I'm not crazy about sushi buffets but this place was actually pretty good. They had hamachi and octopus nigiri that was surprisingly fresh and the obviously homemade seaweed salad was downright delicious. The shumai was well cooked and the potstickers were steamed and gently cooked and flavorful. The downside on the sushi was the selection. The had pictures of hand rolls and various salmon and shrimp sushi but there was nothing like that anywhere on the buffet. The regular Chinese buffet itself was not bad. The egg drop soup and the hot and sour was really tasty, and I also enjoyed the crab legs. The chicken was so over cooked it was dry and forgettable. The fried foods were pretty good. The best of all was the egg roll-big, crunchy and light golden outside.

My boyfriend and I tried Sakura on a Saturday afternoon. It got decent reviews on Yelp, so we thought we'd go. The place was a big buffet room with lots of tables and chairs. The room was very clean and pleasing. The buffet has a combination of Chinese and Japanese cuisine. There was an assortment of entrees, but some were emptier than others. (I realize we and midday and not during rush hour.) The taste from most of the dishes was okay...not horrible but not fabulous. My boyfriend wanted crab legs but unfortunately they didn't bring them out until we left. Our waiter wasn't very friendly, she brought drinks and never came back to check on us. So, the food was decent...nothing too bad to report...but not the best, either.

I really like this buffet. Laid out very well and the food is always fresh and hot. Huey, the owner is always polite, attentive and gracious. The selection of sushi is good and Huey is proud to let you know that his wife is the sushi chef. Great family atmosphere and the best Chinese food in the area by far.

Gary (part of my dining trio) and I ate a fabulous meal here! It's located in a shopping center, along with Safeway. Easy parking. Huge restaurant. Sakura offers both Chinese and Japanese cuisine. We found the ambiance friendly and pretty, along with a huge screen playing an Animal Planet show, and the food choices were plentiful and fresh. You can order either from a menu or eat the buffet. Wanting to try the variety offered, we opted for buffet. It's divided into the Japanese sushi section and the Chinese and dessert section. Sushi section: an excellent sushi chef prepared artistic buffet sushi. You non raw-food eaters (including me) can enjoy a number of vegetarian or cooked sushi choices. You serious (raw) sushi lovers (like my husband, a real Asian from Hawaii who grew up with it) rated the sushi highly: octopus, salmon, white fish and squid choices as well as a sushi salad. Chinese section: Sakura offers many Chinese (and a few Japanese dishes, too) dishes, all marked well with digital readouts of the daily dishes. I liked that so I didn't have to ask over and over, what is this? Sakura has a number of unusual dishes on the buffet, such as a scallion pancake (really perfect texture & flavor) and a beef pancake bun thing that I loved. They also had 4 types of gyoza and shumai dumpling choices (red beans & rice in a leaf, shrimp and also a bean shumai and a coconut bun. Plus they have soups, noodles and more. If you have any appetitie left, you can enjoy desserts and soft ice cream, too. Bonus tip for seniors over 62: 10% off for you! Just tell 'em. Go try it; enjoy it like Gary and I did! We look forward to going back. (P.S. I saw the first review for this place. I can assure you that the sushi offered was a great variety of fish as I mentioned above, and some pretty classy ones compared to other buffets that offer sushi. It's always best to find out for yourself how a store or restaurant rates. And I love supporting the little guy that works so hard to create an excellent experience for you, the consumer. I know; I work hard, too!

Great looking restaurant and buffet but the food was awful. We stopped there about 4:30 which is early for dinner but we were hungry. I tried to order a beer which they advertise as carrying and was told they had a problem with their liquor license. Numerous choices and an amazing selection for a buffet but it was definitely old. I wish it tasted as good as it looked. The fried rice was dried out and crunchy. Potstickers were soggy from sitting in steampot for so long that the dough fell off when I tried to pick one up. The honey shrimp was actually chicken when you cut into it. The "sushi buffet" only had 6 choices and after realizing they were sitting at room temperature, I decided not to eat them. Food poisoning can be deadly and I'm surprised the managers don't take care to make sure people are not going to get sick. Room temp fish that has been sitting out for who knows how long?? No thanks Sakura.

Poor quality and over sauced food. 10 different looking sushi rolls all with fake crab in them.

I gave this place 3 Stars because, well, it's just average. The buffet is set up very well, organized, neat and clean. But the food just didn't taste that good. Nothing stood out. Coconut Chicken, couldn't taste coconut. Orange Chicken, but where was the Orange? The sushi fell apart as I picked it up to dip it in the sky sauce/wasabi. So half was drowned, half was tasteless. Here is a pet peeve; don't sell cosmetics on the checkout counter.

We love this place! The food selection is large and kept fresh. The restaurant is very big and kept exceptionally clean. There is a huge projection screen TV for news or the current game..The owners are wonderful people, very attentive and gracious!

I just went to this restaurant with my son today and it was terrible. The noodles were moshy. The orange chicken was soggy and nothing else looked appealing. Our first clue should have been that there were only four cars in the parking lot and only two tables with patrons once we got inside. It maybe a All You Can Eat buffet but the last thing you want to do is fill up another plate. We should have gone to Panda Express. At least their food is edible and cheaper.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
