Just finished dinner at El Patron, nice surprise in a town that suffers terribly from mediocre restaurants with 4 star reviews. Service was attentive and pleasant, decor was old school small town Mexican. Chips and salsa were hot and fresh, carnitas were very well seasoned and crispy, shredded beef taco was awesome. Rice and beans are homemade and taste that way. I will be back in the summertime hope it's not too crowded. Prices are great $3.25 for a Corona rocks.
Usually I am leery of Mexican restaurants in small towns. This place has great salsa and the entree which was shrimp enchiladas was spot on. The price was just right for what you receive. Will definitely stop in again when passing through Pinetop.
We ordered the ceviche tostada and chicken burrito, both had good flavor. Service was good and fast. The chips and salsa were very delicious. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

Really good and affordable food. We have not been disappointed. Friendly good staff as well.
Try their new AM Pile. Scrambled eggs with (mild) green chile and lots of cheese over the most incredible paper-thin potato chips. A great meal!
We ate at the Picnic Basket the Monday after Easter Weekend. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. I had a Chicken , Bacon and Green Chile sandwich and my husband had the Burger. The home-made potato chips were paper thin and perfectly cooked-crispy and not burnt. Also-the coffee was excellent. We were waited on by the owners and even though they were very busy, they remained friendly and pleasant. They are local folks and seem to know everybody! Can't wait to go back to Pinetop to try some more of the things on the menu. Looks like a great breakfast place.

Tried to eat there 3x and every time we were turned away. 3rd times a charm. We arrived 20 minutes before closing and the 4 hostesses asked the owner Bob if he would allow us to sit and eat but boss man Bob said no. But he would allow us to take his pizza home. Charlie Clarks here we come! We will stick with Red Devil Pizza where we know the pizza is excellent and they'll service until they close.
The food was fantastic. One of the best calzones we've had. The eggplant parm hero was delish; the roll was fantastic too. Flavors and quality were unexpectedly amazing for a small mountain town spot.
Brought my family in for a slice on Friday night. We ordered 2 16" pizzas, 1 cheese, 1 pepperoni. Pizza was good, greasy but not too greasy. My family rates pizza from the crust up. It came out good and crispy. Atmosphere is a little depressing because there aren't many windows or pizza place type decorations on the plain walls. Were new in the white mts., and were still shocked by how expensive food is here. In las Vegas this meal would cost 20$, our bill was 33$ and we drank water cus its 2.50-2.75 per soda with 1 refill. 3 stars...good pizza vs. High prices and blah atmosphere.

Sakura Buffet

Reviews:
Great little buffet. Super clean, very nice people working there! Great selection! Sushi bar too- plus super affordable!
I'm not crazy about sushi buffets but this place was actually pretty good. They had hamachi and octopus nigiri that was surprisingly fresh and the obviously homemade seaweed salad was downright delicious. The shumai was well cooked and the potstickers were steamed and gently cooked and flavorful. The downside on the sushi was the selection. The had pictures of hand rolls and various salmon and shrimp sushi but there was nothing like that anywhere on the buffet. The regular Chinese buffet itself was not bad. The egg drop soup and the hot and sour was really tasty, and I also enjoyed the crab legs. The chicken was so over cooked it was dry and forgettable. The fried foods were pretty good. The best of all was the egg roll-big, crunchy and light golden outside.
My boyfriend and I tried Sakura on a Saturday afternoon. It got decent reviews on Yelp, so we thought we'd go. The place was a big buffet room with lots of tables and chairs. The room was very clean and pleasing. The buffet has a combination of Chinese and Japanese cuisine. There was an assortment of entrees, but some were emptier than others. (I realize we and midday and not during rush hour.) The taste from most of the dishes was okay...not horrible but not fabulous. My boyfriend wanted crab legs but unfortunately they didn't bring them out until we left. Our waiter wasn't very friendly, she brought drinks and never came back to check on us. So, the food was decent...nothing too bad to report...but not the best, either.
