Although tucked a little bit out of the way, find this place if you are in Pine (Its just past the fire station.) Whether you want to eat in, or take out for a picnic, you won't be disappointed with the wide array of yummy sandwiches. The place is tiny and they can get backed up if a large group comes in....but its worth the wait. FYI- our parents live in Pine and this is the place the locals go.

Here is the real, honest-to-goodness scoop on the Pine Deli: It is simply the best place to eat in the little town of Pine! It is very popular with the locals (The mark of a good restaurant!), so if you go in right at noon, expect it to be busy. My Grandma, brother and I have made countless trips up to Pine to put more wares in her booth in one of the antique shops up there. Every trip, without fail, we stop at the Pine Deli for lunch. These are the best sandwiches on the face of the planet. Better than Subway for sure; the meat is real, fresh-sliced right in front of you and you get a lot of it, too. (We always walk out of there stuffed) I'm not a huge lunch meat fan and the Pine Deli is one of the few places where I know it's the real stuff, so I love it. I get turkey, my brother loves the ham sandwiches and Grandma's favorite is the chicken salad on marble rye. If it wasn't great, we wouldn't keep coming back all these years! My brother has a weird order and they get it right every time, and they don't mind going the extra mile for his unusual ham sandwich. Super, super friendly owners. My Grandma's been coming here with us for years and years; they know her well and her order by heart, and ours as well. Never before have I had a place I could order "the usual" from; I thought that was only in movies! Up until a few years ago they ran it all by themselves but when it got more popular they had to hire more folks to help out, so depending on who you get, they could be anywhere from a little bit "meh" to super friendly and helpful. They don't have the license to actually serve alcohol; the policy is BYOB for those who are fans of the drink. It's a small business run by two nice people, and it seems fairly obvious that they don't have 100 ovens in their tiny little restaurant to be cooking a million things at once; there will be a bit of a wait for things like pizzas because they only have so many ovens. If you don't have any patience to wait a few minutes, you don't really have any business stopping in a sleepy little town like Pine anyway... YES, there is a porta-potty across the parking lot, but unless you're some kind of stuck-up snob, honestly-- I promise-- you'll survive. Personally, I don't recommend using it unless it's an emergency, so I'll let you in on a little secret; there are absolutely lovely restrooms in both the antique shops neighboring the Pine Deli on either side, so use one of those instead and have a look around, too! ****Anyway, you don't go to a restaurant for the restroom, you go there to eat, and for eating, I recommend the Pine Deli. Don't knock it until you've actually tried it. I've eaten there easily a 100 times, and I've never had a bad experience with the food or the staff. So friendly, relaxed atmosphere, great food- I sincerely hope you make as many great memories there as I have.

My phone wouldn't give me the option to do ZERO stars or that's what this place would have got! I wanted to order 3 pizzas. No one else was in the place. No other orders being made. The first pizza just pepperoni, easy. The 2nd & 3rd pizza I wanted to do 1/2 & 1/2 (for example: half plain cheese pizza, half pepperoni)- & they wouldn't do it. When I asked why, the girl said," the owner / mgr does not allow us to do custom orders". I said , " Are you kidding me?" It's not as if they were too busy! Just as I was thinking this the owner walked in. She was the most rude & un-accommodating person I think I have ever encountered at any eating establishment ever! I will tell everyone I know --- don't waste your time & please don't give one dime of your money to a place that treats their patrons with such a flagrant disregard!

This always a go to when we come to Pine. Good food and it has that homey feel to it. The triple decker club is amazing! So is Mike's pork burrito! My family has a cabin in town and we visit here multiple times each trip.

Are all the previous reviews from relatives of the owner? This place has so many things wrong we left before even getting food. Here's the real scoop! First of all the bathroom is a dirty porta potty out back which was out of hand sanitizer! Yuck! A lady who was obviously one of the cooks was outside carrying food from a cooler into the deli with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth. As we walked in, the same lady who we just saw smoking outback back, barked "the specials are on the board"! We wanted to order the white pizza because it looked like it had gotten good reviews here. We were told that we weren't able to get pizzas until after 1 pm because there was a roast beef in the oven!? This was all a little too much we ended up leaving! Wish I could give a zero star rating. Don't waste your time here.

I was surprised to find that any establishent in the small town of Pine would be listed on Yelp, but being from the Boston area I figured I'd take a look. What an awesome find! If you are looking for a place to eat after hiking the Gowan Trail and Tonto Natural Bridge, drive a bit north toward Strawberry and stop at Pine Deli. Great homemade soups; breads and sandwiches are yummy and the staff is very friendly. And try the goat milk fudge - it's better than you'd think. Well worth the little side trip. FYI - A porta potty is the restroom and can be a bit cold in December, lol.

They nail it every time - green chile soup and half a sub. I hope whomever buys them keeps it up!

Employee's hand BLEEDING while making sandwiches!: Over the last couple years I've been to the Pine Deli a couple of times. Last night I went to the there for dinner. I ordered a Cuban sandwich. I was standing at the counter watching the cook (a man in his sixties) in the kitchen make my sandwich. As he made my sandwich I noticed a bright red blotch about the size of a dime red on his right ring finger. I then saw him wipe his hand off on his apron. The bright red blotch disappeared and then reappeared. I looked at the lady who was working the counter and told her "I want my money back. The cook who is making my sandwich was bleeding." She walked back and said something to the cook. Who I saw wipe his hand again. And again the bright red blotch disappeared and then reappeared. He continued to make sandwiches and cook. The lady at the counter returned my money and I left. I will never eat at the Pine Deli again. I plan to make a report to the health department on Monday morning.

I wanted to update my review after eating here for the first time in awhile. First off the new ladies up front don't seem to have any clue what they are doing, and have trouble simply operating the cash register, and second, my pulled pork sandwich was TINY compared to what it used to be. I was shocked when I unrolled the paper to see a small dry excuse for what was once an amazing sloppy HEAVY sandwich. I also noticed the containers for the dinners were significantly smaller. Still a great place, the food was still good, but it wasn't nearly as filling as it should be. I'm sad to see that it has gone downhill somewhat.

Tried their pepperoni pizza and it was fantastic. I'm from Gilbert and had every kind of pizza. For a tiny town I'm really impressed.

Best sandwich ever. This would rival most of the top deli's in Scottsdale/Phoenix. Ok the service was a bit slow, but the ladies are friendly, they speak up and get your order right. when you get your order you will be glad you stopped by.

Hidden off the 87 on Hardscrabble, next to the firestation. Great turkey and roast beef sandwiches. Meat roasted on site, sliced to their homemade rolls. The deli salads and chili are excellent. Five stars for deli food. It's an old building, tables are limited, interior will not impress or you can take to go. Nice family owned and friendly.

Do yourself a favor the next time you're in Rim Country and hit up Pine Deli. It's tucked off the 87, behind Ponderosa Market and definitely the kind of place you have to discover, but once you do, you'll be thrilled you did. Fantastic sandwiches with great portions of Boars Head meat, good pizzas, great rotisserie chicken, and while I haven't had the ribs, I'm really excited to try them. We always swing through to build the makings of our picnic before hitting up Forest Road 300 or other fun places off 87, and everyone here is so nice and does everything by hand. The chicken salad is made from their rotisserie chicken and it shows. Overall, this is the kind of gem that you have to keep floating because when a place like this disappears, you can't count on something just taking its place. Let alone matching its quality. Stop by, say hi, and try a great sandwich or a fantastic dinner. (Oh, and you can bring your own beer & wine!)

Whenever we are in Pine we make a point to stop at the Pine Deli. Friday night beef brisket dinner special is delicious and big enough for two light eaters to share. Everything tastes like good home cooking. They can get busy so call ahead to place your order if you are really hungry or in a hurry. For lunch the sub sandwiches can't be beat. The Italian sub is one of our favorites, don't know where they get the sub rolls from but they taste fresh-baked and the amount of meat is very generous. If you are looking for a hot sub try the sausage and peppers, delicious. The penne pasta special comes with two huge homemade meatballs and garlic bread. We eat here every time we are in Pine (usually more than once each time) and have never been disappointed. We always do takeout but there are tables where you can eat in after ordering at the counter, if you prefer. The pizza is also very good, if you are not in the mood for standard red sauce pizza try the Gina's white pizza with tomatoes, garlic and mushrooms.

No ambiance, good food. Very friendly staff, quick service. The Reuben is mighty good. The desert selection is ample and varied. Not hard to find but need to know it's there as no signage off the main road.

Lost in Pines, I stumbled upon this little gem. At first I thought it was a "joint", but that was before I ordered. The service was wonderful, my turkey and swiss sandwich fabulous and the goat's cheese fudge I took home melted in my mouth. I highly recommend this deli. Next time I go, I'm taking home a rotisserie chicken. The aroma fills the room. Be sure to leave a tip! They earn it.
