When walking into Lombardos, the tables are covered in white and red checkered table clothes, the sound of Italian music is playing, and everyone greets you with a smile! You can definitely tell its a family run business, which makes it that much better! The owners work there and are so kind and you can tell they genuinely enjoy their customers! On to the food, the bread does come plain, but there is some AMAZING Italian seasoning on the table to add with the olive oil to dip. It is so good and I love how you can customize the dip the way you like it! My son could live on their spaghetti and meatballs! The sauce tastes so great, definitely not out of a jar like so many others taste! I get the chicken Alfredo, which is amazing or the chicken salad and fruit! If you're hungry for some Italian, try Lombardos!

Came here with my mom while doing some traveling around North Alabama based on reviews from Yelp. Short version, it's not bad, but keep in mind it's Cullman, Alabama (nothing against Cullman, but you won't get the level of polish that you would in Birmingham, Decatur, or Huntsville). Longer version, I was initially pretty concerned due to the wait for a table. There isn't a dedicated hostess, so we waited probably 5 minutes to be seated even though they weren't especially busy, and another 5 before our drink orders were taken. Once seated we ended up having to move because it was already chilly out and we were initially seated right under a vent blowing cold air, and the new seats were righty next to a particularly rowdy table. Once we were in our final seats, though, it was smooth sailing. The waitress was cognizant of it being our first visit and was sure to make recommendations when asked. Bread and a salad come with the entrees, and both were brought out quickly. The food was very good (I got the chicken alfredo and mom got the Lombardi Supremo), and the portions were well-sized for dinner. It was a bit off putting that the chicken was shredded instead of diced, but tasted great nonetheless. Service was fine, and the waitress was attentive but not hovering. The one point of confusion at the end of the meal came with the check - it's not clear whether the waitress brings it to your table or you get it from the front (apparently it's the former). Bottom line: The best way I can think of to describe Lombardi's is that it feels like a diner that happens to serve Italian food. If you're looking for a more refined experience it may not be your cup of tea, but for small town Alabama it isn't bad.

It is very hidden in that you don't realize you're looking for a business that you can't see. It has about four signs along a "shopping center" that look like they're leading you into another business. It's all a trick of the eyes because this is a 'mall' and the restaurant is inside at the center of these business. You can tell the staff is very busy as there only appeared to be one person tending to the dining area, front door, and cash register. I guess the rest of the staff shares responsibilities in the kitchen preparing the food and running it to the tables. So be prepared to wait to be seated and wait to pay at the register until someone notices that you're waiting. I waited a very long time to pay. It has a very family feel so I can understand the reason devoted patrons do love this place. They serve some plain bread and give you a plate for olive oil that sits at the table, but one bite of the olive oil was enough for me. It had no additional herbs or seasonings and was way too strong of an oil flavor to go with such basic bread. I personally was just disappointed in the menu selection and the flavor of my food. I ordered the Italian sausage sandwich. It came out as a roll with a few links of sausage in it and drowned in marinara sauce. I typically expect even a messy sandwich to be eaten by hand but this one required fork and knife. The sauce was good but I was highly disappointed in the sausage, it was dense, dry, and flavorless. The bread got super soggy from being drenched in sauce. I didn't see anything that would suit my husband's tastes. He won't eat anything that has cream/alfredo/oil based sauce, no meat, or ricotta cheese. So if you're anything like him you may be limited to spaghetti and meatballs. I guess that means I won't be returning to give it another try.

Had a lovely solo lunch here - got the supremo pasta & a cannoli. Love the ambience; staff were sweet and attentive & very quick! I'm a picky Chicagoan transplant and I loved this place. The flavor of the pasta was perfect & needed nothing but Parmesan (personal preference). I liked the intense flavor of the olive oil - to me, serving a quality darker (more virgin) oil reflects attention to detail. The seasonings to blend in with it were perfect and the bread was fresh baked, tender with a good crust, and small enough to not have to tear in half to dip. I can't wait to come back with my family. I also can't wait to order them for catering service! Anyone commenting that "they wish cullman would get some good restaurants" has not eaten here. I'd choose this over chain Italian any day.

You sort of have to know about this place in order to find it. Like I have said in pretty much all of my reviews for Cullman ( my hometown) they know my family (The Fisher's), and our orders by heart. What can I say we love good food. We have been going to eat lunch here for years. Its a small family owned restaurant with authentic Italian food. The Chicken salad is TO DIE FOR!! I like to get the Chicken Salad Plate with Fruit. The fruit is always fresh. The family runs the whole place and the owners are always floating around meeting all their guests. Great place. Thank you guys for making our lunch breaks great together. Those are my most missed moments!

This really is one of the best places in Cullman. The food is terrific, especially the chicken salad.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
