I ate lunch here in July with my son and my parents. My mother and I ordered vegetable plates. I had macaroni and cheese which was very fresh and creamy, coleslaw which was fresh and tasted great (not overly seasoned or too much mayonaise), and fried okra. My mother had the fried okra, squash casserole, and green beans. She said they were all excellent. My son and father ordered chicken fingers and loved them. We also ordered fried green tomatoes to share. We were told in the line that the ones they had already cooked and were showing were a little old and they would cook us some fresh fried green tomatoes and bring them to our table. They did - just a few minutes later. The fried green tomatoes were not greasy, lightly breaded, and tasted great! We were all pleased with our food and were also pleased that we received generous portions. We also shopped at the market side. The produce looked really great. We bought some Chilton County peaches and some bananas. The other produce was very nicely priced when you consider what we usually pay at a grocery store. They had giant size bell peppers, mini cucumbers 3/$1.00, really large and fresh tomatoes. We will definately go back again and again.

This is a review for the Restaurant, not the market. You walk into Frankie's and you go though a line to order, just like a school cafeteria. I am a catfish fan so the sign in the front that said how great the catfish was made me order it. Its nothing great about the catfish. I think there is more fried batter than catfish! Next, I got my sides. I got Mac & Cheese and Fried Green Tomatoes. The Mac & Cheese tasted like it was from a hospital and the fried Green Tomatoes had no flavor. The staff at Frankie's is Super nice and the owner is there all the time. It doesn't cost that much money either. The market looks nice although I did not buy anything from it.

Its a nice hometown market with an offering of hot southern food. They have daily menu choices and a nice salad bar. Good place to stop in on a weekend to have a good lunch!

This review is for the produce section, not the restaurant area. This isn't a grocery store, it's a little market.. so it doesn't have the biggest selection of fruits and vegetables. But what they did have looked really good. They had tons of tomatoes and peaches. The tomatoes looked awesome. They were the reddest plumpest looking tomatoes I have seen all summer. The peaches also looked nice and they smelled really sweet. I am a fan of can peaches. I don't like the work that comes with peeling the fuzzy. But I couldn't help but buy a small basket. I think there were about 7 peaches, and it only cost 3 bucks. They had some really good looking eggplants too, and only 99 cents per pound. That my friends is a steal. I was expecting a little more variety, but whatevs. I guess when it gets closer to winter I will stop by and see if they have any wintery veggies. The staff was friendly, and the prices were good. I wouldn't make it a point to come here, because it is really out of my way.. but I didn't leave disappointed.

Went there with my 9 year old son on Sunday 7/28/13 - We bought 3 Meat with 2 veggies. (chicken fingers and Mac and Cheese plates) When we rang it up with no drinks it was over $30 so I mentioned that it seemed a little high. The Owners wife who was running the register told us they normally charge 30% less other days but I Sunday they offer more items. I said "so because your menu is larger on Sunday the prices go up??" She went off and said I must not work for a living, that they had to pay employees to come in and work on Sunday etc. etc... long list and then told me I needed to go somewhere else to eat. I told her she was rude and walked out. The owner came up to my truck as my son and I were pulling out yelling cuss words in front of my son, telling me not to call his wife rude. I had no right. (again) I probably didn't even work - ??? - RUDE RUDE RUDE I will never be back for $10 meat and 2 vegies anyway. Not worth it especially to be treated so poorly. We got home and had extra small portions also. 3 bites of vegies and they were gone. Bad place. Avoid at all cost!

"Finest Southern Food" is a tall order and you've already set the bar up to fail. Frankie's looked to be a cute little place that advertised finest southern foods and produce. When I pulled up they said "fresh vine ripened tomatoes" which sort of perplexed me because I don't know anyone that can grow tomatoes around these parts during this wintery season... I walked in, it's a little confusing where to order your food, once I figured it out...I quickly realized this was "any southern grease pit" as it had fried catfish with extra batter, some meat things wrapped in bacon and their vegetables were mac-n-cheese and fresh greens drizzled in an buttery like water. And of course, your choice of cornbread or a biscuit. When I sat down I looked up at the TV which predictably had Fox News playing. So I got to eat my double battered fried catfish with a healthy dosage that Obama was Hitler and Palin was Jesus' secret baby. USA! I went over to the produce section. They had a lot of seasonal stuff but the tomatoes still perplexed me. To boast a little southern store with homegrown produce and then have food that probably came 1500 miles away was kind of a downer. The staff was friendly, the prices were okay but it just had no "wow" factor and I could have gone all day without seeing Rupert Murdoch's media machine spitting out "Oceana has always been at war with Eastasia." (Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of CNN either...I think both put a damper on food when trying to eat). I would love to have been a patron of this place hoping for a great organic selection of southern foods, helping the local community...but there just didn't seem to be much "local" about it.

The owners and all the staff are friendly. They're wonderful Christian people. When I'm home in Helena, I enjoy eating at Frankie's because many of the locals eat there, especially after church on Sunday. The food is simple, not fancy.
