after a 14 hr drive... nothing is better than sleep. haha i tricked you. i didnt eat this at night cus of fatigue... however when i arose from my wondrous slumber filled with 8.0 earthquake like snoring... oh boy was i ravished. this place was the only spot open and i needed some hearty nourishment. the coffee kinda sucked. but the skillet breakfast was exactly what my fatass needed. got a veggie ommie with english muffin and nice crisp hashes. with some bacon and biscuits n gravy. the skillet... eggs and all was delicious... i mean damn!!! the english muffin with all the nooks and crannies was exquisite... however the biacuits n gravy sucked. service was superb. this spot is pricey but available. my buddy got steak but he thinks mcdonalds and yoshinoya are five star eateries...

This restaurant could have been a whole lot better. Didn't help that our waitress only came by to take our drinks and order. She did however have time to joke around with what appeared to be some friends of hers. Not to mention that she was mad at something but we got the attitude that came from that. She finally seemed to get over it as we left. The food was ok at best, I would probably give it a 3.5. Ribs seemed to be a little over cooked, chicken was not properly cooked for our salad

Went during Labor Day weekend and had a great time here. The waiter was friendly and brought out food in a reasonable time since it was pretty busy. The good was delicious, especially the Apple cobbler. It was amazing!!!

Started out bad, they would not allow me to carry a redbull in the restaurant... some bs about a liquor license. We will see how the meal goes.

We stopped in here for dinner, and we were actually pretty happy with it. I ordered a T-bone and my girlfriend had the ribs, we also had a couple of margaritas. The food was darned fine- my T-bone could have been a little thicker and at first I thought that it had been cooked medium-well, but once I got closer to the bone it was definitely medium-rare (which is what I ordered). Cooking a good steak is definitely more art than science, but they gave it a good try and it turned out pretty good. The ribs were actually *REALLY* good- tender, tasty, and not dripping in sauce. The zucchini on the side was really tasty as well, and their fries were light and crisp with a good flavor. All in all, our dinner here was darned fine. At first glance it looks like it would be a total tourist trap (which it sort of is, I guess?) but there are enough locals eating here to let you know that it's good. Our service was really good as well- at one point our waitress had asked how our meal was, and I mentioned (after a couple of bites) that the steak was a little overcooked. She apologized and said that she'd go back and get me a new one but I told her that it really was fine, the steak was still tasty. After a couple of more bites I saw that it really was prepared how I'd asked, and I mentioned it to her. She seemed genuinely relieved, and that was sort of nice to see. She actually cared about my dining experience, and that isn't something that you see too often these days.

While we didn't get a chance to eat at The Longhorn Restaurant while in Tombstone, it is definitely a favorite of locals and travelers alike. Located in the middle of Tombstone it is highly recommended for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Longhorn Restaurant in Tombstone Arizona is longest running restaurant in Tombstone. The building once held the Bucket of Blood Saloon, the Holiday Water Company and Owl Cafe. This historic location was also where Virgil Earp was shot on the second floor. With all the history the Longhorn restaurant has we recommend you pay them a visit and take it all in while in Tombstone. The Old West decor as it is really cool. You might even get a chance to speak with the owner, Steve Goldstein... we did and he even showed us through the state of the art kitchen. On our next visit, you can bet we will be having a few meals at The Longhorn Restaurant.

It literally took 40 solid minutes to get two burgers served and I'm still waiting on a steak that takes an hour. I think this will be my first and last time here

Woman in town recommended this place as the best place to eat.... I was very disappointed. The service was very slow and there seemed to be plenty of people working. Took to long to get drinks.... They gave us our chips and hot sauce long before our drinks but the joint had awesome hot sauce!!!! Hubby and I ordered burgers and fries. Not very good. You can tell they were frozen generic patties. My daughter had the southern fried chicken plate and said it was very good so for that reason and the hot sauce I'm giving 2 stars but when passing through again I will try somewhere different.

First of all, I am not kidding when I say this was the worst service I have ever received. By the time the Danny (our server AND cashier according to the lady who sat us) came around to get our drink order we had been sitting for long enough to decide what we want to eat. It wasn't busy and it took 30 minutes to get our food. Danny said he would come back and check on us in a couple minutes, but he came back 20 minutes later after our plates had already been cleared and didn't ask how the food was. Now for the food...I got the cowboy skillet. 3 eggs over easy, hash browns, 2 pieces of sausage, 2 pieces of bacon, and toast. I asked for all bacon, which I did not receive. The eggs were not even cooked, seriously it was absolutely revolting. The best part of the experience? When the lady who cleared my plate looked at my eggs and asked me if I wanted a box for them. If they weren't so bad I would have felt guilty about laughing in her face, but really. Would you want a box for these?

While visiting Tombstone from Phoenix, we stopped in to grab a bite. I was very happy with my ABC Burger, which comes with bacon and mashed avocado. It was perfectly cooked and was very good. The fries were also good. My bf seemed to be happy with his turkey burger also. Service was a little slow, but I'm guessing that's just a symptom of being in Tombstone, where everything seems to happen at their own pace.

We stopped in here on our trip through Tombstone. It's kind of a cool rustic place. The place is well suited for parties of two and four but four and over they have just a few tables. With our party of five (sounds like a tv show, but I digress) it didn't take too long on this day to get one prepared and ready to go. The downside is they have no where for you to wait but outside. This isn't a problem in AZ when it's usually always warm. Just know that in advance. We were seated in the back by the kitchen (that doesn't bother me it's convenient) fast service and great burgers (they have other items we opted for the burgers this day) Very tasty and great presentation. I enjoyed our table as we were a bit offset from the rest of the restaurant and it felt private. It was a birthday celebration of sorts and we all had to try the dessert which was very tasty and very filling. Recommend saving room for dessert. All in all a good time. I would try it again.

The Longhorn. Where have you gone to? Back in the day, I remember enjoying home cooked meals that where flavorful and enjoyable. Today, those qualities that made you memorable are no longer. Today's food is overly processed and dull. How hard is it to make fresh French fries? Or serving fresh bread/buns? Yes, tourism has brought more people in, but why skimp on quality vs quantity? Save yourselves! Go back to what you knew was good. Not what is now BAD! P.s.... Fix the front door!

The potato soup was worth the only 5 minute wait at lunch rush hour. They are efficient and get it right. Margarita ' are great.

Husband and I dined at the Longhorn Restaurant on a not-so-busy Sunday morning. We got there early, about 8:30 a.m. I think we were the third that came in, and by the time we left, two more groups came in. A couple of locals were in their eating breakfast, and we sat ourselves (apparently the norm during breakfast). The waitress was nice. She was very accommodating and checked in frequently to cap off our coffees. I had the french toast and added bacon. They made it perfectly crispy for me on request. The french toast was standard fare taste wise. My husband had the breakfast burrito. It was so big that it looked like a small baby on a plate. He said that it was good and that the salsa that was paired with it was very good as well. Standard breakfast. Chill atmosphere. I'll return here for breakfast next time I'm in Tombstone.

Great waiter (Eric) who made fantastic drink and good suggestions. He steered us beautifully toward the best tasting options, and we were happy with the food (loved the Dunking Burger on buttery grilled Texas Toast). He told us a lot about the area, answered questions about the geographical details and even a small inconsistency in a cool wall hanging by our table (depicting pioneers by a lake that was man made in the 1930's). Seriously friendly service, delicious drinks, good food- I totally don't comprehend the complaints. Dessert: death by chocolate went over well with our otherwise cranky 9 yr old.

This was a very interesting restaurant inside. The prickly pear margarita tasted delicious, but it could have been blended more. The food was very reasonably priced. We arrived at about 8 and there seemed to only by 2 servers working, but despite the large amount of people eating here our server was very nice and professional. The food wasn't anything special, but it all tasted pretty good,

We came here last night for dinner after a long drive to Tombstone. We decided to eat her for dinner and were met by the front door hostess. She seated U.S. and our waitress Sherry came to take our order. She was extremely helpful in making the right choices for dinner. My wife and I had the chicken Fried Steak and it was outstanding. It came with mashed potatoes and season vegetables. One of our sons had a full rack of ribs and it was outstanding! The other two had burgers and T-Bone. The entire dinner was outstanding and highly recommend it to everyone. Then Sherry convinced us for dessert and my wife and I had peach cobbler and the boys shared death by chocolate. Wow the cobbler was freshly made and it was astonishing! Highly recommend it! The chocolate dessert was also outstanding! In summary, the other reviews really help until we came and tried it ourselves. The food, the service and location was excellent. Hopefully this helps anyone else who visits Tombstone! Enjoy!!!

We chose this Tombstone restaurant simply because many other places in town were closed on a Tuesday. We were glad we did. We ate at the Crystal Palace Saloon two nights before, and even though we weren't unhappy with our overall experience there, we both felt The Longhorn was the preferable choice. Slightly better quality food, ambience, and more offerings were a couple of reasons for our preference for the Longhorn Restaurant. Our server, Sherri, provided us with perfectly gracious service, always with a smile. I ordered virtually the same entree as the one I had at Crystal Palace and found the Longhorn's offerings to be a better value.

Had a wonderful dinner with friends. The Canadian Cod was perfect. Crunchy outside but flakes easy, without being greasy. I choose sweet potato fries. They were served hot & tasted yummy. The zucchini was seasoned and grilled. I wish I could of had seconds. Another person had country fried steak and gravy with the same sides I had. Her steak was huge. She said it tasted perfect. Another person had tacos, with beans & rice. He said it was delicious. It must have been because his plate was licked clean! We all followed up with hot apple pie topped with ice cream & whipped cream. A perfect meal. The decor is old western and the building is historic. It sits in historic Tombstone. A great place to explore and eat.

This is one of the few restaurants at the center of Tombstone. They have your basic burgers, fries, steaks, and sandwiches. It is a bit overpriced and touristy (i.e., not exactly a cosy atmosphere), but that is to be expected. As for the food, we had burgers, pulled pork sandwich, salad, and a steak. It tasted ok, not overwhelming but ok. The portions were on the big side, so this is a good place to go if you are super hungry. The service was good. It was not particularly busy when we went. The waitress was patient when we couldn't decide what to order and checked in with us several times after we got our food to make sure we were satisfied with everything. She was also quick with the refills. Only minus was that it took quite a long time for the food to come out, even though it wasn't busy.

After having a bad steak experience at The Crystal Palace the night before we decided to give the Longhorn a shot. Good service and the waiter took our fillet steak order. Delivered fairly quickly. We removed the bacon wrap and cut or tried cutting into the steak. It was laden with sinew and had the tastes of 3 day old liver. Nobody came by to ask how our steaks were so that is a sign right there that they knew that a substandard product was served. We would rather have had nachos instead of this shoe leather they called steak.....and a tenderloin yet!!! I doubt if anything else on the menu is edible as tourists usually don't return to Tombstone and restaurants know this taking full advantage to make a fast Buck. Go elsewhere my friends!

This place was alright, over cooked food and a little on the slow side. But not bad for a touristy place. Pretty much the same as their restaurant Big Nose Kates but not as fun. Still had a decent dining experience.

So my husband and I came here for lunch on 8/09/2014 Vigilante Days weekend. It was pretty packed but we were able to be seated right away. It smelled amazing inside the restaurant. Do not recall our servers name but she was nice and tried to keep up with our table. I do factor in that they were busy of course. Ordered a side salad ( not worth it, skip this) $3.50 for lettuce and chopped tomatoes. Was not impressed but their ranch was good. My husband ordered their chimichanga... which I teased him about ordering that in a steak house. He did regret it, said it wasn't that good. I ordered their hamburger with au jus sauce! Do not recall it what it was called. It was absolutely delicious...... Very filling and I couldn't eat all of it, thankfully my hubby came to my rescue. Wasn't to overpriced..... 2 meals, 2 soda's, and 2 side salads were around $40.00 or so...

Always has great food. For this area it's one of the better restaurants. Over the years this staple in tombstone has always had great food, good atmosphere and a decent bar.

the building is awesome and a great sight to see inside but the service here sucked. i mean sucked like it made half of our party leave the restaurant. We had to ask them three times if they dont mind giving us some water while we order. it was 100 degrees out.side and the waitress was acting like if we were asking her to bring us a barrel. the food was good and it is the only reason why we gave a tip (specifically for the cook) i couldn't believe how rude they were. you would think since the town lives off of tourist they would know how to charm it up to get a good tip.

Good service and decent food, but it's nothing to write home about. Tombstones other more popular place was jam packed, and this was our second choice. The decor is really nice and interesting. I'd like to try out the other places first before I come here a second time.

We visited this restaurant and were very pleased. The food was good, the service was quick, and the workers were fun to talk to. If you go, try the Cheese Crisp appetizer - it was delicious.

Surprisingly OK for tourist trap kinda place. Wife had a fresh house salad, good homemade ranch. Chips and salsa were not great. Basic chicken tenders for son. He liked them. Daughter and I had burgers. They were big and ok. All in all, average, but better than we expected.

Great old western feel. The food was delicious, especially the chili and the apple cobbler. Actually the Apple Cobbler was amazing and will be hard to top.

The food was okay at best. Service was pretty decent. Tombstone is such a tourist trap that I hesitate to rate any of the businesses very highly. It's about ten dollars a person every building you walk into.

My son and I just patronized The Longhorn Restaurant in Tombstone, Arizona. We found it to be absolutely excellent and would definitely recommend it! My son and I both had their burgers -- both were superb ... very juicy! I requested the mashed potatoes to be extra warm and they did so. Service was fantastic and the decor was of the southwest ... very nice! Appreciated the entire dining experience and am looking forward to going back there again!

I ate here the other day and I ordered the southern fried chucked with mashed potatoes and veggies. I was surprised because the chicken was literally fried, with the skin. The mashed potatoes were cold and, just not very good. I recommend that you eat somewhere different.

Good selection - best of the big three restaurants in town. The place isn't formal, but I like the feel of it. If you have a large group, they have a big room in the back. Great menu and the food was good. Large, clean restrooms. Friendly staff. Attentive service. Discounts if you show them your receipt from Big Nose Kate's. Great breakfast & desserts. We ended up going here three times in two days since the other options were limited and this was the best available. Will definately go here again anytime I'm in Tombstone. They also serve the prickly pear margarita.

Pretty decent food and good service. Death by chocolate dessert... all I have to say.

  • Bruce M.

The Longhorn is part of a multi-restaurant/ retail business company and it feels a bit like you'd expect a multi-outlet company to be; which is to say detached and lacking any real personality, atmosphere, take-away experience or convictions of any kind. Service is minimal: drinks, order your meal, serve your meal, ask if you would like dessert, present the bill. It is not too enthusiastic or personalized and it is even devoid of much personality, much like the menu or business, at least pretend to care - this is Tombstone, we expect a show, extravagance, attitude, something to talk about! The food is, well I would rate it between 2.5 and 3.5 stars depending on what you order. Given the prices charged, I would like to see just a little bit more quality or more included with some offerings without having to pay extra; such as a charge for onions and peppers on the sandwiches and burgers or guacamole or sour cream on the combination plate. Adult beverages are also just a-ok considering the price. Also, if an item is on the "Special of the Day" board, please make it special . . . or different . . . or cheaper than what is offered on the menu. Each time I have been, the specials written on the menu boards in both dinging rooms and displayed in the windows are exactly the same offered on the everyday menu - at exactly the same price. Given the small number of restaurant choices in Tombstone, and even smaller sampling of international or ethnic cuisines available in here, The Longhorn is passable if you are looking for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and want a slightly different atmosphere . . . or if you need just to put the feed bag on. Overall: 2.9 Stars Food: 3.1 Stars Service 2.4 Stars Cleanliness: 4 Stars Atmosphere: 3.9 Stars

    (3)
  • K F.

Prices are high while food is just average. That about sums it up. Nothing stands out or is overly special. We are here 2 days ago and I had to google map it, just to remember the name! It rests on the laurels of being IN Tombstone, AZ, while doing nothing to be above average, on its own. Food is just ok. So if you like just ok food that is over priced, then go on over to Longhorn.

Just had dinner there and it was really good. We got in about an hour before closing and all the staff was very friendly and gave us great service. I had the steak sandwich and it was huge. Another at the table had ribs and they looked and smelled really good as well. I Highly recommend this place.

  • Robin L.

The food and service were awesome. They cooked the steak perfectly and don't get me started on the Texas roundup soup. It was delicious! The staff was all very friendly and the restaurant was clean and full of historical things to look at and read while you ate your meal. Next time I am in Tombstone I will be eating here again.

Fun ambiance with cool decor. The menu has a wide selection to suit your tastes. Our waiter was friendly and our food came out really fast! I was utterly addicted to their sweet potato fries! Nice place to stop in when you're checking out Tombstone.

  • Bobby B.

First you can't even bring in bottled water. Then the food took more than 30min to get. I ordered the pulled pork sandwitch and the bun was so soggy you couldn't even hold it. And to top it off my wife was throwing up from the bad chicken strips. Not sure if this was just a bad day or what.

    (1)
  • Charlotte M.

Must start with the disclaimer that we only had soups and desert, and people around us having full entrees seemed to be saying very positive things. That said, everything we had tasted somewhere between old and stale. So I'd say -- eat there during the busy hours and stick to the popular menu items.

    (2)
  • Veronica R.

We ate here twice--once for dinner and the other time for lunch. We had the same awesome waiter both times. He remembered us AND our drink orders. He was very attentive and if there was an item that wasn't available then he suggested other options. We had a large party of 9 people and he made sure all the orders were correct. The fries were phenomenal.....we all loved the minced garlic added. Our only issue was the gravy on our country fried steak was a little cold and congealed. If we're back in Tombstone sometime, this will be the only place we'll go. Sincerely, the group with 7 Pepsi's, an iced tea, a coffee and the "whisperer." :-)

When you're hungry for a classic breakfast in Tombstone, The Longhorn is a fine choice. They have all your standards and then some, and for reasonable prices. I had the huevos rancheros, which were really good and done right. It's served with corn tortillas underneighth (as it should be), and their homemade salsa on top had some nice kick. And the refried beans were some of the best I've had. The only thing that would have made it better was a pair of flour tortillas on the side to mop up the eggs and salsa. Good food, efficient service, and conveniently located right on the main strip.

Terrible! We went there two times in one day and it was terrible both times. I ordered a BBQ pulled pork sandwich and the bun was soggy the first time and the second time my husband and brother in law ordered sandwiches where the buns were also soggy. Also on my grilled cheese I asked for bacon (something that is on their menu) and asked for no tomatoes and instead got tomatoes and no bacon. Also we got margaritas the first time and my brother in law asked for a prickly pear lemonade because he isnt of age and the women never told him it was going to be the same price as the margarita. $10 so for one little meal just for him a 16 year old that was paying for himself paid $21 for lunch! Crazy. Then when we went back for dinner cause there was no where else to go the lady told him they didnt have prickly pear lemonade.... wow! ( we wanted to see how much she would tell us the lemonade was) our other waitress obviously made up a price before. Also service was terribly slow and unfriendly. Would not reccomend!

The worst service I have ever experienced. The old lady hostess was down right racist and her attitude was unacceptable. The restaurant right across the street was much nicer.

We actually ate here two times on one of the days we visited Tombstone - lunch just as we arrived and later we had dinner here, too. It is a huge restaurant!!! It seems busy all the time! We were seated in good time, even though there was quite a line. Our waitress was nice, but . . . took a very long time in getting to us to take our order. Then our big mistake was we asked a question and weren't quite ready to order. Well, another LONG wait!!! There are basically no substitutions or changes to what's on the menu. We did get our order placed - and asked for BBQ sauce. Our food arrived (after another long wait) and no BBQ sauce - so when we finally got our server's attention, we asked for that and someone else brought it over. I'm not sure what the problem was - too many tables for per server or what??? The food was OK - for the type of restaurant it was (nothing fancy, and we knew that going in). They do have daily specials and many guests were ordering steaks. And . . .then we ate there at dinner, too - (yes there are other places, but . . those we were interested in were closed the day we were there!) We actually ended up w/the same server and were not pleased about that at the beginning. She didn't even remember that we'd been there a few hours before (which maybe confirms she was just on overload?) Anyway, the service at dinner was better - more thorough and quicker. Again, our food was "OK" - took awhile to get, but . . .glad for it. Again - you can't change anything from the way it was on the menu. I drink lots of water. My glass was rarely filled at either meal.

Food was pretty good. I had a melon Margarita and it was terrible. The service was awful as they were severely under staffed for how busy it was.

The first time I ate here was back in late December 2012. I ordered an open-faced chilli bean burger and a bottle of Sarsaparilla. The burger was decent and the pop was great. The boyfriend had some kind of a burger which he just said, "Yeah. It was a tasty burger." I noticed they have a Prickly Pear Margarita, which I wanted but did not get at the time. I was there with a group of pals again last Friday and suggested go there for a cold drink in the early afternoon. We did. This time around most of us ordered the Texas Round-Up soup, which was pretty darn good. We also shared an order of chilli cheese fries, which were season and yummy as well. I was talked into ordering the "Strawberry Cheesecake" drink and two of my buddies ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita. Both drinks were okay, but entirely too sugary and big. We could tell the drinks were made with tons syrup and not real ingredients. We all thought they would not have been so bad had they been shot sized. A big plus though was our waiter Guy, (who waited on us last time as well), brought us Tombstone glasses to take home with us. That was a nice, unexpected surprise! If you visit The Longhorn for a snack, do get the Texas Round-Up and opt for a beer instead of their mixed drinks.

Had the combination plate. The tostada was the best. Beans were amazing! My 14 year old daughter had the French dip. She said it is the best French dip she has ever had. The kid is a French dip expert. My son had the tombstone burger and just devoured it. My daughter had the little chief hot dog and loved it. Finally my wife had the BLT and said it had the best bacon. Service was slow but worth the wait.

Worked here for years, eaten here for years. Everything is fairly well!! Small selection of mexican food, couple different burgers, a few bbq plates as well as a few desserts, if yuu want a decent lunch or a nice sit down dinner go for it!! You won't be disappointed nor will you have your mind blown. French dips are one of my favorites, all the servers are nice hard working people :) prickly pear Margaritas are on point!

Cold overcooked steak. Bad service. Classic tourist trap. Avoid.its shameful that people do that.the " home made" Apple cobbler was made with nasty vanilla ice cream and ready whip. If people dont care thats one thing. But don't advertise if you really don't care what you are serving or who is serving it.

We got here for dinner a little early on a Sunday night and the place was pretty empty. We were seated immediately by a very friendly woman who let us know what the specials were. The food was just okay (BLT and a burger) and the waitress was a little brusque. They did honor a discount offered by the Wells Fargo RV park we were staying in. I would try some other places in town to eat before I would think about eating here again.

This place is A- OK. was told that the ribs were the best in town, and it has the biggest menu. so of course i went! place was packed! it was memorial weekend! i ordered ribs, wife ordered a burger. ribs were ok, not the best i have ever had, but could be the best in town, sadly.wife's burger was ok, nothing special, her bun was burnt. we should have gone with our gut and went somewhere else. but they really had a good crowd, and i would have to come back when it's not to busy to test it out again someday. it's not bad, just really touristy and busy.

I was there this past weekend with a lot of friends, and remembering this place as being pretty good a few years ago, we went back. Biggest mistake ever. Everything about this place was terrible. I ordered the Ribeye, even though it came covered in BBQ sauce (I thought I would try something new), it still had no flavor. I asked for medium rare, I'm not sure it would qualify as being cooked enough to be rare. The vegetables would swimming in butter/oil and were very over cooked. The only thing good was the baked potato. Out of the 9 of us there, not a single person enjoyed their meal, and between us, we had a little bit of almost every kind of meal they had their. Then there was the service, it was a Friday night, the restaurant was not full but I would say it was 80% full. It took a long time to get our food (which we are ok with as there were several large groups there at the time) but the attitude when we requested drinks. Our waitress rushed off so quick when we asked about something we weren't sure what we were getting back. I would give less than 1-star if I could. I would suggest you go elsewhere for your food.

Stopped in for lunch and drinks, awesome food and a fun atmosphere. We had to come back the next day for breakfast.

Geez, I am surprised at all the bad reviews! Guess I got lucky with a delicious pulled pork sandwich and mashed potatoes with gravy. I'd like to give the Longhorn 3.5 stars because I devoured my meal and really enjoyed it; then again, the two people I was with didn't feel too thrilled about their food. I think it would ultimately be misleading to rate the entire experience 4 stars. In a nutshell, we didn't have bad service at all; Longhorn was more like a bar that served food as someone else had noted; it was kind of on the expensive side. Anyway, much of Tombstone is geared toward tourists, so I don't think this place should have to take too much flack for not being a five-star steakhouse. Sometimes it is a fun part of the experience to eat a no-frills dinner with some good old pictures on the menu and Doc Holliday painted on the ceiling. PS - if you mention you're staying in town, I believe you get a 10% discount.

We have eaten at the Longhorn several times. Each time it's about the same: decent Americana food at reasonable prices with lackadaisical service. They have good burgers, above average ribs, big beefy hot-dogs, and a typical chicken breast sandwich. The fries are excellent; they reminded me of the ones Lucky Wishbone serves. I wouldn't say the service is bad, but the hostess and servers are friendly and trying to do their best in an obviously understaffed restaurant. There are longer than normal waits between being seated and getting drinks and orders.Last, food is delivered in acceptable time, but the server never returned to refill waters or ask if we needed another beer.

I loved my chips, salsa and side of beans. It was great. The rest of my table ordered the special bbq beef hoagie...and hated it. I would have averaged our score and given Longhorn 3 stars but the service was lacking and the prices were high. Since the point of yelp is to help others avoid your mistakes (or visit discoveries) I guess I would recommend avoiding the joint.

Went here with some coworkers on 9/21. Food: - Good. I had the NY strip, which was cooked exactly as I ordered it: medium rare. Service: - The waitress was friendly to start, but that didn't last long. Not sure what soured her attitude. I'm fairly sure it wasn't us. We weren't an obnoxious group. The owner, Steve, stopped by our table a number of times. He was very congenial, and very nice. I enjoyed the dinner.

Our little group stayed in Tombstone on 2/3/2013 on the way to Kartchner Caverns. We stopped here for dinner and I just have four words about this place: CHEESY JALAPENO POTATO SOUP. It was abso-freaking-lutely amazing. I thought about walking into the kitchen and asking the cook for the recipe, it was that good. The prickly pear margarita was refreshing too.

As far as Tombstone is concerned, this is as good as it gets. Very much like a Claim Jumper style menu. Everybody in our family got something they liked. Ribs, Chimis, Chicken Fried Steak, Sasparilla, Death by Chocolate cake. I would go there again. Especially recommend for dinner when the streets shut down all but for the few bars which do serve meals, but we didn't feel comfortable dining in them with the rough looking crowd. This building is a historic site that used to be the Bucket of Blood Saloon and also The Owl. Just walk down the street & go on the Good Enough Mine Tour afterwards!

I've felt compelled to emerge from Yelp Limbo (Yembo?) for this review. My dad and I were roaming around Tombstone like a couple of thirsty desperados, so we hit the Longhorn. Our tea came with large carafes of boiling water and was pleasantly strong; usually diner tea means "generic, weak teabag plunked in a cup of warm water". Service was quick and friendly and our server didn't mind that we ordered only tea at lunchtime. Dad and I enjoyed our tea break so much we went back for dinner that evening. Our food arrived lickety split and smoking hot. My dad loved his hot roast beef sandwich and my burger was fantastic (they actually have veggie burgers on the menu: groovy) And oh, those fries. Our food was not greasy at all, and great quality. The staff were all very friendly and genuinely seemed to like working there, and dad and I struck up a fun conversation with fellow diners. The decor was Late 70's Western Sitcom Diner: giant bullhorns protruding from the walls, lots of wood paneling, and a stained glass portrait of bare bottomed dancing girls doing the can-can. Quentin Tarantino would dig this this place. The clientele was a mix of wooden-faced tourist families, jolly groups of retirees guzzling Margaritas, and laid back locals. Bonus point for not having giant tv screens everywhere. It ain't the Ritz Carlton, but it's a relaxing, casual, fun place with excellent service and damn tasty food.

Since there aren't many choices in this area, you will do fine here-- just don't have high expectations. The food is not the best quality. The BLT had lots of fat pieces. The bacon was also partially cold. All of the lettuce on sandwiches and burgers is pre-shredded iceberg. The fries didn't have much flavor. The onion rings were okay. The "kids" hot dog is huge. If I were going to Tombstone again I'd probably just bring a picnic, as most of the restaurants are owned by the same company and have the same menu. They also only serve Pepsi products.

First let me say this: It's just a matter of time before the Longhorn Restaurant under the existing management goes out of business and is sued for making someone very sick. Regardless of how many generations of family have run this restaurant, they are still far, far away from getting it right. No joke or exaggeration: we've eaten better food out of gas stations and truck stops on long roadtrips. The food at the Longhorn is bottom of the barrel prefab from food service companies and poorly prepared. Our experience: We headed to the Longhorn famished and excited for a great meal. Our waitress seemed very distracted and a bit annoyed that a customer showed up to eat. She was far from friendly and it was clear she wanted to have as little intereaction as possible. Perhaps she needs to find a different line of work that doesn't require contact with people. We ordered the two specials: the prime rib with some kind of sauce (which I later discovered was intended to hide uncooked meat) and the ribeye also with a copious amount of sauce to cover a multitude of cooking sins. We both also ordered "genuine golden russet" mashed potatoes. It seems the Longhorn has a history of running out of fresh potatoes - baked or mashed: see Trip Advisor reviews. When we received our meals the waitress came by to ask how things were before we even had the chance to have a single bite. Smart move on her part - I'm sure she knew complaints would soon follow and, thus, we didn't see her again until we proactively requested a manager. First, the potatoes: from the initial bite it was clear these were cheap boxed potato flakes and either they, the gravy on them, or both ,were atrociously salty. I told my husband I was sure these were boxed potatoes. He went to take a bite of his to try for himself and uncovered a large ball of unmixed potato flakes. And it wasn't small - about a golfball-sized ball of raw mix. Meanwhile, I am allergic to MSG (which almost no one uses anymore due to severe allergic reactions) and know the signs well. After eating a couple bites I immediately became very hot, my neck and face turned bright red, my earlobs were on fire, ringing in my ears and throbbing headache. I am CERTAIN there was MSG in those "homemade" mashed potatoes and/or gravy. The meat: I'd feel safer and healthier eating my own boot. I ordered my prime rib medium. When I took my first bite it seemed cold. The lighting in the restaurant was dim and it looked red but was hard to tell, especially with all the reddish sauce in a thick paste on the meat. So we brought the meat closer to a light for better inspection and it was RAW. Even the fat along the prime rib was absolutely raw - a sign of uncooked meat. At that point, we were done. I went to the ladies room as I was feeling more sick by the moment and my husband called over the manager whose name tag said his name was Guy. Guy said the meat did appear a little undercooked - to which my husband pointed out it was completely raw. Guy also said they must have run out of real mashed potatoes and that he would see what he could do to help the situation. (Incidently, we ate super early that night - the sun hadn't even set. It was about 5:30 p.m. and supposedly the real potatoes were gone.) By the time I came back to the table the bill had arrived with just $12 and change taken off. I asked for the manager to return. He was awful. I explained to him that $12 was hardly good enough. I was not about to pay over $40 for an inedible meal that made me sick. He actually argued with me and simply did not care. He never once apologized for the experience. He did confirm that the kitchen was using fake potatoes but that it wasn't his fault because he was only manager for what happened in the front of the house. Wow. I talked to him about the MSG and he denied its use. I let him know I'd be sharing my experience on Trip Advisor, Yelp and elsewhere and he said, "Go ahead" and walked away. I realized at that moment that this restaurant banks on the fact that people come to town, in many cases, just once in their lives, or infrequently at best, and chances are the Longhorn can just dupe new tourists tomorrow. Personally, I hold myself to high standards in my own work and can't understand an establishment who would feel good about operating in this manner. They really should be ashamed of themselves. I should point out he offered me a free dessert - as if I would want to risk having more of their prefab food in my stomach. Eventually, after much argument, he took a little more off the bill. Honestly, we should have just walked out without paying a dime. Still hungry, we ended up across the street at the Crystal Palace, which we do recommend: very friendly service and good food for a fair price. If you want to enjoy yourself and time in Tombstone: stear clear of the Longhorn

As the boyfriend puts it, "The food wasn't exceptional or anything, but it was OK. Decor was cool." Both of us got the pulled pork sandwiches. They weren't bad - kinda like a sloppy joe on a hamburger bun. It took a little while to get our food, and with no free refills on soda we tried to make time pass by staring at the things hanging on the wall - pictures of Mexican revolutionaries and stained glass windows of OK Corral shoot-out participants. Every now and then people would hover around our table to look at the things on the wall too. The place is one of three eateries recommended in the Triple-A guidebook (along with the Lamplight Room and OK Cafe). It's decent.

While the ambiance here is lacking, they were super friendly and provided great service. We weren't terribly hungry, so we simply had baked potatoes and soup/salad. I had the salad, and it was pretty much a standard steakhouse salad, iceberg and dressing. The soup was very good, nice and meaty with good flavors. The potatoes were typical side baked potatoes. I'd eat here again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get here.

Great little place. Ordered their prime rib and as soon as I cut into it the waitress saw it was too well done from what i ordered and she offered to make another. I opted for the French dip instead and it was pretty good. Price is right and service was ok.

Talked w/the owner earlier at one of his other restaurants, and thought we'd try this one. Order the special . . . waited over 30 minutes. Asked hostess to check on it, she came back saying it would be right out - more time passes - finally the server brings our meal out - wrong meal! So, waited further. The odd thing is - the special was beef stoganoff and you know it had to be already made . . When we got the bill, we were charged for the wrong meal and the meal we ordered. Offered a 10% discount because of the wait - and when I called the bill error to our server's attention, he corrected the bill, but failed to include the discount. At that point - we just said "forget it." Food was delicious ... but when you add in the wait and frustration, it just takes away from a great experience.

Stopped in to get a quick bite before the gun show. We were seated very quickly and food came quick. We had a philly cheesesteak plate which was like 9 bucks for that with fries and pickles. My friend said it was okay, but was just substenance, not tasty food. I got the bbq sandwich with fries. It was decent for $8. I got a Doc Holliday which is pepsi's version of dr. pepper. It was ok. I think I prefer dr. pepper's stronger kick of flavor. We could have been happier somewhere else, but they're all probably about the same in taste and price. The staff was mixed in their service. They had like 5 or 6 people on staff, but some of them were lazy and just standing around. The main two were the guy running the bar, whom was the best at giving food suggestions for quickness and took care of drinks pretty fast. He was originally somewhat rude in how he wouldnt take a food order when he came to get drinks, but came back later to get the food order. The lady that originally sat us down was nice enough to tell me what a Doc Holliday was in overhearing a conversation. We did witness later on that some people wanted to pay or get a table and she was busy doing something that she should have dropped to help them rather than making them wait a few minutes.

We have been to Tombstone twice and both times ate at Longhorn. The owner both times sat down with us and remembered us from the first visit two years back. The food is really good. The service is good but slow during busy nights. Everyone is really nice but if the place is really busy there is not enough staff for everyone. So if you go in there when it is busy sit back and take your time, it is worth it.

If ill-prepared frozen food is your thing, welcome home! My wife's surf & turf was so bad, not only didn't she eat it, she didn't even bring it home for the dogs. Fortunately, I had enough pork ribs for the two of us, and they weren't bad, plus the sad little cobette of frozen corn that came with reminded us of happy times at KFC. Bisbee, AZ is only 25 minutes away. Well worth the trip.

I didn't find anything that awesome to eat in Tombstone. Nothing was terrible but nothing was special either. The menus of every place seemed identical to the others, at least along the Allen street area. The service here was pleasant, the lady we had was super sweet. The chili was pretty good according to my chili connoisseur friend. We split the burger with the avocado and green chile on it. The patty wasn't anything special but the toppings made the burger good. We paid $10 for mediocre Margaritas that came in souvenir glasses (which we weren't aware of and didn't really want but whatever). Overall a fine experience.

I have to share this experience with you and be prepared it is not a good one. We took a day trip through Bisbee and Tombstone and decided to stop in Tombstone to have dinner; primarily because I had a restaurant.com gift certificate still unused and available to redeem from the phone app. I am telling you this because here lies a lot of my frustration with this place. I told the waitress when we got there that I had a cert. as the rules state to do, allowing them to call in to receive an authorization code for redemption. I have never had a problem with this process in the past but here it comes....The waitress told me that she could not use the app and we would need to print out the certificate. So here we are party of eight in an old western town on a Sunday, where are we going to print out the certificate? As the guys went out in search of a printer I spoke to the manager and asked if he could just follow the directions from the app certificate. His response, "No, print it. I don't make any money on those things." What? 1. Not my problem. 2. If you don't like them, why participate? I suspect in hopes that people wouldn't be as stubborn as me and go find the unlikely printer to receive the 50 dollars off our bill. Anyhow long story short, the guys actually found someone at the Tombstone Hotel to print it for us, and we still paid 100 dollars after the discount for average food at best with their hospital grade steaks and their touted "Mashed Potato Flakes"

Had a pretty good lunch here...the special I enjoyed was the Arizona Burger-though I don't recall seeing it on the regular menu, the burger had bacon, jack cheese, a roasted ortega chile and sour cream on it. Though the patty itself wasn't anything extraordinary, the fixings, particularly the chile made it pretty good. We especially enjoyed Prickly Pear (cactus) margaritas and had good service.

I visited The Longhorn Restaurant with a group of motorcycle riders. When we walked in, they gave us a really friendly greeting and pushed several tables together to accomodate our large group. I ordered an iced tea to drink. Tea for me says a lot about a good restaurant and theirs was very, very, tasty and refreshingly cold. It tasted like it was freshly brewed, which was great on a hot day. I prefer Mexican food, so I tried their platter that contained no less than 2 tacos, 2 enchiladas, 1 tostada, and a side of hot sauce. Way too much for one person, so if you go there, you may want to consider splitting the plate! I rate the tacos B+ as I prefer shredded beef, the enchiladas A as I prefer just a little less cheese (excellent enchilada sauce however!), and the bean tostada A+. I enjoyed their freshly homemade salsa, but being from El Paso originally, I prefer something much hotter - but I understand Tombstone is visited by a lot of tourists - many of whom would think what I call very mild to be very hot. Overall, a great dining experience.

We couldn't decide where to eat and finally chose this place. We got kids chicken tenders, veggie burger, angus fried steak, cheese enchiladas and a NY steak and it's was all reasonable and very good. The prices were between $8 and $21 (steak). The service was good and it wasn't very crowded for a Monday.

If I wrote everything here about how bad this dining experience was I would be here all night. So here is what was decent: The kids chicken strips The fries This is what was very bad: The burgers-served lukewarm and had fake grill marks served on a cold bun The service- I had to refrain from losing it in here.our server and every other person in this place had a huge attitude problem to the point that I felt uncomfortable even being there

Nice waiter but the food was inedible. I had the ribs which were so tough I couldn't cut it with my knife. One of the worst meals in one of the worst towns known to man. Tombstone boasts that its the town "too tough to die" - I really wish it would.

I thought this was the best restaurant in Tombstone/Sierra Nevada/Bisbee area. I always ordered the steak with the bourbon and blue cheese sauce. It was affordable and delicious. I also had the enchilada plate and those were some of the best enchiladas I've ever had. Not sure why everyone else had such a bad experience. The service was decent, the atmosphere was pleasant. Some good stick to your ribs or home comfort food.

This is not a family restaurant. It's a bar that serves crapy food. I was disappointed and considering my choices are slim to none in Tomestone, I had to try it. The service was nice. I couldn't wait to leave though.

The Longhorn Restaurant is a tourist restaurant whose purpose is to extract money from the hordes of wild west aficionados who patrol the streets of Tombstone hoping to connect with their inner buckaroo. It is the oldest continually operated restaurant in Tombstone, located in what used to be the Bucket of Blood Saloon, the Holiday Water Company, and the Owl Cafe and Hotel. On December 18, 1881, Virgil Earp was shot from a second story window of this building in an attempt to exact revenge for his role in the gunfight at the O.K. Corral. You have to know before you patronize this restaurant, or any other business in Tombstone for that matter, that Tombstone's merchants place a premium on the town's history, and that premium is reflected in the price you pay. The Longhorn is no exception to that rule. The food is prepared with an eye toward not offending the (majority of) tourists, and at that it succeeds pretty well. For people who live in the area, it can be a pleasant means to end the obligatory Tombstone visit when entertaining out-of-town guests, or a good place to grab breakfast early in the morning before the tourists overrun the place. If you go for dinner, the ribs (either pork or beef) and the T-bone are quite good. Quantities are good, in some cases almost overwhelming (the rack of beef ribs overhangs the platter on which it is served by a good 25% or so). The desserts are excellent, with the apple cobbler being particularly recommended. The atmosphere is casual. Expect to be served on melamine dishes with cafeteria-style stamped flatware, and don't worry too much about whether your flip-flops match your fanny pack. Reservations are accepted only for parties of 12 or more, but in my experience there is generally no problem being seated. Just keep in mind that this is a tourist place, not a fine dining establishment, and you won't be disappointed.

I saw some sage advice on Trip Advisor prior to our day/night in Tombstone: don't eat in Tombstone, go to Bisbee. Should have pushed the hubby to make the short drive to Bisbee. Anyhoo, had dinner at this place and although the waitress looked directly at me when I gave her my order, it became obvious it was not given to the kitchen, or at least given to another customer. Everyone else at our table got served. After noting I had nothing by our waitress, time still went by while I waited. My hubby had to do another reminder. When I got my ribs, it was clear that they had been smoked, but not glazed/crisped in the sauce. Poo...my son's ribs were better since they had lots of crisp BBQ sauce. Food was okay, supposedly they were short staffed. INS must be rounding up a lot of kitchen help because that seems to be an issue in quite a few restaurants lately (see Bitzee Mama's review in Glendale).

We were told to eat at Big Nose Kate's in Tombstone, but at the last minute, on a suggestion from a local, we headed to the Longhorn. Big mistake! While my salad was passable the beef ribs my husband ordered were awful. Not tender at all, and hardly any meat on the bones. The best part was the sauce. The baked potato was missing so we got 2.00 off the meal. The waitress was ok, but nothing I'd compliment since she forgot the butter and didn't notice the missing potato from the meal. We give this place a thumbs down and next time would try a different eatery in town.

Great food and service and fun atmosphere. Beef ribs were flavorful and burgers were too. Avoid French dip.

I ordered sweet potato fries and cheese enchiladas. To drink I had a prickly pear margarita. I though the food was expensive and just okay. The margarita was very sweet.

I would say this is where you'll get the best food and service in Tombstone. The owners are such nice people.

Decent burger, friendly service! Do not disregard the place for the 3 star rating. You will not get higher than a 3 in that part of AZ...

I've eaten here twice now and thought the food was pretty decent. Portions are pretty good. Service could be better. They seem to forget the details. Prices are reasonable for a touristy town.

2 meals, 2 soda's, and 2 side salads were around $40.00 or so...

the building is awesome and a great sight to see inside but the service here sucked. i mean sucked like it made half of our party leave the restaurant.

Surprisingly OK for tourist trap kinda place. Wife had a fresh house salad, good homemade ranch. Chips and salsa were not great. Basic chicken tenders for son. He liked them. Daughter and I had burgers. They were big and ok. All in all, average, but better than we expected.

The food and service were awesome. They cooked the steak perfectly and don't get me started on the Texas roundup soup. It was delicious! First you can't even bring in bottled water. Then the food took more than 30min to get. I ordered the pulled pork sandwitch and the bun was so soggy you couldn't even hold it. And to top it off my wife was throwing up from the bad chicken strips. Not sure if this was just a bad day or what.

Must start with the disclaimer that we only had soups and desert, and people around us having full entrees seemed to be saying very positive things. That said, everything we had tasted somewhere between old and stale. So I'd say -- eat there during the busy hours and stick to the popular menu items.

We did witness later on that some people wanted to pay or get a table and she was busy doing something that she should have dropped to help them rather than making them wait a few minutes.

service is good. ordered tombstone burger and texas soup. the soup is ok, basically taste like chilly soup. tombstone burger is like sloppy joe with chilli on top. I like the frech fries, it's very crispy and thick.

The cowboy breakfast is actually quite good with the fried potatoes and fat little sausages. However, I don't understand how they can mess up the white toast. Hard and barely buttered.

  • Brian H.

  • Rebecca B.

Surprisingly OK for tourist trap kinda place. Wife had a fresh house salad, good homemade ranch. Chips and salsa were not great. Basic chicken tenders for son. He liked them. Daughter and I had burgers. They were big and ok. All in all, average, but better than we expected.

Decent food. Typical prices for a tourist town.

Friendly service and good food! We saw some of the local cowboy characters were having lunch there, so we figured it had to be good!

Cool decor but the buck stops there. The food wasn't terrible but wasn't great in the least. Waitress was terrible!

So so food. But, you're in Tombstone so you have to immerse yourself into the kitsch! Have low expectations and you'll be fine.

Decent all American food, the most exciting thing about this place is definitely the decor, which alone is worth a visit.

Good home style food at the right price. It was a nice welcome to tombstone dinner. Mary our server made it feel like home. The meatloaf, slaw and mashed were good. Pretty quick too.

Great little place. Ordered their prime rib and as soon as I cut into it the waitress saw it was too well done from what i ordered and she offered to make another. I opted for the French dip instead and it was pretty good. Price is right and service was ok.

Baby back ribs were tough and chewy on the outside waitress replaced with steak which was just ok. Went back again and ordered the Chicken Cacciatore special and the chicken was burned around the edges. Both times were in the evening, hopefull the day cook is better

I've eaten here twice now and thought the food was pretty decent. Portions are pretty good. Service could be better. They seem to forget the details. Prices are reasonable for a touristy town.

This is not a family restaurant. It's a bar that serves crapy food. I was disappointed and considering my choices are slim to none in Tomestone, I had to try it. The service was nice. I couldn't wait to leave though.
