We had a very nice breakfast on an early Sunday morning. It was obvious it is a restaurant where local residents eat. Everyone who worked there was very friendly. They encourage payment in cash because of the fees they pay the credit card companies...there are plenty of chain restaurants who welcome your credit card business for those who have a problem paying cash. I enjoy supporting small businesses. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Fairhope.

Second day in a row we had breakfast. This restaurant is convenient, quaint and clean. Having a 5 year old means food has to be quick. Both dats they did not fail. Both kids loved the pancakes and we loved everything we had. It's not common to make the breakfast basics exceptional, but they find a way to make it happen. Great service was just as great as the food.

This is a good place to go if you want a simple breakfast that you could make at home. If you want something with frills or is unique, there are other places around Fairhope that I'd recommend over Julwin's. Julwin's is a Fairhope institution and is the oldest restaurant in the town. With that said, it's worth stopping in for. My fiance is from Fairhope, and said we needed to check this off my list. I had the French toast platter, and my fiance got pancakes. Both were good, and we learned on the way out they use real maple syrup, not that fake high frustose corn syrup "pancake syrup". Everything was made well, and the bacon was good! Service was great, and the restaurant was clean. I just can't justify more than 3 stars because it's not a place I'd come to again. But, I won't discourage anyone from going there, either.

Seriously I'd give this place five stars for the bacon alone. It's like bacon on bacon crack. I can't explain it. But all four times I've been here while in town on business, I just can't get enough of it. Add to that all around delicious food, great coffee, and fantastic service with real Southern hospitality, and this place is amazing. For a diner, it deserves all the stars I can give it.

We were staying at the Grand Hotel with family and were looking for an alternative to the $20 per person hotel breakfast buffet. We found Julwin's to be the perfect small town diner. Excellent no frills local atmosphere and food. Tastes just like Saturday morning breakfast at home!

This is a great local breakfast spot. The spinach omelet was very good and my husband enjoyed the breakfast sampler. If you are in the mood for a hearty satisfying southern style breakfast this spot should not leave you wanting.

I saw that this was the oldest restaurant in Fairhope. It was on that basis that I tried it. I had chicken breasts, turnip greens and slaw. It was adequate but not special.

Pork chop breakfast hit the spot! A lot a food for $8.99. 2 pork chops, 2 eggs, hash browns, and toast. Was delicious! Service was great! Can't wait to go back..

Good eggs, hashbrowns and very nice staff. Biscuits are not homemade. I would try somewhere different next time just because of the biscuits.

Very fast, great service. Typical greasy spoon. Expect omelets, pancakes, bacon, etc. Nothing spectacular about the menu but a great place if you're looking for a quick, hearty meal.

This quaint place was like a Waffle House but cleaner. Fast, inexpensive and greasy food. I liked it... There is a sign on the table asking if you could help small businesses by paying cash or check. At first I thought this was tacky, then I realized it was quite smart, most consumers don't realize the cost of using credit at small businesses. The credit card fees add up! We paid cash and if you can you should too.

I had the chicken fried steak and eggs for brunch. It was on point! The service was kinda slow for not being busy so I docked one star. My tea went dry and she didn't fill it up, I had a empty cup the whole time. I even placed it on the end of the table hoping she'd see it. Nope....

Breakfast here is always good and plenty of food! Eggs are perfectly cooked as mentioned before, pancakes are delicious, bacon perfectly crisp! Good service & while I love my credit cards, prices are so reasonable that who cares if they prefer cash as long as you know beforehand. Always crowded on weekends

Great mom and pops place. When I was there, it seemed like there were a lot of locals and everyone knew one another. Breakfast was cooked properly and portions were perfect. Quality, not quantity. All the selves were great. Never went without anything.

I've been remiss in not posting a review sooner. We've enjoyed Julwin's food numerous times during our semi-annual stays in Fairhope. The spinach omelet with minced onion, and mushrooms is especially good. Eggs are always cooked exactly as requested, and the homemade biscuits go well with them. The sandwiches are all delicious, generously made with the freshest ingredients. The staff is always welcoming and friendly, and keep the coffee cups filled. This is our favorite place for breakfast when we're in Fairhope.

Stopped in for lunch and coincidentally dinner during Mardi Gras 2010. Lunch was wonderful and reasonably priced. I had the BBQ sandwich. Coincidentally I stopped in for an unorthodox dinner since they are not usually open that late. They had a special menu to order from being that they were not usually open this late. I had the Monte Cristo sandwich....more like the Monte Crisco sandwich. I was accustom to a different approach to the sandwich with a small chain restaurant called Chedders, so when this sizzling hot, grease soaked sandwich came out, it was more greasy than good, but it really wasn't good. I chalk it up to being an off night, but I wouldn't recommend their version of the sandwich. Julwin's is definitely worth stopping in and checking out. I really cannot fault them on the dinner only since that is well past their operating hours, it was a special menu for their late hours. The lunch was good, so that is what I'm scoring them on. Good food, reasonable prices, give'em a go!

Went for brunch and had some omelette's, hash browns, and biscuits. Overall it was very delicious and a great casual home town restaurant. We will be back for sure but I'm not too happy about the fact they don't accept American Express and they actually have signs on the table asking not to pay with credit card. Sorry, I know they charge a lot of money but, I use credit card for most of everything I purchase so I don't like to think about that the whole time I'm there and their reaction that might come if I use a credit card. The staff never hinted anything towards it and was extremely kind and cheerful the whole time. I'll just make up for my credit card use by coming more often and bringing friends from out of town! Looking forward to trying the lunch menu, it looked excellent!

I was in the South so I wanted some grits for breakfast, I was told by the locals that Julwin's Southern Country is the place to be! My wife and I went in and we seated promptly. Coffee quickly came out as I ordered two eggs over easy with bacon and a side of biscuits with gravy! My wife order an omelet with tomato's and onions. Food came out fast and it was very tasty! I will definitely revisit Julwin's! Highly recommended.

We went to Julwin's last Sunday for breakfast and had western omelettes with hashbrowns (with rye toast for me and a biscuit for my husband). The food is very good and well prepared and the service is great. We also like the nice, homey diner atmosphere and will definitely go there again.
