This is the quietest and most beautiful places we stayed on a fairly long birdwatching trip in SE Arizona. It's convenient to several good birding areas. We stayed in a room with a combined kitchen and bedroom and its own outdoor sitting area overlooking the splendid garden with many bird feeders. The plants in the garden are beautiful and well-cared-for. In addition there are many statues, garden seats, table-and-chair areas, a hammock, potted plants, and Mexican metal statues for an impressive overall effect. The dishes and decor in the bedroom were also Mexican-themed, including very well-executed wall paintings. The bathroom and walk-in shower were large and decorated with interesting tile work. Breakfast is served only on weekends, but we enjoyed coffee with food that we kept in the refrigerator in the room, and we also ate lunch and dinner in the garden. As everyone says, the hosts are very pleasant, welcoming people.
From start to finish, this B & B is amazing! Comfortable accommodations, good food, amazing terraced gardens with birds galore.....a real haven!
We had a LOVELY time at this B & B! The hosts were wonderful, the room was private and secluded (we were on the end) and the gardens were astounding. Lovely morning coffee, yogurt, and gorgeous fruit on the enclosed screened patio. Every detail is beautifully thought out for your maximum enjoyment - from the placement of each plant in the garden to the bottle opener in the room. HIGHLY recommend this beautiful oasis.

TASTY! Passing through from Rio Rico to Sonoita today and my brother's jaw dropped when he saw the "open" sign on the sidewalk (I guess he thought they closed down a while ago). Two words: delicious pizza! Two more words: Velvet Elvis (there really is one... on the wall... watching you eat). Their wheat crust is so chewy & delicious - the perfect vessel for all those tasty toppings. Service on a Saturday afternoon was quick and friendly. The side salad was surprisingly large and full of actual veggies (most pizza joints like to take shredded lettuce, drench it in ranch, and call it a side salad... not the case here!) But a note - the "avocado dressing" for your salad is really just guacamole. Don't get me wrong, it was good guac... but I prefer dressing on my salad. Or some chips on the side. I'll definitely come back by here on my next visit to southern Arizona/northern Mexico.
How can one even begin with this place. We had the lentil-quinoa soup which was beyond this world, the Ein Kartoffel pizza which had a whole wheat crust that was amazing and a homemade tiramisu with the perfect blend of custard and ladyfingers. All of this served by the nicest Ecuadorean owner ever. If I could give this place 6 stars I could... Who knew the sleepy little town of Patagonia hid such a treasure. Be forewarned, everything for miles tends to close around 8 at night, even on the weekends. Still, after a whole day of wine tasting, the food here was just what I needed.
After a couple of trips to the Patagonia area, we were jazzed to actually find VE open. Too bad the excitement didn't last all the way through the meal. Don't get me wrong. The food is definitely A-OK. The staff tries hard. The atmosphere is adequately trendy. But $13 for five pieces of Romaine with a few nuts and 4 pieces of cold chicken? Granted, the Bleu Cheese dressing was as good as we've had. But still. Then came a $10 Calzone that the server had described as "big." Again, quite tasty. But big it weren't. Still hungry, we ordered a $4.75 slice of cheese pizza to split. I'll grant you, these folks do interesting things with whole-wheat dough. It's almost pastry-like. But as pizza goes -- meh. Had much, much better. If we were in the market for a $12,000 rug, or if we were stuck for a place to eat in Patagonia -- we'd probably go back. But $40+ with a tip to split a salad, an entree, a slice of pizza, and two beers just seems a bit steep. Good luck, folks. But then, I'm sure there're enough hipster dufus types and new-ager kool kids passing through to keep you going a few days a week for a long, long time.

We ate here after a serious night of wine tasting. The food was much needed! They had standard breakfast fare and the portions were massive, which again, was appreciated. The sever was attentive and friendly and checked on everyone in the place frequently. She had coffee coming before we even asked for refills :) We were happy with our experience - if you're heading through town, make a quick stop here for a bite to eat.
I ride with a couple different motorcycle groups. Patagonia is a good ride and maybe its cause there aren't to many places around and they are on the main drag, but we always wind up here. come to think of it, its probably cause the food is good and they are very accommodating to our large groups. As a waiter I know how irritating it is when a group come in and everyoine wants seperate checks. I also know that it is what it is and it's going to happen. The servers at this joint know our groups and never ask about "all on one check?", secretley hoping it is. Instead, as they take the drink orders, they ask "just you on this check?" Sounds crazy, but they never complain and always take care of us with a smille. The food. I have only ordered the burgers here and I really love them. No one has ever complained about the food though and everyone seems to like it. I can't remember of anyone ever suggesting a new place to try for one of our rides when we come to Patagonia. I think that's saying something. I do have one little complaint............. nope never mind, I was mistaken. Great burgers and good prices, with a friendly accommodating staff. I'm in
Terrible service. Just terrible. When I asked if they still served breakfast, the "hostess" said "I don't know" And walked away never coming back. When I asked the "owner/manager/waitress/who ever she was" the same question we was told no. I asked TWICE for a refill for my drink, NEVER got it. There was 8 people inside when we was there, 6 of them was already eating or had empty plates in front of them, we waited 30 minutes for our lunch. As we was about finished with our lunch a local group of about 8 walked in, and the same "owner/manager/waitress/who ever she was" while standing no more then 4' away from me, OFFERS TO MAKE THEM BREAKFAST. Do Not waste your time since that's all you will get, wasted time.

A great place to stop by for a quick bite to eat or a full on meal. You should definitely stop by to try the same whiskey the EARP brother's loved to drink. I don't remember the name but you can ask the bartender to give you a shot. It'll leave your face winching but you can now say that you drank the same stuff the EARP brothers drank back in the day. Try the nuggets as an appetizer (deep friend corn mash). COST: 5/5 FOOD: 5/5 This is only based on the nuggets. We only stopped for some appetizer. AMBIANCE: 5/5 Great place for photos! The waitresses are all dressed up and there are a couple staff members dressed up for you to come take pictures with them. Guns and all.
Arrived here when we found out that Wild Horse moved from the Hotel to the Saloon. The food was good. Given the size of the crowd the service was good. Very rustic. The big issue I had was all the flies, they were everywhere.
OK for California BBQ but no Brisket. The Beef shoulder was moist but no bark. The place at least look and smelled like a BBQ joint. No beer kind of a problem for me. Even though the placed smelled smoky the I could taste it in the meat.

In the mood for Mexican food in Patagonia? Might want to make it yourself... Somehow I suspect that there are some menu items that could be good, but we tried 3 things: enchilada, bland; chile relleno - made with a good chile but otherwise blah; and beef taco - the meat was flavorful!. The salsa seemed like grocery store tomatoes blended with a hot pepper. Good flavor from the pepper but otherwise nothing to it. Chips were hard and definitely not home-made or even purchased from a home-made type supplier; same with the tortillas. Beans and rice were again, completely bland and appeared almost canned. There was a sign offering menudo, posole and a couple of other items. I wish I had tried the posole or menudo, those dishes are usually made fresh when ithey're offered at all. A couple of locals were eating hamburgers, maybe I should have taken the hint.
This is not the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten, but was pretty bad. The salsa was not spicy and appeared to be a blended tomato. My vegetable "burrito" contained no beans or rice. Instead it was lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and cheese wrapped up in a tortilla. And I specifically asked that it not contain carrots! The best thing you can say about Mercedes is that it's really cheap.
I thought the food was pretty good. The ambiance leads a lot to be desired, but I had tilapia with butter and garlic and my husband had the machaca. Both were good. The salsa was nothing to write home about, but the the people were very nice and I would definitely eat here again if i lived around here.
