Perfect! Service and food! We being from New Orleans, food is our enjoyment. We had the Grouper, and it was delicious, and Jared is a great server! Don't miss this local treasure! Great time!

In town for a marching band contest, I came here with a group of 8. The place was PACKED because of the crowd in town. There were some minor problems with the service, but you could see they were a little overwhelmed. The food was excellent, I had the Voodoo Pasta. Excellent sauce, just the correct amount of spicy. The part of the meal that really stood out was the salad, though. I had the Alabama Greens, it was great. I'm a sucker for any salad with goat cheese and this did the trick. I know Jacksonville isn't a culinary mecca, but this meal hit the spot.

My all time favorite restaurant. The staff is professional and friendly, the food is spectacular, the inside of the restaurant is designed beautifully, the price is right, and it's super close to campus for all you Gamecocks. I would suggest the Alabama Field Green Salad and the Chicken or Veal Parmesan. This isn't your typical Olive Garden Italian. It's mom and pop Italian, and it's wonderful and worth the extra dime.

Effina's is one of the better places to eat in Jacksonville, AL. I really enjoy the Carne Bovina Specialty pizza. It's a white sauce pizza topped with marinated ribeye grilled to order & a balsamic reduction. It's very good! You can order it as a personal pizza or family size. The Voodoo Pasta isn't a bad choice either.

By far one of my favorite places to eat and drink. Effina's always have new beer on tap and a wonderful wine list. The severs here will help you pair your wine to the meal. The chicken rigatoni is so tasty with the artichokes, bacon, fresh tomatoes and the pasta is not over cooked yummy... Must try at least once!!

Ate here a while back. Service and food was good. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. A little pricey, but it didn't break the bank. Only real downside was music was too loud. Would definitely visit again.

I don't claim to know some foods better than others just because I live in Chicago, but there is something to say about the many choices of locations and styles from that little sexy boot country overseas, and brother, Chicago has LOTS of those choices. Its small but has an upstairs I did not venture to, but the decor is not bad. Not as memorable as California Grill but this place has a bit of class to it. While they were not sure about some basics, (bread with oil but no parm?) we asked and they kindly oblidged but with very odd looks! The food and choices were nice for a small southern resturant up against big city reviews I have done for said Boot furnished cuisine. I started with a Mista, not bad, could use some more fresh tomatoes and while not a caprase it sufficed. The main meal was very good and so was my friends, I had filet and he had chicken parm, both good basic choices that should not be hard to mess up but the meals were very good and we finished them whole. (add the shrooms but the steak was cooked exactly as ordered) As you can see in the pics the portions were not a big issue. Some places have huge meals, knowing this was not one of them gave me room for chocolate cake, a MUST as it was truly unique and very good. While its hard to make major errors in basic italian cooking, its also hard to get a lot of things done very well and take away a point for no cappuccino, and its a solid 4, go and enjoy, but note, beer and wine only, the license for more is too clostly for the owners.

My boyfriend and were so excited to try this place, we love Italian and great atmosphere. This could not of been more of a let down. First off, we were the only customers in there and the service sucked. The guy was really nice but very inattentive, he didn't even refill our drinks... He had to come back twice to make sure we ordered water and not tea. I ordered fettucini Alfredo and I got chicken Alfredo, I wasn't happy. I don't eat chicken. The pasta was cold. The portions were too small for the price. Overall, bad experience and we will not be eating there again, such a shame.

The Girlfriend and I stopped here late on a Saturday night... the parking lot was practically deserted, but there were a couple of people eating at other tables. We were seated quickly. The decor was very nice and everything was neat and clean. We wanted to sit and talk a little before we ordered, but the server kept coming over every minute (literally, I timed it) to take our order. I guess they were in a hurry to get us out as we showed up about 45 minutes before they closed for the night. This became more evident as the night wore on, as our server kept "checking back" on us every five minutes or so. When she wasn't busy checking on us, she was busy doing her sidework and sweeping the floor, including sweeping the floor right next to our table. I felt a little rushed and wasn't very pleased with the service. The food, however, was great. I had a great pasta dish with sausage. I can't recall the name of it, but it had a nice kick to it. The portion size was just right, just enough to fill me up. I felt like the pricing was on par with other Italian chains. I was very pleased with the food, not so much the service (especially the rushed feeling we got. I almost felt like apologizing for asking our server to do her job. That's why I gave it two stars. Decent service would have gotten three, because the food really is pretty good.

We stopped in on Saturday, 10/15 and were seated quickly in a nice upstairs loft area of the open building. Our party ran the gamut, with a fish dish, a steak entree and a vegetarian offering. Appetizers ordered were a Arichoke spinach dip with croutons and calamari, both nicely done. The entrees, A pecan crusted mahi mahi, Filet tips, A bouillabaisse type dish and Eggplant Parmesan were all very nicely done. Touch pricey but all in all very good. One more note excellent service, by our young wait person, and good follow thru by the staff.

The prices are too high for the portion that is given. The service was not good at all!!! The table next to us got more attention. I spoke with the manager and he was less than enthusiastic about helping. Save your money and go somewhere else, where the food is fresh and management at least pretends to care about its customers.

It's about the setting, and the setting is Jacksonville, AL. I've nothing against the place (I once lived there), but it's not a Mecca for fine dining. So on this stage Effina's manages to perform well enough to get three stars. The food isn't bad (but neither is it memorable), the service is mostly college kids who try hard, the wine list... well, there isn't one (house wine by the glass or bottle), and the prices are OK. Don't misunderstand - I can't give a better suggestion if you're going to eat at a J'ville restaurant and don't want t burger. Just align your expectations to your surroundings.

I'm not impressed with their entrees but I really like the pizza and most of their appetizers. It is waaaaaaaaay too expensive for the quality of food you get though. Service has always been excellent.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
