Rebecca, the server, greeted us & was very friendly & efficient. Friday night all you can eat fish fry! Alaskan Pollock, French fries, cole slaw, & spicy moist hush puppies, DELICIOUS! Hubby had the Bacon Cheese Burger & loved it! Daughter had kid's fish & chips, fish was cod. She liked it, but was still hungry & tried my Pollock & loved it! Daughter had chocolate shake for dessert which was large & delicious! I had a double chocolate cone, but another waitress who seemed new, served it to me. It looked like a single, so when we inquired if this was a double, she said YES. It wasn't, but we didn't argue. The restaurant & bathrooms were clean. There was an bar adjoining the restaurant. Also outside seating, but could smell cigarette smoke from outdoor bar seating, therefore chose not to sit outside. There were nice trees & a small teeter totter outside that our daughter enjoyed. Beautiful white flowering large tree as well. The prices were very reasonable & we will definitely be back.

This place was small but cozy. It was our first time here and it was super groovy. A juke box was playing 50s music and the have 8 inch records on the walls and even a malt shop. It was a 50s diner.... Great food great service even meet the owner We are defanetly coming back

We are staying at Acrosanti and this place is 2 miles away...so we decided to eat here for dinner. The other options were McDonalds, Subway and a Pizza place. If you are looking for home cooked meals, this is the place to be. This is a small restaurant and I must say that I am impressed. Given the fact that this place is in the middle of nowhere, the place is clean and they have delicious food as well. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and it was delicious. Our waiter was so nice and very professional as well. I highly recommend this place for RoadTrippers going to Flagstaff or Phoenix.

Good breakfast, nice staff, extremely clean, and the place where locals hangout. It took a little longer then expected to get our food but it was worth the wait. The food was made to order and not just sitting on the grill waiting to be served. If you traveling and want a decent meal that is not fast food stop here. Understand that this is a local joint who know their regular customers and you will enjoy the experience.

So grateful to find this hidden tummy pleaser. My daughter had the sweet potato fries and they were so delish. I had the BLT with potato salad and my hubby had the Club. All was delish. We will stop by again for sure. *Don't judge the location. It's good. Say hi to Jean too, she's wonderful!

We found the 50s Backseat Diner after checking Google Maps and seeing a traveler's nightmare come true: 1.5 hour delay on I-17. We decided to pull over at this diner and wait out the traffic (didn't work.). However, the 50s Backseat Diner was lovely, cheerfully lit and fun. There was good 50s music playing as we walked in, and the restaurant looked clean. Not only that, but the booths were pretty fun, and they weren't ripped and trashed like those at many diners you'll find. This diner is at a motel and RV Park, and when we pulled up, the entire space looked clean, well-maintained, and had a fresh coat of paint. Our waitress was cheerful, and our French fries and chicken finger plate came out pretty quickly. The sweet potato fries were very good, and the rest of my family had no complaint. In case you're spending time in this restaurant or motel, there is also a horse shoe game or a pool table available; just ask for the pool cues or horseshoes at the bar. There is a nice patio outside that you can use if it's not too hot. Most people were outside on the patio when we were there. We had a pleasant meal at the 50s Backseat Diner, and I'd return again. Good service, and good diner prices. Oh yes! While we were there, someone paid for our meal for us, an angel, in hopes that we would pay it forward to the next person. We appreciated the kindness, and we'll be paying it forward!

So when you see my picture, you're probably thinking what I was when the idea was pitched, "Fish in the middle of the desert? And at a 50's Diner?" I'm driving to the Grand Canyon a few days before a work trip and I'm ready for lunch on top of I need to do some scouting in the guide book I bought. Subway and other nasty fast food places keep popping up. I pray, "oh Lord let's find something unique" and then I remembered Yelp. The 50's Diner could be easily missed but you would miss out. It's perfect for people in route from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon. All of the locals have a lunch habit it appears. They serve breakfast till 3pm and have all the sundaes and shakes your 50's heart can fancy. The server came by and asked if I wanted their Alaskan Pollock. I'm thinking, "I really don't do fish much unless I know it's fresh and last I looked at a map, Alaska is long darn ways off." I tried it and oh wow, I'm glad I did. Light breading they do on their own, no fishy taste, homemade coleslaw and tarter sauce The server sold me on it and I enjoyed my experience so much I ended up with a piece of apple pie to top it off. All of this despite my plans to run over 20 miles tomorrow into the Canyon and back out. I would come back if this Tennessean ventures here again.

We chanced upon this place while driving the freeway to Sedona. It's one of the warmest welcomes I've had in America. The food was traditional, well priced and extremely filling. I'd stop here again in a heartbeat - I suggest you do the same. The buttermilk pancakes were epic. The Cadillac Omelette was one of the largest meals I have ever set sight on.

Saw this on Yelp as we were going to Prescott for the day, thought we give it a try. Not a place you would notice while driving, but well worth the effort to get to! Cute 50's dinner that is not the polished chain version, but the mom & pop from yesteryear. What a great find! We had their charbroiled burger, yummy! Definitely a must stop while traveling I-17

Knowing my tendency towards carniverosity, (is that a word???) my husband stopped by here and brought back the Betty Boop burger. Please allow me to describe..... Toasted and buttered bun, homemade cole slaw, cheese, a fat Angus beef patty and the reason I'm feeling hungry right now: homemade pastrami. Since we live in Prescott, the sandwich had to travel for a bit and had to be reheated, and it was still sublime! I had the sweet potato fries with it, and those were wonderful too. If I hadn't inhaled it so fast, I'd have photographed it for you to see for yourself, but trust me on this and get thyself to the source and try the Betty!

Great homemade meat loaf, real BAKED potato, and a fantastic chocolate malt. Also attentive service. Highly recommended for those craving home cooking between Flagstaff and Phoenix!

Service fast and friendly! The natural cut Fries were a little overdone but still good. My patty melt meat was cooked just right and juicy. The bread was a little burnt but still good. Overall it was pretty decent food.

Horrible service everytime we go. Drink never get refilled. Order is always wrong. I never understood how some waitresses don't write anything down.. and still get the order wrong... hmmm. Clean place. Decent bathroom. Won't be going back for dinner but the ice cream is yummy for the kids. She got that wrong too. :(

Great service and great food. Like some of the other reviews said, not something you would immediately notice. Definitely worth trekking slightly off the beaten path to get to.

Found this when got hungry and saw the sign. Hard time finding it due to road construction but was well worth the effort. It's behind the shell station. Nice little diner out of the 50's but immaculately clean and bright. Friendly staff & owner. Nicenew bar attached would be worth stopping again in future. Give it a try if you're going up or down I-17.

Really solid. Was craving an Oreo malt on my way to Phoenix and decided to give this place a shot. Also ended up getting some really good French fries. Good food and local flair = I was not disappointed.

Quaint "Alice style" diner. A little tricky to find (gravel road behind the has station). Staff was friendly, looks like a locals place, and best of all NOT a chain. I ate breakfast and seen self popping in here again on the way home! The Cadillac omelet was cooked properly ( not scorched like many do with too hot a grill and it was fluffy ) and the home fries were crispy rather than many places that serve them greasy. The cook knows his stuff! Fountain Pepsi products, ice cream, I'm waiting for Flo to pop out and say "kiss my grits" ( except they don't have any ). Attached to a motel or RV park.

We stopped here for breakfast on a hot summer day. There were no cars in the parking lot and we were a bit afraid we might have made a mistake. The place was well lite and cheery inside. The food was great (I had biscuits and gravy) and typical diner food. I loved it. By the time we finished breakfast and left, the parking lot was full and so was the restaurat!

Great food, friendly service! My 2 teenagers and I met my parents there because it is the closest to halfway point with a restaurant between CV and Phoenix. I had seen the sign when driving through Cordes Junction and thought it would be good and I wasn't disappointed! The French dip was tender and had a generous amount of meat, the fries were awesome but the onion rings were to die for!! The service was friendly and the decor was bright and interesting. I plan on driving the 25 miles from CV to eat there again!

Went camping this past weekend and hit this place on my way to our destination. We got seated fast and our waitress was nice. I'm giving this place three stars simply because the food and prices were excellent. If I was going to rate this place on service and atmosphere it would only get two stars from me. Like I said, our waitress was nice but after she dumped our food at our table we never heard from her again! It wasn't until I was literally waving my ticket above my head did she stop long enough to take my money...gee thanks. My thoughts on atmosphere, well, I get that it's a small diner in the middle of nowhere and so I really didn't expect much. This place thought it had an echo in it and so the din of the restaurant felt like a roar. If you can consume all your food on one glass of water and don't care to have conversation with the people your with than come on down!

A fun roadside place with local flavor when driving to Sedona. Good choice if you want to avoid national chain.

My favorite stop between Flagstaff and Phoenix. Great ham and eggs. Wonderful folks. Reminds me of the Arizona I used to know back in the good ol' days.

When we first moved to Cordes Lakes about 7 years ago, we tried this little restaurant and decided to never go back. But, the place is now under new management, so we decided to give it a shot one night when we didn't want to cook at home and really didn't want another McDonald's or Subway dinner. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food we got on our takeout order that night. So, we decided to go right back a couple of days later for breakfast. Again, the food was excellent and the service was fantastic. Even though they were busy, both waitresses helped us out and checked on us several times. I would probably give five stars if it were not for our very next experience when we brought back some family from out of town for breakfast. Two of them and I ordered the special for that day and it wasn't nearly as good a breakfast as I have had down there before. From now on, I'll stick with regular menu items and ignore the specials. Their regular items - both breakfast and lunch/dinner - are fantastic.

So. Here's the deal. Should you be enroute to Sedona and need to stop for an emergency bathroom break and hook up to the internet...consider hitching up to this fine little flashback to the 1950's which offers both wi-fi and nice service. It'll be hard to find a plug if you're low on power, but while you enjoy a fry up or an ice cream sundae at their soda fountain, you could ask for the one available plug up and the host will oblige. This place is the standard greasy spoon. Nothing more and certainly nothing less. What I liked most about this place was that when I asked for burned eggs and got what appeared to be runnier than not eggs...the cook came out and told me to poke it before I joke it! LOVE HER! And it was not at all runny. Masterful. The place is a clean alternative to the McDonalds closely situated and highly populated on this route. And if you happen to be travelling in an RV, you can sort-yourself out with all the necessary conveniences. Something to note is that if you pay with cash...because I know some of you Yelpers do...a hand written receipt is all you can get. Quite a mix of old school travel and newer conveniences.

This is the place to go for the biggest burger ever!! Also the onion rings and chili are the BOMB!! The onion rings are firm and when you bite in, you don't get a slimy greasy onion, you get flavor!! And the soda fountain, the best chocolate malts in a long time, plus you can add flavors like cherry, etc.

We had the BEST breakfast at the 50's Backseat Diner. The place is so friendly and the food was delicious. You have to try the warm biscuits and the homemade home fries. Joyce took good care of us. The chef even came out to welcome us.

This is a clean alternative to all the fast food you usually eat off the I-17. I had a chicken sandwich, with green chili on top. It was great. I would have preferred the chicken to be beaten thinner or cut thinner but it was good. Good portion of fries and good cold drinks.

Great little find on I 17 near Prescott! They have friendly service, the usual diner fare and really friendly surroundings. Omlets are very filling and tasty. The only thing I'd change is adding some gluten free options! We didn't check out the bar.

This hidden gem is tucked behind the gas station off I17. Its very clean, staff was friendly, great diner food and lots of character. We loved Superman's changing booth out front. Great spot to bring kids. This will be a regular stop for us on drives up to Flagstaff.
