My kids love it b/c they love all the toppings and gummy stuff. I think it's very very tasty but not that into it b/c it can get pricey quick.

Try the salted pretzel flavor! Friendly staff and fun place to try a new flavor for a treat.

Cool concept. Several interesting & yummy flavors of yogurt and tons of great toppings. All self-service. Like the other reviewer says, be very mindful of how much you're getting, because they charge by weight, and it can get pretty expensive, especially since the smallest size bowl is huge & makes you feel obligated to fill it up. (nice trick) I should also point out that the color scheme in the place is extremely cool, and the chairs are somehow super comfy.

I agree with everyone else- this place is dangerously delicious! Since I am not a big fan of ruining my yogurt with toppings, i do not have to worry about an expensive bowl of yogurt. However, the ability to mix several flavors together after I sampled several already puts me in an overindulgence situation. So far I have enjoyed each visit so much that I never regretted eating way too much yogurt (until the next day). The new yogurt craze is wonderful. These type of places are popping up everywhere. Though this one seems to be the most popular maybe due to it's size and locations there are several more in the area worth trying. Menchies on Valleydale is small but has some unique flavors that I love and never see at Yogurt Mountain, specifically the Rasberry Mango Sherbert!!! So also try others in the area if you are a yogurt lover

This is a dangerous place--dangerously delicious. The "$0.45 per ounce" (or however much it is) sign behind the registers is easily ignored as the line of soft serve frozen yogurt beckons you to fill your ginormous cup with delicious combinations like strawberry and cheese cake, or peanut butter and oreo, or something a little crazy like cotton candy and cake batter. Then you round the end of the line and head back toward the toppings: Oreos, rice krispy treats, Cap'n Crunch, Butterfinger, Snickers, chocolate rocks, coconut, sprinkles, Reese's Pieces, strawberries, blueberries, cheesecake bites, Ghiradelli syrups and marshmallow fluff all vie for their place on your dessert creation. Then you finally get back to the counter and remember that sign. You gingerly set your mountain of deliciousness on the scale and watch the numbers race upward. The cheery kid behind the register says, "That'll be $14.83 please." Whoops. And then you walk outside to the little tables and chairs all crowded around the narrow patio/sidewalk and sit down to revel in the experience of Yogurt Mountain. It's said that "forewarned is forearmed," so here's the warning: watch what you put in the cup, especially when it comes to toppings. Now go forth and have fun!

Best yogurt ever! The inside is lime green and bright purple with silver accents. The staff here treat you very professionally and are quick to give samples. Cherry limeade, cookies and cream, red velvet, tart, and cheesecake - these are all delicious, non-artificial-tasting frozen yogurt. Not too mushy or too icy. Not too sour or too sweet or too mix-flavored. You have to have it perfect, and Yogurt Mountain knows how to do it. It is a great self-serve place. They have more ridiculously heavy topping than any other place. I like my yogurt plain, and now I wish I had a Yogurt Mountain nearby. Best froyo!

So I was really excited when this place opened. I had been in love with Pinkberry & Red Mango* but alas, they are located far far away from Alabama. Frozen yogurt is making a comeback! Ironically, TCBY is not part of said comeback. Oh well. Yogurt mountain has become a huge hit for Birmingham residents. So much so that they've opened a 2nd location on Hwy 150, squeezed between Sbucks & Jason's Deli within less than a year of opening the 1st location. It probably helped that they were the 1st of many following yogurt shops chasing the same success. Cups are standard sized huge, so don't be fooled into filling it to the brim with yogurt & toppings like I watched a friend do. He then looked around for a solid minute to find a place to dump out the excess after finding out that they charged per weight. It's self-serve & charged by the ounce. 42 cents is the going rate. So you can pay as much or as little as your appetite pleases. It helps practice portion control & budgeting @ the same time! Genius really. They have a large variety of flavors. I prefer the original flavor & fruit ones bc I'm expecting yogurt, not ice cream. If ice cream is your thing, perhaps you should try Bruster's. If you're looking for an ice cream-like cheat, they do have vanilla & chocolate flavor. Cake batter, cheesecake, & peanut butter are some others. The toppings bar is not left to the imagination. They have almost everything. Fruit, mochi, different cereals, granola, mini & regular chocolate chips, yogurt chips....other stuff & multiple different syrups. Props for the mango syrup. It's a great place for groups, friends, & families. Warning: I've seen the line out the door before on popular nights like the weekend, after church, & school events. * Red Mango has since been newly opened in the Chace Lake area.

Vegan options!! There is always at least one sorbet, sometimes 3. Top with fresh fruit, Oreos, and/or Mochi! There's another Yogurt Mountain on 150 near the Galleria that doesn't seem to be on Yelp yet...

This place is a winner with the kids every time. My three year old loves to pick his flavor and toppings. They never match (i.e. strawberry yogurt with Butterfinger topping), but that's on him. You have to be careful since it is all charged by the ounce. If you go overboard, your wallet will feel it. The flip side is that you go easy for the kids and still get out there pretty cheap, just steer clear of the heavy toppings like fruit. My biggest complaint is that the place is very crowded both inside and out when it comes to seating. This can be a little tricky with two small kids. The other thing is that being a yogurt place, you kind of expect it to be a little health conscience, though all of the syrup toppings are basically high fructose corn syrup with artificial color and flavor.

Good selection of flavors and toppings beware it can become pricey if you're not careful!

Good froyo. Always have different flavors. Hours are off though. They close at 11:00pm on Saturday or they closed early...

It has been months since I've visited--but not because I didn't like it! Tonight was surprising! I noticed the two workers "cleaning" upon arrival, but I noticed a very funky odor around the first couple machines. Then I noticed several yogurt pileups on the machine trays--I just don't recall it looking this way before. I kinda wish I had headed out then, but I feel weird coming in and then walking out without anything... Yogurt was ok and the guy working the register was nice. I'm sure I'll be back. I just hope it isn't a similar experience.

This place doesn't disappoint when it comes to yogurt flavors and toppings. They always have something new that makes your cup of yogurt exciting. Service has always been great and it has always been clean inside. Ask for a sample cup to try out a new flavor! Also, I highly suggest signing up for their text rewards by registering your phone number the next time you go in. I often get 50% off codes and free yogurt codes, which makes my trip to yogurt mountain even better! The salted pretzel flavor with Pretzel M&Ms is my favorite combo!

I don't know what happened to this place, but after having this location as my go-to spot for a little yogurt for 4 years, coming back after 2 years of not living in Birmingham only resulted in me being disappointed. The flavors aren't that great, and the toppings are extremely limited compared to numerous other yogurt shops I have given a try. Very sad to say this, but I don't think I'll be returning.

I brought my little brother to this place when we were in town last time. I chose this place after reading good reviews on Yelp. We weren't disappointed. The shop is very clean and decorated cheerful. My little brother really likes this place. We chose some yogurt with different flavors. They were extremely delicious even more than what we expected. Friendly staff, various flavors, clean & beautiful space, we would go back next time here.

I don't consider this place particularly unique, as there's tons of frozen yogurt places popping up with trendy decor and funny names. It doesn't really matter though because it gets the job done. There's several flavors to choose from and it didn't appear any were running out. Several topping options including fresh fruit that is indeed fresh. The $.45 an ounce can come back to bite you.. I ended up with ~$7.00 worth of froyo.. but my cup was about half fruit half froyo. Somewhere like a Red Mango (not self serve) would probably ultimately be cheaper if you really love fruit toppings. This place is more than good enough and a pleasant surprise to find while spending the week in Birmingham.

My first experience here was a short one since it was 20 minutes prior to closing, although you would never have known it considering the place was so packed there wasn't even standing room. However, they have good yogurt, they have good toppings, but beware, they charge by the ounce so keep that in mind when piling on all the goodies. It can get expensive if you don't watch it. The price for my 14ozs that I bought was $6.57.

  • Darryl C.

A different take on the same old yogurt shop. This time, you get more yogurt choices (I think I counted 12 individual choices) and a bunch more topping choices (too many to bother counting) and what seems to be a good price at 45 cents/ounce. Then come the checkout and you've just purchased a $6 snack. Like Rob N. stated, their trick is the large bowl. In all, the quality of the product was fine, but the value was lacking.

The Cake Batter yogurt is delicious, hard to believe it's fat free! Huge variety of toppings: candy, cereal, cookies, sauces...unlimited! What else can a dessert lover ask for??
