We were trying to eat at Gadwall's today but they looked super packed and my husband said let's check out Jo Jo's. I said "Who's?". So we went over (right across the street) and it looked less busy and I was starving so we decided to eat there. All I can say is, Jo Jo's blew Gadwall's out of the water..Jo Jo's was so great! Now, I should inform you that I judge a restaurant based on how good their Chicken Fried Steak is and theirs was really good. The best CFS I have had since moving here a year ago. My husband's bbq was great too. The sides were delish: okra and sweet potato fries were awesome. Everything was fresh and made from scratch, we were informed, and it definitely tasted like it. Before we left, I had decided they deserved an awesome review on yelp and that I was going to have them cater my baby girl's first birthday party. We will be eating here again very soon.

When I grew up in Levy, the defunct location there was at a busy intersection. The city cleaned up the route, creating a new artery for the area, pretty much cutting Jo-Jo's out of the loop. They went from very busy, to moderate, to completely dead in the years to follow. I had never eaten there, though it was probably the first "landmark" I ever recognized, ever, anywhere. When I drove by the old location a few weeks ago, I found with some sorrow that the building had been repurposed as a thrift store. That same week, looking at some Yelp users in my area, I found that one had eaten at the new(er) location recently and had given it high marks. I decided that we HAD to give them a shot! I tried the chicken fried steak, and it was excellent. The okra tasted like home made, the beans were nice and smoky. My wife had the baked potato, my mother-in-law had a jumbo pork sandwich, my daughter had a corn dog, and my son had the grilled cheese. Nobody complained one iota! The prices are completely reasonable considering the quality and quantity. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. We will DEFINATELY return.

On a whim I wanted to check this spot out. I drive past it everyday & figured I'd give the local community a boost. I had the smoked chicken w/slaw & beans + Texas toast. It was a delicious, filling meal. I also had a fried pie (sweet potato). It was also pretty good. I will have to go back and try some true BBQ though.

Well I found this place and to my horror, there was a Razorback on every table so I automatically have to take a star away (just kidding). When I sat, I was greeted right away and the lady was very helpful and sweet. I was looking over the menu and I look for a 2 or 3 meat plate. I told her that it was my first time here and I couldn't find the 2 or 3 meat plate. She pointed out the sampler on the markerboard which came with 3 ribs, chopped brisket and pork and 2 sides. First off, my sweet tea was very fresh and had a nice strong tea flavor to it. My sampler was $10.95 and compared to other BBQ places, I'm thinking I'm not going to get much at all. I was wrong...I had very hefty portions. Ribs were pretty good...I felt like they needed a little more seasoning and to be a little more moist but not bad. My brisket and pork was disappointing though. It was pretty bland even with the BBQ sauce and just needed something more to it. Jo jo's has one BBQ sauce with a variation of mild, medium, and hot. I liked the hot the best but it was more spicy than hot. The sauce was also very tomato-ey and runny. It almost tasted like it would have been better for spaghetti than BBQ. My sides were both homemade. Onion rings had a spicy batter to them and were pretty good. Potato salad was a mustard base with dill relish in it. It was pretty good too...but not unbelievable. I feel like I should rank Jo jo's higher than I should because the ladies were very sweet and helpful...asked me how it was, took real good care of me, and I even joked with them about the Razorback on the table. But the BBQ was just mediocre. The good news is that it is a place that serves a lot of country cooked meals that I might have to go back and try. They were very generous with their portions, very affordable, and customer service made you feel like you were down at home. But I won't go back for the BBQ.

Not just a BBQ place. Fried pork chops, country fried steak, onion rings, and burgers are great. Beans are the best I've had and their rolls and buns are made fresh. Yet to even try all the menu items yet, but there is definitely something here for everyone.

Not a fan of the BBQ or the sauce but the home cooking & southern staples are the best in the area

We love the homemade buns for the bbq sandwiches and the spuds with spicy bbq sauce! They have a friendly service and it's a good place to come with the kids.

Sauce is great. Large portions. Love the beans. Best BBQ spud in North Little Rock. Eat here at least every other week. Love it!!!!

Love the BBQ sauce here. Huge sandwich size options. Unique BBQ beans and we love them! Good fries too.

Decent pulled pork but the sauces are subpar. If you're feeling BBQ and your the Sherwood/North Little Rock area, the Whole Hog Cafe is better.
