We decided to order a few items and share between the 3 of us. Cheese pizza was good with a sufficient amount of sauce and cheese. The meatball.parm was more a pile of ground beef on a bollio roll with a smidge of sauce. I thought the meat tasted a little freezer burned. The guys thought it was OK. I ordered a kinish...I asked what type...pastry or coney, the waiter said whatever it was they made by them. Welllll.....NOT SO! What they brought me was a commercially available Gabillas Knish. I like them but not deep fried so brown that it was impossible to cut, break, or chew. Might be worth another try at some point.

For Tubac, AZ this place gets 5 stars! I'm from NJ and their pepperoni pizza was some of the best pizza I've ever had!! Lasagna was 4 out of 5 as well.

For Tubac, the Peasant is actually a 5 star. However, if this place was in Scottsdale, Los Angeles, or some other restaurant hub, I would rate it at 2 1/2 stars. Dined 3 occasions, all supper time. The service is very sketchy. Huge, delicious pizza...the other items are less desirable. Even though the sandwiches are huge, they are fairly generic. The pasta is not my cup of tea. Definitely stay with the pizza!

The Italian Peasant is the best Italian food in Southern Arizona... Located in Tubac right off the frontage road next to the Tubac Market - this italian restaurant rocks. I love their hand-tossed Brick Oven Pizzas... crispy and flavorful... pizza crust is just the best and from a recipe passed down for generations in the owner's family. I think it's really fun that they've had custom made pizza stands made from rounds of mesquite! Really unique. They also have wonderful Pastas, Lasagna, subs, eggplant parmigian, meatballs, pasta dishes and more. Love their bread - watching the pizza being prepared at the bar and the super friendly and helpful staff. The atmosphere is very special and you can feel comfortable coming here for a very romantic date night or with your family and or out of town guests. The locals here in Tubac are going crazy - This place is so busy it has to expand already! Locals always know - just ask anyone in town where is the go-to place for italian food. Also opening for breakfast for the first time today... 5am - wow that's early but I just know it will be busy because these people know how to treat customers and prepare excellent food!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
