High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

The food and service were better this time. Good was still slow coming, but because they had to recook his meat on his quesadilla burger, which they noticed and fixed before ever bringing out and the waitress let us know. I got the tomato basil soup and half a artisan chicken sandwich, both were really good.

Terrible Service! I stopped in for a beer and a salad. I sat at the bar and waited for at least 15 minutes, while the bartender was moving things around. She acted like she was angry with the world. She never asked me if I wanted anything, So I eventually got up and left. I will not return!

Wanting to try some ribs, we stopped at this location this afternoon. Until today, I did not know Applebee's deep fries the BBQ ribs before dousing them with sauce!! The fries were limp and the "BBQ" ribs were awful despite being a nationwide promotion. Staff was lackadaisical and service suffered. Never again!!

Clean which was very nice. I noticed the restaurants we have visited in the recent weeks have had dirty menus and just a film on everything. This was a nice Applebee's. Our server was very nice but had dark yellow teeth that looked like they needed a good cleaning which is disturbing to me. Kind of messes with my appetite. I ordered the skinny Rita and loved it! Plenty of alcohol but it don't taste like it. We had the pretzels for appetizer and it was very good... Not enough dip for all 4 pretzels and it looked kind of skimpy even when they delivered it to our table so I think they could do better than that. My husband had noted he was very thirsty yet the appetizer was delivered without any drinks. Not good service... hmmm. We both ordered shrimp and steak. I had the Parmesan steak and shrimp and my husband had the other one. The steaks were finally served and yet my husbands did not have the shrimp on it that was part of my husbands steak. Now the meal could have been salvaged at this point had the waiter been on top of his game and went directly to the kitchen to advise then directly to us and give us an update but he didn't. I told my husband to eat what he had as I could see the server had even made it to the kitchen yet to advise the chef. THEN without coming to us at all, the server went to take another table's order, checked on two other tables and then back to the computer and STILL had not come over to us to let us know what was going on... My husband finished his meal and then was livid... There was no calming him at this point... Manager showed up and we told him and the mgr said that our server was generally one of the best. Not really what we needed to hear as this was not a good experience. The general manager asked us to please come back for another try and have us a free meal to make up or it. It will be a while before we go back even with a free meal coming to us. Eating out should not be a stressful experience!

So friends insisted on going again, so we did. It has been a while. The food is much improved. The "all-in burgers" are really very good when served as billed in the menu. The major change is we were assigned a waitress named Shannah H. who was attentive, pleasant, knew the menu and who had excellent timing with asking our needs. Overall a first class experience. So, they appear to be trying to make a come back and considering this was once one of my favorites of this gendre of restaurants I am delighted. For this visit..BRAVO!..perfect. All the dishes were "spot-on" and the new menu is fun and interesting...Keep it up Applebees!

The service is usually terrible. Once in a blue moon, you may have ok service. The food is meh. The best thing on the menu is the four cheese mac with chicken tenders. Do Not order steak, it will either be flavorless, or over seasoned, there is NO middle ground. They get two stars simply because the food doesn't make my stomach hurt, and that mac is fantastic! They never seem busy enough that all of their servers should be occupied. Getting your food is slow going, and between placing your order and getting your food, good luck getting a refill. Yet after all that waiting, your food isn't very hot.

Visited this location just 4 days ago on a whim (one of those indecisive, "I don't care, what do you want to eat?" type of whims) and was instantly reminded why I haven't visited an Applebee's in over 4 years. We walked in and were greeted by a warm steamy feel which was turn-off number one. Turn-off two happened when the waitress hadn't a clue what Queso is even though it's on the menu. When our lunch came you could clearly see evidence of bad freezer burn on the broccoli. The worst part of the experience was my salmon. I chose the salmon for the nutrition but could hardly eat it as the stench of the fish was extremely poor. Apparently the longer fish is frozen, the worse it smells. I will definitely say that the most pleasurable part of the experience were the attitudes of the staff, they really were all very friendly.

Service was pretty poor. Nice enough, but took a very long time to get our drinks. In fact, we got our appetizer before our drinks. Our server was just slow, very slow. He did not prioritize anything correctly or show any sense of urgency over anything. Entrees arrived and mine was missing a key ingredient. I ordered the "Sirloin and garlic herbed shrimp", and it arrived minus the shrimp. After waiting forever for the server to return to tell him, as another person delivered the food, and said I had to tell the server, the shrimp arrived about 10 minutes later (after I had finished the steak). I told them I did not want the shrimp at this point and would take a discount, so they took $3 off the steak and (not) shrimp. Really wanted to give them a positive review but sorry to say, cannot make it too glowing based on this visit. My steak was actually pretty good, though my wife's was overcooked. The rest of the food was fairly good though. If not for the poor service, I would probably rate them 4 stars, maybe 5 if the service was the complete opposite of this experience. I did ask to speak to a manager, who was very apologetic, and provided a voucher for a free meal on our next visit. Hopefully when we come back to use the voucher we have a completely different experience and I can re-write my review.

Applebee's is usually good spot to get some food for the money. Now I normally don't get dessert when I have lunch however when I come to Applebee's I always get the Blondie for desert! Must have!

While the server was very nice and cheerful, the food, especially the shrimp, was much too salty. The chicken was slightly overdone.

I used to be a huge fan of Applebee's, but they are on a serious decline. The staff was nice enough. The restaurant had a strange smell to it, which isn't very comforting when you're about to eat. The food was lukewarm and tasteless. To borrow one of my favorite phrases for situations like this, "Cuisine that is only marginally preferable to hunger."

Service was terrible. I swore to myself that I'd never go here again but after helping a buddy move, we stopped in for a few drinks and an appetizer. I hadn't been in the place for 5-6 years and it looks exactly the same. We went to sit at the bar but it was filthy so we moved to a table instead. We caught attitude immediately from the waiter about how we should have went to the front to tell someone that we were moving. We got their nachos. If that wasn't the most pathetic nachos I've ever seen. The only thing good about the visit was the beer, thank god they couldn't mess that up. And, I can see how annoying it would be to be a dinner guest there and have to put up with the loud music from the bar. Someone put on a song and you could still hear it in the bathroom. If you want a pub feel, make it a pub. Don't make it a family restaurant and make other guest put up with the loudness from the bar. Rant over..

The WORST Applebee's I have ever been to. I will never be back. We have been here over an hour and I still do not have my food!! And there are not many people here! 4 waitresses have told the manager people are upset about their wait. He seems incompetent.

Easily the worst Applebees I've been to. Service was horrible. My food was good but my son's was not. I was charged for food we were told they were out of. It won't be here long at this rate. There are too many other dining choices in this area to ever visit here again.

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
