Had an early dinner here this weekend. The most noticeable thing to me was that the staff all seemed genuinely friendly. The food, overall, was pretty good, though a bit overpriced for what we got. My wedge salad had a huge chunk of iceberg lettuce (we were warned in advance by the server when ordering!) which would have been fine but instead of ice cold and crispy it was cool and spongy/wilting. I got a burger with sausage and a fried egg on top--pretty unusual. The server didn't ask how I wanted my burger and I forgot to say, so it arrived really well done and the sausage patty didn't have much flavor to add to it. The buttermilk pie was really good!
Perfect end to a day trip in Sedona. Rustic setting, great view, friendly service, reasonable prices. The burgers are made with Harris Ranch beef, juicy with a very fresh flavor. Try the Sedona or the Cowboy. Onion rings were outstanding as well.
We passed the restaurant Saturday evening on the way to the casino. The place was very busy. We decided to go check it out for dinner on Sunday. What a surprise. We had no idea that there were some great views. We ordered the Ribeye and it was just outstanding. I liked that they feature lots of local wines and foods. We will be back. I call Up The Creek Grill a real hidden gem. Check it out for yourself!

I am a rather frequent diner (12 years) at this restaurant. It is always a must stop when I have house guests. Their pasta primavera is out of this world. (Would like red bell peppers but without, it is still quite excellent for Northern Arizona). Going back to 1940/1950, if red bell pepper was ready to pick in the backyard, it would be in the pasta). Everything is fresh. They call this classical dish Patriza? The ambiance is wonderful and reminds me so much of the well known Bocci restaurant in Santa Cruz, Calif. This local treasure is family owned. Owner, Ramano, took over business from Papa who (retired to Sedona area) was an ACCLAIMED chef in L.A. In late 40s and 50s. Mom and dad in kitchen while son Giuliano serves table. This is a must stop for out of towners. It does take me back to good ol fashion restaurants in the Bay Area. You WILL hear a word or two from the kitchen.... Who wouldn't if Nonna was cooking and Pappa through in his four cents worth?this is visversa but same concept. Lastly, mostly all desserts are made in the premises! It is RARE dessert is offered....... You gotta mention it first with a ....."Do you have dessert? Understand, this restaurant does not have to upsell but hazelnut cheesecake is the best I have tasted. Today I asked and Giuliano said NO DESSERT.. UPDATE!!!! Major Update!!!!! Owner met me outside and said I am now banned from restaurant. Review remains the same. Excellent food with a little drama!
Great family owned restaurant. We went with friends from Sedona and enjoyed eating at something that's not a chain. I had the Eggplant Gouliano and a Cannoli for desert. My wife had Chicken Marsala and as picky as she is enjoyed it so I know you would. Not for the tourist based on the outside when you drive up but locals will know the reason to go.
Don't let the review by Russell M scare you away. This place is a hidden gem. If you like to eat at Nonna ' s house, then this is the place for you. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but once inside it's like you stepped inside someone's home. It's small and quaint. The aromas should make you hungry immediately. Service was more than adequate. Giuliano was our waiter. He was phenomenal. He made us feel like regulars even though we had never been there before. He made recommendations and fully answered all of our questions. We even got a chance to speak with the owners. It was like talking with family. All in all, from greeting to eating to paycheck, a great experience. We were disappointed we didn't get a chance to go back.

A classy white table cloth joint out in the middle of nowhere in Cornville....yes, yes, yes. Now I must confess the first time I tried to go to Manzanita....well it was winter and very dark and we just could not find it. So my suggestion is use your GPS or call for good directions if after dark. Since then we have visited a number of times and no issues on the location. Once inside the decor is very old school charming. The staff makes you feel comfortable and at home. They realize you had to take drive to get there and probably pass a number of other restaurants along the way. Now they have German and also what I would call American/Continental also. Since the wife and I like good German cuisine and it is not around every corner we generally go with that. I have had the lamb chops once and they were very good. We have had the baked brie and also bruschetta as starters and both were well sized and tasty. I normally order the beef roulade and the wife goes for the sauerbratten. We get a mixture of the authentic German sides such red cabbage, spaetzle and sauerkraut. The meals are ample and authentic tasting. We have had German food in many locales and this ranks among the very best. The wine list is quite extensive with domestics and imports. Manzinita offers a very good value, upscale atmosphere and an attentive staff. And all of this in Cornville.....off the beaten path, but well worth the adventure.
We made reservations for two on Valentines night. They had open time at 845 and I said that was to late and I didn't want them to run out of there special which was prime rib She said there was nothing to worry about. Well, we show up at 8:45 and wait until 9:30 to be seated only to find out they were out of prime rib so I order a filet instead. We waited for over an hour to get our food. It was the poorest filet I ever had I could go on and on but we wouldn't stop there for a glass of water. They ruined or Valentine night and I cannot forgive them for that
Food and service was excellent. A good choice for different varieties of dishes so everyone can enjoy. The German food was superb. Visited August 2015

Good food in local no-frills setting. I ordered the 12-oz sirloin with salad bar and baked potato side. Mom ordered the chicken burrito special. Both were large portions that we couldn't finish. The sirloin was cooked as expected and a good cut for $17. Mom's burrito was a deal at $10. Waitress was friendly and very attentive so drinks never emptied. Overall, we had a good dinner at a local restaurant that was enjoyable for just over $30. The only downgrade was the entrance takes you right through the bar. It wasn't too busy, but I can imagine if it was crowded would make the ambience suck. Also, kids were hanging out at the bar. So I guess the enforcement of local laws is lax.
The food was delicious and the service was great. I had the antipasto salad and it was one of the best I have had. I definitely plan to return some time soon. Thanks Grasshopper Grill!
I've been here a few more times now and my initial review holds up. Their food is consistently good as is their service. My wife thinks their nachos were bland but our son sure seemed to enjoy them. The Gunslinger burger with fresh jalapeños is dynamite but extremely hot and not for the faint of heart (burn).
