Five Stars! We loved this place! I don't understand the other reviews because this place is our new favorite spot in Safford. We made a delivery to nearby Morenci, AZ and the wonderful smell of the grill caught our attention while waiting for the stop light. We decided to hit it up on the way back and we are so glad we did. We got there around 4:00 in the afternoon. The place wasn't busy. They have ample tables (no booths) and 11 televisions showing sports. They have a bar area too and an outdoor patio. We were greeted quickly and chose a seat by the window. During happy hour domestic beers were $2.00 I believe. Our server was very attentive, keeping our drinks full and us happy. Since it was happy hour, I got the potato skins at half price. We got 4 big potato halves with lots of cheese and bacon. Delicious! They have the softest bread here. Wow! They bring it out before your meal. For dinner, my husband got the rib eye with natural cut fries and green beans. The dinner came with a trip to the salad bar too. The steak was fabulous (I had a bite). I ordered the Philly cheese steak (extra cheese) with regular fries. Wowee! The meat was fresh and flavorful. The fries were nice and crispy. We had so much food we took half of it back to Phoenix. During happy hour domestic beers were $2.00 I believe. Our server was very attentive, keeping our drinks full and us happy. Try this place out. Try the steak and Philly. You will not be disappointed. We will be back!

Don't do it,!! Go to the other end of town and eat at that steak place. More to follow, but tragically terrible food. And the owner has decided to charge $1.00 to use a charge card on a $25.00 bill?? Are you crazy? And remarkably it seems that his policy is to charge it on the "First" ticket at the table,?? Really? what twisted logic is this? 2 of us with split checks spent $50-$60 bucks, and they put a $1.00 charge card fee on one of us? The steaks were HORRIBLE, raw, grisly, poor cut. Vegetables were mushy. Salad bar was pretty lame too, the iceberg was unripe "white" ish' in quality. Tough time of year for lettuce, If you are too cheap to buy better quality. My coworker ate a couple bites of his steak and told the server it was bad, she made no effort to do anything about it. You can tell that there is no "life" to the energy here. Seems a typical situation where an overbearing, arrogant owner does not empower staff to address customer concerns. The whole experience was just as if the company is one big shoulder shrug about customer experience. Visa MC contracts do not allow for an up-charge such as this, let alone the audacity to even try on a $60+ dollar table of two. My CC company will be hearing about this rediculously arrogant policy. (Update-, apparently 30 days ago it became OK to have a CC surcharge? , but even if that is correct, it is unbelievable to actually do that, ) No chance in hell I would come back. Epic fail !!!

I tried their JD burger around 1pm on a Friday. It was a big burger, but had little flavor. I was disappointed and won't be back for burgers. The sweet potato fries were passable. Service was ok, but a little slow. We sat outside. There was no barrier between the outdoor patio and the road, so the road noise was loud.

Chicken was not bad, but the mashed potatoes looked and tasted instant and the vegetables were what I could get in the frozen food aisle. Salad bar was nothing to write home about.

I'd love to give a review about their food but after watching the bartender text and giggle at whatever she was writing and or reading I decided to leave. You would think in a mining town with very few bar and grill type places, they'd care more about what few customers they had in there.

This new place is formerly Golden Coral. Good steak, but that's where it ends. Just an average salad bar. Not much veggies as options for sides (in fact, none even listed) and what kind of steak house doesn't have baked beans or chili? Service was slow, line was long and there was long waits between wait staff coming and visiting us. 3 stars because the steak was really good. I had a 12oz sirloin medium rare which was cooked well, but oh well, it was still good. Bonus? Several hours later and I'm not sick so that's a good sign. They are newly opened and still trying to figure things out I guess. I might go back after a few months & they got it together.

Went to dinner here with my folks and some cousins on 9/28/12. The main dining area was far too noisy but the host was more than willing to seat us in the side room which was much more quiet. The food was average to good. Service was a bit slow but I would come back if I ever make it to Thatcher again.

First of all safford really doesn't have a lot to offer when it comes to food. That's why I was sad to see golden corral close down. I was even more disappointed after eating at JD's, the service was slow, my steak was burnt and the food was pricy

Staff doesn't seem to know what their doing. Out of 6 wings, 4 were broken boned, and 2 were smaller than my pinky. I had Swiss added to my burger, the cheese was like Kraft singles. The ketchup seemed to be very runny, and bland. I won't spend money here again.

Desperate for something to do, my sister and I ended up at JD's. Formerly a Golden Corral, the owners ditched the franchise and are making a go of it on their own. The first thing I noticed was the bright lights, which stayed bright until about 10pm. They really should dim the lights on the bar side. It completely ruined any atmosphere they were trying to create. Overall I was not digging the decor. The tables and chairs were left over from the GC days and were crowded up against a couple of pool tables. One guy came close to losing an eye to a pool stick. I didn't eat so I can't comment on food quality, but I was less than impressed with the service. During a 2-hour sit at the bar enjoying the sights and sounds of small town karaoke I was spoken to only once, when I first sat down. Seems that after selling me one drink they were good. No need to make any more money off of me. I also noticed that despite the 4-5 servers milling around most everyone came to the bar to flag down another drink. And it appeared that they don't run tabs. Maybe it's just me but if you have a bunch of servers not serving they should be able to handle tabs at the bar. The thing I actually liked was the clientele. People from all walks of life - cowboys, bikers, suits, college kids, preteen girls (nope, that's not a typo) - forming unlikely duets and singing their hearts out on a Saturday night. Though I don't really have anything good to say about my experience, I opted for 3-stars instead of 2 because for Safford I guess it's okay. It's less seedy than any other late night spots. It's a small town effort with small town results. I think if they tried a little harder they might have something cool going on.

Absolutely terrible establishment. I've given this place multiple chances to try to win my business, but to no avail. Poor service, bad staffing choices and no food service standards. During my most recent visit, there was one bartender and SEVEN waitresses in a fairly dead restaurant. But with only one bartender, drink service was terribly slow because she was running trying to keep up while the waitresses were just moping around waiting for something to happen. Someone should have bar training and been able to jump back there and help out. It gets worse. At one point, the bar got an order for a strawberry daquari, a margarita, and a banana something, in that order. All drinks required the use of the blender, but it was nowhere near properly sanitized between drinks. On top of that, while garnishing the first one with whipped cream, she got some on her finger, then proceeded to lick that finger clean then WITH THE SAME HAND reached into the fresh fruit to grab the strawberry to top it. No excuse! And all the bartenders are only concerned with helping their friends and regulars and have no interest with helping newcomers. And forget about being offered food while sitting at the bar. You practically have to beg for a menu and wait even longer for someone to take your order. Great looking bar with a lot of potential with its location but horrible service and horrible standards have ruined it.
