Food is made fresh for each order. I loved their hot pastrami so much I had it both times I visited. Don't get the chips tho as the bag only has about 6 chips in it. Get the cole slaw! Some of the best ever. Fresh crispy not sweet and just the right amount of dressing, not swimming in it. Counter service. Tables in and out.

Have only been here once. Just ordered a salad and soda -- my husband had a sandwich. Didn't love it -- but didn't hate it. The staff was polite though.

Stopped in here for some breakfast and was very pleasantly surprised. The only choice is a build your own breakfast sandwich but it is actually really good! I was also surprised that they had an espresso machine instead of just a drip coffee. I was even MORE surprised that my cappuccino was really good. The guy who was making everyone's food and drinks was really friendly. This place is a gem! The other cool thing is that all the artwork on the wall is for sale. And its really good art too! Come in here and check it out when your passing through town. You wont be disappointed.

Sitting in the quiet shade at the Oasis Cafe allows you to ponder. The first question I have is why does another mining town, Bisbee, at the other end of the state, get all the attention from the tourists and artsy-types? If you've ever been there, smug folks just sit around looking like they're waiting for something important to happen. Well, there's none of that nonsense in Ajo, a town that has seen better days and has been left with colossally striking amphitheatre-sized mining pits. A town that has a worn charm that could easily attract artists if it wanted to. Ajo's three-sided zócalo (plaza) was erected in 1917 and it imparts the feel of any picturesque Mexican town. Two white-washed churches flank the fourth side across the street and tall palm trees in the center of the zócalo are home to singing birds that provide accompaniment to Oasis' beverages. The Cafe's menu is simple: coffees, cappuccinos, lattes, espressos, macchiatos, teas, soups, sandwiches, bagels, and simple desserts. Jazz CDs play in the background. The atmosphere encourages more thoughts. Should I give up my stress-filled life in the big city and start over again to be a pioneer in Ajo? Stare into some of the empty windows on the zócalo and you might feel like opening a bookstore or bakery or bistro or barbershop. I'd settle for a music store specializing in ranchera music. Towns like Ajo inspire such whimsical considerations. In the meantime, one more latte, please, at the Oasis Cafe.

As a fellow foodie for the love of god do not go there... The first time I went to oasis I was disappointed ... I ordered the burger. Colossal mistake they have no grill, in fact the only heating appliance they have is a microwave, my burger was inedible at best. So my hub and I gave it another shot. He ordered the soup and sandwich, his turkey sandwich was ok, and the soup we saw them pour from a store bought can. I on the other hand ordered the turkey sandwich on sour dough and the bread was so hard. It hurt my teeth, the turkey was beyond its prime and my pickle had fuzz on it as did my hub... It tasted like my soda had been placed in the sun and been burned for awhile. I asked the cashier how do you cook your burgers... "oh we nuke em, we get the precooked ones, I then asked what is not nuked??? Our cold sandwiches and soups.

Stopped by here and ordered a little shaved ice treat while waiting for the second sunday art sale (cool small showplace for local artists in the plaza) to open up last weekend. We tried coming here on friday night, but they were closed at 6:30 when we stopped by. Moral of ths story, come early folks. The cafe is in a beautiful southwestern style plaza in the heart of Ajo. Too bad this town has passed it's prime, because the plaza area looks like a cool gathering place. When we there, the whole area was pretty quiet. As for the cafe, my father loves their sandwiches and pink lemonade. They also have all types on bagels, muffins, coffee drinks, teas, and ice cream for very reasonable prices. Stop by when you're in town. The guys working there are as friendly as you can get and the place is nice for a respite from the busy, busy world we live in these days...

If you happen to be visiting from out of town make sure you check out the HUGE movie theater in the back of this place. I've never seen anything like it!! The staff was great and my Tiger's Blood flavored Shaved Ice was awesome.
