We came to this place on a whim, having just left Jerome on our way to one of the local vineyards and in need of lunch. Our experience was surprisingly wonderful! We couldn't decide between brunch and lunch, so my fiancé had breakfast and I had lunch. Both were substantial, unique, and delicious. He had the huevos rancheros, and I had a southwestern quesadilla. Yum! We also decided to ask if they did catering, because we had not yet found somebody for our upcoming wedding rehearsal luncheon. Chef Michael came out immediately, very excited about the idea, and is now planning our luncheon with us, with great ideas and a lot of enthusiasm. We will check back in after, when we see how it goes. But for now, I definitely recommend this place for breakfast, lunch, or brunch!

Good food here, coffee is great! I would recommend this place for a quick breakfast or lunch. The Big Ol' Breakfast Burrito is big enough to share, other plates were good for one. All and all a good experience.

I am visiting Old Town Cottonwood from metro Phoenix. What a great experience, especially taking the advice of the locals to check out the Red Rooster Cafe. I am eating here for the 3rd day in a row. The staff is amazingly friendly and service focused. And the food and coffee is superb. You've got to try their breakfast sausage. It's got a little kick to it! The atmosphere has a Seattle feel to it. In addition to the indoor area there is also a fantastic covered patio area. Check it out...you're going to be glad you did!

I don't know why this place has so many stars because I was not impressed at all. I'm not a huge fan of order-at-the-counter for breakfast because I'm usually slow in the mornings and want to settle in and decide what to order and then hang out and get lots of coffee or tea refills. For a no wait staff place you'd expect it to be cheap but actually most of the items were three or four dollars more than you'd pay at a regular breakfast place like Mimi's or The Good Egg. Which I wouldn't have minded if we had actually enjoyed our food but neither my husband or I cared for what we got. He ordered the southwestern skillet ($12.95) which was a little weird because it came with a big pile of lettuce on top. Not really what you want for breakfast. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla ($7.89) which you would think is so basic you can't screw it up but there was this gross sauce slathered all over it. The menu had mentioned salsa and sriracha but I guess they make their own sauce that tasted sort of like thousand island salad dressing with a touch of sriracha in it. Yuck. I probably would never eat here again but I did add an extra star because the restaurant itself was nice looking and the people were friendly (though no one ever came to check on us... because, again, it is not full service.. boo).

WE loved Red Rooster!!!!! Thank you Tavern Hotel for the recommendation and promo here. As a paid hotel guest package, we were given a voucher good for "continental breakfast" for either Red Rooster or the neighboring Cafe place. We were extremely pleased we chose Red Rooster! Pleasant Staff, very adorable business throughout the design and accents. The food DELISH!!!! We loved their Huevos Rancho and their pancakes KILLER!!!! , We had 2 vouchers for each of us and was related we can either have the continental which was only a bagel and coffee OR we can order whatever we want with a discount of $5 per voucher. SweeeeT deal! During our mini vacay in the area we have loved: Page Springs Cellars, The Tavern Hotel, Nic's Italian Restaurant AND Red Rooster!!!!! :)

Boo for the bait and switch today Red Rooster. Big thumbs down for a total lack of customer service and for insisting I pay for a substituted item that was supposed to be included on my hotel package.

A great breakfast on a rainy morning! Found this place on yelp and the reviews were good so we decided to check it out. Seems like an awesome local business, friendly staff made us feel very welcome, interior was nicely decorated and very clean. We ordered the southwest skillet and breakfast burrito with sausage. Both portions were huge, fresh cooked, and extremely satisfying. The sausage was especially tasty, and the potatoes in both dishes were nicely browned and flavorful. My chai latte was also delicious. We will be back next time we're in town.

Not a very extensive menu. Ordered at the counter and given a number. Food was brought to us at the table, but no waitstaff to fill water glasses, coffee, etc. I tipped 20%, but with the fact you have to serve yourself, I wouldn't recommend it. Food was mediocre, nothing too extravagant than a typical cafe. In the end, I left a half cup of a latte on the table while I ran to the restroom only to find out that the remainder of my $5 coffee was thrown out. At least they cleared the table.

Nice spot where locals and out of towners meet. Yummy food. Try the huevos rancheros and breakfast burrito. Great service too!

Went here the other day. It was 3 of us. Came out to close to $60! $60 for breakfast?!?!?! Kindy steep, food was okay The lady at the counter had attitude. I ordered bacon and eggs. Bacon was pretty good. Eggs were ok. My wife ordered a Pancake (it was hugeeee) pancake was pretty solid. Very tasty. If you had to go here then go. But if i ever come back to CottonWood, i wont be coming back.

Love this place! Service is good, food is great and I like the outdoor courtyard. For lunch the BLT Salad is the BEST! I actually crave it! For breakfast get the basic bacon and eggs. Always fresh and prepared exactly as I order it. GREAT place for breakfast and lunch.

First, the people working the counter were very nice. They offered a menu that was above the counter in a little basket thing. I thought it odd at first because it looked like on of those free newspapers you grab from a wire basket. Its small cafe, with additional seating outside. Apparently towards the bathroom there is more seating, but didn't venture down the hall, I just say the painted sign. I really liked the color of the wall...a orangy/yellow. It wasn't bright or anything. But it complimented the seating and art on the wall. I ordered the specials. Chicken and goat cheese half sandwhich, roasted garlic and potato soup. The sandwhich was okay, the only thing I didn't like was the spring lettuce they put on it. It tasted like the just pulled it from the ground. The soup was where it was out. It wasn't cream based, and the broth in itself was so tasty!! It came with little pieces of bread, drop a piece in, let it soak and nom nom nom!! I got a root beer with my meal and it came in a huge glass, not those little 3 slurps and its gone glasses. It was a nice, just right lunch. Would definently come back. Inexpensive, I think it came to $11.00 ...not bad...

Good staff, nice ambience and amazing food! We stopped in from Phoenix for a quick breakfast and were blown away by the locally sourced meats and quality ingredients used in even simple meals such as breakfast burritos , sausage and pancakes. The cherry smoked bacon is almost worth the 120 mile drive alone. Even though we were stuffed, we wanted to order everything else on the menu because our meals were so good. Nice local touches with the design and menus as well. Go if you are in town. I promise you will not be disappointed!

We enjoyed this wonderful place for breakfast two days in a row. The food has that distinctive homemade, fresh, well prepared taste and the atmosphere and staff are a wonderful start to the day. It appears to be a big hangout for local regulars, since we watched one group of about 14 men, drinking their coffee, refilling their cups, clearing their own tables, and enjoying the patio. One very well behaved standard poodle shared the area, and was obviously a fixture. We didn't have time for lunch, but we'll make sure we plan that for the next trip to the area! The breakfast quesadilla was outstanding, with the addition of potatoes for a different take! I think I would be happy to eat that for breakfast AND lunch!

We've been on a road trip from Montana to Arizona and came through the area specifically for Jerome but ended up stopping here for breakfast one morning on a whim. It was brilliant! The staff was super friendly and the place was cute with a patio and a local vibe going on. We all ended up getting the breakfast burrito, one with bacon, one with sausage, and one with avocado. We agreed that it was the best breakfast we had had on the trip. They've got this potato/sweet potato medley thing going on inside with this cheesy but light sauce on top. So good. So fast forward to the end of the meal where we take off without my wallet or my friend's sunglasses. (we had made our way through some bars on the road trip too.) We were in Phoenix before I realized my epic fail at life and called to see if that's where I left it. They said they had it and after some dreading driving back two hours to retrieve the wallet, I asked them if they would send it through the mail. They totally did and declined my offer to pay them back for postage. It got here two days later under priority mail. So in summary, you might be able to find a cool vibe somewhere else, or a great bite to eat down the road, but finding a place with great atmosphere, great food, and great people make Red Rooster Café a must stop when visiting Cottonwood and Jerome!!!

Oh my god the staff here is so incredibly friendly it made my huevos rancheros taste that much better. Highly recommend this cute cafe for breakfast!

We too love the Red Rooster restaurant the open face breakfast sandwich was very good. The Tavern Hotel package deal we got was amazing as it included a gift card to try several of the restaurants in the Cottonwood historic downtown area and so far all of their recommendations have been great. I would highly recommend this restaurant and the Tavern Hotel.

After doing some wine tasting on an empty stomach, I was in serious need of lunch. One of the ladies at Stronghold recommended Red Rooster and it was a great lunch choice! You order at the counter, and they bring the food out to you. The service was quick and friendly. We opted for a seat on the patio, which was a great place to enjoy the beautiful weather. I had the Turkey Bacon Avocado Wrap which was spiced up a bit with Sriracha sauce. The wrap was super delicious, and light but filling. On the other hand, my boyfriend's sliders were a bit dry and bland. I heard their breakfast is good. I look forward to hopefully trying that on my next visit.

We absolutely loved this place on a weekend trip to Cottonwood. The place we stayed at, The Tavern Hotel, gave us vouchers to use here. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was amazing and the service was good. Don't miss this when you come into town! And stay at the Tavern if you want free food here! Lol

Seriously! Turkey reuben on ciabatta? Very sparse amount of turkey! Soggy soaked in dressing. No sides included or available to order other than salad or soup. This place is lucky they are in a tourist zone, I can't imagine returning as a local.

  • L P.

First of all, I didn't even know Cottonwood had an "old town" -(?) what a great discovery! Super cute shops and the prices are all REASONABLE compared to Sedona or typical touristy places. All people were very nice! This little cafe is cute and hip, and the food is delicious! I had the sweet potato broccoli cream soup and it was AH-MAZ-ING! I mean, damn, I could eat that every day! Came with foccacia bread. Parents had the tuna sandwich and the turkey bacon wrap which were delicious also. Prices were reasonable ($6-$9 for our food) totally totally worth eating here! Nice patio for outdoor eating. Go try it!!

Great food! Everything is made with the best ingredients, making for a great dish. I love the Turkey Avacado wrap & the chicken and goat cheese sandwhich. Mmm Mmmm

  • Nat W.

Their food is amazing! I had potato leek soup and hummus salad. My husband had turkey bacon avocado wrap. Everything was so delicious. Tea refill is free :) Service could be slow depending on how busy they are at the moment. I came in at a bad time, so it took about 30 min from ordering to recieving the food.

  • Kristine N.

I 'd this place. Service was fantastic. Menu was great. Like a newspaper. Food options were perfect. They have gluten free options (which I sadly have to choose) so it's nice that they accommodate. The food is fresh, hip, clean and flavorful. It's cafeteria style ordering, rooster decor, casual but high quality food. I can't wait to go back!

Had breakfast with my mom here at 9:30on a Wednesday morning. All I can say is the food was GLORIOUS. As other reviewers mention, the food is fresh, as locally sourced as possible, and of excellent quality. No one will rush you. The coffee is good. The staff is friendly and the vibe is relaxed. I couldn't imagine a more lovely breakfast. Worth every penny.

This is a nice little place in downtown Cottonwood. We stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning and the place was busy but not too busy. We ordered two breakfast quesadillas and a coffee and sat ourselves outside on the patio. There was a little entertainment with a man playing some instruments. Our food arrived promptly and was tasty. We would go back next time we are in Cottonwood.

The Red Rooster cafe in Old Town is an exceptional Cafe right in the heart of Old Town the service is exceptional the food is outstanding and now at night they even started serving street tacos until 9 p.m. I highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch and even for dinner for street tacos and a beer

Great place for food in Cottonwood. The only thing I would like is a little menu variety. Overall, you will love this place.

  • Lynne B.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch while in Old Town Cottonwood last weekend. We have eaten here before and the food is always very good. My issue is about the service...when we ordered there was some glitch with the computer but the woman helping us checked and the order went thru...so we sat down to wait. We waited and waited, we saw people who came in after us get their food. We were sitting right in front so it was easy to see that we had not gotten our food but yet no one checked on us. So there was a problem and the order did not go thru and I understand there are glitches like that...it happens. But when you have customers sitting in your restaurant without food...don't just walk by them!!!!

This place is a must try!! I've only had the turkey reuben, which is delicious!! Others I've dinned with have always been pleased with their food. Great service & great prices. They also serve mimosas which was a pleasant surprise!!

We had breakfast here it was great. The food is all made to order. Their breakfast potatoes have a mix of regular and sweet potatoes, awesome. However, the street musician performing on their patio lets his dog pretty much climb in all the patrons laps begging for food.

  • JANET L.

Had an enjoyable Sunday breakfast here, and it was great! Menu selection is limited, its an order at the counter and seat yourself kind of place with fun decor and a nice atmosphere. We has the breakfast burrito, and it rocked! Not only was it huge, but it was filled with egg, cheese, sweet potato, regular potato, bacon, avocado and well cooked onion...delicious! The coffee was good and service was friendly. It is a bit on the expensive side ($9.50 & $2.00 for the avocado), but I thought it was well worth it! We also had lunch here about 2 weeks ago and it was delicious. Almost forgot to mention, this place is located in quaint old downtown Cottonwood with cute/ eclectic shops and antique stores.

We had stayed in the Cottonwood Hotel & needed a place for breakfast. This was a good choice. Had scrambled eggs with crispy bacon. Both were done perfectly. The bacon was medium cut, applewood bacon. Very flavorful. They served fried potatoes with this. Dont usually eat the fried potatoes, but after we sampled them, it was hard to stop eating. The jelly served for toast was made inhouse. Strawberry and very, very good.

Service was excellent and so was the food. Friendly staff. Large food portions. Definitely a must visit place.

We got the breakfast quesadilla and the breakfast skillet. Both were fantastic and had a Southwestern flare. It took a while to get our food, but the wait wasn't crazy. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. There was lots more room in the back for seating, which seems to have been a different restaurant at one time. We would definitely go back here.

Great food and service. Outdoor seating for the cooler days. The cucumber water was a nice touch.

    (5)
  • Holly L.

Cool, friendly staff. Chai latte was yummy and big. The skillet with avocado and bacon was really good, probably big enough to split between 2 people with normal appetites. We will probably do that next time we go. The quesadilla was fine too but the skillet out shined it. Very much enjoyed our breakfast there but not giving it 5 stars because, as my husband said afterward, his "socks were still firmly on".

Wonderful Breakfast! Parking is on the street or a lot across the street. Go in, pick up a menu and order at the counter... they will give you a number and then deliver to your table. I had a delicious iced coffee and my meal was to die for. The pancakes are SO light and fluffy..bacon.. made extra crispy just liked I like melted in my mouth.. eggs and potatoes were also stellar. Delicious..

A sweet place to catch a healthy meal in Old Town Cottonwood. The potato-leek soup was delicious (could have been warmed up more though) and my tuna sandwich was was right up there with the best. My partner had a salad and hummus and thought they both were very flavorful. They close at 4 so we were glad to finally catch them open before departing northward. We will definitely eat there again when visiting Cottonwood.

Traveling through after hanging in Jerome. Mmmmm the St. Germaine Martini was awesome along with the build your own breakfast sandwich. They even had a choice of Gruyere cheese! Sit where you want and order at the counter. They give you a kitchen gadget with a number on it so staff can bring your order!! A great go to place for breakfast!!!!!

  • John S.

Had a great lunch here today. The lady who took my order was more than friendly, offering the perfect accommodations to suit my needs. I ordered the chicken and goat cheese and was greatly impressed. The chicken was juice and seasoned perfectly. After lunch I ordered an Americano that was just as tasty. I will definitely be returning.

Spent a couple nights in Cottonwood to get out of the hot and hit some great wineries. The hotel we stayed at offered complimentary continental breakfast at the Red Rooster and we went both mornings. Cute atmosphere...with a lovely large patio. Lots of funny gifty things on sale too, like band-aids that look like a strip of bacon (had to have those!) The coffee is terrific...some of the best I have had. Dark and very flavorful. But the prize was the homemade cinnamon rolls that the server talked us in to! WOW! These are the best I have ever eaten...seriously...and that includes my grandmother's cinnamon rolls that I grew up with! They literally melt in your mouth, and the glaze has got a maple flavor...wow. And thank heavens...NO RAISINS!!! Wish I lived closer...but my waistline is thankful......

Had lunch here today on a drive from Sedona. Really excellent homemade soups, salads, sandwiches and fresh squeezed lemonade. Grea staff and nicely decorated little cafe.

This place reminds me of what a good deli should be. They use high quality ingredients and the service is pretty quick. The soup is fresh which gets big points with me. They also had a good tea selection which I don't typically come across at these type of joints. The only ugh that I have to offer is the seating. You do seat yourself, which for me is not a problem, but it is pretty tiny. Okay it is really small. So if clearly hearing the conversation next to you is going to bug you, I would encourage you to get over it because the food is that good...especially for the area.

We enjoy coming here for breakfast before heading back to PHX. The ingredients are high quality and the coffee is great! Like many of the shops and restaurants it has a unique feel.

After seeing the other 4-5 star reviews decided to give this place a try and have to say i was a bit disappointed. To start I would say this place seemed more like a coffee shop that serves food than a cafe. Pretty limited menu for breakfast and not the cheapest eats, though it was damn tasty. Decor was nice, was greeted by staff when we walked in, they explained it was order at counter and they bring it out. We sat down and were looking over the menu when my wife mentioned the sweet potato pancakes. The server walked by and overheard, so decided to mention it was a Huge order. I figured great, can probably split it with my 3 year old. My wife ordered the Quiche and figured to share that with the 1 year old. Now for $9.95 and after the server said the order was huge, I expected some large pancakes. That they were not, I mean they were the same size as frozen pancakes, just a bit thicker. They did have some sugar apple slices and whipped butter which made them tasty as hell, but a bit misleading by server on size. Quiche was also small but tasty. Both came with a small cup of fruit covered in a yogurt sauce. Again tasty. With those two orders, a coffee, shot of espresso, orange juice, tax and tip the order was $30 and we didn't leave "full" by any means. This place seemed better for maybe a couple on romantic getaway than a place to take your family to eat. I might stop back without the kids, but would find a different place to take them.

Stopped by this place on a late Thursday afternoon. Great wraps and a nice patio. The Turkey Bacon Avocado Wrap was fantastic as well as the Chicken Salad wrap. My wife and I split the wraps and couldn't pick a favorite. Would definitely return when passing through Cottonwood.

They have really good lemonade. I didn't try the food, but still, I have a few opinions to share. First, I'm not sure what the weird leaf was in the bottom of my lemonade. I decided to ignore it, but it did bother me. Second, when I walked in the cashier approached me within my first few steps and handed me a menu. There's nothing wrong with that, but it felt more like she was putting the menu in my face. I equated her behavior with the annoying retail sales girls that wait by the entrance of a store and pounce on you with, "How can I help you today?". For me, it's not welcoming or authentic. I liked that they used biodegradable cups, but I found the staff and their friends chatting to be distracting and kind of loud. It made me feel like I was interrupting. All in all, I would probably pop in there again when I'm in town. It seemed like they might have some good stuff, but I think for such a quiet atmosphere they should work on rapport with the customers. It would probably increase their sales and repeat business. I for one, might have had lunch there if it was more inviting.

This place is the best! I've been here many times for breakfast and lunch. My favorites are the breakfast burrito, quesadilla, and hummus wrap. I've had a few of their soups and they are always great. Service is consistently friendly and quick and the patio is already a great place to enjoy your meal.

Have been here several times for breakfast and lunch over the past couple years. The food has always been great and served promptly. The staff have always been friendly and helpful if I'm deciding on which tea to choose or which desert to indulge in. The quiche is my favorite thing on the menu. The salads are always fresh and tasty. Sandwiches are good, too. It's become my favorite cafe in Old Town. And here is an update. . My new favorite breakfast is the open - face sandwich with asparagus between crunchy whole grain toast and 2 perfect eggs. Topped with just a drizzle of a light creamy hollandaise - like sauce. .. Absolutely delightful. ...

What an awesome little restaurant in Cottonwood. My husband and I took the boys (1 and 3) for a weekend getaway to Camp Verde but stayed in Cottonwood. We drove past a few breakfast places on Saturday morning but Yelp reviews steered us into the Red Rooster. We're so glad they did! It was casual, which is great for the toddler crowd; it was clean; and most importantly: tasty! We had pancakes, breakfast burrito, and home fries. All was very tasty. It came out quick, the staff was friendly, the decor was cute, all around a great place for morning breakfast. The four stars comes from having Pepsi products. Sorry, I just can't handle Pepsi products.

There are many reasons to go to the Cottonwood area, but the Red Rooster is the best reason. Great good for a reasonable price, and nice people too.

What pleasant surpise in Old Town Cottonwood. While Cottonwood is not a foodie destination in any way, this place was a real treat. We stopped for a late lunch after wine tasting in Old Town, great selection, prompt service and great atmosphere.

Oh, thank heavens - I was so bereft that there was not a decent meal to be found when heading up to Jerome after discovering that the Red Rooster and Flat Iron Cafe had been sold to apparently the same completely inept and soulless twits who have no idea what real food is. Lo and behold, the Red Rooster has resurfaced in old downtown Cottonwood, so now we just have lunch there before heading up the hill! As always, the food is amazing, the service wonderful and the baked goodies are superb! As a mostly veggie person who must have organic, I just adore this place. The cinnamon rolls are to DIE FOR and the emphasis on fresh, real food is so appreciated. Recently took a friend and her two kids, ages 12 and 14, there and they ate every crumb! Staff is always so friendly and nice - even with the kiddos in tow. Needless to say, we will be back every time we head North up the hill...

Cafe style eating. You can read the rest of the reviews on how to order, what to order, etc. I go here often for lunch and get a tasty decent meal which I can eat on the patio. My kind of lunch spot. Kind of a limited menu, but fresh ingredients.

Dropped in here for lunch on a Sunday when passing through town. We had the quiche and hummus salad. The quiche was delicious and portion size was big enough for us to share. The hummus was a a disappointment, tasted cold like it had just come out of the fridge. Service was friendly and prompt and the prices were reasonable. Would probably return if in town again.

We ate here with a part of our group. We were doing a weekend "sip and stay" package through the Tavern Hotel, which provided breakfast vouchers for $5 off per person per meal at either The Red Rooster Cafe or La Crema. We chose the Red Rooster simply for the fact of more room to accomodate more of us comfortably. The menu is interesting and has a decent selection from which to choose. Hubby and I both wanted simple and went with the bacon, eggs, hash browns and toast, as well as fabulous coffee. The bacon is thick cut and prepared perfectly (for my taste anyway!!) well done. We like our eggs over medium, with the whites completely cooked and the yolk still runny. They could not have been better had I prepared them myself. The hash browns...ohmigosh!!! are a combination of white potatoes, sweet potatoes and onions, as well as some spices. Delicious. The whole wheat toast was thick cut, however there was only one slice, it was cold and the butter was on the side, along with some delicious strawberry jam. All in all, a lovely meal. I was a bit disconcerted by the presence and performance of a multi (and unusual)instrumental local performer on the patio, where we had chosen to sit, so as to enjoy the perfectly lovely weather. This performer had his very large dog with him, who was very well behaved, but still. The performer also periodically made a pitch for the sale of his cd's. The music was a bit "new-agey" for my taste and far too loud for a Sunday morning breakfast. But for the cold and skimpy toast, and the over loud performer, The Red Rooster likely would have garnered a fifth star from me.

Another great find in downtown Cottonwood. Breakfast was excellent. Quiche, sweet potato hash browns, and bacon were all especially good. Coffee was very good and my wife love that they had Mexican hot chocolate on the menu and knew how to make it! The staff was very friendly and atmosphere was great. Swing and big band music played and the decor was kind of "French Country". While we didn't partake as it was breakfast they had about eight local Arizona beers and not just Sedona. This place is a gem.

New Cottonwood location, in old town! Everything was fresh and tasty. We started w/a hummus plate to share. Good, the hummus didn't taste homemade to me, but I still enjoyed it. I ordered the 1/2 sandwich, BLT and a cup of broccoli cheddar soup. Soup was great, def. homemade. Sandwich also very good. We split a piece of the lime cake. Delicious!! I total appreciate that this is an actual homemade dessert. Very hard to come by around here!! Service was good. A little strange. You order @ the counter and pay, then they bring it out to you. Everyone was friendly and the food came fairly quick. This place has only been open a short time, so I was happy to see them doing a steady business.

LOVED the red rooster! I have eaten here twice. The staff both times were super friendly. You order your food at the counter and they bring it out to your table. The second time we went there we were in a hurry and the girl behind the counter gave us her lunch so we could get in and out of there faster. She had just ordered for herself what we were going to order anyway, so she said she'd just catch the next one. We tried the potato poblano soup, the chicken sandwich with tomato confit and goat cheese, and the turkey sriracha wrap. All were super tasty. I think this place is worth the trip even if you're coming from Sedona, Jerome, or any of the other small towns in the area.

I like to stop here on my way to visit an artist in Cottonwood. Sometimes I have even called in my order for a drive by pick up. Great service, good food, mellow atmosphere. I have been pleased with both the breakfast and lunch options. Tastes fresh!

Gives me hope for restaurants in Cottonwood. I have always dreaded eating out while visiting because of boring or bad food. Small menu is made up for by yummy food. I will be back! Also nice and polite staff, they could train the servers at the tavern a thing or two about being friendly.

The best breakfast I have ever had. Awesome food. Multi-instrumentalist outside playing relaxing, ambient music. Delicious coffee. Perfect for a Sunday morning.

in Cottonwood for a business trip and had 3 hours between meetings. We needed a place with lunch food and free wifi and found Red Rooster. It's got a great ambiance when you walk in. the menus are little newspapers; great neighborhood/small town vibe. the food is good and comes quickly. there's a large back room with numerous outlets and comfy chairs for those with laptops. Great coffee and friendly service too. Would definitely come back!

This is a fantastic restaurant, but unfortunately they deeply disappointed me by discontinuing their stuffed brownies-a warm brownie stuffed with Heath bar and topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. They tried to make up for it with their new cayenne brownie, that was very good even though its not my thing. It has a decadent, rich dark chocolate flavor that will satisfy your deepest chocolate cravings. Anyway, the atmosphere is warm and inviting with humorous cards and gifts. The real treasure however, is their thick sliced-and I mean THICK sliced- cherry smoked bacon cooked to perfection. It's the stuff I travel all the way from the Southern California coast for. Order anything on the menu that has bacon and you are sure to be blown away by your meal. Not to be forgotten, the farm fresh produce and the delicious salads. I ordered a BLT salad and it was loaded with not only tons of heavenly bacon, but also heaps of avocado and juicy, ripe, red tomatoes, plus it came with tantalizing homemade thousand island dressing. On my next visit, I was compelled to order the same thing only because it was so good. The ahi lettuce wraps are also commendable. Very fresh and flavorful; they prove that you don't have to be along the coastline to get good seafood. Their breakfast, although a small selection, is quite scrumptious. The freshly squeezed orange juice tastes like it was squeezed when I ordered it. The sugar free dark chocolate mocha was surprisingly superb, although I shouldn't have been surprised, it is the Red Rooster, after all. The orange cake, although not an intense orange flavor, it is moist, dense, and has layers of flavor topped with homemade buttercream frosting. Most places these days value quantity over quality, at The Red Rooster, you get both, first quality, but also quantity. They use top of the line ingredients to whip up their yummy culinary concoctions and they boast reasonable prices. Any visit to The Red Rooster guarantees fenominal food and service with heart and a smile.

Late to review. I ate here October 2011. I ordered the half chicken sandwich and a bag of chips. I really wanted to try the quiche but it being in the afternoon they were all out. From what I saw in the other reviews I will definitely have to try the quiche next time I visit the area. The decor is SO cute. It had a rustic, cafe/coffee house feel. The staff was very friendly and down to earth. They fit the mood of Cottonwood.

Bacon and OJ, my two favorite morning indulgences are done to perfection here. When I need a hearty home cooked breakfast The Rooster provides! Super friendly staff makes this a home away from home. Lunch? Soups so good, I want to smack my neighbor! I actually framed a splat of the pumpkin peach!

The four of us had lunch on a Saturday afternoon and we all enjoyed it for the most part. The Cuban sandwich was good but the real star was the mixed vegetable salad which was very fresh and tasty. The leak and potato soup was also very good. The BLT was good, just not great and the mini burger was very over done which is the main reason why rated this as 3 stars and not 4. However, I would go back to try other items including breakfast. The service was warm and friendly as was the place itself. Worth another visit!

Holy crap! I've never seen a smaller breakfast menu in my life! There seriously are like 5 items to choose from, and none of them are your "standard" breakfast fare.

The Espresso was prepared by a coffee artiste: incredibly bold, good crema and a slight hint of cherry. The equivelant of 2 paddles to the chest, only in a cup :-) The pumpkin peach soup was incredible. The southwestern chicken wrap was very good: hints of cilantro, lime, red onion and another ingredient that was tough to identify; akin to a pinch of tequila. This place is a sleeper: definitely worth a return visit...

If I lived in Cottonwood, it would be tough to resist coming here every day. They have THE BEST breakfast quiche on the planet, with green chiles in it. TO DIE FOR! Everything is made so freshly, with quality ingredients, and lots of love. They have a fabulous espresso machine so they can make drinks better than Starbucks. The atmosphere is perfect, quaint but not at all outdated. They also have an outdoor patio--perfect at this time of year! I cannot wait to return; I have dined here my past two visits to Cottonwood/Clarkdale and will definitely make a stop when I'm back in a month! Breakfast quiche, here I come!!

I use to love this place when it was in Jerome and I was very bummed when I saw that it was closed and changed into another high priced restaurant in Jerome. I was excited when I saw they are now opened in Old Town. I've eaten there two times in two days. I've eaten the Ahi Tuna lettuce wrap, chicken sandwich, hummas with pita bread and the BLT. The Ahi Tuna was grade A. I sampled yesterday when my mom ordered it and craved it so badly I had to stop before work and get it again. The chicken sandwich is stong onion flavored but I loved it. The bread was perfect compliment. The BLT was my least favorite. It was good but missing something. The Hummas was on the bland side and needed more olive oil. When I went in today they were having to close early because they had sold out of everything. I think it will be my new favorite restaurant.

Had a late lunch here on Saturday with my hubbie and we both agreed, this place is a winner. I had the SW Salad and in one word, awesome. Flavors blended together so well. Everything was fresh, clean and tasty. He had the Hummus salad and the Button Burger with the sun dried tomato cream cheese (instead of the mustard aioli). Hummus was very yummy and mild. Portion was large enough to share and was served with very fresh toasted but soft pita bread. He said the burger was just enough to satisfy and had a great flavor. We both had the balsalmic reduction dressing and it really kicked up our salads. A little goes a long way. We are both looking forward to going back again. We saw someone else ordering a dessert that looked amazing, so I guess we'll have to save room for that next time....

The staff is so friendly and I have always felt at home here. The button burgers with aoili are delicious as is the incredible steak burrito (sweet potatoes inside!). Have a local wine tasting and have lunch here.
