I Love Crawmamas! When you cant make it to the beach...the beach comes to you. I swear the oysters and gulf shrimp are better here than at the gulf...and its in your own backyard Guntersville! You get what you pay for...

I heard this was a good place to eat so I decided to treat myself when I heard my favorite blues band was playing there. I told the host I was there to see the band but had to ask twice to be seated where I could see the band. I don't care for fried food or shrimp. Unfortunately there was not much else on the menu. The service was nonexistent. The food tasted like a frozen microwaved meal and I had to deal with cigarette smoke from the occupied tables around me. When I paid my check I was asked how everything was. I responded with a sigh that it was "OK". The man behind the counter said nothing, like he was used to hearing that. The band was great but the mediocre food, lousy service and cigarette smoke mean I will not return anytime soon.

I had heard a lot of good things about this place but it turned out to be a disappointment. The food was average and I would give the service a D-. There is no air conditioning and in July in Alabama it was unbearable. The price was ridiculous for the quality of the food. Over all I would avoid this place and go around the corner to Top of the river.

Crawmama's staff was friendly, but overall the service was only adequate. Dining room is more like a sheltered outdoor picnic area in the former parking lot. The food was fair to average, but overpriced for the quality. Portions are large, but my food was barely warm as it was being held back while the rest of the table's food was being re-cooked. At least that is what they said when they finally brought it to the table. Service and food preparation was quite slow. There was live music and a large casual crowd. The worst thing for me was the thick cigarette smoke. I definitely will not go back. If it is good food you want, then you can get much better quality food for much less money at other local restaurants.

This was our second visit to the restaurant, the first was close to a year ago, and from what I remember about the place, the food this time around, had declined. The first time we visited this place, I raved and told many people about it, yes the food is expensive here but you got a decent amount and the shrimp were unbelievable large, actually the largest shrimp I've ever had, anywhere.. The service was decent and everything went well.. But on this visit (Yesterday, June 8, 2013) everything had changed.. First off our bill was $65 after tip, we started with the alligator tail appetizer, and ended with two pick your own seafood choices with two choices each, which cost 20.00 each. Between us we had the coconut shrimp, crab cakes, fried shrimp and crab claws. The coconut shrimp was overcooked on the outside and the inside was still mushy, I guess they flash fried it, the crab cakes were overly strong with a celery taste and the crab claws were overcooked and the meat would barely come off of the claw, to the point they were almost impossible to eat. And the curly fries that we had, my girlfriend described them as having a plastic taste, mine didn't taste that good either.. They did taste odd.. Our server forgot about us, and after finishing eating we waited for a long time to get our check, and finally decided to just get up and head to the cash register where they couldn't even find our check. We told them what table and what server we had and that still caused problems. A good 5-10 minutes passed and we finally got the check and paid. During the meal we were only checked on twice and our food was even brought out by another server, not our own. All in all, for the price of this place to the quality of the meal and service, I don't plan on returning after this visit. As I Said Before, the first visit we had here went great, food was great, service was great.. and if yesterday's visit had been like that then I wouldn't have a problem going back.. but it wasn't.

Divey but neat. Food was a bit pricey with mediocre service and just okay food. Had live music and not open all the time so check first. Would I return? Not really - once was enough.

Mediocre, overpriced food in a questionable setting. $18 for a piece of grouper not even as large as my hand, with a three-inch ear of corn that dwarfed a boiled potato, and two quarter-sized hush puppies, in a smoke-filled "outdoor dining room" on what used to be a parking lot. However, I can say the Luzianne iced tea was good.

Get the Talapia grilled or blackened. Fried aint that great. $2 cold draft beer.
