing trying to figure out what in the world she was doing. Me and my wife did a 2 for $20 deal or whatever... The appetizer was boneless wings, we did honey chipotle and it was ok cooked properly decently sauced and had ok flavor. The entree I selected was steak and veggies with mash potatoes I figured that you can't mess up steak and steamed veggies...well I was wrong. I asked for my steak medium rare knowing that most these places over cook their meat and I would get it medium...worked out as intended my medium rare steak came out medium well....imagine if I asked for medium what I would have got??? Veggies looked like they were dehydrated who knew broccoli had white splotches and dry tendrils? Potatoes looked bleh.... Well I ate my steak got the check for the table and got a great reminder on why I don't eat at places like this more then I have to.

Let's face it. Most of us go to Applebee's for the best happy hour in town. I'm writing this review based off the happy hour menu and drink specials. This location seems to have slew of friendly bartenders compare to other locations. I usually just get the wings and they have always been good and satisfying. Tuesday and Thursdays are their wing day (served all day) I've never had a bad drink or a bad happy hour meal. I wasn't too thrilled with the cleanliness of the bathroom. I feel it can be touched up more frequently. There is no excuse for dirty bathrooms or an establishment as a whole. Overall I will keep going to this Applebee's I'm satisfied with the meals, drinks and service

I must admit I tend to like going to Applebee's but tonight the service just wasn't up to par. Yes I understand it's a Friday & it's the holiday season but it was t a full house & the bar tender was extremely slow; not to mention we had to send back two drinks for lacking in flavor!! Good thing my perfect margarita was yummy that's what warranted the three stars instead of the two star rating I was planning on giving! The food was at best mediocre.

The food is the typical Applebees. The service was AWEFUL!!! Let's start with our server was unfriendly, unattentive and acted like we were an inconvenience to her. We had flag down another waitress for utensils and she brought two when there was three of us. So we asked another waitress and her response was, "your not my table". Then our waitress asked if we wanted a refill as our drinks sat empty after just the appetizers. We won't be back.

I used to love this Applebee's. Unfortunately, the menu has taken a change for the worse. The boneless classic wings were an all time favorite; however, they were horrible my last and final visit. I mean how could they mess these up? They came with hardly any sauce on them and were mostly made of breading. I mean where was the chicken? We informed the manager, who was extremely polite, and he took them off our bill but I don't think we will be going back. By the way. The drink specials suck!!!!

First of all let me say there us nothing I like more than a good cheesestesk...and I've tried them at several locations in Tuxson. I've had some that were ok, some that were great and most of them that sucked. But Applebee's version has got to be the worst yet. If your gonna make a cheesesteak and have the nerve to call it a Philly cheesesteak it damn well better be at least look or taste like one. There are only three places in Tucson that can do that...the best is Frankies, the swcond is Jersey Mike's and the third is Philly's Finest...all the rest are crap and shouldn't be called a Philly cheesteak. Especially Applebee's!!! And I only gave it ine stsr because it won't allow you to not choose zero!!

Where did my favorite jalapeño burger go?! Gezzz! Can you imagine how disappointed it is that I left the country for 2 years missing those burgers but found out it's gone the day I'm back?! Margarita is as good as always. Appetizers yummy and fresh. Try the ribs. U won't regret! Good place to go.

I went with some friends and they were having a special on their $6 stuffed burgers. It sounded really good and it was almost half off for the mushroom burger. With angus beef I couldn't pass it up. The menu showed this awesome burger with this sesame seed bun....what I got was a joke. The burger was on a flat bun, the cheap kind you get in the grocery store for a dollar. The patty was super thin, and was NOT stuffed as advertised. It was a mushroom Swiss burger with some sauce on it. There was barely any sauce, I counted three mushrooms, and the cheese was all one side of the burger. The portion of fries were pretty tiny compared to my fiancé, who bought a full priced rack of ribs and got a butt load of food. I was hungry two hours after I ate. If they are going to run a special on a burger then they need to serve the burger in the menu, not some cheap substitute. The food was hot so that's a good thing, but it had barely any flavor at all and it was barely a mushroom burger. I was honestly expecting canned mushrooms at that point. I pretty much learned that if it's discounted it's because they take away all the good stuff. If I wanted a burger as sad as that I'll go to burger king and order off the dollar menu. Even those burgers have better taste. Disappointing. Not with the $80 we dropped.

Sexual harassment apparently comes free with your meal at this location. I called in to place an order and the Curbside waiter, Bill, proceeded to call me "Sweetie" and "Baby" while taking my order. I was so turned off that I was hesitant to go pick up my food. The service was quick, food was delicious..... Bill has much room for improvement. I will go elsewhere from now on.

I always have a great time here. The food is just okay, but the service and drinks are always top notch. Awesome happy hour with half price drinks and appetizers. I always, always order a Bahama Mama from the bar because it is huge and delish and during happy hour only costs a little over 3$..seriously this Applebees makes really great bar drinks, some of the best I've had in town.

  • C M.

This place is ok for drinks but the food is just kind of blah. I mean, it's ok, but with so many different (read as better) choices in Tucson, why bother with Applebees? I don't know... just kind of "meh" to me on the food. I would rather spend my money elsewhere.

I don't know if it was the holidays or what but the food was not good. The audio is delayed when watching the tv's, which may not be a big deal if you're coming here for mediocre food but it sucks when it's bowl week and UofA is playing. Avoid and go somewhere else.

So the past couple of times I have called, they stated that the "Curb Side Specialist" was out. First untruth. How can the curb side specialist always be out? So I called tonight and said explicitly that I wanted curb side service. They took my order than stated once again that the "Curb Side Specialist" was not in today. Starting to think this person never existed. And Would I mind coming to the bar? I was like REALLY? She quickly backtracked and said well I guess I can look out for you and took the info about the car and the color. When I got there and parked in the "Curb Side to Go spot" I got zero service. So I had my handy dandy cell phone on me so I called in. She then stated that "We can't come outside". REALLY? So I hung up and went into the bar. The bartender stated that "We can't go outside, its corporate policy." LOL I told him that is false advertising and they should just take the sign down if they are never going to do it. I got my food and went home and then got even more disappointed. My dinner mate ordered Three Cheese Chicken Penne and got exactly ZERO chicken on the pasta. I ordered Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp. The chicken was weird and not cooked right and the shrimp was overcooked. The wings we got as an appetizer were disgusting.

Applebee's has good looking options to choose from as far as the food goes. Really good intentions. My boyfriend and I went the other night and our server explained to us that she was training. Her trainer however didn't introduce herself to us. A while after we ordered our food, and way, way before we actually saw our food, the trainer finally came and told us that she was relieving the trainee. We ended up waiting almost 30 minutes for our food. Okay big deal; I had fish, he had steak... But the awful parts about this though is that a) our appetizer did not reach our table until we were on our last few bites of food, which b) seemed to us that our server had forgotten about, our fish and steak (which was ordered medium rare, and came out well) was all at a medium temperature and my spinach was dry. It was like she totally forgot about it and let it just sit on the expediter table for at least ten minutes. The bill came out to about $42 and we weren't impressed at all. This experience helped us decide we are no longer going to Applebee's. Our experience was horrible, and needless to say our server got a bad tip. We both work in the food industry and we know what it takes to make guests have a great experience. This was not one in the least. Thanks Raina.

I am normally hesitant to review a mega chain, but this is a gold star for Yoli, our waitress who dealt with our party with such excellence. We met to catch up and inhabited a high-traffic table for hours, which might have distressed a lesser heart. She was attentive and welcoming and served the young lad so many bowls of mac and cheese that his bottomless abyss was eventually satisfied. Great little happy hour menu, and the food is standard and worthy.

I have been here on a few occasions, this last time will have been the last. We waited 10 minutes to get drink orders, soda tasted like the syrup had run out. Fine ordered Iced tea, waited another 10 minutes. Ordered an appetizer which was never put in so we never go it. Food came out cold and looked just... bad. I had 2 bites and had enough. Complained and asked to speak to the manager.. he never came. I asked for our bill twice, waited 25 minutes and finally just left. I have never had to do that before at any establishment ever.

I'm not normally a chain restaurant consumer, but when mom and niece want to eat here, we eat here. Of the chains, this one isn't too bad. Niece got some kind of chicken fettuccine, mom got some kind of salad and I got an appetizer sampler. All were ok. Nothing fancy. Service was ok. Our waiter wasn't the best because it was hard to get his attention for drink refills, but he wasn't the worst either. We could hear other customers discussing their waiter issues. As I said, it was ok. I'll go back when they want to go back. but not before. It's just not my thing.

Applebee's, what can I say? I love their 2 for $20 deal. I have gone on many occasions and have never been steered wrong. Yes, this is a chain place, but when you are looking for consistency you kind of have to go to chain restaurants. This location is busy and if you are planing to go on the weekend, then you better be prepared to wait a minimum of 30 minutes. Spinach and artichoke dip is very good. Happy hour is every day from 3 to 7 and 10 to close.

We have been going to Applebees for several years because of the happy hour. The food is okay. But the half off all drinks is why we went. They changed and no longer have all drinks half priced during happy hour so not a lot of reason to go as often. The 2 for $20 is a good deal. The new Yardhouse that will be opening in the mall soon will be interesting to see how it effects Applebee? We enjoyed sitting at the bar for a good deal and a few drinks. Service is good.

I used to love going to Applebee's, but I guess I haven't missed much. The music is way to loud to hold a nice conversation. A kids meal was a baby size slider style hamburger and about 20 fries... WTF is that all about. The worst part is that the largest steak on the menu was a 9oz, a 9oz steak is basically a kid sized meal. The only thing I enjoyed was the Kilt Lifter beer and even that took forever to receive. The quality of Applebee's has gone way down. I will never spend my money at Applebee's again!

Convenience. That's the first word that comes to mind when I think of Applebee's. My friends and I have been regular customers for the past few years. The food is so so, we usually go during happy hour because of the half price appetizers and half priced alcohol. There really isn't anything that stands out so much with this establishment it's just convenient. The building recently got remodeled inside but it's nothing special.

One way to earn a low rating from a father like myself is to have a baby-changing table in the women's bathroom but not the men's. Each time I discover this, I'm tempted to change the child in the lobby or on the bar. Another way is to have painfully slow service and being far more attentive to several other tables while we wait for the slightest request. This location somehow did both. The food was good, but I was disappointed overall, especially with the service.

  • Corey D.

In my opinion there's only one reason to hit up a chain restaurant. Because you've hit bottom. Ok that's not really my reason, I actually think the reason people go is because it's consistent, which is exactly what I needed today, something I could count on. Now that "thing" that I count on is totally off a truck patties and frozen buns, but while devouring my burger, I didn't really think about that. I thought, "I knew I could count on you!" It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't the worst thing I've eaten this week, it just was! And I feel I need to single out the fact that staff at chain restaurants sometimes seems better because they have to go through a corporate training. My waitress today was lovely and she made me wonder if the local guys couldn't learn a thing or two from the big corps!

I'm not happy with this place, the service was slow. It took about 20 for the server to acknowledge that we were waiting. It took another 30 mins for the food to come out,and the order was wrong, nobody refill the drink, very disappointed.

Oh my gosh, I went there last night (Tuesday night) and it was SOOOOOOOO CROWDED and we had to wait for 20 minutes for our table. Then I looked at a sign and it shows "KIDS EAT FREE" Only on Tuesdays! I was like, no wonder why it was SO CROWDED! If I had kids, I would go there Tuesday, but it wasn't good night for anyone who don't have kids and waited much longer for their tables. I had Oriental Chicken Salad and it was SUPERIOR delicious!

We like this Applebee's the only problem is we get inconsistent service. Today was great service. We like how they have kept some of their favorites and added a few new items to the menu. Today my wife and I went for the 2 for $20 and my daughters just got a burger and a quesadilla. We had plenty and really enjoyed it.
