The food was excellent. The quality of the ingredients and taste were great. We ordered: 1. Crab Claws and Gumbo (Appetizer) were super 2. Beef and Puff, Crab meat Imperial (Entree) was fantastic NOTE: We've spent some time in New Orleans so we are especially critical of gumbo wherever we go. This gumbo was good but just a bit in the bland side for us compared to what we get back at home. Service was some of the best since I moved to Auburn 9 mo ago. I thought it was a little pricey but worth every penny IMHO.

Wow. Absolutely terrible service. Waited 15 minutes and finally got water and my son got sweet tea that was sweet but bitter (old). Waited 10+ more minutes and our order was never taken. Left for someplace that cares for their customers.

Jimmy's is a classy restaurant with exceptional food. The seafood is fresh and cooked perfectly. I had the shrimp and grits which was delicious. My wife had the seafood platter. I am from out of town but when I come to the area I always make it a point to eat here. The service is great as well and the prices are reasonable. We highly recommend Jimmy's.

Honestly, I expected more. From the service and the food. I love a good shrimp and grits, so I gave them a try. The shrimp were fine, but the sauce was really bland. Not much flavor to it. However, the asparagus casserole on the side was really good. But it's pretty hard for anything covered in cheese to be terrible. The girlfriend had the pecan-crusted trout. It was O.K. Her potatoes looked good (I'm assuming they were since I didn't get a bite.) For the prices, I was expecting more. Tapas 5.95 for a bite or two? Service was slow, had empty glasses multiple times. However, the owners wife (sweet, older lady) was great and friendly. Nothing that would not keep me from giving Jimmy's a second try, but I'd try something different. Great restaurant decor and a good location.

Jimmy's in Opelika is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the Auburn-Opelika area, and it might just take the top spot. Every time I have gone there, the food has been impeccable and the service is usually great. I have never had better shrimp and grits, and it is a dish that I have ordered at many places. The wine list is superb, and they also run some great specials during the week. My boyfriend and I love it so much that we even went two nights in a row. It is a great spot for a date night or somewhere for me to bring my parents when they are visiting from out of town. There is a nice New Orleans take on all of the dishes, and you can tell that the ingredients are fresh.

I consider myself a Shrimp Po-boy connoisseur. I visited Jimmy's to try the shrimp po-boy and ended up having their Jambalaya over rice with a fried green tomato and greens. The meal was good, but I could usually like a little more kick to my jambalaya. I ended up ordering the shrimp po-boy to go with another side of fried green tomatoes. I have tried the po-boy from almost every restaurant in the Columbus - Opelika - Auburn area that serves them and Jimmy's is the best that I have tasted so far. The key is having the right bread and Jimmy's is the best in the area as far as I can tell. The fried green tomatoes where good and if I'm in the Opelika-Auburn area again I will definitely stop by to grab a bite to eat.

We make Jimmy's a regular stop for lunch when we are enroute to Gulf Shores from Atlanta. The food and prices are very good as well as the service. I only wish I had the energy to stop for dinner after the long ride on the return. One other thing, Opelika is one of the cleanest towns I've seen in a long time.

I've eaten at Jimmy's for Sunday lunch several times and have always been very satisfied, but the last visit was lacking the quality of previous visits. I hope this is just a temporary problem. The Chicken Rockefeller was bland and unimpressive. The vegetables were equally disappointing. The green beans tasted as if they had just opened a can and warmed them. The service was indifferent at best. It was a disappointing visit. I will try it again, but it just wasn't up to the normal standard.

Wanted somewhere nice to eat after an Auburn game. Excellent. I had the Shrimp and grits and it was outstanding. Wife had a blackened catfish again excellent and daughter has crawfish etoufee. We asked for hot sauce and they brought quite a selection including their own brand - you have to try it. For the area it is the best restaurant we have found so far. Wait staff was attentive but not over board.

Wine and food lovers unite at Jimmy's. I was first introduced at one of Jimmy's monthly wine dinners where he pairs a wine with each course. We've been back countless times since that first visit. You can't go wrong with anything listed as the Chef's specials or containing crawfish. The wine list is impressive, not just in volume, but by price, varietal and region. Most of the staff is also very knowledgeable about what to pair with your food if you aren't sure. Jimmy's is one of our all time favorites for lunch or dinner and special occasions!

Really good food. Expect to pay the proper price for it. The wait staff is pretty honest too. Great suggestions. Poor college student can only afford to come once in awhile.

I'm blown away every time I eat at Jimmy's. He makes a completely different vegan meal for me every time I come, and it's always delicious. I can't personally attest for the meat dishes, but my friends say they're great. I wish I worked closer to downtown so I could eat there more often!

Delish! As a person who grew up in Opelika in the late 60s, it's great to have some good restaurants on the area. Love the oyster po-boy and the shrimp and grits. A pleasant environment with good service.

I absolutely love this place! I've been here 5 times, one of those was lunch and one was a carry out meal. I have always had amazing service and delicious food. The atmosphere is wonderful, quiet, dim - great for an intimate dinner. I live 30 minutes away but will make the drive any day to eat here.

We were passing through from Georgia and stumbled upon this little place. The place is elegant but inviting and cozy. We had a beer and got right into lunch. I had a fried catfish and shrimp combo. The catfish was soft and flaky, you could tell that it was fresh. The side of corn fritters was delicious. I sampled my hubby's shrimp and grits and it was to die for! The waiter was extremely professional and had very elegant manners. My only suggestions would be to give an option (for a price) of 2 or 3 sides with meal (I left wanting to try more) and a bigger portion of shrimp and grits (because it was so good!)

I had an absolutely truly delightful experience here. Because I can't read, I ended up accidentally arriving at this restaurant 30 minutes before their opening time but the employee quickly let me in as it was about 30 degrees and snowing outside. The restaurant was so gorgeous and intimate that I wished I stayed longer than I did. The chef was so kind and started cooking my pasta jambalaya despite my early visit. You can tell everyone who works here loves what they do, that they were so excited to provide any recommendations even if they haven't officially opened yet for the day. My waiter had a glass of water for me and we were bored enough that he poured a complimentary glass of wine as I waited for my food. I ended up bringing the bottle home. The other waiters that were prepping for the restaurant were friendly, gave their personal suggestions, and included me in their conversation. The pasta was an explosion of flavor and was enough to have you wanting more. The ingredients and noodles were a perfect ratio. I was so full but finished it all anyway. The portions are generous and worth what you pay for.

Classy setting with an excellent menu selection. We went there for chicken and waffles for lunch and they were delicious. Great service and staff as well!

The owner retired from teaching at Auburn University and wanted to stay in the area. So he and his wife started Jimmy's. The food is good, and the service is great. The bone-in ribeye was affordable compared to Atlanta prices and tender, delicious, and cooked perfectly. They are very proud of their award winning ribeye and for folks that retired from a university system, they sure nailed the food! The herb butter for the bread was outstanding and the iced tea was exceptional.

As a visiting Northerner, I wanted to experience some Southern classics and Jimmy's did not disappoint! I arrived around 7pm on a weeknight and found the restaurant to have a charming ambience and the service to be attentive but respectful. As lovely as the people were, the real star was the food. I thoroughly enjoyed the grilled shrimp with cheesy grits and will be craving the fried green tomatoes with rémoulade! My entree was cooked to perfection and the flavors and textures of each bite were simply scrumptious. The shrimp were flavorful and tender, the grits will be my benchmark for all grits to come, and the fried green tomatoes were a lovely combination of crispy, soft, deliciousness. I indulged in dessert and fell in LOVE with the bread pudding with bourbon sauce. It was a straightforward, warm, comforting dessert that tempts you to forget your manners and lick the plate.

Tried it for the first time this weekend . Nice atmosphere. Well stocked bar. Service was great ! Our server was very friendly and enthusiastic without being obtrusive. Wine menu was good, my wife chose a red from a winery near Birmingham ( close enough to call it local I guess) it was earthy and delicious and I ordered my stand by Chardonnay. Bread came out after the wine with a really nice combination of herbed butter, olive oil and balsamic. Entrées came out quickly. My wife had a shrimp salad she said was excellent. I had the crab encrusted salmon with mashed potatoes and steams vegetables. Salmon was cooked perfectly and the crab and cheese topping was amazing. Potatoes were delicious and the vegetables were cooked just enough to have a lot of flavor but still had a nice crisp bite. It was all perfectly seasoned. Great place! Would recommend it highly.
