Everyone should find something to eat on the large menu. On Spring and Fall days, the outside dining is nice. I've always received good service from the wait staff, which makes this do-able for most people on the lunch hour. I like Dale's better than most area "meat and threes."

I was expecting more. More seasoning, more taste basically. The variety is long but I only found 1-2 things that caught my eye. I think I just wanted to go to Craker Barrel and that's where I should have gone. The service was decent and the portions were rather big for lunch specials.

Dale's combines great southern comfort food with easy on the pocket prices. Where do you go wrong here? My mom and I come here usually after church service and we are rarely disappointed. I love their extensive menu and how out of all the choices, I have yet to find a main dish I didn't like. I usually get a side of their fried green tomatoes no matter what my main dish is. Sometimes they are seasoned to my liking, sometimes I may need to add a little salt. Not a deal breaker though. I like the ambiance that Dale's gives off as well. It's a classy place without the upscale prices, which always wins in my book.

Visited this restaurant because it was my Moms Bday and for whatever reason, she liked it and wanted to go back. It was a Sunday after church so of course we dined with other church folks. Considering such, I give kudos to the hostess that sat us as the wait wasn't long. However, our waitress seemed a bit inexperienced or maybe she just couldn't handle a large group, which included toddlers (Lol). I read another review with mention of Piccadilly. In my opinion, this is far below that chain of restaurants. I ordered the four vegetable plate, which three came out. I waited about fifteen mins for the fourth. Sweet potatoes look to have come from a can. The broccoli rice and squash casserole were ok. The Jalapeno cornbread wasn't good. The country fried steak looks good but was crumbling apart when attempting to cut into it. I would settle for Piccadilly any day!

Great staff. Friendly service. Food was good would like to see a little bigger sides. But overall a good place to eat

A friend of mind recommended Dale's for lunch. I was thoroughly disappointed! I ordered the Calera Chicken as my main course. It was sooooo salty that it was unedible. I brought it to the attention to our waiter and he assured me that he would ask them to cook the chicken without seasoning. He brought another chicken out and it was worst! Needless to say, I had vegetable for lunch which was ok. No customer service, the manager didn't come out nor was our waiter apologetic. NEVER will I eat there again.

Interesting place. I had really wanted to like it, but it was an epic fail. Service was fine, but only 10 people in the restaurant. The chicken fried chicken was bland and the roasted potatoes were hard and under cooked. I should have gone to 5 Guys.

I still recommend this place to Hoover natives who call me and ask for the sort of recommendations like, "It's 2pm and I want a grilled pork chop! Where do I go??" Note: I don't get calls like this very often. However, I have gotten one, and I sent them here. Any others I get? Yeah, they're getting pointed here, too. Good size portions, Turnip greens just like I had as a kid and their pork chop lunch special is made with fairy dust. Also, I don't know if Curtis is still here, but he's the man. Just ask him; he'll tell you.

Great choices and good service. Watch out for the fried chicken breast. Everyone ordered it at our table. Each order was raw in the center. Sent it back. Our chicken breasts were thrown back in the fryer. Yes that is correct. The chicken was thrown back in the fryer. The waitress was very apologetic and the manager on duty didn't seem the least bit concerned.

I have nothing but unpleasant service when making to go orders. I walk in to place an order and wait 10 minutes before I'm acknowledged. I finally got fed up and spoke to a manager and he gave off the impression that I was wasting his time. So don't waste yours.

On a recommendation we decided to try this place for lunch to get our Southern food fix. The service was prompt and friendly, but the food left a little bit to be desired. It was authentic enough, and it mostly hit the spot but it was just a little on the boring side in terms of flavor. There are much better places in town to get your Southern food fix, but this place is cheap and low hassle if that's what you're looking for.

This was our family's first trip to Dales. The restaurant is well decorated and was crowded, but there is surprising amounts of seating. The wait staff was competent and was happy to make recommendations. For a meat and two style restaurant, the choice of sides is almost overwhelming. We are a family of 6 so we were able to try many things on the menu and none disappointed. My wife and I had fish, her the almond tilapia and me the blackened grouper. Both were very large portions and well prepared. In fact the portions are large for everyone at dinner time. One son had a rib-eye and another had ribs and both of them were very happy with their selection. Everyone said that they would love to come back soon.

Went here for a company lunch. Our water had dead cock roaches in it. The waitress said they had sprayed the night before so it was a pesticide filled water with dead cock roaches in it. Needless to say it was hard to even swallow the bland meal after that info. Luckly they comped the water off our bill. Wont be back but make for a hilarously disterbing story to share with the others at the office.

First time here and really enjoyed it. We were on our way back to Birmingham from a hike at Oak Mountain and spotted it, so we popped in. Menu has a wide variety of southern food. We enjoyed everything we ate. The raisin bran muffins were an excellent treat. Save room for dessert! Also, they offer a cooler full of take-home goodies!

I went there with my daughter and will never return. Food was fine but manager was rude beyond belief.

Broccoli salad was good but the "grouper" looked like tilapia that had been frozen. The turnip greens came out of a can. Banana pudding was an artificial mix. It is edible but if you want freshly prepared country food, there are much better places. The waiter was very nice and the staff was friendly.

On of my favorite spots for some good southern food. You can't go wrong with dales. The food is on point.

Very good southern cuisine. There is a carrot soufflé that is almost like dessert, very good. The squash casserole is ALMOST as good as the one I cook at home. Mine is pretty hard to beat.

The broccoli salad is phenomenal. They are slow but the service could be better. I did expect more but it was tasty and enjoyable!

We showed up late in evening while traveling through town. (13 total in our party) It was 40 min till closing but they were empty and the one person on duty (Sat, July 13) did a great job! Food dishes were flavorful - we came for catfish, shrimp/grits and greens.

Cold and nasty! Ordered two different meats and each ordered two different veggies and all was bland and cold. The pot roast looked like it was poured straight from a can and the hamburger steak was obviously pre-made! Meat -veggies- and bread all COLD and BAD! Save your money Cracker Barrel is more country cooking than this is
