Do not eat at this place! I made this mistake 2 times in the last 6 months once for breakfast and the other for lunch and every time it was the same run down, mildew smelling, gross food, and worst of all THE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE!! Well today I thought I'd give it one last try so myself and some family that was visiting went in today an hour and a half before they closed. We walked into an empty restaurant with only workers sitting and talking to each other. Not one of them cared to stand up and help or even try to serve us they just looked and threw dirty looks at us like if we showed up 2 minutes before closing and now we're going to keep them from going home. We asked for a highchair and menus and the guy literally mocked us like a 5 year old and walked away!!! After 10 min of no one helping, no menu, and no high chair we decided to leave. Never again will I walk into this nasty place again and I will do my best to spread all the bad things about their establishment and horrible service to anyone I can.

I like there food and prices. They have good portion sizes. Hubby likes Machca with eggs. We like going for breakfast. Most of the time it's take out.

Been going here for years. Food is great usually especially the burritos. Nice atmosphere with the lighting low. Doesn't look like much on the exterior and the parking lot is terrible but it's usually not too bad. Wait staff is usually pretty attentive.

Very good food. Sometimes it gets busy but the staff works their butts off to make it great local spot to eat.

First of all you can't give no stars or I would have definitely not given them a one star, it was that BAD! The service was terrible, our "server" seemed like she didn't want to be there, and overall didn't come check on us once our order was taken. Gross factor was we were brought "salsa" and chips with a side of soap still in the salsa bowl. The chips were stale as well. Now to our main meal which was literally rancid. I got a carne asada burrito, which I was excited for because I haven't eaten meat in a very long time and it sounded good. Well not so much the meat tasted and smelled rancid, so I didn't eat more than one bit. My friends cheese crisp was adequate at best. When it came to paying I had to hunt down our server as she didn't come back to check on us and guess what at another table on the restaurant she was eating lunch with two other employees. After getting her attention and our check she split our bill and apparently simple math is a second language to her as she charged me $6 more on my $10 tab. I pointed out her mistake and she acted like I was an extremely rude for not wanting to pay more money on a meal I didn't eat and was still willing to pay for. Overall unless you want crap service and unbearable food don't go to this establishment. In Maricopa there are few options for visitor's like myself but taco bell is a clear winner over this option of "Mexican" food.

Breakfast is wonderful. I totally love love love the Enchilote (no doubt not spelled right ) a cheese omelet covered with enchilada sauce. Comes with refried beans but you want to upgrade to the Mexican Pappas oh my they are incredible. Lunch and Dinner are pretty ordinary but good. Prices are good.

Sun rise cafe is MUCH better plus has more cleaner seating. The absolute only reason I go her is for my husband and Molly she's a very nice good waitress but the last time I was there, we had a new waitress who was absolutely terrible and rude It only took 10 minutes to get my drink then never did a single one of us get a refill extra napkins nothing just a 30$ check! Not worth the money I was so upset about the price vs the quality of the greasy breakfast burrito. Never enough seat wait time is ridiculous and is so HOT in side it's like they never heard of air conditioning!

Lunch specials are repulsive and service sucks. Who puts ground beef in an enchilada? Bland and gross

When I asked coworkers about the best Mexican food in Maricopa they said Headquarters was the spot. So I had to go and see for myself. The place is totally my speed. Small. Dive-y. All wood err'thang. Curt and irritated waitresses who are only there to get your order and your food. I could see them being rude and terrible but on the day I went they were quick with the food and refills. The chips and salsa were pretty decent. I like hot but I don't base judgment on hot. It's just my preference. The salsa was tasty but for my tastes could have been hotter. Prices are way reasonable. I think it was cheap. Mostly all locals, workers on break for lunch, families. Only two larger booths, the rest were four-seaters. I didn't even have Mexican food. The night before I'd eaten at Poncho's on S. Central. Day before that I had a local burrito. So I wasn't feeling any more Mexican. However, most everyone at my table ordered Mexican. I saw a huge Chimi, a taco plate, an enchilada plate and huevos rancheros. All looked good. The enchilada plate, my wife ordered, was a tad cheesy for me. I ordered the El Diablo burger which a basic green chile/cheese burger. It was great, greasy and hot. The chile wasn't hot but the sandwich was. Fries were homemade. I'm putting it in the rotation.

Great hamburgers!!!! I was very skeptical about even eating there because it looks a little sketchy on the outside. My friend's father told me that they had good burgers so I gave them a try since the food selection in Maricopa is so scarce. And the burgers are good!!! It smells a little stale inside so I have never ate inside I always do Togo and I have only had the burger and fries.

This place has some of the best food in town. Breakfast is awesome here. Green chili burger is very good, and they have a great all you can eat fish special on fridays.

Good place to go for dinner, one of those hole in the wall places that are worth recommending. Service was good and fast.

Was pretty good for breakfast, not so much anymore. Not just dirty & rundown, but a general lack of care at all. No Bueno!

Tried breakfast here and was quite disappointed. Bacon looked precooked and the hashbrowns were under done. Try Sunrise Cafe instead.

I give Headquarters four stars more for the comfort and familiarity factor than the fine dining experience :) We often head to Headquarters for breakfast and it is standard diner type breakfast and always good. I usually get an omelet but my boys love the French Toast and pancakes. Headquarters does not call itself a Mexican Food Restaurant but there is lots of Mexican Food and it is muy good. I always order the green chili chimi with red sauce. It is always good with a very homemade feel.

On 10/17/2012 due to something I'm involved in, we had dinner here. Big change this time--the chips were actually crisp--unbelievable! The bacon/cheese burger is better than the other food that I ordered in the recent past. The french fries--when ordered well done--are better than I had here in the past. During my lifetime, I've had better and I've had worse.

Had breakfast twice while visiting. Love the Mom & Pop feel of the place, and there is always a decent breakfast special for a good price. Looking forward to visiting again.

Good food, good prices. Service is average. Could use extra help when busy. Only have breakfast, but chips and salsa are tasty.

This was one of the few restaurants in Maricopa prior to the residential boom after 2002. It has a small parking lot and is located on the main drag on John Wayne Parkway/ Highway 347/ Maricopa Road. It has a very small parking lot adjacent to the Dairy Queen/Shell gas station. Inside you will find walls of booths, and it used to get busy during the lunch and dinner crowds. Now that Maricopa has built up other restaurants, it doesn't get quite so busy. Their menu consists of everything from Mexican food to burgers. The tacos were a bit greasy, but gooood. Service is okay, think small town service.

Pancakes, eggs and bacon. Loved it! Went this morning with my wife, very pleased. Big portions, good coffee. Great all around.

This is some great breakfast! Everything is made hot and great tasting. Especially the mexican style breakfasts. The coffee always tastes great to me and I absolutely love the decor and home town feel of the place. Molly does a great job keeping us filled with coffee and getting us what we need for food. Sometimes though she can be over ran with customers and service can take a while. That is great for business, but is the only reason I can see dropping one star. Some day I will try their lunch and see if they can do that just as good. Also, check the special board. Very cheap breakfast can be had for less than $4. Awesome deal every day!

Always come for breakfast. Really good. Weekends are always packed. We've come for other meals and I didn't really care that much for them so we just stick to the breakfast.

The place was at quarter capacity. I sat at a booth between other customers and waited while a guy cleaned and set a vacant table. I saw the waitress come out of the kitchen and visit a table. She came out one other time and visited same table. Was she also the cook? I don't know how else to explain her absence. It was probably a good five but it felt like every bit of ten minutes before I left, never to be acknowledged. None of the other four peopled tables were visited in this time, just the one that the waitress visited.

I am giving two stars mostly because the people that own and run the place are so wonderful...but sadly...and I am soo sorry..the food is horrible. I have had breakfast and also have had dinner and it was just awful. I do not feel bad writing this because there are plenty of people, my own family..who think this place is the bomb so pretty sure they won't lose business The breakfast was greasy and quite frankly no where near as good as Sunrise Café. And dinner...bleh. I ordered the #9, crunchy tacos. I am pretty sure the taco shells were at least from the last millineum or were just plain cardboard. HORRIBLE. I had shredded beef...tasteless, not seasoned. Frijoles were good..but you really can't ruin those, rice was dry, tasteless. Salsa was more like taco sauce, not bad..just blended into a sauce. No. Never again. Like I said..the people who own and run this place are really really good people, but I am just not a fan of the food.

Great breakfast! Fast service. The huevos rancheros is to die for w/flour tortillas. Piping hot food. If you want a good inexpensive meal this is the place. Everything is freshly made.

Just a fun place to eat. Very good food, nice servers and a real treat to be here. We came by train and this good place to eat, a short walk from the Amtrak station in Maricopa.

I enjoy the small hometown feel of the restaurant. Food is decent and prices are good.

The food is decent, with both a passable Mexican menu and a better "American" menu. The prices are reasonable, and the facility/location is pretty much the only decent thing about the otherwise stabby "Heritage District". The old school force is strong in this one. The service is awful, though, especially if you have no "old Maricopa" in you. The place is understaffed, and the staff often seems inconvenienced by your mere presence. We've given this place numerous chances (wanting to have a great local place to bring visitors), but been disappointed one too many times. This place has tons of potential though, if they can get their act together.

Good food, not great but priced fair working man eats. Good breakfast and lunch. I bring my coworkers here.

Be prepared to be transported back to 1954 in this wood-paneled greasy spoon. The food is decent and the service has always been prompt. They have both traditional American diner fare as well as Mexican options. I've only ever been for breakfast and breakfast burro is indeed tasty. I do wish the Mexican side of the food had a bit more of a kick and freshness, but hey, some bacon and eggs on a lazy weekend morning is fine by me.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
