My husband and I come to this location regularly and I have NEVER had unfriendly service or a bad drink. The entire staff is so polite!! My husband went in this morning to get our coffee and he dropped mine on his way back to the car. He went in to buy another and the woman who made it the first time asked him if he forgot something. He said no and told her he needed another coffee due to dropping the first and she made him a new one free of charge! I cannot say enough good things about this location!
Best location!! Love the staff they are the best! Service is #1... The line moves quickly and drinks are made quickly... I wish they would make this location a drive through as well - Cave Creek needs one!!
I have to say that this location and the one inside the grocery store has some of the best Starbucks staff members. They know my name and my favorite customized drinks. Thanks for the smiles and great drinks!!

Let me say that "Z" the owner knows how to run a business! She is kind, courteous, explains the menu in detail and is an awesome host! Oh, and the food rocks! Started with the chicken satay with home made peanut butter sauce, yum! To the hot and spicy tom yum soup ( a meal all by itself!) for entrees we tried the massaman beef which was amazingly full of hints of coconut cream, curry and pepper spices, stewed all day and veryyyy tender! Next I sampled the chicken curry which I would have ate next if I had any room! Delicious, fresh, tender! Next time im back from NY I am definitely going to stop at "Z's" and try her amazing home cooked thai! Thank you Z ! You were awesome!
I live in Cave Creek, and I don't know where these 4 and 5 star reviews have eaten, but definitely not at Z's Asian Fusion in Cave Creek! I agree the owner, Z, is very knowledgeable, but when you see two tables occupied in a restaurant on Friday night and a menu 4 legal pages long...that says GO FOR THE DOOR! That's fine if you are Denny's or a franchise, but this place presents itself as a locally owned fresh food establishment....everything we ordered tasted processed or frozen! My husband and I ordered the calamari and the crab puffs...the calamari was tough and tasted processed and the crab puffs had no crab...just sour cream and were soggy! Our entrees were served as soup with the protein not even remotely tasting like chicken and pork, and vegetables that I could not identify all mixed into a lack luster broth with cold rice on the side! NEVER AGAIN!!! sandi e.
Wow is not enough. This is a hidden gem in the town of cave creek, hidden in a small shopping plaza and I recommend you make it a point to get here. Authentic Thai, China and Indian cuisine cooked to perfection. We ordered the Moo Bing, Shrimp Wraps, cucumber salad, beef noodle soup, spicy chicken soup and the Tilapia-heaven. Frankly, I am sad that I live down the road and have passed on this place...I have truly missed out and plan on playing catch up :-)

Amazing iced coffee and incredible scones. We tried the apple cinnamon scone and raspberry white chocolate scone and both were incredibly delicious. I enjoyed my iced coffee, and wish I could find scones as good as these in Portland, they truly are remarkably delicious. We were quickly greeted with a friendly face, and were efficiently served. We quickly popped in while on our way to another destination, so we got our treats and coffee to go, and if I'm ever in Phoenix again I will definitely head out here for some iced coffee and a scone.
Great local hangout with a wonderful staff. Coffee is full of flavor and they have a small decent craft beer list. They do a nice job of promoting local vendors.
Great spot! We ate here twice while we were visiting. Once for breakfast and once for lunch. Both my 8 year old son and I were very happy with our meals. I had a breakfast burrito the first time around and the turkey sammie for lunch (AWESOME, btw!). My son turned 8 (on 3/28 - I mention the date because I'm not sure the name of the two people who were working at the time!) and we stopped in here for lunch. While I was in the bathroom my son told the man and woman working at the counter that it was his birthday. After our meal they brought him out two scoops of ice cream atop two cookies with lit candles (see photo)! We were both surprised and my son was so happy! What a thoughtful and kind thing to do for him! This is the kind of thing that sets restaurants apart from others...you can find good food and poor service almost anywhere, but this place has a staff that cares. We will most certainly be back during our next visit! Thank you both again for adding to my son's special day!

Love that there's a new dining option in the area and hope they are here to stay. I might have given them 4 stars if it weren't for the fact that they need to work out some service kinks. We went there to celebrate my husband's bday. When I made the reservations I stated this in the comments along with the fact that we would have a 1.5yr old with us and would need a high chair. However, we were seated in a raised booth and their was no high chair ... just a booster seat. We had to hold on to the babies legs to make sure she didn't slip off. No one mentioned the birthday, so I made sure to mention it to the waiter. The food is good. We had the chipotle clams, charred romaine and lemon garlic prawns to start. Everyone thought they were quite tasty. The rack of lamb was cooked perfectly. The lobster risotto was good, but very rich. Another guest had the the seafood pasta and she seemed to enjoy it. Two of us had the lobster ravioli. It is not a traditional ravioli. It is more like a sheet of pappardelle pasta wrap around a "slab" of ricotta. Because there was so little pasta, I would say it was closer to gnudi than a ravioli. The description says it was accompanied by a spicy cream sauce, but we didn't taste anything spicy at all. It was good, but a disappointment because we were expecting the taste of more pasta. Desserts were a chocolate cake, carrot cake and the apple puff pastry. The carrot cake was the best. The apple puff pastry was our least favorite. The pastry was good, but the apples were sliced too thinly rendering them almost dry and their wasn't enough sauce to offset that. We also didn't care for the cheese that it was garnished with. Back to the service. They really need to get there act together. You could tell our waiter was pretty "green". He was very polite and he was trying really hard, but he would continually forget things. He asked if we needed more bread and then forgot to bring it. Someone asked for a cocktail and he forgot that too. Food came up rather slowly too. It was a Monday and the restaurant was maybe half full, so we couldn't figure out what the problem was. We sat at a table facing the open kitchen and we think some orders were getting mixed up and servers were picking up orders that were supposed to go to other tables. Lastly, as I said it was my husband's birthday. There was no complimentary dessert! We even sang "Happy Birthday", so it was like they didn't know. Anyone hope they work out the service issues. We would love to see them succeed.
Killer happy hour! Great food and staff. Happy to have another option in Cave Creek.
Hubby and I went in for Happy Hour. Great options. Mussels.........very good Steak Skewers.......delicious and tender Fired Green beans........yummy Flatbread.............delicious Our cocktails ...........fantastic The Bartenders were wonderful! I am beginning to think this is my favorite close to home spot!

Stopped for a coffee and their was a $10 cover per person at a coffee house! There was a band playing outside. Sounded ok i guess. Just didn't feel like spending $20 just to walk thru the door.
(written by susan) We went there for the blueberry waffles (friends said they were great!) - we were not disappointed....this is now on our list of places to go when we visit Cave Creek. Hubby also likes to come in early in the morning for coffee with friends - it is a great gathering place. Friendly staff and good service. I would recommend.
This is my absolute favorite coffee shop. They also have a bar and great music in the evenings and on weekends. The patio is nice, but it's cozy inside too during a rare AZ thunderstorm.

I discovered a hidden gem and I almost (focus on the word almost) don't want to share my find! But, I will with my Yelp friends. During a morning of discovering new businesses, I decided to drive up to Cave Creek and work from a coffee shop in the area. I turned to my trustee Yelp app and noticed the Grotto's listing. Just then, I saw the sign and it looked like it was right up my alley so I decided to check it out! This little coffee shops is filled with unique character. It's nestled off Cave Creek Road and trees hide it from plain site, but locals know just where to go! Inside, the walls are lined with different pictures and antiques and various tables and chairs fill the rooms. There's plenty of seating. My favorite area was the patio that felt like a little secret garden with several patio tables and chairs. When I first walked in, I looked around and could tell that this is a local hot spot and it was obvious that I was not a regular patron. The staff is friendly and seemed to know all the regular's orders. I decided to order the egg sandwich on a bagel along with an iced mocha. I then headed outside to the patio and set up my computer for a morning of work. Did I mention I love the patio? It's filled with character from both the atmosphere and the regulars who hang out there. In the midst of working, I look over and a huge great dane is staring at me face to face! Yes, this patio is also dog-friendly! While I enjoyed my delicious egg bagel sandwich and iced coffee, I worked using the free wi fi that the shop offers. It was a delightful morning and I will definitely be back to work from this adorable coffee shop in Cave Creek again in the future!
I enjoy eating at Grotto Cafe several times a week. I like the Iced Coffee. Their salads are very tasty and always look so good. i have tried the Monterey, the Southwestern and their new Eggless Cesar Salad which is my new favorite. The Grotto Cafe has great employees who work very hard to make their customers happy. .
Cool, hip atmosphere with a chill vibe. Great coffee, creative menu. Great place to hang out and use their Wifi or meet up with friends. Big outdoor space that allows dogs (woof!) and wonderful interior with more great places and separate little rooms for more privacy. I'll definitely come here again.

We stayed here for the week before we could move into our new house. Quiet, cozy, super clean and pet friendly...with fun western decor and great breakfasts. We appreciated Carolyn's advice on restaurants, pet care and so many things new to the area needs we had. This will be our overflow go to place for our visitors.
We occasionally travel to Arizona for family events. Have visited Flagstaff which was very pretty but usually spent time in Phoenix and found it to be less than beautiful. While we enjoyed seeing family, the area had very little that appealed to us. This trip however, we saw a whole new side to Arizona in Cave Creek while in town for a wedding. The town and surrounding areas offered some lovely views and a completely different feel than the big city of Phoenix. The Spur Cross is not the typical Victorian B&B (thank goodness) but fits in perfectly with it's surroundings and is the perfect place to stay in this charming town. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. Carolyn is a wonderful hostess and made us feel so welcome. What a great little town, we love this B&B and would recommend it highly. Because of our wonderful experience here, we have decided that we'd love to visit this part of Arizona again even without a specific event drawing us here, we were sad to leave! Thanks Carolyn!
We just spent two nights at Spur Cross and found it clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The location is convenient and the views of the desert are amazing. We would stay there again if in need of accommodations in that area.

Fabulous gooey, cheesy, melted goodness. Barro's pizza is the best I've had in town. The marinara sauce is so flavorful. I usually order a cheese pizza, boneless wings (hot sauce is perfect) and mozzarella sticks. They never disappoint! Even their ranch and blue cheese dipping sauces are unexpectedly good. I've ordered half a dozen times from this location and even on a busy Saturday I never wait more than 30mins for delivery even though I'm quoted a little longer. Everything always arrives hot and fresh. This place is my pizza craving fix.
We have ordered carry out from here a few times and have had a good experience each time. They are friendly, professional and courteous. Prices are reasonable and they have a nice selection of food to choose from. Food is pretty tasty as well! We will continue to utilize Barro's for our pizza needs!
We have lived up here for years, and have eaten and had takeout/delivery. I really enjoy their food, but the happy staff that work there are the best. Today, great smile, willing to change order without whining, and good attitude. Thats what I call customer service!

Red Horse Saloon

Reviews:
I ended up at the Red Horse Saloon for the Superbowl, and I'm glad I did, it's a cool little bar. RHS is part of Carefree Resort & Villas, which I saw none of and that's why I made this a separate review. We came for the big screen tvs, and we stayed because of the food and friendly bar staff. When we arrived at 415PM there was no one there, but unfortunately all the leather sofas and chairs had been reserved for groups already. We grabbed seats and pondered the menu, which is a newspaper. They handed this paper to us and we were all, oh no, we want to watch the game...yeah, we are brain trusts. Anyway, the menu is on the inside and I have to say, not particularly vegetarian-friendly. BUT Frank, our bartender and part time server, was happy to take meat out of any of the salads and quesadilla. Between the two of us we shared the (normally chicken) quesadilla, sweet potato fries and a side salad. The quesadilla was very cheesy, and stuffed with green chiles and other vegetables and came with salsa, sour cream and guacamole on the side. YUM. The order of sweet potato fries was huge, they were thin cut and not at all greasy. YUM. The salad was also enormous, for a side, and was topped with roasted red peppers, black beans, corn and tomatoes. The vinagrette dressing was really flavorful. So we ate and watched the game, and as the night wore on the tables and reserved seats filled and everyone was very friendly and we noticed that extra help had been called in, presumably from the resort to help serve and bartend and bus tables. Oddly though it was the same 2 bartenders and 1 busboy still doing all the work. the two women staffers who showed up just walked around looking at people and standing against the back wall. which was pretty unhelpful. Service slowed down quite a bit, so when I ordered margaritas I had to go get them myself and when my cousin suggested dessert she had to go ask for it at the bar as well. We were intrigued by the S'more of the Day (are you freaking kidding me?!!!) and each day does have a bit of a twist to it, but unfortunately it requires going outside to the firepit and roasting the marshmallows yourself. Don't get me wrong, that is totally awesome and I will be back there in a heartbeat to stuff myself with smores, but not during the superbowl. And when we couldn't find anything else we really craved on the menu, we were brought a complementary dessert: a frying pan full of sugared nachos drizzles with caramel sauce, marshmallows and three scoops of sorbet. It was the weirdest thing I've ever seen but it tasted good...and it was free. Frank makes a mean margarita so make sure you drink plenty of water before you drive! Or just sit outside with a bag of marshmallows, setting them aflame until you're sober.

Chef Sara’s Raw Vegan Academy Cafe

6602 E Cave Creek Rd
Cave Creek, 85331
Reviews:
As a vegan raw foodist, I was very happy to discover this place in Arizona. We live in California (where there are many raw restaurants) and it is great to be able to eat at a raw restaurant when we visit family in Phoenix. The selection is great and was also very much enjoyed by the two non-raw foodists/non-vegans in my party. I was surprised at how large the portions are. So many raw restaurants tend to serve skimpy portions. The other two people in my party could not entirely finish their meals and requested boxes to take them home. It is a comfort to know that all the food served in the restaurant is organic, non-GMO, gluten-free and fresh. Chef Sara was very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. I have certain food allergies and she was very willing to make a special dish for me. If you have special dietary needs, she advises that you call her two days in advance so she can plan to have the food items available to accommodate your needs. I really had the feeling that she cares about her customers and goes out of her way to give them a great experience and delicious, healthful food. The place is peaceful, clean, and nicely decorated. We all had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back!
If you are looking for only raw vegan food, this is your place. Nothing is cooked, everyhthing is 100% raw. They offer a variety of creative options from appetizers, wraps, soups, pizza and pasta. They have freshly squeezed juices, smoothies and a variety of different health shots. The dessert is yummy as well. This is a must try!
I had a fabulous experience today! Chef Sara was very friendly and super helpful with the menu. She did let us know she was out of some ingredients though and so the menu was rather limited. This disappointed me at first, so I ordered something that would have been probably my 3rd choice. I got the "Rawgasmic" sandwich and let me tell you I was not disappointed in the least! The bread was a amazing and the spreads were so flavorful. The sandwich was topped with so many colorful, fresh organic veggies too. I was completely full and satisfied after eating this. My friend ordered the marinara zuchinni noodle bowl and I swear she inhaled it before I could ask for a taste. I also loved the decor and even took some photos around the place to copy in my own decor. Yes, it is pricier than your average lunch joint, but I'd rather pay extra here than at some second rate chain. Here I know all the ingredients have a purpose and are all fresh, organic and carefully chosen. The menu is so creative and the plate ends up looking like a work of art. So yeah, I'll pay a couple extra dollars for that. I wish I had room for dessert because the dessert tray looked incredible.
