I was ready for "rustic," "simple" & "no frills," I was NOT ready for "dirty." Once you check in it is a LONG walk on a steep hill to get your stuff to the cabins. You can use their cart, but be ready... only 3 out of 4 wheels work. Once you get to the cabin it's hard to believe that they are only 10 years old. This is what a lack of maintenance and/or cleaning looks like. Exhaust fan was covered with crud, inside of cabinets were scary & the stains in the jetted tub were disgusting! I had to wipe/scrape the layer of crud off of the ceiling fan prior to use. To give you an idea of just how little cleaning that they do: our "Non-Smoking" cabin had an ashtray full of cigg butts, and the receipt from the last guest was still in the room... When we brought these issues to the front desk, they offered us a new ashtray. Yeah, they missed the point all together. He explained that you can smoke on the screened in porch (NO explanation as to why it wasn't even emptied during "cleaning.") We will NOT be back....

Very cute cabins in a mountainous area. Lots of wild life around the area. Close too many fun attractions as well. Cabins have a deck that over looks the preserve. Absolutely beautiful view day and night! Staff very accommodating and helpful. Nice retreat from the valley for a quick getaway

Driving from Tucson into Sedona. We wanted to sleep somewhere nice and reasonably priced before getting to our destination. We saw the sign off of Hwy 69 and decided to get a cottage. What a nice surprise, big comfy bed, big red heart jaccuzi next to a fireplace! Pictures don't do it justice. You're gonna have to stop by and experience this for yourself. I would give it 5 stars but the noise from the big rigs driving on the Hwy does ruin the experience.

My husband and I decided we needed a break from the city life, so we found this place online. We loved it. The heart shaped jacuzzi was what initially got my attention, but everything from the room to the scenery was awesome! We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant, and our waitresses were amazing. We will definitely be going back here again!! :)

Spent an amazing summer night in a quaint and cozy cabin with my special gal and absolutely loved it! Very affordable and clean cabin with a great view and all amenities. Highly recommended.

Our first stay at this Inn we were a little worried due to negative reviews. However, upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly front office woman. As an interracial lesbian couple we are always concerned about how we will be treated. The room was cozy, clean and offered all the amenities of a rustic cabin. This is by no means a 5 star resort but it is exactly what you would expect from a rustic cabin in the woods. We met two other couples who were returning guests that raved about the place. We will also be returning to this Inn in the future. During check out we were assisted by a very nice gentleman behind the counter.

Does anyone care at this establishment? We are very easy going people, but we do expect a clean room! My husband and myself came for a weekend "getaway" and were welcomed by a cluttered and disorderly lobby and an older gentlemen that didn't seem to care if we stayed or left. I have severe cat allergies and specifically requested a room that was pet free. After a long and freezing walk to the dimly lit exterior of our cabin we opened the door to find the room absolutely covered in pet hair! The pet hair was not the only unnerving feature the cabin. There was some sort of white scum in the heart shaped jacuzzi tub, the TWO pillows that we had were flat and limp and the television was an very old tube style. After braving the night in the cabin we were looking forward to the advertised "free hot breakfast" but, much like the other promised amenities, this too was a dismal let down. We made the trek back to the main hotel in the morning to find that the downstairs doors leading into the dining room (the ones that are convenient for the cabin guests) were all locked! We had to walk all the way around the building to the other door to gain access to our promised "Free Hot Breakfast", which upon arrival was discovered to be a total farce. Instead we found a sign that said you could have two cold items from a very limited selection. All hot items cost extra and were not included in our stay. When we sat down at the table we noticed that someone had rolled a big screen TV into the dining room which had a video of a fireplace playing on it? Needless to say, we were very unsatisfied with our overall experience. We couldn't help but feel as though the owners were disconnected from what their guest's needs and wants really were. We never say never, but it would take a great deal of changes, including that of management, for us to return.

They're trying for rustic here, but not sure about it. PROS: Big bed, jetted 2-person heart-shaped tub (right next to the bed!), screened-in patio overlooks dry creek bed with lots of foliage, fireplace is gas but puts out nice heat CONS: not sure about room cleanliness (we were forced to check out because one of us had a terrible allergic reaction in the room, apparently a previous guest had had a dog and cleaning isn't the highest priority); when confronted about the allergy problem the front desk didn't offer another room or a refund so we checked out without staying the night; difficult to get down to the cabins - long walk down steep hill; absolutely no activities, shopping or restaurants anywhere remotely close. Sorry to say we won't be back. And we are flexible, understanding folk. This was a disappointment.

Wow ! A perfect kitchy cabin for a getaway. Room featured a two person heart shaped jacuzzi tub and a huge oversize bed. Also a gas fireplace for heat and ambiance. IF you are looking for 4 Seasons, dont stay here. But for a fun and potentially very romantic getaway, it can be a hoot. Private cabins so you dont hear or be heard by the room next door and there are cute little patios outside to enjoy the sunrise/sunset. Will definintely be back ! Roooms are a tiny bit small, but very reasonably big enough for a couple nights. Food in the small restaruarent was old school, homemade style and delicious. Very unique experience and a lot of fun. Go with an open mind and enjoy !

Very quaint rustic cabin. Restaraunt great especially for the price. Very friendly staff at restaraunt. But I have to say if your looking for luxery this isn't it! The management was friendly and the area was nice though there ws no creek. But thats what I expected going to this location in the summer. It didn't have common amenities such as shampoo, hangers, iron, blow dryer, and a very old tube tv. I was surprised that this was only twelve years old. It wasn't in the best of conditions but for $99 a night it was worth it! I think it would be beautiful to go in the winter and possible see the creek:)

Great place for dinner. Six of us rolled in for dinner and were greatly suprised by the food. The Friday night fish-fry was fantastic. Real cod with homemade beer batter. Appetizers were out quick, and though she was busy, our waitress always had a smile for us. I will be going back on a Saturday for the prime rib and live band...

My wife and I went there to get away for a night, it was a complete let down. When we got in to the room, it was like walking through the gates of hell at 8pm. We had made reservations probably 8-10hrs prior.. they could've at least turned the AC on within a few hours of us getting there. So we turn on the ceiling fan and dust starts raining down upon us. The damage was done so we let it run, once we looked at it during the morning, it clearly hadn't been cleaned in months at best. The rest of the room was relatively clean (and I use clean generously), but the ceiling fan is kind of a deal breaker. Also, they use the excuse that they have hard water to have white stuff floating in the jacuzzi tub... it was DISGUSTING. My parents had hard water and a jacuzzi tub growing up, you run it with some CLR in the water, use some elbow, and it takes care of it. Sure, it's not the cheapest option considering it's a hotel... but it's the cost of doing business. Dirty tubs = people don't come back. This is just a "really?" thing for me, we didn't even turn the TV on... but the TVs are probably not from this millennia, flat screens are $100 for decent sized ones now and there's only about a dozen rooms there, get with the program. Last, but far from the least, the "continental breakfast" is not like you would expect at a Holiday Inn or something... you get fruit, a bagel, or a pastry. Pick 2. The other option is to get a $2 credit towards a hot breakfast. Seemed like a no brainer at the time. It took well over 30 minutes to get our food, with literally 3 people there before us at 2 tables. There was a sign warning that "if the dining room is full, expect longer than normal wait times" or something to that effect. If it takes 30min to cook 2 breakfasts with 3 other people ahead of you... I would be terrified to see what would happen with a full dining room. In addition to the wait the food was terrible, the biscuits and gravy had no sausage or seasoning, the bacon was limp, the potatoes (hash browns and breakfast potatoes) were both burnt... about the only thing that was edible was the eggs. One thing that I really appreciated is that there is a flash light on your room key... someone had some foresight. I also don't understand the people whining about the walk, I'm nursing a broken foot and it was a joke. It's a CABIN, I expected it to be along a dirt path somewhere, not down a paved pathway with a hand rail. Granted I also expected the cabins to be more than 5ft apart. Save your money and time, head elsewhere. I marked it as pricey because of what you pay for what you get... It would be a good deal if the place wasn't so terrible.

We loved this place! It was recommended by 2 of my managers, who also loved it. The cabin was so clean and so quaint, no evidence that a pet was ever here. You get a screened in porch with each cabin...we literally sat out there and just talked and relaxed for hours....very quiet area. The front desk couple were very nice. The saloon was great...we had the tbone steak meal which was good...by no means 5 star steak but I wasnt expecting that either. Overall very fun adult get away....we also headed up to Prescott for bar hopping and the casino.

The Parched Piglet Restaurant @ Creekside Preserve Simple, good old-fashioned home-style comfort food sounds tempting, doesn't it? It CAN be found at The Parched Piglet Eatery, open every day from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.-(but later on Friday and Saturday nights.) This welcoming place with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside is located at Creekside Preserve Lodge & Guest cabins in Mayer Arizona. The true address is 11255 S. State Road 69. It's a leisurely day trip from Tucson of about three hours. The restaurant is under new management by hostess and proprietor Tonja Blackowski. We had dinner there before attending a concert at Arcosanti which is roughly about 15 minutes down the road. We always patronize this restaurant when we stay at Creekside, 'cause the food is so darn good! I had one of their burgers, ordered medium well, and it was cooked precisely the way I ordered it, was juicy, flavorful, and came with all the trimmings including French fries crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside. My hubby had a grilled cheese sandwich (also with fries) as he wasn't as hungry as I was. When he took a bite, he was amazed. At a grilled cheese, you say? Yes. Why? This particular item was cooked SO perfectly; bread done to a delicate golden toast on the outside, inside the cheese was a "picture-perfect" melt, and that's what it did...it melted in one's mouth. I know, because I was offered a bite of the grilled cheese so I could see for myself why it was so noteworthy. We asked our wonderful server, "Audra" to please let the chef know we truly liked our meal, and appreciated his efforts. This amiable fellow took time to come out, sit and chat with us awhile, and was pleased to learn that we were happy with our meal, and thanked us for our "kudos."He loves what he does, and it's evident in every bite of everything we've ever had at that restaurant. Breakfast is an offering of sausage, ham, bacon, eggs done to your preference, buttermilk biscuits with tasty gravy, country style potatoes, and streusel coffee cake. Lunch consists of daily specials such as chicken and dumplings, their outstanding 1/2 pound burgers-again done just the way YOU like them, Yankee pot roast, and salads. Dinner finds pork chops, prime rib, steaks, a fish fry every Friday night and other yummy offerings gracing the menu. There are always specials, and more entrees that I haven't listed here, but hey, I can't remember the whole menu! You'll just have to come in and taste for yourself. Before I forget they do indeed have a full bar with a bevy of beverages to please almost everyone. Also, there's entertainment on some nights, Western bands and Karaoke. The best course of action is to call the restaurant at (928) 632-4234 to find out what exactly IS on the schedule, or check their website: creeksidepreserve.com as there are current, brief TV commercials to view. So please give the Parched Piglet Eatery a try. Simple food, done "just so". I'm certain you'll be glad you did, and don't forget to ask for Audra- such a cheerful lady with a great smile, welcoming all to a tasty repast at this charming Western-themed restaurant.
