Actually not so bad Mexican food in Bama! It is tradition we come here on the 26th for my cousins birthday. Poor guy has to celebrate his birthday in Alabama but we always make sure he has a good time!! Some of our cousins came from ATL we haven't seen in such a long time so we had a BIG group. We sat by the bar to order drinks since there was a wait, but in about 20 min we were seated which was great when they told us around 40 min. We got some Cadillac margaritas which were really good. Salt on the rim how I like it and you can request for grand marnier shots on the side. For FOOD we tried the following: Queso Blanco (5 stars): Love queso, this is really good and not too thick, delish! Special: Warm Crab Dip (2.5 stars): Least favorite thing, this didn't taste fresh at all. The chips were really thick & this wasn't really a good special. Fried Mushroom Appetizer (4 stars): This was good to munch on although don't see how it's really Mexican. Combo Fajitas Beef & Chicken (5 stars): This was awesome, I shared with my cousin who only wanted chicken, and I ate the beef. I asked how it was normally cooked, they said medium well, I asked if they could do medium instead and they did, it was much more tender. The butter it came with was really good with it too!!! Now I know next time to get this again!!! Sopapillas (4 stars): Delicious light pastries sprinkled with cinnamon & sugar and served with honey. This was thicker than others that I've had, but it still wasn't bad. Our waiter was joking around with us and pretty attentive for our large group, not like most places who know they are getting gratuity anyways. I will definitely be back as always, this experience was the best one yet!

The only restaurant I have ever been to that had a 20 min wait for lunch, so I was expecting mind blowing Tex Mex. What I received was mediocre. Not bad, but not great either. I live steps from the # 1 Tex Mex joint in the country, so my taste buds were going WTF. The locals obviously love the place though. Enjoy your bag chips and jar salsa. ;)

For Huntsville, this classifies as an average Tex-Mex (Mexican restaurant) with average food. Food 3/5: Rosie's has good tasting food. It's on par with other mexican restaurants in the Huntsville area. One thing Rosie's does better than many other mexican restaurants is the in house freshly made tortillas. The tortillas are the main reason I go to eat here! Their chicken often seems to be pretty good and the quality is about average. Service 4/5: the staff is usually very attentive and friendly1 Atmosphere 3/5: it's your average mexican themed restaurant. Rosies is a very popular place to go for lunch during the work week and to grab dinner and drinks with friends on the weekends.

Meal was great, service was prob even better: I hope you get Christina, best waitress ever!

This place looks a little cheesy, but inside it's nice and the food is very good. A little pricier than your usual mom-and-pop authentic Mexican restaurants, but still reasonable. The food has a great Americanized twist, but it's not your typical tex-mex. It's food is of good quality and the service is good. I will go back for sure--it's a great place for a lunch date!

I have reviewed Rosie's before, but for some inexplicable reason a couple dozen of my reviews were expunged into a dark abyss never to be heard from again. YELP tried to recover them and cited a long absence as a possibility? 9 months? We ate at Rosie's this weekend and the one thing I always come back to with this place is its authenticity in a state where finding authentic Mexican food is a challenge. I lived in New Mexico for a decade and have traveled the West extensively so I can attest to good Mexican food. Many of the Mexican restaurants in N. Alabama serve white cheese dip and trust me when I say, it is not served in authentic Mexican restaurants. Rosie's would be have formidable competition in Albuquerque, Phoenix, Los Angeles, but in Huntsville it is the place to go when we want Mexican. Why? Homemade tortillas! Good margaritas! Good salsa! Good enchilada sauce and they know how to make a good chile relleno. We have never had a bad meal at Rosie's, but she gets 4 stars because some portions are small for what they charge. All and all, Rosie's won't disappoint.

Huge crowded restaurant that did its best to accommodate our large group of players and parents. Our reservation didn't mean a lot as we still had to wait 45 minutes. Once seated it took much too long to be served our drinks. However they seemed to catch up and the wait for food was reasonable. Food was actually good for a restaurant this size and price. I would go again. Maybe not on a Saturday night.

My rice was overly dry and the salsa I found far too sweet. I was only able to eat it after a generous seasoning with hot sauce and salt. My service was a bit slow, but it looked like I came in just after the dinner rush. Prices were a bit higher than I am used to seeing at this class of restaurant, but not outrageous. My plate was three enchiladas with rice/beans for $12. I would normally get a similar plate at my favorite Mexican place for about $7.

Pro's - Fast service, tasteful! Con's - pricey, small portion --------------------------------- On travel & visited Rosie's for lunch. No issues finding parking or seating & our waiter Brett was excellent. I ordered the Maui Maui fish tacos & I had them on the table within 10 minutes. The menu item was $8.99 & the portion was one fish taco, about the size of my fist. Although quite good, it wasn't filling at all. The two sides - rice & bean soup - didn't help matters either. Overall, I'd order something else if I were to visit here again.

Perfect as usual. Chicken burrito was full of chicken and delicious. Vegetarian quessadia was delicious as usual. Lots of chips and salsa along with white queso.

While away for work, we decided to go here for a meal. We had a huge party, like 17 and they seated us very quickly. The waitress had her hands full with our table due to the size and jokesters, but she was a champ and took great care of us. I had steak fajitas and they were very good. The chips and salsa were also really good. I would absolutely go back.

  • Victor P.

The food was mediocre at best. Very bland. I had chicken and shrimp fajitas. Only the rice and refried beans had flavor. I was in a large group which made reservations. They rushed us through like an assembly line.

This place is awesome! If you want fresh hot Mexican food come here my favorite Mexican restaurant period! The adult beverages are always good. Tortillas are made fresh and you can taste that!!

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in town. I always go for the chipotle salmon. I never thought I would crave salmon, but their raspberry chipotle salmon is probably one of my favorite foods!!!! They are also only one of a small handful of places in town that have salmon that tastes fresh and not even a hint of fishiness. Chips and queso are good. Service can be horrible unfortunately, but ask for Kathy and you can't go wrong . She is the Best waitress there!!!!

Service was excellent. Our server was Danny. He was GREAT. The food was BLAND BLAND BLAND. My wife enjoyed the natural tasting food. She enjoyed the salt free (flavorless) food. The food was a bit expensive. We will not be back...

This is very good. Great service and good food. A little pricy. They got one of my orders wrong, but the manager gave me my food very quickly. The waitress staff is attentive. Bathrooms where clean. I recommend this place

Order queso blanco! Amazing! Also love their spicy salsa and better-than-most guac. Their cheese enchiladas are among the cheesiest and best I've had. And finally, my go-to dish is the shrimp fajitas. Simply fantastic and the mexican butter on the side is delicious, spicy, tongue-pleasing stuff.

  • Patrick T.

Service was great, food NOT! I should've gotten up when the salsa tasted like it came out of a bottle. I was assured it was made there fresh. I had a chicken soft taco with dried out meat, a cheese enchilada that tasted like velveeta or American cheese(no sauce). It"a horrible to say the rice and beans were the best thing on the plate. Two stars because of service and environment.

  • Wendy L.

Hands down this is the best Mexican food in the Huntsville area. The salsa is delicious, chips and tortillas are fresh, and the service is great. The wait can be pretty long if you come at peak times. I love the chicken enchiladas, southwest salad with house dressing, fajitas, and any of their cheese dips. These are just a few of my favorites. I really don't think you can go wrong with anything here.

Great atmosphere with a huge menu of inexpensive somewhat authentic Mexican food makes this a winner. Reasonably food allergy friendly and great service.

Loved the ambience. Very nice looking. Interestingly, the food was served too fast. We arrived at 8pm and ordered water. Chips and water were right there, which was nice. We'd never been there before, so we ordered margaritas while we looked at the menu. The server put in our drink order and came back to take our food order. Our drinks arrived, and before we could even enjoy our margaritas the food was at the table. I had only had one sip of my drink and my husband hadn't had any. We ate our food while it was hot, still hadn't had our drinks. Our check was at the table before 8:30. I'm not from around here, but when I go out on a date night I'm not expecting to be rushed through a meal and out in 30 minutes. The server was nice enough, but oblivious to the fact that we were feeling rushed out. Note to management, good service doesn't mean rushing patrons. BTW, food was fine. Did NOT like the butter sauce served with the fajitas. I'd actually eat there again, but would not put in my food order until is enjoyed my drink a bit.

The restaurant is beautiful and the atmosphere is super fun. The food I'd give 3 1/2 stars. Now lets talk about the service.... They have both mahi mahi fish tacos on the menu and a salmon plate - each is $14.95. I am allergic to mahi mahi so I asked the waiter (who never mind this serious problem, was friendly enough but largely absent during our meal) if they could make the fish tacos w salmon instead. He checked in the back and said there would be a "small up-charge." Ok, no problem. Food comes, I couldn't have eaten that much salmon in 3 sittings. I think, "We'll, this is my first time here, I suppose the portions are generous..." The ticket comes and they've up charged $8 for the salmon tacos!!! Without telling us!!! I was infuriated. We asked for the manager who keeps saying over and over that he charged us so much bc he gave me a full pound of wild caught salmon. I am I petite female under 5'1". I kept asking him, "Look at me; do I look like I would order a POUND of salmon?!" After quite a lengthy conversation w the manager - who at one point went to call the owner...wha???? - and the waiter again, they finally took the charge off completely. Pleased w the final outcome, but I lost 10 minutes of my life I will never get back to their stupidity. Bottom line: if you are ordering off-menu, BEWARE!

Oh, Rosie's... How far you've come. Expanding all over the place, and yet, your food isn't getting any better. In fact, it's not even staying the same. I was born and raised in Huntsville and have made Rosie's my go to Mexican restaurant. I love the ambiance, the food used to be superb, and the platinum margaritas are great. With this said, I no longer live in Huntsville but have been back a few times in the last year and Rosie's is the place I've gone to every time. The food just isn't as good as it used to be. The flavor seems to be lacking in every meal I used to adore. Maybe my taste buds are dying and therefore I can't taste like I used to...but their salsa still tastes the same as does the margaritas. So maybe taste buds aren't the problem. Maybe Rosie's is just getting comfortable with the success they've had and now have quit trying. Would I eat here again? Of course. It's home to me. But if it gets any worse I don't know how much longer I'll be saying that. In short, give this place a shot. It does have pretty decent food. It isn't the best anymore but it's still worth a trip.

Good at accommodating gluten allergies. The manager works with those with celiacs disease on a regular basis so was very helpful with deciding and overseeing my meal (she double checked my order to check my choices) Some things I learned from the manager (this isn't everything on the can/cannot list but it gives you an idea). 1) The chips are fried in the same oil as flour items but they will bake you fresh ones if you're concerned with cross contamination. 2) The peppers in the salsa are at risk for cross contamination. 3) Things you can't eat: rice, queso dip, queso sauce, tortilla soup, meat marinades (contains soy), hamburger Things you can eat: enchiladas with red sauce, sour cream sauce and the salads. Guacamole. Chicken breast and steak. I can handle cross contamination so I did ok with the chips. Was very impressed with how they handled my needs. On the negative side, it's a very loud restaurant and especially around the holidays. I was tempted to start a chip food fight with a table of inebriated women that were beside us. It wouldn't quiet them down but I'd have enjoyed their proximity more.

Great margarita's and great Mahi Mahi fish tacos. Grilled fish, fresh tortillas with lime. There are other condiments...but they are not needed.

Rosie's is our family hang out! We celebrate graduations, engagements and now the birth of our first grand baby there. The atmosphere is happy and upbeat. The place is always busy too, so plan on showing up earlier than you actually want to be seated as they do not take reservations or call ahead seating. They do seat you very efficiently though and usually not as long a wait as you are told at the door. Family favorites: Everyone loves the white queso dip. That is a go-to for every visit. Pop-Pop loves the Beef Enchiladas, tender beef with lots of sauce and cheese, and also the Texas Style Enchiladas. They are Cheese Enchiladas topped with Chile con Carne, fresh onions and melted cheese. Nonni likes the Southwestern Salad, the grilled chicken is tender and the avocado slices are always fresh, this tops a romaine and ice berg lettuce base.It comes with black bean corn salsa. She would eat the enchiladas but she is on a Paleo Diet and cannot have the tortillas. Everyone loves the Chicken Fajitas, there is plenty of food and we usually take a box home also. We have one member of our family who is vegetarian and they have a very good vegetarian menu. The food is always fresh, we have been eating here for at least 8 years and I can say I have never had a bad meal, never had to send a dish back. That is a pretty high goal to meet. The waiters are always pleasant and helpful. They go out of their way to make our experience great. If you are fortunate enough to visit when Virgil is working, ask to be seated in his area. He is a wonderful person.

Love, love, love Rosie's! Great food, generous portions, and great service. Very family friendly. Very popular local restaurant. You may have to wait a few minutes for a table because it is so good and extremely popular with the locals. Fajitas are great; have someone up share them with because they give you too much for only one person. Have never had anything there that wasn't good

Nothing special, typical TexMex place. Service is good. Not exactly "The Best in Town".

  • Channa P.

I'm not in love with the place, but the menu is vast, the margaritas are great and the restaurant is nice. I ordered the largest burrito ever, and I barely made it through half. It's worth going, but don't expect the best Mexican of your life.

  • Autumn S.

Standard Americanized- Mexican food in a bright friendly environment. I do like the salads they offer for lunch and if its cold outside, I'll sometimes throw calories to the wind and splurge on the Mexican Lasagna. It's enough to have leftovers for two additional nights and fix any cheese craving you may have for a month(I know, its not really a Mexican dish, but if you are looking for something authentic you'll probably need to leave the city of Huntsville). I'm not really a fan of their enchiladas and burritos, they never seem to be full of their required fillings and the tasteless rice and beans that accompany said items leave much to be desired.

Okay, I used to be one of the Rosies faithful. I hope the one on Memorial is still good, because this place was awful last Tuesday. I gave it a week and I'm still mad, so it must have been bad. I was there with a party of about 12 people. Those of you who are as outraged as I am at forced gratuity for large parties will already know where this is going. Our waiter was seen at most three times. Once before I got there to ask how many were coming and take initial drink orders. About fifteen minutes later as I arrived the drinks came. Twenty minutes and eleven drinks later, he appeared again for food orders and received drink orders as well. He assured us they were coming and we didn't see him again until he brought the checks. In the meantime, an actually helpful lady came to our aid and got our drinks for us, but there was not even so much as an apology from any side of this. The food was definitely not as good as it used to be. I ordered the tamales and was sorely disappointed. There was no good flavor at all. The refried beans were probably the highlight of the meal... wait, no, the complimentary chips and salsa were the highlight and the only reason I didn't leave hungry. Of course, with 35 minutes of waiting for food one can put away a lot of chips and salsa. Go if you have a small party and pray that the service and food is better then. Don't order tamales, and for Pete's sake keep your parties away. They will hide behind an automatic gratuity and they hide well.

I love Rosie's! I eat there at my lunch break every once in a while. Even though they get pretty busy they are really fast with seating and bringing out your food. I love their chicken enchiladas! The service is great and the servers check back often to make sure you are doing alright. I've been eating here for years and I'm yet to have a bad experience.

  • Jason E.

I'm a big fan of Rosie's. They make some delicious Mexican food, the best in the area, and there's not much more I can say than what has already been said, except of course for this great Rosie's story: I was having dinner here one night and sitting at the table behind me was...the mother from the show "Little People. Big World." That's right, kids. Rosie's has "celebrity" clientele, so you know it's legit.

    (4)
  • Rebecca B.

It is what it is - a Tex-Mex restaurant, food is ok, service is ok & decor/atmosphere ok...best in town, I doubt it! I must say the Tamales were very good tho!

    (3)
  • Eliza P.

I really like Rosie's. Their prices are slightly more than I like to pay for Mexican, but seriously people - their service is exceptional. The staff that has waited on me has always been friendly and fast. I like to order their chicken nachos - it's an appetizer, but the portion is definitely an entree/dinner size. I wouldn't order their white cheese dip though, we paid about $6 for it! Don't go here often, but we really enjoy when we do. I have to say when I go out to eat my biggest impression is the staff - professionalism and friendliness, and Rosie's definitely exceeds my expectations.

  • Dmitry K.

Good food and decent service. Not much to say other than its what you'd expect out of a Mexican place, which is a good thing. In hindsight, I should have gone with the medium taco dinner, not the large. Their tacos are huge compared to what you'd expect, so beware.

  • Randy S.

I like Mexican food, both north and south. I have passed this restaurant numerous times. This was my first visit with my significant other. I had the chicken fajitas with tortilla maize, and she had the loco mix - a beef enchilada, chicken soft taco and pork tamale -- the servings are very large, the flavors are unique to each component. The waitress was very pleasant. I will most definitely return. When I walked in I did think I was in the wrong place, it appears to be a converted Superior grill.

    (4)
  • Beth C.

The food is sub-par. You are paying for the atmosphere.

  • Bryan H.

First off, I am not from town and from Texas I was home sick for some Tex-mex. This is not the place for that. Like some one said on yelp, it is what it is. I hated the sweet tasting salsa. Over all, I found the food trying to hard to be southwestern in flavors not tex-mex. I guess I'll remain home sick

    (2)
  • Vanessa M.

Mediocre Mexican food- left with full bellies but some of the foods were different than expected. The veggie fajita tastes like Chinese veggies, the orange queso tastes like butter, the fish tacos are just a piece of fish on a tortilla with some odd pickles vegetables on the side. The beef tacos had a lot of extra veggies mixed in that one kid wouldn't eat.

    (2)
  • Brooke D.

Mmm. I have a great fondness for Rosie's. I used to eat here every Friday for lunch and share the steak fajitas with a friend. The service is excellent even when they are packed to the gills, and I never had a problem getting in and out in under an hour (we actually had a few times where it was only 30 MINUTES!). They have a fantastic top shelf margarita so I have no idea about anything else at the bar. The only downfall here is that there is no outdoor seating. There's a large patio but it seems to just be for hanging out. It's a shame because I love to sit outside and eat on a nice day. If they remedy that I'll give them 5 stars.

    (4)
  • Paul R.

Friendly service and reliable food & drinks. Don't go expecting authentic Mexican food but the quality is good enough to keep people coming back. I sat at the bar with an old friend and caught up on old times. The staff never rushed us and we were treated very well. Even though the place was closing they never tried to edge us out.

    (4)
  • Peter M.

Good Mexican food, authentic too with a touch of tex-mex. The burritos and the soft tacos are very good (had both) - although I think they could drop the queso cheese sauce from the burrito, or put it on the side (still tastey - just makes it overly rich for me.) From coming in with a friend on an off night, we were seated in all of 30 seconds from when we entered the door. Wait staff was good, although a little hard to get through specific things that were not on the menu. Beers are good and cold - and they have a nice selection to choose from. Seating area is nice, albeit the tables and seats could really use an upgrade from the local restaurant warehouse offerings. Bottom Line: Good Mexican food. Huge step up from Chili's or TGIF. Bring an appetite, because the portions are large.

Being married to a Mexican we truly appreciate a good Mexican restaurant when we visit one. We've been living out of our suitcases for the last 45 days so we we're craving authentic Mexican badly. After arriving Rosie's we were immediately seated and had our drinks within a few minutes of being seated. The atmosphere was very welcoming and waitress very friendly. We looked over the menu and noticed that this was primarily Tex-Mex menu. My wife ordered the El Grande Platter and I ordered the burrito lunch special. The food was pretty good overall but we we're very disappointed that there wasn't tongue or cheek (AKA Barbacoa) even Menudo (Mexican Tripe Soup). We will continue to search Huntsville for authentic Mexican food but in the meantime Rosie's for what they offered was pretty good but we wish they had a little more variety in terms of authentic(easy on the cheese). If you want a good environment, good Tex-Mex menu and great service I highly recommend Rosie's.

I hereby confess: I don't like Mexican food. But I always find myself at a Mexican restaurant because everyone I know including my husband loves Mexican! So over the years I've found the things I like, fajitas and quesadillas. They are my Mexican food staples. But I was so impressed by this restaurant! The place is huge and very festively decorated without being tacky. The chip were ok, but my steak fajita was amazing, real flour tortillas, not the kind I can pick up in the grocery store, real tortillas! The veggies were freshly cut and cooked and the cheese, freshly shredded, what an amazing dish. Hubby and i got the steak fajita for two and were so stuffed that we couldn't even think about getting the fried ice cream we were eyeing for dessert. The service was pretty good. Pretty sure that if I lived in Huntsville this is where I'd spend Cinco de Mayo, because it looks like it would be tons of fun here!

  • Patrick M.

I have always like Rosies from the first time I stepped into their place. There is something about how they make their food that makes it so savory that you have to come back. I am a big guacamole freak as well and they have a guacamole salad.... just be sure to order it without their dressing... I mean REALLY ... who would pour dressing on guacamole! It's a subtle flavor as it is. My favorite dishes are the Burrito, the guacamole salad and I even like their super taco. The only thing I don't care for is seafood Mexican food. That's just wrong IMO.

  • Jay J.

Probably the best Mexican food in Huntsville. Rosie's was started by the same person who started Steak-Out (a steak delivery franchise). The food is always consistent. Great drinks and atmosphere. Fresh, homemade tortillas that you can watch being made from the dining area. Definitely worth a visit.

  • Zee M.

The point here is atmosphere. The food is more Southwestern than even Tex-Mex; people who rate it "Best Mexican" probably also rate French fries as the best French dish and Olive Garden as "Most Authentic Italian." Nevertheless, it is decent. But it's the meet-and-greet atmosphere, more than its menu (except for the Margarita), that is the reason people flock here. It's a lot of fun, and it's happenin.' And the food is good, for what it is, and reasonably priced. It is also waaaaaaay Americanized...not just a bit. But it's a party place, and that draws people back again and again. So go here to have fun, not real Mexican food. For the true experience, my Mexican friends recommend La Michoacana and the like, as well as some of the mobile-style units in town. That is where you find the Hispanic people eating. ...You won't see them at Taco Hell either, unless they're low on funds or really, really need a counter job.

Not sure why so many gravitate to this place. Perhaps they're like me and get dragged in by their conforming friends. I'll go for fellowship, and make sure I'm full before I leave the house. Not understanding why this place is popular. I just do not get it.

My expectations were heightened when I walked in and saw the decor. It is nicely decorated and very lively. We sat down and they brought out our chips and salsa, which were delicious. I ordered the cheese enchiladas, but the waiter heard chicken enchiladas, so needless to say I had to wait for them to correct my order. The manager brought them out to me, which was the right thing to do in this case. However, I wished I would have stayed with the chicken enchiladas, maybe they would have actually had some kind of flavor. The cheese enchiladas were bland...therefore, I feel they deserve an overall star rating of 2...

This is another restaurant that everyone will tell you to try in Huntsville. Skip it. The person below who stated: "people who rate it 'Best Mexican' probably also rate French fries as the best French dish and Olive Garden as 'Most Authentic Italian'" is spot on.

Why do people like this place so much? It's your basic Tex-Mex food and the food isn't that great. The quality of the ingredients needs improvement. The chicken and steak are fatty. I don't like their tortilla chips but I do like their salsa. The place stays busy even at 3:00 in the afternoon! Why?? I have no idea. The service is kind of slow and there is usually a wait to get a seat.

Huge restaurant, lots of food. Try the chicken tortilla soup, you will not be disappointed! Dragged a bunch of people there and they all loved it

Love love love Rosie's!!! Wonderful bartenders who fix a mean Mambo Taxi. Food is always fixed to perfection. One of my favorite places to go when in Hunts Patch.

The decor is entertaining, but this is the WORST Mexican food I've ever had. Pure gringo - nothing authentic about it. Phil Sandoval's across the street (same ownership) is marginally better. Go to Las Trojas for good food and great atmosphere.

I had the pollo fiesta, which was basically chicken with cheese, salsa, and guacamole on top. It was just okay, nothing impressive, not very spicy or flavorful. This isn't really Mexican food, more Tex-Mex/Americanized mexican, and I've had much better in both categories.

Your run of the mill Americanized Mexican fare restaurant. I had the enchiladas. They were ok but not great. The margaritas were pretty good but a little on the pricey side. We were a bit annoyed that they don't offer pitchers of beer or margaritas but that's not the reason for the 3 star rating. If you want Mexican you can come here but I'm sure there is better somewhere in Huntsville and more authentic too.

I can't believe ANYone would give this place anything but a 1-star. It has a very nice atmosphere, but the food is horrible -- and the salsa is BEYOND horrible (must be made in N.Y.C).

I've ended up eating at this particular Rosie's twice in the last week so I guess some cosmic entity desperately wants me to hurry up and Yelp it. The first time was Friday night. We got there about 6:45 and were told that there was a 45-60 minute wait. That was fairly accurate, but it was a *very* uncomfortable 45-60 minutes. The chairs that they had set up as a wait area were practically on top of each other. So, although it was nice to have a place to sit down, it would have been even nicer if I weren't almost sitting in the lap of the person next to me. Between the crowd and the super loud music it was very hard to hold a conversation. We mentioned it to our sever and the music was turned down almost instantly. I had the BBQ Chicken Nachos and a Mambo Taxi. Both were excellent. Today I went back for lunch. It was a later lunch (around 2:00 or so). There was no line, no waiting and the noise level was no problem. I tried the spinach con queso; it was pretty good although the spinach sunk to the bottom and there were large (unexpected) pieces of onion in it. Once I identified the pieces of onion I enjoyed it a lot more. I took advantage of one of their lunch specials (Combo 2, I think) It was a chicken taco, a chicken enchilada and rice and beans. The combo and the appetizer were waaaay too much food, but it was all tasty.

Rosie's has great food, great margaritas, great size, at great price! Some of my favorite dishes: 1. Taco salad 2. Fajitas 3. Quesadillas The only draw back is, almost every time I go, the waits were all at least 25 minutes. Fortunately, they do serve fast, and their chips & salsa is awesomely filling.

Okay. I'm half Mexican and I'm from California. Rosie's is not the most amazing or authentic Mexican restaurant I've ever been to, but that doesn't mean much coming from someone who's Mexican Grandmother cooked her authentic Mexican food for the first half of her life. However, Rosie's does have THE BEST fajitas, hands down, EVER. Also, the tortillas are made from scratch right before your eyes and have the ability to turn me into a kid again sitting at my Grandma's kitchen table. The margaritas are generous size and extremely delicious. Don't miss the Sangria, Mambo Taxi or Mango margaritas. Yes, you must plan ahead if you don't want to wait for 45 minutes, but the service is always friendly and fast. If you really want to splurge, get some queso to go with your chips. Pure indulgence.

This is the most overrated Mexican restaurant in town. If atmosphere is more important to you than the food (like it seems to be for most people in Huntsville) then, yeah, this is your place. But if you want good Mexican food, try any number of the Hispanic owned and operated places. They may feel like a hole in the wall, but the food is better and at a better price.

Rosie's has great Mexican food and awesome service. I've eaten here for lunch and dinner and the quality of the food and service are always very good.

This is the best Mexican food in Huntsville. Their price are very reasonable and the portions generous. The staff is always friendly and you won't find quicker service anywhere. Some people I have gone with have mentioned that they think the tables are too close together but personally I think they are fine.

4-1/2 out of 5 stars :-). Most of my friends and I agree that Rosie's Mexican Cantina is one of the best, if not the best, mexican restaurant in Huntsville. The food quality is excellent. Although a few people may knock it a little as being a bit more Americanized than some of the other mexican restaurants in town, the quality and service remains better than most if not all. I can honestly say that I've never had a bad meal at Rosie's. The decoration and ambiance is excellent, and there's generally a good vibe from the crowd. If the wait at Rosie's is too long for your taste at the University Drive location near Research Park Blvd, a great alternative is Phil Sandoval's Mexican Restaurante which is 100-200 yards east and on other side of University. Phil Sandoval's is very similar to Rosie's (I believe they may be affiliated) and indeed, Phil Sandoval's is actually located where the very first Rosie's Mexican Cantina used to be. :-)

These days, it seems like every city has too many Mexican restaurants. However, you can never have too many great Mexican restaurants. For the second time this week, I tried out what Huntsville has to offer in the way of Mexican fare. Rosie's did not disappoint on any level. I only give out five-star ratings when there is nothing left to chance. The building was newer and very clean, and the outdoor fountain and garden area (likely for waiting when they are very busy) was the type of environment you could just hang out and chill in for as long as necessary. It was beautiful! Our party was large (9), and our server, Miguel, did a wonderful job attending to everyone with courtesy and expediency. The chips and salsa were great, and the queso dipping sauce was also tasty with the right consistency. I had the Mahi Mahi tacos, which were prepared correctly with all the right fish taco toppings, including fresh cabbage slaw and a delicious tangy sauce. The sides served with them were black bean soup and cilantro rice. The rice was cooked just right, and the soup had a zippy beefy flavor that I didn't expect, but was pleasantly surprised. I loved every bit of my meal, and will definitely make it a priority to visit Rosie's again the next time I'm in Huntsville!

This tasted nothing like mexican food. Chips, salsa, tacos, all of it was off. Everyone in our group ordered different dishes and all were rather disappointed.

The salsa, guacamole, fajitas, cheese dip, and enchiladas were delicious, along with the margaritas!

if you want good traditional mexican food... go somewhere else (el olmeca or bandito burrito) good: decor, unsweet tea, service bad: everything else. ive been here twice. 1st time by choice since i hadnt been there before. i dont usually eat ground beef anything in mexican restaurants so i got a combo plate that had 2 chicken enchilladas and a chicken taco ($11). chicken was so runny the taco shell turned to goo n fell apart at the bottom. enchilladas were topped w cheese not enchillada sauce. chicken had alot of fat in it. beans have a smokey flavor that is terrible. rice is tasty but dry. salsa tasted like mild great value chuncky salsa. chips are thick (i prefer thin). today was my 2nd and last trip (farewell office lunch). cheapest lunch menu item is $9 (lunch fajitas are $14)! i tried to stay as basic as i could... 2 cheese enchillada combo.... disgusting. enchilladas filled w diced pepper/yellow cheese sauce and topped w melted cheddar cheese. i asked if they had traditional red enchillada sauce but she looked at me like i lost my mind... she gave me a bottle of hot sauce. they dont use any type of red enchillada sauce, only tomatillo or chili con carne. beans and rice were same as before. check menu prices online before you go. they are very expensive for mexican food. i was raised in so. cali and texas so i have high standards for mexican food. im willing to accept the way mexican food tastes in the south but i always hope for something better. there are a few places in huntsville that are above par. rosies is well below. i dont understand why ppl go here except that theyve never had really good mexican food before and since rosies tastes different than traditional southern mexican, they think its better.

My crazy chicken (Pollo Loco) tasted like Sysco with queso plastique; the dish also came out with more than the allowable stark white ceramic plate void of any comida for typical mexican platters. The salsa tasted like Sysco as well. The house margarita wasn't bad, but the waitress asked if I wanted sugar or salt on the rim - WHY is sugar even an option? Other than asking that question, customer service was good. No need to ever return. Redeemed this experience at Cantina Laredo the next night.

Great food, incredibly fast food preparation, and great service. Some of the best fajitas I have ever had!

Fun atmosphere is about all i can say for this place. Thought with the in-house made tortillas that it would be decent Mexican food. Not so much. Salsa from the jar, food lacking flavor. Service wasn't bad. I didn't expect to come to the south and have great Hispanic food, but I expected decent after all these yelp reviews. My husband makes his own salsa that does circles around what this cantina has to offer. The salsa says everything about a Mexican restaurant. This place needs to step up their game.

This is some solid Tex-Mex in a city sadly lacking good food. Extra points for the generous portions, salsa that's actually spicy, perfectly salted thin chips, and tasty charro beans. Anything covered in cheese sauce is going to be good here, so check out the burrito supremo, enchiladas or queso dip.

Whenever I'm visiting the Huntsville/Madison area I notice this place is always bustling, and now I know why. It's quick and delicious with such a festive, spacious atmosphere. It puts me in the mind of my favorite Mexican restaurants from home--Los Amigos and Monterrey's in upstate SC--with the super freshly made chips and salsa that immediately arrive at your table before you've removed your coat. We had a great server who remembered my sister and dad from a previous visit. In case you weren't aware my father is single-handedly producing his own one-man-showing of Grumpier Old Man who is not accustomed to eating anything outside of my mama's kitchen. Needless to say, Brandon's memory of my dad's "blase, blase" ratings of EVERYTHING were a hilarious, light touch to my first visit to Rosie's. Gosh do I love a good, smooth, creamy, well-seasoned queso blanco. Don't skip this. The combination of the queso, chips and a couple of Rosie's Margaritas is the greatest humpday trifecta you've yet to experience. I get the same thing at nearly every Mexican restaurant because despite my loquacious reviews, sometimes I am a delightfully simple person who just wants an El Uno--2 cheese enchiladas, 1 beef taco, 1 tamale, no beans and a double serving of rice. Andale in my bell-ay! I'm still thinking about Rosie's Margaritas. On the rocks. Super chilled glass. Light on the triple sec, muy generous with the Mexican tequila. I won't abhor you with any more of my Spanglish. Just go. Grub. Enjoy the bustling atmosphere and be prepared to get satisfied with kind, quick service that's light on your purse strings.

Walking up to Rosie's you already feel like you're on vacation. I love the atmosphere here. I've been to the Florence location once and this was my first time at this location. In Florence I had the Mahi-Mahi taco with black bean soup and cilantro rice. I highly recommend that dish. Their salsa is a little sweeter than I prefer but still good. I like their thin tortilla chips. This time I ordered the Pollo Santa Fe with charro beans (pinto bean soup) from the lunch menu. The chicken was smothered in toppings that included southwestern sauce, black bean corn salsa, tortilla strips, provolone & Monterey jack cheeses. You literally couldn't see the chicken beneath the toppings. I liked the flavor variety in each bite. The charro beans were good too but I much prefer the black bean soup.

This place is one of my favorites to come to when visiting Huntsville. I loved Mexican food and I love Rosie's. My favorite dishes are the mahi mahi fish tacos and the Mexican lasagna. So good... The staff is also great! You can't go wrong eating at Rosie's.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in my old home town. The atmosphere is beautiful, even if it can get a little noisy at times. The salsa is some of the best around. My favorite dish is the combination plate that comes with a cheese enchilada, a taco, and a tamale. Everything is very tasty - even the rice! You may have to wait for a little bit to get in if it's a crowded day, but the warm, savory food will more than make up for that.

I happen to love Rosie's. Their salsa and chips are always fresh and tasty. Delicious margaritas... I crave their Mambo Taxis! The spinach queso dip is amazing, and the fajitas are fantastic. Wish we had a Rosie's in Atlanta!

My boyfriend and I were visiting Huntsville trying to decide if we wanted to move here from charleston sc. Rosie's was the first restaurant we ate at during our visit. It was recommended to us by our realtor. It was amazing. The decor is colorful and fun the building is beautiful. The service was on point. Our server was funny, helpful and quick. He gave us suggestions and we got a queso dip w some type of meat in it. It was delicious. A bit spicy but I'm a big baby when it comes to spice. My bf pretty much thought about just drinking it. We both got different types of burritos. Both were fantastic! I had some leftover and it made a great late night snack. Rosie's made such a good impression on us we went back the next day for lunch. My boyfriend doesn't even like Mexican! And he picked Rosie's for lunch. Go here.

SOOOOO OVER RATED! This restaurant is one of the most popular in Huntsville. Everyone loves it, but I don't see anything that great about it to be honest. First you wait for 20 or 30 minutes outside. Then you finally get in and wait another 30 minutes for your food. The quesadilla I got was very small and I was still hungry afterwards, but the price was still high. Yeah the food isn't bad, it's actually good but what Mexican food isn't good! There are many restaurants as good as Rosie's and many better. I prefer Casa Blanca. It's my favorite Mexican restaurant in North Alabama. Any other Mexican restaurant in the whole country is almost always as good as Rosie's.

This is my favorite restaurant in Huntsville! As a native, I can say I've been here a hundred times or more, and the food never disappoints. You'll want to get the white cheese dip for sure, but don't fill up on it. I love the Rosiechangas!! The chicken are the best, and I swap out and get the white cheese dip on top! The rice is so good, the food is always hot and the service is great!!

Average Mexican restaurant. Service was slow. Food was not spectacular. Lunch menu is over priced. You will not be overwhelmed, but you will be full. Very loud so don't plan on an easy conversation.

Love Rosie's! Back in high school I ate Rosie's almost 2-3 times a week. When I say my family and I loved this place it was awesome, until me and 4 others caught food poising from here. I suffered pancreatitis from the food poising (salmonella) and had to stay at the hospital for 10 days. Yes I still scored this high bc before and after I got sick, the food is still good. Call me crazy but i do go occasionally. I don't go as much as I use to but I do go from time to time. I go to Phil's a lot now (same owners) .

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
