If I could, I would rate this a 3.5. It's not quite a 4... but close. My good friend and I went here for breakfast this morning. The interior is super clean and cute. There were only about 5 other couples there, but it was a Monday morning, probably their slow time. There is a sign telling you to seat yourself. Before we could seat ourselves the server warmly greeted us and asked if we wanted a high chair for my friends baby! Good service! We sat and got our coffee (she even brewed decaf just for me!). The menu is small and contains the breakfast basics. Biscuits, eggs, pancakes, etc... I had a western omelet with 2 biscuits, and my friend had the 'country boy' breakfast. Her plate was filled with biscuits, bacon, and 2 eggs, all covered in gravy. Yum. Both of us enjoyed our food. It was nothing spectacular or out-of-this-world, but it was good and very affordable. The service was great and the restaurant was clean.

So I've passed by First Street Cafe a few times and wondered about, so a girlfriend and I decided to grab lunch there this afternoon. Walking in it was not what I expected at all, From the outside it looks almost a little bit dinghy but inside its bright and the walls are covered with license plates and different memorabilia, very diner-centric. We were greeted warmly and immediately and asked to grab a seat, they were pretty busy and our server looked a little harried but she came over and took our drink order right away. The menu shows that they only serve lunch & breakfast and are open monday-saturday something like 6-2 (dont take this for fact its from memory but I do know they close @ 2) The menu includes a great selection of burgers, salads, and sandwiches with soups and special plate lunches as well. The breakfast menu included all your breakfast staples- pancakes, french toast, hash browns, bacon, eggs, etc and I imagine they carry specials during the breakfast hours as well. I chose to order the chicken tender plate which included hand cut chicken tenders, fresh homemade fries and a side salad. My girlfriend ordered the chicken sandwich which also came with your choice of side and she chose french fries. The fries were phenomenal! Some of the best french fries I've ever had, you could tell they were fresh and handcut and just had really good flavor. The salad was fresh and really good and the chicken tenders were also good. I wish there was a bit more seasoning on the chicken but they were good. Can't wait to go back and bring the hubby, the burgers looked delicious and hes a burger man! The prices are very reasonable and I'm happy to have another breakfast/lunch option besides chilis or fast food in jacksonville! The owner (or atleast I think he was?) was also there and he let us know they've only been open for 3 months so I think for a new business they're doing a great job! Go check it out for sure.

We got there at 1:30 and they were more interested in mopping the floor and closing than us. Service was not great but food was good. Our server was not happy that we needed to look at the menu befor ordering. I felt very rushed and ended up taking my last bites with me because they obviously wanted us to leave....it was just barely 2p......probably won't go back.

The burgers are the best & staff is friendly. Cute little place to eat & if you're in a hurry this place is quick with getting there food out. The food is Always hot & fresh!

The breakfast food was good, typical diner fare and fast (especially important for us since we were dining with a 2.5 year old). Our server was pleasant and attentive during our meal, and the prices were reasonable, $15 for 2 adults and 1 child - will eat here again!
