What an amazing place! Small? Yup. Food cooked to order? Yup. But worth it. Best part is the secret menu. If you slip a $5 bill in the barista Dylan's front pocket and wink twice he will sing the daily specials in an auspicious baritone voice. Get the coffee. It's awesome. Don't like the pace? This isn't Phoenix or LA. But isn't that why you came here? It's not slow, it's done right.

We stayed at the apartment above the cafe for one night. Super fun experience and the place was adorable. Had breakfast and coffee the next morning downstairs. Our coffees were probably the best we've ever had (and we try a lot of different coffee places!). The tofu breakfast tacos were delicious. Only thing was I got a slightly unwelcoming vibe downstairs. No one was rude but it wasn't quite friendly. Felt this way all over the small town. Regardless, their food and drinks were great so I do recommend stopping in.

Cozy little coffee shop with a lot of character in the coolest part of town. I really enjoyed my cafe mocha and hanging out waiting for it to be made while checking out the cool surroundings. Some patrons were eating too although I can't vouch for the food.

I love this place. The ladies are sooooo friendly! It's the tiniest little building with yummy coffee. And they have Gluten free brownies!!! What?!?! Love!!!!

Great place! We came for the vegan breakfast tacos and they were amazing, especially with their selection of hot sauce/salsas. We will come back again for sure! Staff is friendly and does a great job!

Based on reviews here and on Trip Advisor, I had bigger expectations for this place for lunch, but I believe that there's a bit of hype here. First thing you need to know is that it's TINY. There is one tight 6-stop near the window and about two 2-tops on the side, and that's it, unless you want to eat on the patio...across the street. Not sure if she was the owner or what but for some reason, the woman that helped me seemed a little irked by the presence of me or my family of four with young kids. Food was fresh, good, high quality and probably healthy. I get that it's all made to order, but it took a bit long to come out, the portion was smallish and a bit pricey. Few options for kids. Mine tried to split the salmon quesadilla, but they couldn't deal with the dill cream cheese. Electronic checkout had three tip options beginning with 18%. Considering the fact that I had to order at the counter and get my own water and refills, I was looking for 15%. Not seeing it, I opted for zero...sorry.

The employees were rude as hell and not accommodating at all. I've been to coffee shops around the world and ask for my hot teas iced. Everybody says yes. These employees, however, refused. Um, okay, generic iced Nestea it is I guess. London Fog was solid, but this was only after one of the baristas argued with my mom about how many pumps of sweetener she should get (he scoffed "we aren't Starbucks", but no kidding - Starbucks has more than decent service) I'll take my service where I feel welcomed. In a tourist-packed area like Jerome, you'd think they'd be a little friendlier.

There's not too many choices for food in Jerome, so we went to this extremely tiny diner- at least I guess it was a diner-a diner with like 6 seats. Very basic, limited menu. I got a bagel with smoked salmon- not the greatest quality but whatever, it was edible.

Cute little restaurant, Korin and Dylan were great. I will be back! Great menu, including vegetarian selections. Small and intimate with an outdoor patio across the street.

The only reason I went into The Flatiron is that the building is indeed a simpler and much, much, much smaller version of New York City's grandiose original on 23rd Street. It reminded me of home a long time ago. Unfortunately, I had just enough time to order a latte to go so I could walk about town a bit more. I may have made the wrong decision because the customers all seemed quite excited to be here. The latte was good and I'm left with the memory to return.

In this sleepy, slow town, this place is a gem among many. We stopped in yesterday on our way out of town. I had a coffee and breakfast burrito and my sister had a coffee and oatmeal. The local hot sauce that they bring from the veggie supplier is beyond amazing. It's the one with the homemade label on the shelf. The burrito was great and my sister loved her oatmeal. My meal came with two slices of the juiciest yellow watermelon I'd ever had. Quick, delicious, local. What more could you ask for?!

I stopped in for an iced tea to go. Walking in a waitress was coming out with food and yelled at my friends and I to get out of her way. Then I stood at the counter right in front of the cook/barista and he didn't acknowledge me for a good 5 min. Not very good service at all so I left.

Rude rude rude. Thought this was the place to go but avoid at all cost. Mean rude shaved head women owner! Go to Mile High Grill up the street. They are excellent. Food and service.

Best Iced Cafe Mocha I have ever had in my entire life. I wasn't thrilled with the food choices though. I'd go back for the coffee though.

We were bummed that lunch/food ended at 3 and of course we rolled into Jerome at 3:15. :o( When we asked if there was another vegetarian place that they recommended, they were less than helpful. But when we walked 4 steps and there was a fantastic veg friendly cuisine place called The Bordello of Jerome.

The Flatiron is a restaurant where you go when you want some local flavor. This is NOT MCDONALDS. This is NOT STARBUCKS. The wait for the food at Flatiron is long, but not interminable. It's a small place, and everything is cooked to order in a VERY SMALL kitchen. If you are looking for Taco Bell or McDonalds, this is NOT IT. The service is very personable and friendly...almost as if you are a member of the family. Don't come here if you are pressed for time. This is JEROME ARIZONA. Sit back, enjoy the view, and enjoy life. Be nice. The staff will be nice to you. We ordered a sweet potato waffle, hummus wrap, and a couple of breakfast burritos. All were cooked to order and absolutely tasty and wonderful. Even the garnishes were tasty and a nice, artistic touch! The food was absolutely worth waiting for. Leave your anxieties at the door, relax, and enjoy life. The Flatiron was a wonderful experience and a slice of Americana that is fading. I promise you that I will absolutely return to The Flatiorn the next time I am in Jerome.

My four friends and I stopped here this past Friday for a late breakfast. I was waiting for another, so waited to order. Two of my friends ordered from the guy (the cook), and sat back down at our table. After a few minutes of discussion, my other friend and I decided to go ahead and order. We went to the counter to order and the woman with short hair was there. After my friend and I placed our orders, I asked her if we are supposed to pay now or after we eat. She didn't answer but just started to add up our bill. I asked her if our other friends had already paid, and she snapped at me that she had been making coffee and didn't know. She said the bill was $28. I walked the six or so feet back to our table to ask the other guys if they'd paid already. Next thing I knew, the woman had her hands on the counter-top in a very aggressive stance and YELLED at me across the cafe "DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM HERE?" My friend commented that he thought the next thing she was going to do was invite me to 'step outside'. It was so weird and startling. I was so upset I left the cafe for a few minutes to cool off. Eventually our food was served. Well, most of it. She never did get me my latte! We each got breakfast burritos. They were okay. Nothing really special. After we ate and paid... as we were walking out the door she apologized for not bringing me my latte. I replied, "and your attitude?" She came out from around the counter and started to argue with me. I told her I didn't want to hear it and kept walking. Needless to say, I will never go back there. The food wasn't good enough to bother with the place. Plenty of other places to eat in Jerome that won't treat customers like crap. EDIT: Your comment is comical and extreme. There were five people in our party. All of the guys are over 50 years old. We were quiet and took our table. It was around 11:30am. Two of our party went up to order from the man behind the counter. They all ordered the same thing. You even joked around with one of our guys when he ordered dessert! Later, I was told by both my friends and your partner (the woman I met outside) that the man behind the counter told my friends they could pay after eating. The woman I met outside (co-owner) told me that you all had been confused because it had been so busy and you weren't sure what the guy had told us. I did not "yell at you on the street". You and I were never on the street. You followed me to the door as my friends and I were leaving and I refused to talk with you and I walked out and left. Apparently, I am not the only customer you have been rude to. I have been contacted by two other people who were treated poorly by you. Good luck.

Very cute place, yummy coffee! Didn't get here in time for the food (food ends at 3pm) but a must stop before leaving town :) Definitely recommend and will come back next time we make it to Jerome! A little pricey, paid $12 for two drinks but I think it was worth it.

Awesome gluten free cookies here :) iced latte was a perfect match for the cookie and the hot day. Customer service was great. It's a cute small little shop at the bottom of the hill. Nice when you don't wanna be around all the crowds.

I had the vegetarian black bean tostada (apparently the 7th ordered in a row) and it was fabulous. Check it out. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. I went on Thurs at 1230 and there was little waiting. Locals and tourists alike seem to be here and that is a good sign. Highly recommended and I will go back next time I visit Jerome.

It was approximately 11am. We had a party of two and were looking for some breakfast before exploring the rest of Jerome. We decided on the Flatiron. The Flatiron is very tiny, but fortunately there weren't too many patrons on this particular Sunday morning. We didn't feel like coffee so we asked for a couple of waters. We were directed to a self-serve station. The place is small so I scooted past the employee to get a couple of waters. We were then also told to order at the counter when we were ready. So I stood up and walked 2 feet to place my order. About 30 minutes later our food came out. I had the breakfast burrito and my friend had the bagel sandwich. It was okay and the ingredients were fresh, but they were a little bland. I went up to the counter to pay and the only options for tipping were 18%, 20%, and 25%. Kind of ridiculous considering the only service I had were directions on how to serve myself. Overall it's an okay breakfast place in a 5 star town.

A favorite place in Jerome for an early morn big, bold black excellent coffee. A treat watching them work in their open, rustic kitchen. Good folks running the place and it's probably the most unique location in Jerome!

The appeal of a local coffee spot in a spooky ghost ghost town is hard to ignore. However- I am leery of the Flatiron hype.... I found the service to be okay, my Iced Americana to be "alright" and the cappuccino to be standard. If you seek some mid-day caffeine rejuvenation, definitely hit up the Flatiron. However, if you are thinking of making a special trip, I suggest you to keep on trekking to Sedona. On a positive note, the decor was adorable and they had access to a lovely outdoor patio right across the way. I encourage local business and am happy that Jerome is fast becoming an AZ destination spot for travelers!

Driving up the steep road from Cottonwood to Jerome one of the first buildings encountered at the bottom of town (Yes. Top and Bottom best describe this vertical village) is the Flatiron Building housing the aptly named Flatiron Cafe. Reminiscent of the original Flatiron Building in Manhattan, it sits on a peninsula of one way streets going up and down town. Within is housed one of the more magical cafes in the Western Hemisphere. Who'd a thunk? Particularly on a frigid morning, it is great to step inside, grab a table by the windows, and order breakfast and coffee from the menu on the wall. As the other reviews have said so well, the cuisine is surprisingly good, all fresh ingredients and freshly baked breads, muffins, scones, and cakes. The Breakfast Burrito is a personal favorite, but you really can't go wrong with anything there. No one will look twice if you have the Bread Pudding for breakfast. It is that good! I have visited Jerome several times on my way to/from Flagstaff and farther north to the Grand Canyon and the Navajo Reservation, and loved my time there. The Flatiron Cafe is always one of my first and last stops, as it begins to feel like home after a while. It is a way station symbolizing a place where energy and spirit can be gathered before or after a long journey. Thank you other Yelpers for turning me on to the Flat upstairs. I have not stayed there yet, but I intend to the next time I am in town. It will be great to go down for breakfast in my PJ's and slippers and really treat the Flatiron as my living room, as I imagine the copper miners visiting the bordellos that thrived around the corner.

We had coffee and a couple of breakfast items. The coffee was amazing, but the food had no flavor and was blah. The service was HORRIBLE!!! The crew had zero personality and didn't smile once. Worst experience, especially being on vacation for valentine's day. Never again!!

I go to the Flatiron every time I make the trek to Jerome from Phoenix. It is a tiny little spot that is beautiful and quaint. The staff has always been friendly and helpful in helping me decide on a menu choice. I've had the "Sunday Waffle of the Day" several times and so far my favorite was the carrot w/currants and cream cheese icing. The salmon quesadilla has to be my favorite lunch time item. The salted caramel latte is always my drink of choice. I keep saying I'll try something different but I always end up ordering it again. This place is not your run of the mill eatery. Its made fresh from items purchased locally within hours of it being served. Its healthy and organic, with a large selection of gluten free items. These are the reasons I keep going back again and again. It does lead to higher prices and longer wait times but it is so worth it!

What a awesome building! Albeit, not as big as New York's Flatiron....I personally prefer this building over the original. Locally sourced ingredients, artisanal coffee, and a cute interior make this place a worth while visit. Everything I tried was wonderful and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

Recommend coming here! Friendly staff (though they were a bit short up front, but became nicer as we interacted with them more), great tasting house-made pastries, yummy lattes, delicious (and beautiful) breakfast offerings... need I say more? See my pictures for the beautiful lox and sandwiches we had. This was a gem and I'll come back here anytime I'm in the area...

Thank you Yelp! After reading all the reviews about the bread pudding, the boyfriend and I decided to check it out for ourselves. O.M.G. you guys were right! It's really really really good! If I hadn't just eaten lunch I would have ordered more food based on the awesomeness of the bread pudding alone. Not sure if they ever change it up but what we had was white chocolate cherry served with some kind of creamy boozy (i think, at least it tasted boozy) sauce on the side. The sauce was so good boyfriend actually drank what was leftover! The restaurant itself is tiny but charming. They have 3 tables and a few stools at the counter. Very cozy and comfortable. The two women working behind the counter were friendly as well. For all the times we've been to Jerome I can't believe we never stumbled in here before. We will be adding the bread pudding to our Jerome-must-haves list for sure.

If you are ever on your way to Sedona and drive through Jerome, stop and have breakfast here. The staff are young, friendly hipster folk who obviously care about the food they serve. The Southwest breakfast burrito is a bit pricey for the size but makes up with flavor and quality. The place itself, the Flatiron building has been many different businesses over the years. It's a cool vibe, TINY place with bench seating, very rustic. You get your own condiments from the "bookshelf" and put them back yourself, you return your plates to the counter when finished but it all adds up to making you feel at home. The Latte's are on par with any other "high end" coffee shop and to be honest, one of the best I've had. There is a little sign on their fridge that says "Love people, cook them tasty food". I think that says it all!

I stopped by here yesterday morning with my fiance and parents on a cold and rainy morning in Jerome. The restaurant itself is quite a small space with three tables (a 6 top, 4 top and 2 top) as well as a bar that seats 4. Whenever the four of us walked in the only available table was the two top but thankfully the lady working the counter had people that were sitting at a table larger than their party move over to the two top. For our coffee's both my fiance and I decided to go with Americano's while my fiances' mother went with a mocha and her dad went with a decaffeinated vanilla cappuccino. It took a little while for our drinks to come out to us and they all came out one at a time which was fine since none of us had anywhere to be. During that time we were also able to read more about the flatiron and how they have to bring their food up daily and that all that they have to cook with is an induction burner. I thought that was pretty cool and gave me a better perspective on the the place. My Americano ended up being pretty good, it was strong but smooth and the warmth of it was nice after being out in the rain. The good sentiments about our coffees were from everyone and my fiance's mom especially loved her mocha. She described it as a good coffee with just enough chocalate that you could taste it but not so much that it is overly sweet. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. The coffee was good and the shop charming and maybe the next time that I come back we will be hungry enough to try some of the delicious looking food.

a review two years later... I *still* am thinking about how freaking good those scrambled eggs were! i know, riiiight? since when are scrambled eggs remotely memorable? the flatiron opened my lifetime-of-dull-scrambled-eggs eyes. get this - they STEAM the eggs with the frothing wand on the espresso machine. I N C R E D I B L E. the coffee was super. the server was delightful. the joint is super tiny but you should go anyway. was visiting from ohio with my VBF (Very Best Friend). plus food always tastes better when I get to share it with her.

I didn't try any of the sandwiches there, but boy did they look amazing!! The service was outstanding, and I LOVED the atmosphere, its a cute little coffee shop, I wish I lived closer, as I would make it make it my normal stop if it was.

Based on all the other reviews I've read, we must have caught this place on an off day. We came here because of the reviews, on a Sunday late morning, to get a couple drinks on our way out of town. The woman who helped us wasn't particularly friendly, and didn't seem really happy to be there. The man, who seemed like the manager, seemed to be in an even worse mood. Eye contact wasn't made, and we weren't made to feel welcome. My husband wasn't impressed with his coffee drink, and my hot chocolate was nothing to write home about. Kind of upsetting, considering all the rave reviews this place has received.

My wife and I stopped into the Flatiron for coffee and dessert. I would say we entered tentatively after reading the negative reviews here on Yelp. We were pleasantly surprised. the young man and young lady were very nice, polite and helpful. We had the Latte, which was perfect, and brownies which were wonderful. The whole experience was delightful. I would recommend the Flatiron to anyone especially if you are looking for a spot that is very different and unique.

Wow! Be sure to come on a Sunday and have a waffle. One of the best my dad and I have ever had... And it's gluten free! The people here are very friendly and just as incredible as the food. We also had the salmon quesadilla - delicious! Going to try and recreate it at home.

This place is small and full of character. It is super cozy too. The food was delicious. I got the chicken salad sandwich and side of soup. I don't even like chicken salad but the fact that it comes with herbs, cranberries, and walnuts won me over. My bf got the salmon quesadilla. We got a mocha and bread pudding to share. It is all homemade and tastes fresh. The mocha was absolutely perfect. Not too sweet. They serve excellent coffee here. I wish this place was close to me because I would go all the time.

Food was good but service was extremely slow. There were 3 employees and maybe 10 customers at the busiest point. A cup of (self serve) water, scrambled eggs and toast took over an hour. Don't stop if you are in a hurry.

Met a friend here for an early lunch in the middle of the week. Such a great location, atmosphere, service....and the food was amazing!!!! I had the smoked salmon quesadilla... unreal! You must also have the bread pudding for dessert! I would say skip the honey sweetened lemonade. The lemonade itself would have probably been pretty good.

What a find! Smallest restaurant I've ever been in, but packed with atmosphere and delicious food. Co-owner Amy is a delight who knows how to make amazing food in a minimum of space. Best bet: spinach and salmon quesadilla for breakfast. Yummeee.

Walking up and down the streets of Jerome can make you hungry. Thank goodness , the Flatiron Cafe is right in the middle of it just like a wedge of pie it sits at the fork in the road, a tiny little place with just enough space for three little tables. With just my family there, it seemed packed. The Flatiron has a combination coffee bar feel with a bit of Seattle grunge thrown in. ( probably the good coffee I am smelling.) You must order at the counter after looking over the menu. We had tasty roast beef sandwiches , my kids loved the horseradish dressing on the side as well as the capers and my little one had a cheese crisp plain . I had the chicken cheese crisp with cilantro pesto which gave a unique southwest flavor. I liked that the offered honey lemonade and plain unsweetened lemonade. Very refreshing. If you ever find yourself in Jerome give it a try .Sandwiches and soups are the main focus as well as tasty cup of Joe.

Smoked Salmon Quesadilla and the Breakfast burrito!! YES YES YES YES YES!!! DUDE, this little breakfast/brunch place rocks my socks in Jerome. If you happen to drive through, please visit this place. It's a tiny shop with awesome views of little wittle bitty Jerome and offers a nice variety of breakfast/brunch options. The price was great and the service was awesome. This kid not older than 18 years old cooked our food from scratch right in front of us and rocked it! Thoroughly impressed!

Our experience was mixed. We were impressed by the friendly and responsive service. All of us had their soup of the day, which was chicken soup. Unfortunately, it lacked flavor as it was watery and bland. But the salad that came with it was good. I had the salmon quesadilla and it was excellent. The lemonade was fresh squeezed and was really refreshing. You could see that the water was nicely filtered too. Considering almost everything else was good, maybe they were just having an off day on the soup. Or maybe they should just take chicken soup off the menu.

We just had coffee at this place (because we made the unfortunate decision to eat somewhere else). The coffee was great. I had a Latte that was better than anything that has ever came across a Starbucks counter. Loved the hipster guy that made it. Nice hat, dude. He reminds me of someone I would have partied with in the old days.

This is an awesome place! Everything is made fresh, the coffee is wonderful, and the service is friendly. The mexi-corn was delicious, and unlike anything I'd ever had before. The breakfast burrito was just the right size, and baked to perfection. The soup of the day was vegetarian black bean, and also fantastic. I also recommend the bread pudding.

Whenever I travel to little cities in Arizona, I'm always concerned about the tourist trap: cheap food that is price inflated to make a quick buck. There's a handful of touristy restaurants in Jerome, but this one is as far from that category as possible. This should be your #1 cafe to eat at while in Jerome. There is both outdoor and indoor seating, but like so many before me have commented, the inside is cozy and smells like a combo of a wood cabin and fresh herb gardens with a pinch of fresh coffee (aka it smells pretty good). 1) I've never had bread pudding in my life till I had it here. I didn't realize how good it was until I started tasting bread pudding at other places. They make one fresh batch every morning and it's usually gone by noon time...so if you show up around 11am, you'll be golden. 2) The white mochas they make are huge and is more than enough to be shared by two people. Smooth and a warm treat if you are traveling in the winter time. 3) It can get busy, but the staff is extremely friendly and they always check up on you. 4) I had the salmon quesadilla. I am always hesitant to mix fish and cheese, but it worked out pretty deliciously. Fresh salmon, fresh salad, and the perfect amount of cheese. Their ingredients are perfectly mixed and matched to provide an excellent lunch time experience. 5) My gf had the chicken salad sandwich. This is the only chicken salad sandwich I will eat. This chicken salad was light and had a good amount of herbs to create a unique taste. The one thing about this place is that it is very vegetarian friendly. The chicken salad sandwich is the only thing with chicken which is we decided to order it. So if you are indeed hankering for some meat or chicken, this may not be the place for you, but if you want something healthy and tasty in a cozy environment - go here.

I know it's a tradition people goes to Hunted Hamburger when they're in Jerome. But this place from the people to the food were AWESOME! It's not a huge place, but we were luck to get the last four bar stood. The coffee is 'ridiculous awesome' coming from the guy that works there. And he was right. The coffee was smooth and ridiculous awesome. They steam the eggs for the breakfast menu, healthy and good. Breakfast burrito was baked with bubbly melted cheese on top. Who can ask for more? It even came with a little side salad. My only wish was I had room for their bread pudding...which they had it right in front of me and staring back. Next time bread pudding first!

My fiancee and I drove down to Jerome for the night and had planned on eating lunch at the Flatiron Cafe but, although the signs said they were open, the door was locked and we were a bit confused. But Jerome is a weird town so we decided to come back the next day for breakfast. There is very little seating inside but they have a patio across the street if the weather is warm enough. We grabbed a table inside and ordered some food. The food took about 20 minutes to come out and, meanwhile, the staff were buzzing around fulfilling orders for other customers and handling the morning coffee rush. The food was very fresh and well-balanced and the service was consistently attentive throughout our meal. I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 because the coffee I had was absolutely atrocious. These guys obviously take their coffee seriously; they have a full page menu of offerings. But I ordered a macchiato and the shots were over-extracted, the milk had no volume. Overall, the drink just tasted like it had been made by a novice barista. And there was a new employee behind the counter making the drinks so that might be the reason for the horrible coffee. I would still try their coffee again in the future. This place is a gem!

Flat: Super clean, super friendly, very comfortable, coffee, fridge, everything you need. Walking distance to all attractions. Compared to other BBs and hotels this is a steal!!!! The owners are absolutely fantastic and super friendly and professional. This is the only place I will stay at when traveling to Jerome. Cafe: Yummy coffee and amazingly tasty and fresh food!!!!!!

Super cool little coffee shot/cafe. I had the salmon quesadilla and it was delicious. There was plenty of smoked salmon and it was topped with a dill sauce. It came with a small side salad topped with a great balsamic vinaigrette. Service was great and very friendly. When I was there, it wasn't too busy and I had a nice chat with the owner and another barista. I would definitely recommend The Flatiron and definately go back.

Who would have thought the best place to get a breakfast burrito ANYWHERE, was in Jerome at this little cafe. The inside only has 3 tables and a small bar area, but it's so cozy and has such a great vibe. I ordered a mushroom breakfast burrito with egg, roasted red peppers, some sort of pickled cactus part and cheese. They make this PHENOMENAL fresh cilantro salsa that tastes fantastic with that burrito. I wish I could teleport from the depths of Phoenix for some cool weather and this amazing burrito all the time.

Just bought by the owner of Quince down the street. Cute place, friendly staff,& tasty food- everything you want from a lunch place. Loved the smoked salmon quesadilla & the bagel sandwiches were perfectly toasted. There's a cute patio if you can get a seat.

My wife and I stayed at the Flat, and would come back in a heartbeat! We loved this little loft for its cozy. rustic atmosphere, with modern accoutrements. The views are enjoyable, as you are right in the heart of Jerome, and you can head up to the roof for some stargazing, as we did. The place was spotless, and the bed was amazing. We felt that The Flat was a good value, but the meal package really sweetened the deal. The Flat is owned by Vlad Costa, who also owns Quince, down the road, and the Flatiron Cafe below. We had a complimentary dinner at Quince (delicious!) and a breakfast at the Cafe (also delicious). I'd highly recommend staying at The Flat. The only thing that prevents me from giving 5 stars is the informality of the meal package. It would be nice to have tickets or a voucher, so that the servers know you're for real.

Who would expect to find amazing coffee in an old copper mining town? This place brews some great joe - and if you have some time to sit and linger - go for the brew-to-order top fill (I think that's what the barista called it) method and pick what sort of coffee you're into. The service was incredibly sincere and nice - the bread pudding looked amazing, but we just went for a bagel and that was fresh, toasted perfectly and satisfying. And to top that off, it's in a charming triangle space in the heart of Jerome.

I can't speak for the food; I can only speak for the service. After driving all night from California and taking a nap at our hotel I was anxious to explore Jerome and grab a bite to eat. I had read all of the Yelp reviews of The Flatiron so I was looking forward to eating there. However it appears we got there a little too close to closing time and could tell by the attitude we received that they didn't really want us there. We were asked by each of the people behind the counter if we would be joining them for lunch but with an exasperated attitude that said it was really a little too late for them to serve us. Like, hey girls hurry it up already! So at that point my mom decided to just grab a drink to-go and we moved along. I am sure the food is great as others have described, just make sure you get there early enough.

My wife and I visited Jerome and the surrounding area for our anniversary in April. In searching for a unique place to stay, we stumbled upon the "flat" above the Flatiron Cafe. What a total surprise. The one-room apartment was perfectly clean, comfortable, quiet and decorated simply and eclectically. The king size bed was the best part - clean white sheets full of fluff and probably 4-6 pillows. Plus, fresh ground coffee and cold cream welcomed us in the kitchenette. The owners of the cafe/flat, Tom and Kat, were an absolute joy to meet and were so hospitable. They made us feel so welcome and spent time getting to know us and telling us about their town. We used our daily food credit eagerly and enjoyed a wonderful salad, sandwich, bread pudding, and a yogurt parfait. It was all freshly made to order and tasted great. I also had a specialty "pour over" coffee made by Matt their barista and it was honestly one of the best coffees I have in a long time. The cafe is situated right in the middle of town so we walked to everything. It was a perfect place to stay - I would highly recommend it for a couples getaway or even a family with one small child. We'll be back for sure!

We just ate at the Flatiron. I had the White Albacore Tuna Sandwich and my wife had the Black Bean Hummus Vegan Wrap. Both our meals were WONDERFUL! We topped it off by sharing a piece of their Dried Cherry Bread Pudding. YUM! We are staying in the flat they rent upstairs for a couple of days so this won't be our only meal on this visit.

Missed the bread pudding...but the chicken salad was great! Coffee was good. This place is small with no bathroom. FYI.

  • Samantha d.

The service was very good. The menu is small, so maybe not the best place if you're picky like me. The cafe sits on a really large hill (as does the whole city of Jerome), so the seating is a little wonky... I couldn't get a chair that didn't lean one way or another. The coffee was excellent, though.

  • Camille R.

The coffee here was ridiculously good. I almost never have it black but that day I did. That maybe doesn't say much since I probably just cancelled myself out for knowledge but I have to say that there was absolutely no bitterness to it but a full bold and delicious cup. Great setting and location too.

Flatiron haunts (not spooks) me. Jerome is a copper mining town, but Flatiron Cafe is a diamond in the rough. My view of Jerome has been shaped by Flatiron. On a sunny, languid November afternoon, I was greeted by the warm smile of owner Tom. The staff was relaxed and welcoming, exuding an energizing lightness as they went about their work. The lentil soup with root vegetables was fresh, and the bread pudding warming - I don't mean the opposite of stale and I'm not referring to the temperature of the pudding. Extremes and hyperbole don't suit Flatiron. I wouldn't use words like awesome, exceptional, incredible or amazing. What I sought at the vortexes of Sedona, I found here: a peaceful and uplifting experience with sunshine balancing the cool air, nourishing eats and happiness all around. My time at the cafe fulfilled me more than all the vortexes of Sedona. Thank you, Tom, Cat and Staff.

While driving to Sedona from Scottsdale, my friends and I decided to go out of the way and take a mountain drive. 20 very scary minutes later, we found ourselves in Jerome, and despite knowing nothing about the town we knew we had to stop and at least catch our breath after the winding, cliff-oriented experience we just had on the road. Jerome itself was actually one of the coolest, most charming tourist towns I've ever seen, and the Flatiron seemed like one of many neat little restaurants on the main drag. I'm glad we stopped here for lunch, because it hit the spot in a way that I'm not sure another restaurant could have. I had the soup and 1/2 sandwich meal, while my friends got some kind of sandwich wrap. We all were floored at the awesomeness of our food; my tuna salad was simple, yet great, and the clam chowder was absolutely outstanding. It had hints of dill and parsley and taragon and there were no potatoes (a plus in my book), making it easily the best clam chowder I've ever had outside of the East Coast. At the end I asked if they had any cookies (it sounded good), and our server instead busted out this line (I'm paraphrasing but it's close): "No, we don't have any cookies. We do have a homemade bread pudding served with a cream sauce drizzle that was just made this morning." So of course, all three of us then had awesome bread pudding, which was clearly great (perhaps not so great later when we attempted an uphill bike ride). I suspect that this place is probably a five-star cafe if I had more times to visit here, but I can say without question that if you're in Jerome, you should probably stop in here for some fantastic sandwiches and soup. And hopefully they made bread pudding that morning too.

We were in Jerome for five days for the town's new film festival, and we came here to the Flatiron every day...sometimes twice a day. Everything we tried was fantastic...black bean hummus burritos, gazpacho (with little chunks of peach!), waffles (Sunday morning only, but worth the wait), stellar espressos -- and chocolate chip cookies, literally fresh from the oven and set out right in front of us where we sat at the counter. (Couldn't resist.) The Flatiron was one of the highlights of our stay in Jerome!

Had a great lunch at the Flatiron while in Jerome today. It was a lovely day, so we ordered inside and sat outside on the little patio across the street; they brought our food to us when it was ready. The smoked salmon quesadillas and the breakfast burrito were both big hits with our foursome. Other restaurants we walked by after lunch were noisy and chaotic - we made the right choice!

White Albacore Tuna Sandwich - YUM! Applewood Smoked BLT - YUMMMMMM! This cozy little cafe on Jerome's Main St. had great food and the most pleasant staff. We read about this place from Arizona Highway's best restaurant list. They got this one right! If you are planning on a trip to Jerome, AZ - don't miss the Flatiron Cafe.

Delicious Caffe Mocha! It was also beautiful presentation. I only ordered a bagel and cream cheese, and it was one of the best and freshest tasting bagels I've had. My boyfriend ordered a Southwest Breakfast Quesadilla and you could just tell how fresh everything was. I definitely tried to eat all his food. I wish I had more time to go back there repeatedly but we were only in Jerome for a short time. The employees are friendly and I can't wait to go back!!

I worked in Jerome for over three years and there was no other restaurant I frequented as much as the Flatiron Café. It is a small space - but with a very fitting ambiance for Jerome (an old mining town on the side of a mountain). As well, they have patio space across the street for those busier moments when more space is needed - or simply if you prefer dining outdoors. The food here is delicious - especially the Roast Beef and Capacolla sandwiches - both of which are full of flavor - not in the least bit bland. I also enjoy the Chicken Quesadilla because of the excellent pesto sauce that it is topped with. The soup creations are almost always "spot on" and very unique. They also have various breads that are very good indeed. I would usually finish the meal with a mocha - expertly prepared - definitely the best I have ever experienced - and very much miss, since I haven't been there in some time...

Excellent food made with love. Had a Mexi-Corn plate of warm tortilla chips served with roasted corn, spicy mayo, lime and cotija cheese. Soup of the day - black bean with foccaccia, and their Flatiron bread pudding: dried wild cherries, white chocolate, sourdough, brandies cream sauce.

My wife and I visited Jerome as part of a three-day motorcycle ride across Arizona. A cool and funky town for sure. We stopped into Flatiron around 10:30 on a Friday morning. Service was friendly and quick. The espresso was badass and delicious. I had a smoked salmon quesadilla and my wife enjoyed a black bean hummus veggie wrap. We will be back.

A must-visit place when you go to Jerome. "Gourmet" gets thrown around way more than it deserves to, but their food is definitely that well thought out. Also, don't be afraid to sit at the outdoor patio across the street. No kidding, they serve the tables across the street. It's not a terribly wide street, but it's theirs.

What a wonderful, friendly, cozy, and delicious way to enjoy Jerome. The Flatiron Cafe is on the corner when you drive into Jerome and is owned by Tom and Cat. The food was absolutely fabulous. My wife and I had both breakfast and lunch there and were amazed at the quality of food that we enjoyed as well as the friendliness that Tom and his buddy Chad rained down on us. They knew everyone who came in, greeted all newbies as old friends, and generally made you feel welcome as soon as you walked into the door. You would do well to make this your first stop when exploring Jerome!!!

LOVED, LOVED this place! We went to this tiny little café for breakfast one Sunday morning. We sat on the patio, which is just a couple tables on a little upstairs patio situated right across the street from the actual restaurant. The service was prompt and polite. The coffee is amazing, just as everyone has mentioned! I'm not sure what they do to it, but probably the best café latte I've ever had! For the meal, I had the Smoked Salmon quesadilla and hubby had the granola and yogurt plate. Even though it was morning, I ordered the lunch preparation of the quesadilla; essentially, replaced the eggs with spinach..perfect. I must admit that I'm one of those people that picks apart everything about a meal and will think of ways of enhancing the preparation to make the food taste even better....however, with this meal, I had no comments! Both plates were unbeatable. I kept saying that I never wanted the meal to end! Love this place and will go back every time we're in Jerome!

We stumbled across this quaint little restaurant as we wandered the streets of Jerome. I was skeptical at first due to the limited menu and size of the place (seats maybe 15) but the food more than made up for it! I had the chicken salad sandwich and it was AWESOME; made fresh daily! By the time we had finished our meal, there were people waiting for tables. Did I mention that the staff was friendly too? I believe there is outdoor seating as well, but it was still a bit cool for that on the day of our visit. Will definitely return if I'm ever in the area again!

I have been going to the Flatiron for years and years. I always come away thinking how great my breakfast was. The food is excellent. The quaint atmosphere, whether inside or across the street overlooking Jerome, is so homey and makes me want to bring my friends and family when they come into town. I actually have a nice story about The Flatiron. I met my boyfriend for the first time for breakfast there. We met for an hour, had great food, sat inside by the window and had a lovely time together. That was a great beginning to a wonderful relationship. We are now together 6 months and having a great time. We talk about that breakfast a lot and it is such a great memory.

Just stopped in today on our way out of town from a lovely weekend getaway. I was looking for something fresh and healthy as opposed to greasy, run-of-the-mill tourist fare. Boy was I delighted to read this menu posted outside the cafe's door! The specials of the day were chicken salad with cranberries and bread pudding. Intriguing! We were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. Our kind server even opened the blinds to the window next to our table, so that we could enjoy some warm sunshine and a fantastic view of the bustling street. There aren't too many tables in the cafe, but it is DEFINITELY worth waiting around for a chance to eat here. Sadly there was also no restroom, but that's almost expected in this other-worldly town. The quaint charm of Jerome is lucky to have this restaurant among its unique treasures. I ordered the carrot ginger soup, and I could not stop raving about it as I gobbled it up! I also got a house salad and iced tea, both of which were prepared fresh right behind the counter in front of us, as we waited! The boyfriend opted for the ceasar salad with his combo, and it looked amazing with freshly grated parmesan flakes all over it! Mmmm! Everyone was very friendly and asked where were from, etc. Eating here is like dining at a really cool relative's house, if that relative were really into fresh veggies!

This apartment is above the Flatiron Cafe, and the owners of the Cafe rent it to overnight guests. We accidentally ended up here when the innkeeper at another B&B in town double booked her rooms for Labor Day weekend. She called her friend Brian and asked if we could stay in the apartment above the Flatiron. I'm so glad things worked out the way they did! This apartment is adorable! It has a tiny little bathroom and a tiny little kitchen. The art is eclectic and fitting. The bed is comfortable, and the frame was made by a friend of the apartment (and Cafe) owner, which is somehow perfect. B&Bs can be old or frou frou in a way that makes me feel like they are dusty or unclean -- this little apartment is immaculately clean. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Everything you could want in a place to eat in a charming arts town: cozy space filled with sunshine from all sides, friendly and engaging hosts, imaginative takes on home cooking with excellent ingredients, masterful preparation and charming presentation. Also, the place is immaculate. We didn't know about the little studio rental upstairs, but when the owner insisted on giving us a tour we thought it would be a wonderful place to stay for a few days. When in Jerome, don't miss the Flatiron Cafe.

I stopped in for an iced tea to go. Walking in a waitress was coming out with food and yelled at my friends and I to get out of her way. Then I stood at the counter right in front of the cook/barista and he didn't acknowledge me for a good 5 min. Not very good service at all so I left.

Love the Flatiron. Try to visit when ever I am in the area. Coffee, Food and Especially the Service are all exceptional. What A GEM in the mountains!

Food was good but service was extremely slow. There were 3 employees and maybe 10 customers at the busiest point. A cup of (self serve) water, scrambled eggs and toast took over an hour. Don't stop if you are in a hurry.

CUTE! This place is adorable. Went here for breakfast when staying in Jerome. Had the miner's breakfast and coffee. The service was quick and friendly. Food was delicious.

Lovely place! The owners were very nice and their breakfast burrito and scramble was awesome. I felt so relaxed here! I would def recommend if you are in Jerome! I wanted to try their bread pudding which looked amazing, but was too full :( Stop by and check them out!

Good luck.

Very cute place, yummy coffee! Didn't get here in time for the food (food ends at 3pm) but a must stop before leaving town :) Definitely recommend and will come back next time we make it to Jerome! A little pricey, paid $12 for two drinks but I think it was worth it.

Food was good but service was extremely slow. There were 3 employees and maybe 10 customers at the busiest point. A cup of (self serve) water, scrambled eggs and toast took over an hour. Don't stop if you are in a hurry.

We got their vanilla iced toddy! Very good and cool on a warm day! Very cute and creative location. Very friendly staff! Loved it!

What a find! Smallest restaurant I've ever been in, but packed with atmosphere and delicious food. Co-owner Amy is a delight who knows how to make amazing food in a minimum of space. Best bet: spinach and salmon quesadilla for breakfast. Yummeee.

Went to Flatiron lunch spot with 3 friends. Outside dinning across street is highly recommended. Paninis are fantasitic. Perfect place to stop when passing through Jerome AZ.

The service was very good. The menu is small, so maybe not the best place if you're picky like me. The cafe sits on a really large hill (as does the whole city of Jerome), so the seating is a little wonky... I couldn't get a chair that didn't lean one way or another. The coffee was excellent, though.
