High Cholesterol at Applebee's

I went by for a lunch meeting today and was pleasantly surprised. Parking is ample, so there's one less thing. The hostess and waitress quickly took care of me and were very polite in the process. There was plenty of seating outside, but I opted for a booth since I didn't know my company's preference. The menu is pretty extensive and covers all your bar food needs. I went with their signature grilled chicken salad. It was plenty of food and pretty dang good. They didn't skimp on the chicken, which was nice. They also had a ton of TVs. I'd say this is a safe bet for a good place to have a beer, eat some bar food, and watch a game.

I'm finding the restaurant choices in my area to be somewhat of a disappointment so was happy to see that Beef O'Brady's was actually really good. My husband had to order the pretzel app. I refrained but did try a bite in the interest of this review. Greasy and too salty. The cheese dip was very spicy. I liked it, he didn't but he seemed to enjoy the pretzels well enough. I ordered the veggie bowl because I'm on a diet and I figured that was a good option. I expected it to be decent, nothing amazing but it was much better than expected. It was cooked perfectly and packed with a lot of flavor. I would definitely get this again --diet or not. My husband got the Watterson which he really enjoyed and said he would get again. The kid got a cheeseburger. She enjoyed here's as well. Overall, a really good meal. There's a bar here if you want to just come in for drinks. Also, there's an outdoor seating area that is really nice and I have driven by at night and it seems like people are out there enjoying themselves. Go check it out!

Sports bar with pretty good bar food. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but packs in a handful of booths, high tables, low tables, bar stools and patio seat (although overlooking a parking lot doesn't scream good seating to me, lol). For a Monday night, it packed in quite a crowd. There are plenty of TV's showing sports games and top 100 music quietly played in the background. The menu had way more options than I would have thought - apps, sandwiches, wraps, salads, entrees (including fish specials), etc... Full bar, including several beers on drafts. Monday nights include $2 domestic drafts and $3 specialty drafts. We started with the pretzel app - it comes with queso but our waitress included honey mustard also because she liked it that way better. The queso had a weird texture so I totally appreciated her recommendation of the honey mustard. The queso tasted fine, but the honey mustard was a better dipping sauce for the pretzels. The pretzels themselves were light and fluffy, but didn't have a ton of flavor. It was Monday night so the evening food special was $5.95 burgers with fries. We both opted for that. I thought the burger was a little greasy but overall it was well prepared and had good flavor. Our waitress/bartender was pleasant and the service was brisk, but certainly not rushed. This is a great spot if you are wanting some good bar food, a cold beer and to catch a game on the TV with other fans!

For your average chain this one follows suit, the food was hot and fresh. I will how ever warn you about their new pretzel appetizer. It is extremely buttery and salty. Not an appetizer that i will be getting there in the future. I will say the angry orchard on tap was nice and cold. I can see why this place is a local hangout on a Friday or Saturday.

We love this place, especially The live music on Saturdays. Food is good. Some is bar food, but they also have stuff like tilapia and salad. Their chips and salsa is also amazing.

Beefs rocks!!! I had such a wonderful time here watching a football game with local friends. The food was great, and honestly better than what I expect of most bar food. The staff was super friendly, and really accommodating. I also actually really enjoyed the other customers that were there. The bar was fun, and fully stocked with some local beers I had never tried, while still being an environment where my friend's kids could hangout in the arcade down the hall. I also got to meet George, the owner, and he was such a treat. So pleasant, and you could tell he really develops relationships with his customers. I cannot wait to be back in sweet home Alabama and to visit Beef's at the Grove!!

Meh...This was my second time eating here and still not impressed. On my first visit I had the Philly and the meat tasted like it came in frozen like Steak-Umms as did the fries. This time I had the chicken tacos and they were only slightly better. The queso was clumpy like what you get at a ball park. The only "Irish" item I sae on the menu was the Reuben. This is not a place I would go for drinks since it's family friendly and there are kids running around. Not sure what all the hype is for. Just a mediocre place.

Well there are sometimes I'm just in the mood for some good old bar food. I've never been to this restaurant before so this is my first experience and also first impression. I always pass by the restaurant during my travels and always say to myself one day I'm going to stop there and see what it's all about. Well today was that day first thing I like about the area that it's in a huge huge parking lot with several retail department stores so obviously there's a lot of parking for a trucker or a big convoy of travelers. I wasn't really expecting the greatest or even a wonderful experience it's just barfood right. But one of the things that caught my eyes from the menu was there award-winning wings. Now any restaurant that has the balls to put that on their menu that has to be something there so I said what the heck let's try their wings. I ordered eight spicy garlic and I have to admit they were cooked perfect and the sauce was not too tangy...... they were on point. But I think I'll have to come a few more times and try different flavors before I give it the stamp of award winning. But then my waitress asked me "do I have room for dessert". I quickly replied and said what do you have? She said OMG you have to try the funnel cake fries. I pause for about two seconds because I'm never heard of such a thing, yes I'm aware a funnel cake but not fries. Then she quickly mention, my boyfriend says they are like crack and I replied well then give me some crack. Haha! (Jokes) .... Folks let me tell you these funnel cake fries were off the hook delicious, they come out hot with a light coating of powdered sugar also serve with two dipping sauces one chocolate and one caramel. From my first bite I thought to myself I'm about to have a fat kid moment and order another basket, but don't let the first basket fool you they are quite filling. If you like sweet treats I definitely recommend the funnel cake fries... Oh yeah and their buffalo wings are not bad. Lol I recommend this restaurant if you're just in the mood for some good ole bar food maybe a cold beer and a game on the television. A good place for the fellas to meet up or just a good casual date night. Enjoy! Happy Eating Folks! - BigCat

We'd only go to this restaurant if we wanted Mexican but forgot it was Cinco de Mayo...oh, wait. Yep, that's what happened and we didn't want to drive around looking for another restaurant. We were here once before and the food was mediocre and the service average. Some things never change. Was greeted by a cheerful lady who sat us at a table. And we sat for 10 mins. before being acknowledged by a not very friendly waitress. Husband liked his burger and kid liked his. My fish and fries were edible. And if Tuesday is no longer kids Eat Free Night, please stop advertising it. Bad for business. Will never be back to this place.

Sports bar with above average food. Really large menu with lots of great choices. Outdoor patio seating. Kid friendly. Live music most evenings. I've always had really good service here.

We were looking for a place to watch the hockey games, the manager ordered a months worth of free pay per view for us , just so that we could come up here to watch hockey. It was only the second time we'd ever visited the restaurant so not being regular this place is awesome at catering to their guests. I LOVE the steak burrito! Get it with the chipotle mayonnaise. Also we love Megan the bartender she rocks.

Love the location and they have pretty good beer selections. My wife and I come here because it is close to home. Enjoy the sports bar vibe

Basic bar food. Nothing fancy and the prices are good. The buffalo chicken sandwich is better than the buffalo chicken wrap and the curly fries are better than the straight fries. Tuesday nights kids eat free. Gets crowded quick. They do have outdoor seating as well.

I'm giving this place four stars for the whole experience. The food selection is very good for a sports bar/pub and the beer selection is impressive for a smaller venue. The food quality ranges from average to above average. The service has always been friendly and attentive. They are surprisingly kid friendly and have kids-eat-free nights with kid-friendly entertainment on those nights. Parking is never an issue. The outdoor seating experience could be improved and made more permanent (and safe) rather than taking over former parking spots but that's a minor issue. This is a great find in Hoover West.

The food was excellent. Unfortunately, the service did not match. We were seated for 15-20 minutes before our waiter even came over to ask us if we wanted anything to drink. I ordered a glass of Hoover, AL, and it took another 15 minutes to arrive after I finally ordered it. Once I finished the first glass of wine, my glass sat empty for 30 minutes before I finally asked one of the servers to have another glass of wine sent over to me. When they did fill my glass, it was not the same wine. It was a Cabernet?!?! That was absolutely baffling. However, I didn't bother asking for the correct wine, because I already had my dinner in front of me, and I knew it would take them 20 minutes to bring me another glass of wine. Great food though

I love this place! It's a great place to watch the game (any game!). The food is awesome, and there are plenty of choices. The service is consistently good. Very friendly wait and bar staff. It's a must whenever I am in the Birmingham area.

My wife and I have the same opinion - the food is mediocre at best but the staff is great & it's a great atmosphere. We always have a good time. I just with the food was better. Honestly it's 3 1/2 stars

Awful place to eat! Both my children had the Mac and Cheese kids meal and within 4 hours after eating it threw up periodically for the next 24 hours. They need to make sure the ingredients are fresh and not expired!

George and team do a great job. Food is always good and people are friendly

My middle school tennis team met here for a post-tournament meal, and I was very pleased with the experience. The staff was very helpful and friendly and made sure that our visit was smooth and enjoyable (not an easy task with a large group of tennis-tired middle-schoolers. I had "the" steak burrito (with fries) and thought it was very good.

I have only had lunch here. The prices are good for the amount of food you get. Plenty of choices!

  • Stan S.

Food was pretty average for pub fare. Atmosphere was fun but the service was lacking. We didn't see our waitress until about 15 minutes after we were seated, then took another 10 minutes to actually get our drinks. Food was OK once we finally got it, but nothing special. You could do worse but we won't be back. I'd go elsewhere.

I love this place, yes the drink prices are a little high but the atmosphere, food and music are great.
