Update - still a Lake Martin classic. I get the the Big Kahuna sandwich - catfish - but I get it blackened not fried, no tartar, no onion. There are lots of great things on the menu but that's hard to beat. I also get the veggie plate - always a winner!

My family has been visiting Oskar's for years, but I only recently discovered their grilled chicken. It's by far the best thing on the menu. Oskar's is phenomenal and you can't go wrong eating there!

Ribs, chicken livers, onion rings and Hamburgers are super. Great place to eat and chill with great service!!! You go CC you are the best.

This place has a super casual, child-friendly atmosphere with smiling service - the way a local restaurant in Dadeville, Alabama should be. The food is good. I had a French Dip sandwich served with au jus for dipping. The beer battered onion rings are also good. By the way, this is not a place where people go to lose weight or live a healthy lifestyle. Just saying... The prices are reasonable, too. We'll hit it again.

We tried Oskar's one night after boating on Lake Martin... It seems to be a favorite for locals so perhaps I'm missing something. I tried their BBQ plate and was just not impressed. Food was served on some really cheap plastic dishes. The BBQ was greasy, and came with a generous amount of gristle. It was low on smokiness too, so it just fell off the scale. I'm not a fan and would look further down the road for another adventure if I had it to do again.

My husband and I ventured off the beaten path during our road trip through the south. We stayed at Creek Side Lodge in Dadeville, AL and Oskars is conveniently right next door. The locals were extremely open to striking up a conversation, which is just what we love. We had some delicious Cheese Balls to start our meal - AMAZING! The catfish dinner was tasty and the grilled shrimp were scrumptious! It took a while for our wine and beer, due to the rush of guests and under age servers. That aside, it was a great place to get our southern fried food fix!

Just left Dadeville a few days ago to head back home to VA Beach. Let me just say, best BBQ I've ever had! I've lived all over the place, and nothing quite compares, and not just the BBQ, but the rest of the menu is also wonderful. My grandparents have been frequenting this joint religiously over the past 20 years, and swear by it!

We just love Oskar's Café. The atmosphere just screams you are at the lake. The food is simple, but delicious. The people are very kind and welcoming. My wife and kids love the chicken fingers. I have a tough time getting anything other than the burger. Great catfish and BBQ also. Oh, and the cheese balls...yum

I've been to Oskar's Cafe a couple of times. The service is always friendly and I love the down home country cooking. The BBQ is a bit too smoky for my taste, but that is just my personal preference. I have enjoyed everything else I've gotten there... Went there on my birthday last week and was given a complimentary dessert which was just yummy - warm chocolate fritters topped with ice cream and whipped cream... Good stuff! Oskar's is always on the list when I'm in town!

There are only a couple of restaurants that I really miss from Alabama now that I have a gazillion dining choices in Dallas, but I must say that Oskar's is certainly one of them. I absolutely love this place! Oskar's is one of those restaurants that I always got excited about visiting to as a kid. They have the best pulled-pork BBQ on the planet (and a perfectly sweet+tangy BBQ sauce), and don't even get me started on their amazing corn nuggets. Oh, the corn nuggets! Oskar's is a Lake Martin staple, and (in my opinion) the best restaurant in the area. It's usually quite crowded on weekends from what I remember, but half of the time we always got take-out and just grubbed on our dock. Score! If you are ever near the Lake Martin/Dadeville area, you have to check out Oskar's. This place is the definition of Alabama BBQ+soul food.

All I can say is 5 stars is a let down for a 10 star place to eat. You can have it all. Cheeseballs are the bomb. Hamburgers great. The whole menu is a winner. The whole family will enjoy themselves. We drive 20 miles one way for my Oskar cravings all the time. This has been my favorite spot now for almost 14 years...once I had there take out cheeseburger, then went in the next night and had fish I was "hooked!" Way to go, great job as usual!!! Jennifer in Wetumpka. :-)

I just walked in Oscars. The worst service I've ever had with visiting this place. Typically it's very good. I stood at the counter waiting to be served no one ever acknowledged me. Finally I got a table to set down. And then no one came to take my order. I just walked out.

Hurts me Oscar's but you are slipping - nothing special my last two trips in. You better get back to customer service and great food or it could be a downhill slide. Even my 80 year old parents are becoming critical and said lets go to Niffers. You don't even seem to care about the T-shirts anymore. I wonder if there is new management.....just not the same.

Oscar's is the best in the Lake Martin area! I've been eating there for as long as I can remember. The staff is always friendly and the service is great as well. Their menu has a good variety and even some originality! (try the cheeseballs :-) you won't regret it!)

Oskar's is a lake tradition. I have never had a bad meal here. The quality of the food is always good. The atmosphere is homey. Be aware that on Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons it can get quite busy, but you don't typically have to wait too long. If you did, your patience would be rewarded.

Oh, Oskar's - going here is part of my summer lake routine. My grandmother's lake cabin is just a few miles away and every time we go out there, I must head to Oskar's for some grub :) While they have all sorts of yummy things on their menu, my favorite is the chicken finger plate. Fries, one of the side salads and a squeeze bottle of their "special sauce". The chicken fingers are big and made fresh to order. The batter is just delicious and it is not the kind that is as thick as the chicken. The salad is a simple mix of shredded lettuce and onions and tomatoes, but it's one of my favorite things - this might be because of their awesome homemade ranch dressing (also served in a big squeeze bottle) and crackers - something about this just makes me devour it! Then...the special sauce. This is really my favorite thing. I'm a sucker for condiments and I love it when a restaurant gives you free rein on sauces. I always want to take one of those big bottles of sauce home with me :) Also good, the fried popcorn shrimp - they are HUGE! :) If I can bring myself to order other things than the chicken fingers, I'll review again.

if you like the fried seafood, southern fixings and beer, this is the place. it has a little local color and doesn't feel corporate (not that there are a lot of place to go around here). They offer good portions of good food for a fair price. the sides are all good too. is this five star fine dining like you find in DC? No. will this fix the hangover from a hard night of drinking on the lake? Yes.

Actually, I would give this place a 4.5 stars, but...sigh... that is not an option. Homey sort of place, near the lake, in a vacation house sort of area. Still working good working folks, but a bit more of a "have fun" area. It IS out in the boonies! Oskar's came highly recommended, and judging by the lunch crowd in the parking lot, I can see why. They were busy. Service is friendly and attentive as my friends in the rural South are so often blessedly reliable at being. The menu is large, and for the most part sticks to its fish theme except fo the necessary burgers, chicken, and steak. Several things looked good. Dinner salad is a simple affair with chopped lettuce, purple onion and generous tomat. Most of the salad dressings are homemade. Yum! The blue cheese is good. I had the blackened grouper sandwich, which was just about right with added tabasco. The sweet tea was a little thin for me, but still good and regularly delivered. What was so steller here was the dessert selections. They had some chocolate thing that sounded unusually and very good. For now I skipped that for something a little more portable. Homemade "southern fried pies". You know, like you get cold and limp in just about every convenience store. WOW!@!@@@# I had coconut, and everything was right. Perfectly cooked, perfect light and slightly flaky crust and lovely filling. My fried pie really was fantastic. I am definately going to be going back to Oskar's in the future.

Our favorite Lake Martin eatery. Great sea food. Try the barbecue salad, if you haven't. It's very good.
