This is a very good BBQ place. I believe they only serve pork but, it may have just been that day. This place is definitely a bare bones, local, small town dive so don't be surprised if the locals look at you a little funny. If you are not from the south it is very noticeable. Lannie's is a small place with a couple of tables. I didn't see a bathroom so it is probably in the kitchen area. Everyone I saw came in and just picked up their food. Can't even remember if you could get fries. It is really bare bones. The people who work there are very nice. It is a family owned restaurant and they have pictures of the family all around that you can look at while you wait for your food. There is definitely a warmth and history about this place that I really liked. The BBQ was very good. Very simple pork with a couple of slices of wonder bread and a drink. Yummy. If we ever get back to Selma, we will definitely be back for more Lannie's BBQ. By the way, it is so small town we thought we were lost and I looked over at what I thought was a garage but, it was Lannie's. So no need to worry about your GPS malfunctioning. You are not lost. It is a really small place in the middle of a local neighborhood and there are no other businesses nearby.

The BBQ here is serious, although I have family there, I admittedly anticipate visiting Lannies as much as my relatives.

Seriously good barbecue!! We stopped here because of the reviews after visiting the Voting Rights museum and walking the Edmund Petus bridge. I had the pulled pork sandwich (small), and an order of corn nuggets, my husband had the whiting and my MIL the catfish. All of it AMAZINGLY GOOD, and even better washed down with sweet tea. We all opted for shared sides, fried okra, potato salad and the corn fritters. For so much fried food, it was thankfully not too greasy. Although not the healthiest of meals, given all the walking we did beforehand, we felt A-OK splurging! Leaving there now, full and so glad I don't have to drive given the food coma I've brought onto myself!!!

Worth every detour you have to go to get here. Pulled pork and corn nuggets. The BBQ sauce is the cherry on the top. Couldn't stop eating! Want more!

I love a good dive! I got the whole wing special. I highly recommend it! I was very happy with my order and the price. The wings were freshly cooked to order perfectly breaded and delicious! I was extremely happy with my order! I don't know that I will ever try the BBQ at Lannie's now that I've had the wings, but the BBQ did smell and look good. I saw a couple other patrons get the catfish which looked great too! If you're in Selma this is a place to try!

You know a barbecue joint is going to be good when 1). It's a hole in the wall in a neighborhood; 2). You can't find a place to park, and people are parking in the grass and in the middle of the street; and 3). There's a half-naked pig on the sign. Lannie's has all of these things, so my expectations were high, and I was not disappointed. I got a to-go order, and the cashier was nice and friendly. Unfortunately, I ordered WAY too much food, but my aching belly is to your benefit, because I got a good taste of lots of things. (In fact, I will not crave barbecue -- or food -- again for a LONG time.) They didn't have a half-slab of ribs, so I went whole hog (See what I did there?) and ordered a full slab. They asked if I wanted them separated, something I hadn't thought about, but since I was in a hotel, it was a good idea. I had also read that the pulled pork was good and crispy, so I ordered that. It wasn't really crispy, but it was still good. Sides were corn nuggets, fried okra, and onion rings. They gave me a small Mason jar of sauce, too, which was a nice touch. The meat was very good. Tender, with a nice, smoky flavor. At first, I didn't like the sauce -- it seems almost like a ketchup-vinegar base, and it was a bit sweet, but as I got into it, I began feeling a little heat, and I liked it. The corn nuggets were easily the best side dish. Creamy on the inside, crunchy on the outside. What's not to like? The okra was sliced a bit large, which made it feel a touch slimy. The onion rings were ok -- looked like beer batter, but after traveling in the heated box back to my hotel, both the onion rings and the okra were more mushy than crispy. I'm sure they're better eaten there. All in all, a good, solid barbecue joint.

This is some of the best BBQ I have ever eaten. I went with a coworker. We arrived right before closing and they were still happy to serve us. $8.99 for the Dinner and it was easily enough food for 2 meals. The sauce was amazing! Tangy with the right amount of sweet and spice. I am not a fan of overly sweet BBQ sauce, so this was perfect. It had just a little heat to it. I cannot recommend this place enough. They also sell the sauce to go. BUY IT!

Well, it's a drive from Orange County. It's in Selma, Alabama. But having driven through the south a few years ago with one of the sole purposes of finding good food- this place was incredible. The owners, the giant plates of everything you could imagine.

You have to drive through a residential neighborhood to get to this hole in the wall. I had stopped by the Selma Post Office to drop off some mail and I asked the postal clerk "Who has the best BBQ in the neighborhood" and he said Lannie's. So off we went to have lunch at this spot, and ordered the most popular dishes. The food was very good especially with the crispy skin they place on top, yummy. The prices are very reasonable and most customers will take their orders to go.

This place is a truly authentic small-town southern BBQ joint. We stood out as non-locals, but the proprietor was very friendly, and the food was amazing. I would come back to Selma just to eat here again. We got rib sandwiches, a pork-chop sandwich, onion rings, corn nuggets, and a slab of ribs. The ribs were perfection. They were tender to the point of slipping right off the bone, but still weren't overly soft. The sauce had a hint of vinegar - not your sugary sweet BBQ. The rib sandwich was basically bread slices with ribs between - skip the sandwich and just get ribs. The pork chop was amazing. Very flavorful. The corn nuggets were also very good - go with 12 instead of 6.

My husband and had lunch at Lannie's on a Saturday afternoon. The service was good until we received our food. After that the server never came back to our table. No refill on iced tea, no "how is it?", no bill. My husband had to get up and go get the bill. The server hadn't even written it out yet. The food was actually quite good. We had the bbq plate. It's too bad our server was so bad. She ruined the experience. Also, there were too many blaring tv sets. Each tv was on a different station and they were all too loud. Summary: Good food, bad service.
