Fargo’s Steak House Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The place was way over priced for the food. Steak was tough and dry and the crab legs gave my husband and I the worst stomach pains, etc : ( Service was great but defiantly need to fix the kitchen. The only thing good was the Caesar salad. I guess they got that going for them. .

This is a great place to stop for a tasty and very well-cooked steak when in Payson! I've been here several times now and have been pleased with the meal each time. The staff is friendly and attentive, with great cuts of beef that are always prepared well.

Dinner on New Years Day in this tiny town, we were worried as everything else was closed and we didn't have any local knowledge of the eateries here. Fargo's was excellent.

Nice place, cool decor and the servers were very friendly. But the food.... I ordered the open face prime rib sandwich. The friendly server asked how I wanted it prepared, and I asked for medium rare. It came out a bit grey on the outside, but when I cut into it it was pinkish on the inside. I think they are using a piece of leftover prime, and sticking it in the microwave to heat it up. A $14 sandwich should never go anywhere near a microwave. yuk. 1 star for food, I added another star because the staff was so nice.

Overall it was a great experience. Interesting menu items. Good margarita, I could have been tempted for another but the server never offered so I saved some money. Asian salad with tuna sashimi was good, and huge!

AWESOME!!! Great service, great food. They know how to cook a steak and salmon. Portions are worth the money. I suggest the salmon with sweet thai chilu sauce. All the sides look amazing, but the garlic mash potatoes are wonderful. Dont forget dessert, creme brulee will make you drool. I need to get back to payson more often.

I would not waste your money trying Fargo's. I saw that Rick, the owner, was responding to poor reviews on Tripadvisor telling people that if they disliked their visit they should have said something. To be honest I don't think saying anything would have helped and I would have still left paying my bill for terrible food. Maybe he will see this post and look into training his cooks better. My husband and I were debating whether or not to eat in Payson on our way home because we have yet to find anything appetizing. We did however stop at Dairy Queen after dinner which was delicious. I had the New York Strip. I read that it had a peppery topping but wasn't expecting it to be doused with pepper. The menu says they are broiled. In my experience when I have broiled meat, it comes out with a crispy greasy top. This did not. My waitress who was extremely friendly and delightful asked me to cut into my steak upon her delivery. When I did it was a gray color and raw. I asked for medium rare. My first thought was "microwave". She took it back and returned with a more cooked meat but it still had a funny color. It was to say uneatable. My baked potato was extra we'll done. They serve this with a side of cooked sprouts with carrots in a soy sauce, strange. My husband had the prime rib, ordered medium rare. It too was a funny color and most definitely not medium rare which the waitress should have been able to tell just by carrying it. In addition, you could have build an adobe house with the garlic mashed potatoes. Needless to say the next time I am on a leisurely drive through the country and see a cow my first response will not be, "I have a taste for steak all of a sudden." Next time I will just stick to my ice cream soft serve from DQ. You might be better off stopping at the grocery store down the street, pulling into a campsite and grilling it yourself.

My family and I love to come here for lunch. Great food, great service. If it's busy expect to wait a bit, but, it's always been worth it! We went again yesterday, and our food came out hot, fresh and just as yummy as the last time were were there. Our server checked on us a lot and kept our drinks filled and table cleared. My husband always gets the French Dip, he loves it, never strays! I love the wraps and philly, never been disappointed with them. My son loves the fries and chicken strips. They always make sure to keep the kiddo's happy and offer to bring them snacks when they food takes longer than normal! Love it here, we go a few times a month! :)

Fargo is in a nice place, it was clean, and set up kinda cool, the menu evokes a lot of excitement, but so much of the food SUCKED!! Our crab cakes and coconut shrimp (over cooked bad, and flavorless) apps were just gross. The salads were like a bagged salad from the grocery store. The dressing tasted like a generic bottled dressing. The cappuccino had to be that canned international house crap, it tasted nothing like espresso and milk. To top it off, our waiter was a rude jerk. We told him is was our Mommy's birthday dinner and he completely ignored us, and was cold the whole meal. The steak was ok, mine was overdone a little, but did the trick. It couldn't begin to compare to my fav (Flemings). My onion rings were actually really good. I would normally order a potato with steak, but we were there before the potatoes and rice were ready. My Sister's tequila cream pasta was ok, it was a little too mild, lacked the flavor it could have had if made better. My Mom had a NY strip, it was good, again no Flemings, but not bad and it was cooked right. Her bisque was tasty. What kept this from being a 1 star was the few things that were not gross and they let us order dinner before dinner time (minus the potatoes and rice). The beautiful rain storm also upped my mood (which would have been pissy cus I had to swallow $150 meal that wasn't good and feel disappointed that my Mom's B-day dinner sucked.)

One of the better places I have eaten at in a while.excellent service..got the prime rib medium rare..came out medium+...but it was still good..would have been a five if the prime rib was cooked right...

Ok at the very best, our waitress didn't know the specials that were listed when we first walked in, we waited a very long time just to be greeted by our waitress, salad was basic, rolls came about 3 minutes before our food arrived, my "medium" ribeye was well, my wife's wells done filet was flavorless and dry, the coconut shrimp was soggy, the only good thing was the side of vegetables because they has been bathed in butter and what isn't good soaked in butter. Overall a disappointment, terrible service with more waiting around than eating and basic poorly executed food, we will not be back.

  • Tom D.

Good dinner, not cheap, but feel like I got what I paid for (rib eye, baked tater). Steak was cooked perfectly (medium). Server was a sweetheart., would like to have taken her home, but she was married (lucky guy). It was a Tue. night, they were moderately busy. I was just an old guy eating alone, maybe she took pity on me. Anyway, a good experience, it was.

We had the Scallops and Shrimp. The Scallops were cooked perfectly, tender and juicy! Cannot wait to go back and try their Prime Rib, Crusted Salmon other fine menu items.

Overall I was pleased with our dinner at Fargo's. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves. The service was really fantastic and I liked the general vibe of the restaurant. The dining room area was quiet and elegant, decorated like a traditional steakhouse (dark wood and leather C shaped booths) but infused with that mountain lodge feel that every place in Payson seems to have. The only disappointment was that we were directly in front of a large picture window overlooking a gas station. Of course its not the restaurants fault but I find it really funny that so many people from Phoenix go up to Payson to enjoy the natural scenery yet all their bars and cafes seem to have windows and patios overlooking a highway or parking lot. Fargo's does have a lovely back patio that is surrounded by pine trees but unfortunately it was raining while we were there so we did not get to enjoy this space. They also had a good sized bar area that seemed to have a lively crowd. The menu looked great online so I was excited to eat here. Traditional steakhouse entrees but with a few Asian inspired dishes thrown in. Sounds great. But my husband and I ended up both being a little underwhelmed by our food. I had the mahi mahi with the sweet chili sauce. The fish was prepared well but the sauce tasted like it came from a jar. My hubby had the ribeye with garlic mashed potatoes. He said it was good but about the same as you would get at Outback but with a higher price tag. On the plus side, he really appreciated being able to get a Caesar salad without an extra charge and I really liked my soup of the day, which was lobster bisque. Our server did recommend a great wine by the glass that I enjoyed very much and I also noticed they had some fun specialty martinis on the menu. I would like to come back someday for happy hour to enjoy some drinks on the patio. I'm not overly eager to return for dinner but I wouldn't avoid it either.

I'm sorry, but this restaurant was a disappointment. The evening started off ok. My companion ordered the ahi as an appetizer and while I don't care for it, he proclaimed it "very good." The entrees came with soup or salad and I chose the soup which was mushroom-brie, also very good. The Cesar salad was watery and basically iceberg lettuce and nothing else. I ordered prime rib and added the "large crab stuffed mushrooms" to go with it. The prime rib came minus the mushrooms which they forgot and brought later. The prime rib was tough with very little flavor unless doused in au jus and horseradish. The mushrooms when they did arrive contained some mushy fishy something which I guessed must be the crab. I didn't eat it. My companion ordered the full rack of ribs and was also not pleased. He was disappointed that they contained no hint of "smokiness" which he expected. Service was also spotty. We started with a glass of chardonnay which arrived promptly. We wanted to order a glass of red with dinner, but servers disappeared and we were almost finished before they reappeared. Instead we ordered coffee and an after dinner drink. The coffee arrived, but no drinks. Fifteen minutes later the drinks arrived. We had been experiencing an array of servers and our original server explained that she was under age and not allowed to serve alcohol. She therefore relied on finding someone else to deliver her drinks. While I appreciate them giving employment to a young person, they need to devise a more reliable method to assure the customer receives prompt service. This was my first and last trip to Fargo Steak House.

Amazing. Sleek fun, amazing food, friendly fast wait staff. We have stopped here several times, its 3 notches above outback with serving staff who are attentive with great memories, and seem genuinely happy to be there. My birthday was over the weekend, so instead of stopping for fast food on our way to the cabin up north we decided I deserved a nice dinner for my birthday (especially since the rest of the weekend we would be cooking and grilling at home.) Its super clean, the seats are comfortable. We were the last couple to leave and STILL they offered me a free slice of cake because it was my birthday, I passed on it, but it really made me feel welcome. Overall, I'm impressed, and when I tell our friends that I've eaten there (after having brought them with us and stopped here before) they are drooling and jealous wishing they were there with us. Its not often you can post a picture of the place your having dinner and get 20 likes on FB. If you make it through Fargo's and want to treat yourself, go here. Its worth the extra dough. The ONLY gripe I had this last trip was my filet was overcooked (to medium) and my guy's prime rib was undercooked (he asked for medium and got rare.) But I always ask for more rare, because if its somewhat overdone, its still very edible to me and since I never plan to take my left overs with me, I don't plan on reheating anything.

Completely overrated! Way overpriced! Weird decor... it looks elegant at first, but when you start looking around you see a big gorilla statue next to a mexican baby with a naked butt... it was really weird. Crab cakes appetizer was $12 and out came 3 golf ball sized pieces of mush that just completely fell apart when we tried to eat it. Flavor was ok, but really hard to eat and not enough food for the price. Steaks were just regular steaks, no flare or finesse, just ok. garlic mashed potatoes were good, but you have to be an idiot to mess up garlic mash potatoes. For a place that claims to be "historic" and a "landmark", I expected there to be some sort of wow factor to it, but I might as well have eaten at an Applebees... at least then I might have saved myself $120.

Four ladies from Show Low on a ladies day out found Fargo's for lunch. Wow. We were all impressed by the food and service. Their menu covered everyone's preferences. I look forward to my next visit.

I have been all over the world eating buffalo wings...and the wings at Fargo's are just as good (if not better) than the wings in Buffalo. New York! Perfectly cooked and sauced! Would highly recommend.

Thank God this place exists in a town that should really be avoided or just passed through at all costs. The restaurant is clean , beautiful and inviting. The staff are clean , friendly and so efficient . The menu has something for everyone and truly is reasonably priced. Portions are generous and ingredients are fresh. Personally , I enjoy the black and bleu Caesar salad with steak . Wrap sandwiches are varied and quite good as well. My time working in this otherwise bleak area was made much nicer by Fargo. I only eat here when I am in town for work . If you are driving through Payson , please ignore the Denny's and other signs for restaurants as they are all dirty and gross . drive straight down to the turn for I-260 , turn right and watch for the sign for Fargo's on the left. I call it my oasis in Payson.

Want to update my previous review.. Been back to Fargo's several times since my last review. Better service..friendlier attitude! Lunch meal was good but nothing really stood out as great...EXCEPT the carrot cake..WONDERFUL!!!! The serving size was gigantic..actually think I might run into town and pick up a piece today. The Red Velvet Cake they had on Valentines Day was also marvelous...and I'm not even a fan of Red Velvet normally. Will continue to frequent Fargo's and will try a steak next time... 6/9/13...We are locals who visit Fargo's pretty regularly. Hubby and I went in Sunday for a few drinks and some appetizers. We normally visit during the week (on his days off) when we have the pleasure of being taken care of by Marliann. Arriving about 3:00ish, we went into the bar. There was one table occupied and one young woman at the bar. The bartender, Chris, approached within a few minutes. He was pleasant enough. The problem was that apparently the young woman was his girlfriend and he spent his time chatting with her, rubbing her back, in general paying more attention to her than his customers. Guess we'll just go into the bar during the week when we are treated as paying guests!

Fargo's needs a new cook. The ambiance was nice and the staff friendly and attentive. I ordered the prime rib and it was grizzly and poorly seasoned. The zucchini was oddly combined with slivers of carrot and raw onion, poorly seasoned as well. Parking is inadequate although we parked in the abandoned filling station next door. I was very disappointed with Fargos.

We took our out of town friends here, and they LOVED it. Their prime rib is excellent, it's aged something like 60+ days. The atmosphere is nice, especially for Payson. It's got a mountainy lodge meets upscale restaurant feel. You could dress up a little bit and fit in, or go casual and be ok. Great food, great service, worth it.

Sometimes a restaurant just gets it right. My experience at Fargo's underscores getting it right. This was my first visit. I beg to differ with the decor being called "weird", to the contrary it felt like having dinner at a friend's cabin, complete with nice fireplace and great views of the sky and towering pines. But we didn't come here for sky, trees or fireplaces. The first impression was that the people who work here are nice, REALLY nice. They really truly try to make you feel at home. The menu selection is great and reasonably priced as is true with the drink menu. Our server was attentive but patient that we had a strong desire to linger and talk rather than eat and run. She clued in quickly to that and adjusted her timing accordingly. I had prime rib. There were at least 10 things on the menu that competed with it, but for a first visit prime rib is a pretty good judge of how a restaurant can cook. Mine was what I consider perfect, a little pink in the middle yet warm, a crusty blackened edge, a little fat for flavor and a smokey flavor to give it character. It is served with au jus and a nice tangy horseradish sauce, choice of salad and choice of another side (plus a tasty roll with butter). I chose the house salad with blue cheese. Most restaurants slather the salad with blue cheese poured out of a bottle. I was served the dressing on the side and it had huge chunks of blue cheese in it. The salad was fresh and interesting and just the right size. For my side I chose garlic mashed potatoes which included a little melange of fresh spinach, caramelized onions and a couple of other ingredients. Everything worked together well. The dining room is contemporary, upbeat, warm and tasteful. The restrooms are clean. What more could I ask? One tiny detail ... a large party arrived after us and our server was assigned to it. That puts a burden on her to give attentive service to the guests she already had. Another server was in the same dining room and was giving great service to his tables but once the group arrived it would have been more efficient to either have both of them share service to the group or have him take over the existing tables. Doing both was too much to ask of our original server. Fargo's scores a home run in Payson. It is clear that the owners "get it".

This was our second visit and both times were for lunch. Dinner menu looked a little pricy. We both had the prime rib and both were cooked on the money. Service was way above average. Noise level did get a bit high on occasion. Parking was a problem for our super large pickup. All things considered we will continue to stop here for a late lunch and call it dinner. I think most people would be pleased with the food here but you know how it is with restaurants...recommend one to somebody and they hate you for life. Try it, you don't have a lot to lose and more than likely will leave a winner !

Ate lunch here today while in the area to check out the football camp at Totonzona. My husband and I each had a glass of Dreaming Tree. We started with the mushroom bisque which was had a fabulous flavor and served really hot. I had the Avocado and Cranberry Turkey burger, he had the Prime Rib Dip and our son had the Turkey Wrap. All were delicious and we would definitely go back if in the area. We sat inside in a booth in bar area to watch FIFA otherwise the patio looked very inviting.

The top place in payson for a premium meal. I ate in the bar for the tvs. The bartender waitress was super attentive. The special, rib eye and shrimp, was tempting, but I have the coconut Salmon instead and it was great. Soup of the day was chili and it had good flavor and just the right heat. I had a skillet cookie for desert which was really tasty. I will be back.

Went there for lunch last week because another friend had recommended it. So our expectations were high. We took our waitress'suggestion and ordered two of the day's specials - open faced prime rib sandwich and lobster bisque. The soup was good, but no lobster in sight. They should have called it tomato bisque. The prime rib sandwich was a huge disappointment! A giant slab of meat on a giant white plate. It begged for something colored - like cole slaw. The meat had no seasoning. We tried to make it better with the au jus and horseradish sauce, but to no avail. We left it half eaten. They served two batter fried onion rings with our lunch, but they were cold and greasy. Looking around, we saw that they served onion rings to everyone. They obviously prepared a large batch of them in the morning and served them all day. A big mistake. Fried food should be served fresh and hot from the fryer. $40 for a bad lunch is bad news!

Wow, I would say the seafood quality is as good as the Salt Cellar in Scottsdales and the Steaks are as good if not better than J Alexandar's or The Keg. We had Ahi Tuna and Rocky Mountain Oysters for starters and split a surf and turf of King Crab legs and a Rib-eye steak..... Did not dine in but order from bar and had a cocktail and enjoyed the friendly staff. The food was worth the price and I heard the Prime Rib is amazing, will try that next time. I did not expect a steakhouse of this quality in Payson; I was wrong and happy to admit that.

Over the years I have eaten at Fargo's many times. I find the food and service consistently good. I especially like the artichoke pizza appetizers, coconut crusted salmon, and top sirloin steaks. The carrot cake dessert is huge and very good. A wide variety of wines and beer is also available. The prices are moderate and during pleasant weather outside patio dining is available. Sometimes the adjoining bar gets little noisy and rowdy but that happens in all establishments. In an era where every restaurant is average, Fargo's is clearly above average and worth a visit.

My fiancé and I had dinner there on a Wednesday night. No wait, nice atmosphere, friendly, very attentive waitress. I had the Coconut Salmon with Thai Chili Sauce and my fiancé had a steak. Both our main entrees were very good. We weren't crazy about the garlic mashed potatoes but the vegetables were prepared perfectly. I would recommend a more extensive wine list but we each had a Cabernet that went fine with the steak. I should have ordered the Pinot Noir (my fault, not the restaurant's:-). We also got bad directions from my phone app mapquest. We had to call the restaurant to get directions. Hope the restaurant sees this and corrects the problem somehow with mapquest. All, in all, we were very happy with our meal and the service at a very reasonable steakhouse price.

First let me say the service is fantastic and the staff very friendly. The food, however, is just not that great. We asked the hostess who sat us if we could get happy hour in the dining room and she assured us no problem. When we sat down our food server advised us that is not their policy but they kindly allowed us to have the happy hour prices in the dining room due to the misinformation the hostess gave us. There were four in our party. We started out with the oysters and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. I did not eat the oysters but the other party members stated they were average. The crab in the stuffed mushrooms tasted old and fishy. Do not get anything with crab in it. Steaks ordered were the New York Strip and Bacon wrapped filet. The filet was fantastic. Prepared just right and excellent flavor. The New Yorks were tough and caused both party members significant stomach upset later in the night. The salmon ordered by another member was average. Baked potatoes rather than mashed are the right choice. Spinach salad average. Margarita was awful. Mai Tai was great. I ordered the peppercorn dressing for my salad and I think they brought out the honey mustard instead. Way too sweet. Not your usual peppercorn if I did get the correct dressing. My recommendation for a meal here is the filet mignon, baked potato and some type of vinaigrette dressing. Wine or beer to drink instead of mixed drinks. Would not recommend any seafood item. Atmosphere is that of a mountain lodge.

My family and I dropped in real quick before leaving Payson to get a bite to hold us over till we got home. The hot chicken wings were great but the service was not. We were the only ones in the place and we still had to wait long periods of time before we were checked on and given refills. I don't know what it's like on a busy day/night but if your in the mood for good wings this would be the place to go if your in Payson.

Whenever we go up to Payson, we always end up eating here for dinner. I like the woodsy feel to it, makes me forget I'm in Arizona for awhile. I always get the fish and the choice of sauces is nice too. I always go with the Thai chili sauce witht he salmon, very very good. The garlic mashed is my favorite side with it as well. They have plenty of bread for you, fresh crispy salad and the entrees are never disappointing. They have a good wine menu as well as a pretty decent beer menu. If you still have room, try the cheesecake. The apps are delicious, especially the coconut shrimp. I always found the staff to be very attentive and friendly. This is a must go to if you're heading up to Payson.

We went there in search for a few drinks and an appetizer. We did not eat steaks etc...we sat at the bar, which is nicely done. Looks very 'mountain'. The bar tending chick was quite prissy. She definitely believed to have a higher calling. Nonetheless we managed to get her to get us our drinks and some chicken wings and a salad. The stuff tasted quite good. Huge portions. The drinks and the altitude made us a bit tired, so we asked for some espressos-no go in this place-only drip coffee. Quite amazing for a supposedly first rate steak house. On we went to Starbucks-Safeway to get our caffeine injection. Bottom line: Fargo's may have the most sophisticated atmosphere in town, but some of the staff need to work on their attitude, and an order for a decent espresso machine needs to be put in. PS.: Yelp and Google seem to have an issue with mapping this place. Use Mapquest. The place is right on 260, about 1 mile east from the central intersection.

I have been to Fargo about a dozen times over the past 2-3 years. This restaurant finds that happy medium between dressy and casual, sort of a cross between Ruths Chris & Outback? Prices are quite reasonable for the quality. The lobster bisque was fabulous, one of the best I have enjoyed in a few years. The steaks are always very good, and the prime rib is a favorite. Service is very good, and the location is perfect, on the 260, about a half-mile off of the 87. I will be back again.

We were traveling Northern Arizona and when we got to Payson on the way home to Phoenix we stopped in for a late lunch. this place was so beautiful and impressive in it's decor. I ordered the apple wood smoked bacon blt with steak fries and my friend had the veggie wrap. It was delicious. finally a place that really toasts my sourdough in stead of warming it up. the plate was decorated so beautiful. it was empty for a Monday, however we went in at the time where restaurants are between lunch and dinner. Our server was fantastic and very attentive without being overwhelming. We topped it off with chocolate cake and ice cream and it was a rich dark chocolate. we could not even finish it and we split it. I would come again....Our Bill was 30 dollars which I feel is impressive for the service and the beautiful decor. you spend 20 now at a fast food joint with below average food.

My guess is that this place is likely the best place to eat in Payson. I'm not a fan of chain restaurants like Chili's or Applebees and this place had much more potential than those chains. Everyone in the group enjoyed their meal. I got the Pastrami Burger. It looked amazing when it came out. Thick patty, good helping of pastrami too. That said, my order came out 100% incorrect. Literally, everything that I had asked for to be changed from the menu description remained unchanged when my order came out. I watched my waitress write it down, but it was a complete waste of her time, because nothing was right. It took long enough for the food for our group of 8 to come out, so I didn't bother trying to send it back. I also felt like the service was pretty slow considering that restaurant didn't seem overly busy. All that said, I would bet that the rest of my group would have given a 4 star rating.

Started with wine and cosmos, then side salad and lobster bisque (this was awesome). Coconut shrimp and tenderloin skewers, with 2 desserts. $66. Well worth, waitress was awesome, didn't get her name. Sat outside on back patio, great food and well worth the price, thanks

Not a bad steakhouse at all. Service can be a bit slow even when they are not crowed (like the night we went). Overall the food was good, the cuts of meat were nice, those having fish seemed to enjoy the meal, and the prices are fairly decent considering a remote location. Swing by for a try one night!

Nice bar service and selection. We were seated on time for our reservation and order taken right away with the specials clearly conveyed. My sister in law and I both ordered the filet and for $31 I was expecting an exceptional piece of meat. I ordered it more well done than I usually do because they did not have a written scale on their menu what THEY believe is medium rare...which I have found a lot of steakhouses will do to ensure they grill it to order. Well, it came out rare so I asked to have it more done. The waitress was nice and took it away. It came back well done, dry and burnt on 1/4 of the steak. They ruined a nice cut. I had to cut off the charred pieces and complained to the waitress. She apologized and the manager took off $6. Nice customer service. The rest of my party enjoyed their meals, but for the price...wouldn't say it was exceptional.

First time here, we pass by it every time we go up North. I had no idea such a delicious, upscale restaurant existed in Payson. Everyone enjoyed their meals, including the kids. I recommend the coconut crushed salmon, very good!! Will be stopping by again.

I have had a good experience here in the past but on July 5th it was not so good. First, I had checked the day before to see if we could sit outside. I was told yes, but when we got there they said we couldn't. When I brought this to the attention to the manger he said it would be OK. Within 15 minutes there were 16 more people seated outside. We came for Prime Rib and baked potatoes. After we got our drink order we placed our food order and were told they were out of both. How do you run out of baked potatoes? They are a cheap, high profit item. So we ordered some stuff we really didn't want. Apologizes yes, offering a substitute item, a free drink or appetizer, no! Just pay your bill and thanks for coming. Hey management, you might want to plan better for the 4th of July weekend.

Met some longtime friends for delicious steaks and seafood. The children's menu includes a generous portion of prime rib for $10. A classy and comfortable place that provided a relaxing atmosphere for great conversation. Go to Fargo's for amazing food and service!

Best steaks in town. Can dress casual or dress up, either is appropriate as is a bit more upscale in atmosphere than most of restaurants in Payson. Prices are moderate, though is what one expects for quality. A nice place to go for a birthday, anniversary or to take guests.

Came in to try this place out. Pretty pricy wasn't too impress with the food. Think they were going for something similar to the Keg feel but the food definitely wasn't there. The was food was ok. But nothing to rave about so maybe next we try a ma and pa place around here. Service was very slow at the beginning but once are order was taken the service was on point.

Tried this place again. Seafood is exceptional. Ate in the bar area and the bar server was still inattentive. Had to go find someone to settle our bill. Not going back.

Can't add much to the reviews here. We've stopped at Fargo's a couple of times on our trips to Phoenix from New Mexico and have yet to have a bad meal. Steaks are the best part of dinner, but the appetizers have been hit or miss. Service has ranged from acceptable (good) to excellent but it hasn't been consistent. Overall, this is a nice little place to stop, perhaps a bit spendy, but good food and ambience.

It's okay for payson. The steak is a little bit pricey but cooked well. The waitress is attentive. I will give this 3 star because I had better somewhere else.

First (many more to come) visit on Monday, February 9. Greeted promptly and graciously. Seated immediately. Attentive service. Open Face Meatloaf Sandwich for me - Open Face Prime Rib Sandwich for my wife. Both excellent and served piping hot. Chocolate Chunk Skillet Cookie and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream shared for desert - just right. Prices are great - $34 for food, tax and tip for 2. Definitely will return. A real "find"!

Wow! These reviews are all over the map. One observation may help explain this. Fargo's lunch menu is extensive and reasonably priced (most lunch sandwiches, wraps, burgers, and meal-sized salads are in the $8-$10 range and include one side dish). The dinner menu is much more limited with prices substantially higher than comparable genre restaurants (for example, a small fillet mignon is $31 and includes just one side dish). The differences in the variety of menu options and pricing for lunch and dinner probably explains some of the differences in customer expectations. If I am spending $8 for a full lunch I am fine with average food and service. If I am spending $31 for a small piece of beef with one measly side dish, average food and service is not going to cut it. This review is for lunch only: My friend and I had the hot pastrami sandwich with onion rings and a dill pickle spear ($9). We also had iced tea ($2.50). The food was tasty, the tea tasted fresh-brewed. Service was OK and the food arrived within an acceptable time frame. The decor reminded me of an Olive Garden with the one big room with a mix of booths and tables and chairs placed so close together that it is almost impossible to not knock into other diners. The noise level was quite loud considering that the restaurant was far from full. Parking is tight and most spots are quite far from the restaurant's entrance for the mobility impaired. It is located in a complex of offices and the entrance is at the rear of the building.

We stumbled onto Fargo's while passing through from Phoenix, and boy are we glad we did! This is the first time I've ever written a review for any restaurant so I can't begin to tell you how impressed I was. To begin with, we had great service. The menu was impressive with the variety of options it had. My boyfriend and I split the Bleu cheese steak salad which was done so tastefully. Next I had the coconut crusted salmon, so so delicious! Very flaky, tasty, just down right delicious! I give this place 5 stars, I'd give more if I could. Oh, you also have to check out the drink menu...Wow!!

The best steak and crab I have ever had! My picky eater children devoured their meals also, so I was extremely impressed. A little on the pricy side, but completely worth it.

Food was great and the price was reasonable . I had Rockefeller oysters , they were fabulous. The prime rib sliders were so tender. The service was great. I will be back when I visit Payson again!!!!!

We had high expectations for a great steak dinner and were very disappointed. After waiting 30 minutes past the suggested 20 minute wait they asked if we would like to be seated in a booth. Since we had dined there previously in a booth we agreed. Unfortunately they didn't say the booth was in the bar area. We accepted the seating for our four person party and proceed to order. I did not want to make a scene so just ordered water and salad. Other members of our party ordered lite. Very noisy. Bad experiance!!!

Just off the trails. Out of the creeks. A much needed steak for men of this natural world. NY cooked perfectly. Ribeye a touch overlooked, one shade, a scoch if you will. All in all- worth the stop! Coconut shrimp, gilded the lily!!!

Stopped by for a quick lunch while traveling thru from the white mountains. We needed a healthy offering and looked at "best salads" on yelp. We found Fargo's. It was a great local steakhouse with a truly wonderful selection of salads and veggie wraps with great service. The good was excellent and salads were made fresh and not over dressed.

Stopped in Parson for a day trip, heard about Fargos and thought we'd give it a try. Great food, nice atmosphere. Would totally come back!

Maybe tonight was an "off" night (Friday 8:40pm), but I just had the absolute worst meal I can remember having - Think: Gordon Ramsay Kitchen Nightmares. Stay away from the shrimp cocktail (shrimp not fresh - likely frozen then thawed), oysters (see comment on shrimp - forced down 3 of 8), Caesar salad (warm romaine, bottled dressing, five croutons - yes, I counted; they were grouped together on arrival), tenderloin appetizer (was barely warm when it arrived and dipping sauce was nearly room temperature, just cooler). If you find what I have said so far hard to believe, I don't blame you, but you're not alone because I also found it hard to believe that each and every dish I ordered was the next example of just how extraordinarily and exceptionally poor the food quality was throughout the evening. I held out hoping that the restaurant could somehow redeem itself on the main course. No such luck, unfortunately. I ordered the 10oz Filet and my date ordered the oso bucco. When the final courses arrived, the oso bucco had not been thoroughly cooked and was cool to the touch (near the bone). The steak seemed better than the osso bucco, but for some reason did not seem as though it had just come out of the oven. I paid $4 for button mushrooms, only to get them and learn that they were canned. To their credit, the restaurant comped the oysters, oso bucco, and the mushrooms. Our waitress was kind as well. Contact me if you want to hear more because this is a meal I won't soon forget - good luck!

Don't waste your money on poor service.... The reason I can't give them a higher rating is because this place pretty much has the same menu as Texas RoadHouse but twice as expensive and half as good. I went with my family and it was a party of 6 and the manager rudely told us we needed to call ahead for a party that big. Now I think a family of 4-6 is pretty common nowadays, but I apologized to the manager. It seemed they were bothered that we were there, granted we were just trying something new and didn't look fancy, it felt like we were being looked down on. The waitress was nice really sweet. But the meat was dry, the shrimp was too greasy, and I had a salad and it tasted fresh out of a bag before you wash it. You're better off going to that Thai restaurant down the street or waiting till you get back to Tempe or the nearest Texas or Outback steakhouse.

Visited with a group of friends while up in Payson for an event. Went on Saturday night, 7/20/13. This is a nice place for the area. The food was good although I will say that I have had better steaks. The rib eye was a little smaller than I would expect for the price. But still very good. Other orders at the table included Prime Rib which looked very good. I would return next time we are in tow.

I've only eaten at Fargo's for lunch, but it has always been an excellent experience. The food is top notch, very fresh and flavorful. They have a great menu with salads, wraps, burger, and sandwiches. There are also specials to pick from. The prices are also very reasonable for lunch, figure about $10 for sandwich and side. Fargo's has a large outdoor seating area, and the inside is open, airy, and clean. Service is good, but could be friendlier. This is a great spot for lunch in Payson, and I'll keep coming back!

This steak house we enjoyed very much after seating (20 minute wait on a Friday evening). Great sit down environment, with the cabin feel (weather has snow outside which added to the ambience). Service was great, and very courteous server. With the moderately high pricing, not sure why we had plastic container butter's. Steaks were very good. The Coconut Salmon was great. Muffins were outstanding. Lobster bisque was good (could of been a touch warmer). Salad was ok. Overall a very good experience at Fargo's for the price paid.
