We stayed two nights the first week in October. The leaves had not started to change yet, but I can imagine what the view would be like from the private room balcony or restaurant when they do. The owners are very nice people who were most accommodating. The room was older, but clean and had Direct TV. Because we were in the room farthest from the office (rm 6) the Wi-Fi didn't work. If you went to the lower patio it would. The bathroom was small with limited water pressure. If you are staying here for the room, you are staying for the wrong reason. The view from the private balcony is beautiful at sun up and in the late afternoon. Our room had two double beds that were very comfortable. I am just not sure that it was worth $80 before the leaf season. The fact that breakfast off the menu for two definitely made it a better deal. The office and restaurant closed at 3 throughout the week and the closest place to get dinner is 8 miles away, so plan ahead. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing experience. I would recommend Cliff House if you want a clean and comfortable place to stay with an amazing view. If you are looking for luxury, look elsewhere.

Review was written on 7/30/11. We had returned from our 10 day motorcycle trip in the west and decided to ride out to the Cliff House for lunch. It was an excellent day of riding. Excellent food, fantastic ride, awesome view! We have returned twice more on the bikes since this initial visit. Never disappointed. Always excellent and the view simply fantastic.

Great view....ok food. Hummingbirds flying around outside were sweet...green beans were the best thing there. My group had chicken fried steak, the fried pickles, hamburger steak, company pie and blackberry cobbler. Nothing to rave about except for the view....

We stopped here by chance on our way to Jasper. 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon and there was no waiting. First and foremost the view was overlooking the valley below and was simply beautiful. The weather was windy and threatening rain and we sat at our table by the window and watched the mist and clouds move across the valley. Awesome! Betty ordered the fried catfish. We checked first to see if it was local or imported. Local of course and was delicious. She's hard to please when it comes to fried catfish. I had the lunch special; boneless broiled chicken breast with a Ritz Cracker crust. It came with dressing and cranberry sauce. Very nice. We shared a slice of Apple Pie with a scoop of ice cream on top, of course. We fork wrestled over the last bite. Just as we were finishing up, a group dressed in LSU Purple & Gold sat down at the table next to us. We saluted each other with Geaux Tigers. What a perfect finish to a wonderful lunch. We will be back.

Marginal service and food! I would recommend Ozark Cafe anytime. Don't order a special and try to substitute. Order a medium rare steak and got a medium well.

Coffee was cold and tastes like it was made a day ago at 10:30 am. Iced tea was instant and so cloudy you could hardly see the ice. Hamburger steak was overlooked, dry and bland. Salad was a bowl of lettuce with a few bites of tomatoes for $2.00. Mashed potatoes were covered in white gravy without asking. The biscuit was good. Stayed in the cabin. For the price we should have been able to open the windows without the place filling up with mosquitoes.

View....one of a kind. Food .....priced based on the View but Old Gal Got Game. Front Counter Grand Poobah and Quivering Mound of Gen II.....not so much. When you COMMAND anyone to come around to the front of your Cashier Counter and they acquiesce.....let it go at that. When it is yours truly ....and I try to alleviate the insult by making reference to Imagined Orders from the Fire Marshall.....let it go. You cost the L'il B a Buck on her Tip......enjoy your Winter.

The Cliff House is such a great find! We recently visited for lunch on a Sunday with a group of 12. Obviously, it is in the middle of no-where and it is one of the only sit down restaurants in the area. It is certainly worth the drive out of town simply for the view! It is breathtaking. The restaurant is perched on the top of a large canyon. The entire restaurant facing the canyon is windows, so you can look outside while you eat. They also have a huge balcony patio expanding the entire length of the restaurant, with nice rocker benches to sit on. We called ahead and let them know we were coming with a large group. The Owner, who answered the phone, was very accommodating and said he would save us a table. Upon our arrival, he greeted us friendly, welcomed us, and explained the daily specials. Obviously we were with a large group, so I am just going to review the food that my husband and I ordered. It was so scrumptious. We always try to split two entrees so we can sample different things. He ordered the fried cornmeal catfish with coleslaw, fries, pinto beans, hot water fried cornbread, homemade tarter sauce and green tomato relish. Omg! Soooo good. The catfish was very hot and freshly prepared. The large platter came with 5 pieces of fish for $14.99. The pinto beans had ham hocks in them and were the best I have ever had. The coleslaw was lightly dressed and still crisp, the cornbread was crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, and the tarter sauce was the best I have had. It was laced with fresh dill and was well seasoned. They even had jalapeno ketchup for the fries! They really thought of every detail. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, which came with homemade cream gravy, mashed potatoes, and a daily veggie (green beans) with an angel flake biscuit. Everything was great. The chicken was a decent size of meat, and was well seasoned. The mashed potatoes tasted freshly mashed. I really enjoyed it. For dessert, I ordered a piece of the lemon buttermilk pie, which was creamy and tart. It had the texture of lemon curd and was not overly tart or sweet. My husband ordered a unique dessert called Company's Comin Pie. It was a meringue pie shell with nuts and crackers in it, and filled with fresh whipped cream and pineapple. So tasty! I have never had anything like it. It was not too sweet, which I expected it to be. The rest of our table seemed to like their desserts too. All in all, if you find yourself in the Arkansas mountains, Cliff House is a great place to go. There wasn't too many review written about the food, so hopefully this detailed review helps. I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 because the service was a bit on the slow side but it seemed to be because they were busy.

Like delicious food? Great service? A beautiful view? Well, I guess one out of three ain't bad. The Cliff House Inn has a lot of potential, and the food is decent. Not amazing, but fine. But the service is HORRIBLE. I mean, it was like something out of Candid Camera. After starting to take our order and informing us that they were out of hash browns for the rest of the year (I guess there aren't potatoes in Arkansas), the waitress excused herself to run to the kitchen. We presumed that she was confirming the great Hash Brown Shortage of 2014, but after much laughter from the kitchen, she came back out and proceeded to serve a couple of other tables before disappearing again without even a glance in our direction. No rush, lady. We weren't in the middle of our order or anythi--oh wait, we were! When she returned, she was laughing again, I guess because screwing with hungry folks is hilarious. We told her we thought she'd gone to check on the hash browns, and she said that no, she hadn't. She then took our order like nothing had happened. While waiting for the food, we went out onto the balcony and took in the beautiful Grand Canyon of Arkansas. Thankfully, our magician--I mean, waitress--didn't pull her disappearing act again, and the food came quickly. She started being more attentive, but it was too little, too late. Since we didn't give her a tip, here's one for you: you better love the view because you might be staring at it a long damn time while the wait staff has comedy hour in the kitchen. Or maybe just go somewhere else.

I really expected freshly prepared hamburgers and fresh cut fries. Instead we got frozen burgers, frozen out of the bag fries, sweet potato fries and frozen fried green beans. If you want a fantastic view and don't care about the food then this is the place for you.

I have been eating there since the mid 80 and the food is as good now as it ever was. I love going to a place that I love and it never changes - always consistent and good. Ate there for my birthday and the catfish was as good as anywhere in the country. Keep up the good work.

A gorgeous view of the Grand Canyon of the Ozarks. It's definitely worth the stop. There's a back deck eating area that looks out over the canyon. I can't speak for the food as the wait was too long for us, but it smelled good and we wish we had stayed. They are known for their pies. Pull over if you're on your way into the Ozarks National Park, on Highway 7 just south of Jasper, for some great photo opportunities and stop at the small gift shop.
