Wow, what an awesome B&B. The Zombie Girl suggested we do a V-day getaway the weekend AFTER V-day. Great idea - avoid the crowds and potentially jacked-up prices. She did some searching and came up with this place, which I then checked out at tripadvisor.com . The reviews there were overwhelmingly positive, so we booked a 2-night stay for the weekend. Hereford is quite a hoof from Phoenix. If you know where Tombstone and Bisbee are, it's in the general area. The Casa is well off the beaten path, near the Miracle Valley religious retreat (Google "Miracle Valley" if you're not familiar with what happened there in the early 80's.. interesting story). The Casa consists of 10 guest rooms, arranged around a courtyard, with a great room with gas fireplace, kitchen, dining room, and a reading area facing into the courtyard. Your hosts are Patrick and Karl, and gracious and welcoming hosts they are. The breakfasts Karl prepared both days were over the top.. a variation on eggs benedict on Saturday morning, and scrambled eggs and oatmeal (much better and unique than that dish sounds like it would be). Fresh OJ was served, and there was a large selection of hot teas and coffee available. They bake fresh pies and cookies during the day, and there's always a large selection to choose from at all hours. Feel like another hunk of that killer mixed berry pie at 2am? No problemo, the kitchen and great room are open all night. Once a month there is a cooking class held there, and it happened to fall on our weekend, so we participated (extra cost over the stay) and prepared a meal for about 13 people, 9 of us participating in the preparation and class. It was a lot of fun and turned out great! There were several people who were there for repeat visits, and Karl informed me that 45% of their business is repeat business. Many of their guests are "birders", and there is a good bird population in the area for them to peruse. The rooms are spotless, the beds & linens are great, and the entire place has a comfortable, homey feel. There is a free laundry facility onsite, which can come in very handy for travelers on extended trips. 2 resident dogs are present, and they allow dogs (with a deposit and extra fee) if you want to bring Fido. No TVs in the rooms (and not missed at all), but there is WiFi and a community computer in the great room, and a TV there as well. We ventured into Bisbee on Saturday, our first visit. Really cool place to spend the day shopping and exploring. All in all, a great, memorable weekend. We have already booked a return trip.
What a great inn. It is located between Sierra Vista and Bisbee and a very quiet and beautiful spot. Great walking and bird watching nearby as the property backs up to a nature reserve with a 2+mile walking loop. There is a labyrinth on site as well as a outdoor seating and grill for use. Spectacular views from every direction. The inn itself is well maintained and quaint. There are 10 rooms all with private entries from the central courtyard which had lots of seating and a fountain. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable and the heated blanket and electric fireplaces are a nice touch. The kitchen/living areas are great--lots of couches, chairs, a computer for use, wi-fi, tea/coffee and yummy fresh pies. Mmmm, pie. Make sure you try them. Breakfast was great. We had pancakes, fruit and sausage. If you have food requests be sure to request and they will handle them no problem. My husband was able to get scrambled egg whites (he is a health nut) and another women we were sitting was delighted to get her pancakes made with rice milk as she didn't do dairy. For dinner plan to either bring food to grill/microwave on site (there is a fridge available for personal storage) or drive about 30 mins to either Sierra Vista or Bisbee which have many options. There are also washers and dryers available for use. The inn keepers are fantastic. Very friendly and are a wealth of information on the surrounding area. They do an amazing job running the inn and truly deserve all these 5-star ratings! It was the perfect getaway from Tucson and we can't wait to go back!
The perfect oasis in the desert! Highly recommended. The owners are extremely nice and inviting. The breakfast is delicious. You won't be disappointed!
Be careful about what you order here--some things were great, and others were rather lackluster. The wood-fired sausage was dry and came with an overabundance of potatoes, the spaghetti and meatballs decent (but I would have loved some parmesan cheese for on top), and the pizzas were pretty good (and large!). The antipasto plate was woefully overpriced for what came out. We were a bit disappointed in the service--our server forgot to deliver an entree, and didn't come back to check on how we doing until the rest of us were halfway though our food. We finally had to flag another server down so our hungry friend could eat. They offered no discount on the missing entree. The kitchen missed a salad that someone else ordered, as well. Ambiance is pleasant, though, and our server kindly split our checks (and didn't add on the automatic gratuity even though we had a big party, which was nice). Slim pickings for food in this town, and given the competition, you might want to give this place a try.
The best Fettuccine Alfredo I have ever tasted...and in Hereford, Arizona? True friends! Outstanding service, lovely atmosphere, great visit with the owner and a wonderful surprise after a day of bird photography in this scenic, Southern Arizona "Sky-Island" and world famous birding area! All in all a great meal at Pizzeria Mimosa!
I love this place! Good food and great service. Excellent atmosphere! Always a treat.
We were looking for a more authentic Mexican restaurant near Sierra Vista and you can literally see the lights in Mexico from Ricardo's at night. Might as well have gone to Taco Bell. The service was slow and the food seemed microwaved. The authenticity was like that of a sinking Don Pablo's in upstate New York. At least we can say we tried it. We will not be going back.
The food and service was rather disappointing. We expected the food and service to be excellent. Our food was covered in cheese and when we told the waitress she gave us attitude. The only perks about this place are the ambiance and the portions.
The BEST Carne Asada Burrito anywhere!!! I this place. You gotta try it. My favorite Mexican food restaurant. Wish they were open for lunch as well as open in Sunday.
