We had Sunday breakfast recently at Bernetti's Diner, a family owned & operated country restaurant located in Pelham AL, about 1,200 miles away from my home near Pelham NH. Bernetti's Diner is located in a small strip plaza along US 31/AL 3, a few minutes south of the Riverchase area. We had Sunday breakfast recently at Bernetti's Diner. We were graciously greeted as soon as we entered and could sit wherever we wanted. The atmosphere is very homey with rows of booths and tables, bright orange painted walls (art on walls) and light green/dark pink trim. The breakfast offerings include eggs, omelets, pancakes, French toast, biscuits & gravy, grits, home fries, and sides. Several breakfast specials are offered including the Cowboys Only Breakfast (Ribeye, 3 Eggs, Grits, Toast), the Hub Cap Special (3 Pancakes & Smoked Sausage), Dizzy Hen & Taters (3 Egg Potato & Cheese Omelet & Toast), and Country Boy (3 Eggs, 3 Bacon, Smoked Sausage, Grits or Potatoes & Toast). The All You Can Eat Breakfast (served daily) for $7.99 is the best deal here and you can order almost anything off the breakfast menu with seconds, thirds, etc on the house and the food is made and cooked to order each time. We started out with 2 coffees ($0.99 each) while deciding what to order. My friend ordered a light 2-2-2 breakfast special 2 eggs, 2 bacon, and 2 pancakes. I decided to go with the All You Can Eat Breakfast and got a Western Omelet, 2 Sausage Patties, Biscuit with White Gravy, Home Fries, & 2 Pancakes. The food came out quickly and our whole table was filled with several plates of food. The food was pretty good and very filling to eat. The omelet was folded halfmoon shaped with bell peppers, ham, onions, and cheese. The home fries were fresh cut thick potato slices, grilled, seasoned, and browned. The biscuit was soft and the white gravy on the sweet side. The pancakes I had were semi thick and soft and fluffy inside. One of my friend' s pancakes was slightly undercooked with some batter inside. Other than that, the rest of his food was all good. The service was superfriendly and we were checked on often by 2 servers and topoffs on the coffee were frequent. I was asked if I wanted anymore food. I did want to try the French toast which was sprinkled with powdered sugar, but I was stuffed! Overall, a pretty good southern style homecooked breakfast served at Bernetti's Diner. We had no idea this little jewel was just around the corner. We have now eaten there twice. Great meat and three for lunch. Now I want to try their breakfast everyone is talking about. Clean, home cooked meal at reasonable prices. Next to Enterprise Car rental on 31 just south of Valleydale rd.

One star is being generous. Service was terrible and the food was worse. We walked in and sat down right away. The first high chair was broken and when we asked for another one, they acted like it was a huge inconvenience and we had insulted them for even mentioning it. Got the second high chair, again, broken. Ok whatever, stuff happens. Now for the food. The coffee was mediocre. I'm not sure where the French press was that was mentioned in one of the other reviews, but it wasn't here. The grits were bland, zero salt. I can always add salt, so to me that wasn't really a big deal. We ordered the French toast for my girls, and they wouldn't touch it. It was made with limp, plain, thin wonder bread that tasted awful. The bacon was super thin, not thick like mentioned in a previous review. And here's the clincher....the biscuits were Pilsbury!!! What restaurant does that?! Terrible. You can't call yourself a good southern restaurant when you can't even bother to make your own biscuits. All in all this place was absolutely terrible. Avoid it!

This is a great local place! We came for breakfast and had a great experience. The staff is extremely friendly and the service was really prompt. The food was absolutely delicious, and we had a variety of different foods. The prices are very reasonable and the portion sizes are good. Its got a family-frienly environment, and there are lots of regular customers, which I feel is always a good sign for a breakfast place. We will absolutely be back.

Had lunch here on Sunday, looks like everyone else has discovered our secret, but even though it was busy, service was really fast and the food was great! Chicken and dressing was truly home made and really good, vegetables were very fresh and great tasting, green beans, butter beans, okra, mashed potatoes all amazing!! The best part of Bernetti's is how friendly everyone is and how they make you feel like part of the family, what a great place!

Myself and two NYC lifers went here, and lets just say they don't get out much, or just never leave the "cosy confines" of the NE. I loved this place. Your typical great diner food - lots of choices, nothing out of this world, but much better than your usual Coney Island/Olga's Kitchen chain diner trash. Just about the most Alabama-esque quick eat spot you could imagine, save for stopping on the side of the road and ordering some freshly caught catfish from people you have more fingers than they have teeth. Ultimately, what we have here, all you urbanites, is pure rural Alabama blacksnake diner. And it ain't too goddamned beaucoup.

Great collards. The banana pudding is a favorite. The staff is delightful. At lunch, you can't eat faster anywhere else, but it's so much better than a chain!

My new favorite restaurant This place has great Southern cooking -- wonderful place for Meat and 2 (or 3). Their country fried steak is a very generous portion and is the best I have had. Fresh vegies, Southern style, wonderful cornbread muffins. If you prefer real butter for your cornbread, bring your own.

Awesome place for breakfast!!! I recent found this place one hungry morning, and I give it a shot. This food and service was great! I got the steak and eggs, coffee, biscuit, and grits for around $12. It's was a lot of food for the money. The steak was big and juicy, the biscuit was freshly baked. I'll definitely be coming back to this place!!!
