Drove around the area a bit looking for something to eat and settled on O'Charleys. Big mistake! At 8:45 pm, not that many tables seated but there were 2 groups of people waiting to be seated. No one at the hostess desk, phone ringing made a young man appear & answered. While he was discussing something to a person who obviously was not a customer, another young man, without acknowledging us, seated one of the two groups waiting. Young man on phone finished his conversation then disappeared, without acknowledging as well! Left & went to Chili's where it took less than a minute to be greeted & seated. O'Charleys needs an under cover boss show!

I have enjoyed using yelp so often in our travels. I'm embarrassed to say that I have never left a review of my own. After the service and the food that we have received tonight I feel compelled to keep anyone from making the same mistake we did tonight. Read the other reviews and know that nothing has been exaggerated!! We pulled into Birmingham tonight tired from a long day of travel. We usually like to try some of the local flare when traveling but tonight we were so tired we just wanted something familiar and it was right next door to the hotel. We love our local Panama City O'charleys! We arrived. Was told there was a 25 min wait. More than 1/2 the restaurant was empty. We were seated after only a 10 min wait. Ordered fried pickles for app and two beers. After 20 min a tiny bowl of soggy fried Pickels arrived with one beer. We were told the bar tender was still working on the other beer. Did I mention nobody was at the bar. After another 10 minute wait I asked the waitress to please cancel the second beer. The rest of our food came out about 15 minutes later. Two ordered steak which actually looked decent. I ordered nachos which was mediocre at best...honestly wasn't expecting much. My other son ordered shrimp scampi. After halfway through my nachos I discovered the hair sticking out of it that was very similar to a pubic hair. At that point all of us lost our appetite and we asked for the bill. That was another 15 min wait. Safe to say I won't be heading back to O Charly's anytime soon. If you're in the Birmingham area avoid this one at all costs!

It seemed pretty quiet here. It took a little longer to be greeted, considering they weren't busy. Once we were greeted we were immediately seated. We had our drinks within 5 minutes of seating, and appetizers a few minutes later. The appetizers were good. We had tater tot fondue which was simple yet satisfying, and a sampler thing with potato skins that seemed a bit dry, cheese triangles that were too cheesy (what my husband said, I didn't have any), and some chicken strips that were perfect! The rolls that came fresh out of the oven were the best part of the meal! Had we left after the appetizers this place would've gotten 4 stars! The server was very friendly, but didn't come by very often, we are very low maintenance so it didn't bother us, but may be a problem for others. Our dinner was less than memorable. I ordered the pretzel burger and there was a thick layer of turkey (lunch meat style) that kinda ruined the burger for me, the fries were great! My husbands medium steak was overcooked and not great quality, his ribs were good and the mashed potatoes looked/tasted like they'd been sitting all day. We ordered an apple pie to take home that was no better than any other pie that we could've bought a store for 1/2 the price. All in all it wouldn't be our first choice for another visit, but far better than the service at Chilis down the road!

Average O'Charley's food. Seated quickly but waited for over 30 minutes for drinks the another 30 for food. Decided to make the order carry out because of the long wait to get a simple glass of tea. Parts of the order were missing and the rest was already cold when brought out to us. Won't be going back.

Seated immediately. Ordered promptly. Food arrived in reasonable amount of time. I had the Chicken Tenders and Twisted Chips. First time trying the chips. Very good. I wish I had additional sauce for the chips. 1 serving of honey mustard not quite enough for both the chicken and chips. Wait staff not as attentive as would have liked. It is a pet peeve of mine for my glass to ever get empty. By the end of the meal it seemed as if wait staff wanted us to leave sooner than we were ready.

I am huge fan of O'charleys...I love the menu and the food is good. Rarely have I been disappointed in the food. This location however really struggles with service. I often order to go and it never fails that it takes 20-30 minutes to simply get the order and go. Longer if I do not call it in. It is a shame because I live close and would come more often if I could get in and out quicker.

Ten minutes to be greeted. Five minutes to be seated. Server promptly greeted with rolls and disappeared. 5 minutes for server to return to get drink order. 15 minutes for server to return with drinks and to take order. 20 minutes to get order (chicken tenders, burgers and a pasta) 10 minutes to get drink refills. 10 minutes for additional refills. Arrived 8:45 pm, departed 10:15. The place had 5 tables when we got there and nobody by the time we got drinks. Embarrassingly bad management.

I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was super busy at about 6 pm but I was able to snag the last spot at the bar. When I was finally able to get the overworked bartender's attention, I ordered a beer and their chicken fried steak with bacon mashed potato. It was so busy that it took about a half hour for the food to come out. Did I mention that it was busy? :) There were so many people there either waiting for a table or for their to-go order. The chicken fried steak was okay, it's not something that you can really mess up. Having said that, I've had better elsewhere. The bacon mashed potato was good... anything with bacon is good! :) If you come here during peak meal time, pack your patience... it's going to take a while. Service will be slow! If you're in a hurry, I would advise going someplace else. The food here just isn't that good for the wait.

You have to know what the order at this restaurant! The tenders, salad, and the salmon are my go to options. The service has always been really good, so quite surprise by the reviews. Give the place a try you might surprise yourself!

Walked into the restaurant at 11:15 on a Saturday. There was 1 table of customers seated and about 8 more waiting to be seated. The restaurant was EMPTY other than that 1 table that were already seated. As we walked up to the hostess table, another family was waiting to check in, however, there was no hostess present. After waiting another 2 minutes or so, that family looked around and ended up leaving. Not too long after that, we were greeted and told it would be a 10 minutes....crazy!!! I actually giggled as I looked around the empty restaurant. We left and went across the street to Chili's and were seated immediately. It wasn't about a 10 minute wait time...it was about the fact that it was obvious that keeping customers was not a priority.

O'Charley's pick up ordering process IS GARBAGE!!!! There HAS to be a better way!! What's the point of calling it in and still having to wait 20mins FOR TWO ORDERS OF POTATO SOUP???

Nothing necessarily wrong with the servers, but my actual service? Horrible. Continued to get my order wrong, steak cooked incorrectly. The manager was very nice and helpful though. Maybe tonight was just an off night

Wow. Don't go here. Waited over 30 minutes for a table when over half the restaurant was empty. The staff was full of hood rats and we wound up leaving before we even got seated. Utterly horrible place. Worst experience with a chain restaurant ever

O'Charley's is usually my preferred fast casual chain restaurant because you can usually depend on the quality and variety of items on the menu and actually their steaks and prime rib are pretty good. The Homewood Wildwood location is probably one of the poorer examples in the chain. Your dining experience can vary greatly here depending on who's working on the floor and in the kitchen. The exterior of this location looks dated and needs freshening. Usually the host/hostess is very vivacious and friendly. In my most recent experience, the hostess let me stand in front of her for over a minute while she was reading through some papers before acknowledging me and then acted like it was a bother to set me in the near empty restaurant. Some of the waitstaff are very good--but others, while they seem very sweet, are inattentive, slow and forgetful. Menus are often outdated or missing the pages containing new items and special promotions. As for the food, here's my take on some of the menu items: Chicken Pot Pie--very good, flavorful, nice chunks of chicken Cajun shrimp pasta--good seasoning and flavor--sometimes pasta is lukewarm Cajun chicken pasta--seasoned well but again pasta can be lukewarm Chicken Fingers--these are consistently good Fish sandwich--Surprisingly good--slaw is tasty Steamed broccoli--simple dish, good side choice, hard to mess up Southern fried chicken sandwich--way too salty!!! Cowboy sirloin--steak was tough and mashed potatoes were lukewarm French dip--too salty. Any Hamburger--patty and bun aren't good Chicken fried steak--over-fried and too crunchy French fries--decent seasoning but frequently served cold Double bacon Mac & cheese--this was decent, but was overpriced at $10.99. $7.99 or $8.50 at most would be a fair price Yes, it seems like I've gone there a lot for a less than stellar place; however, it is one of the few restaurants near my office. Plus it seems like every other time you go they give you a survey coupon good for a free appetizer (get the chicken fingers and you can't go wrong!)

If all O'Charley's are like this location, then I will never again eat at an O'Charley's. The person who sat us seem utterly disinterested and displeased in having to do any work. The waitress didn't show up for 10 minutes, despite getting a drink order, and a drink for a table that was seated 5 minutes after us. After that she wasn't a terrible server, but I also would not want to be seated in her section again. The kitchen was slow, as it seemed to take an extended period of time (25-30 mins during a slow time) to get our entrees. However, the quality of much of the food is no longer very good. First, the bread is different, this is half the reason I love O'Charley's. The rolls used to be light and fluffy, now they are denser and smaller, perhaps they were cooked incorrectly by the kitchen at this location, they tasted ok, better than bread at some chains, but not what I love. We got the appetizer combo, and the chicken fingers and honey mustard sauce are probably the only reason worth going to O'Charley's now. The potato skins were good, but the fried cheese was not. I was expecting fried mozzarella, but I'm not totally sure what cheese was in there but it was not very good, as it had a pasteurized processed cheese taste. Both me and my girlfriend ordered some form of chicken and pasta and each dish was drowning in oil. She took one bite and pushed it aside. She had the Caroline Chicken, and after tasting it, I could not stomach it either. I had the Tuscan Chicken, and whatever cheese was on top of it also had that same pasteurized processed cheese taste and really ruined the chicken (which was the only tasty portion of the dish considering the dousing of oil (mine might have been a cheap butter or margarine, while the Caroline Chicken tasted like bad olive oil--though I could be wrong). Apparently Wednesday is also Free Pie Day, and the pies we got were good, though they were out of the promoted chocolate mint pie that I would have loved. So the reasons I gave this place 2 stars instead of one: chicken fingers and honey mustard and the pie. Things they should improve: entree quality, speed of service, bread, and pleasantness of the staff. I would love to be able to go to this place again, but I think this last experience was so bad that we will not.

We waited 45 minutes to be seated even though half the restaurant was empty! Once seated we waited 45 minutes for Caesar salad. (Our food came out before we could finish it, so by the time we started eating the "hot" food, it was cold.) We had to ask for rolls and drink refills and the waitress had a bit of an attitude. This is unacceptable especially when you consider the number of customers they had. This location has gone down pretty bad! It is in need of new management and/or staff or it will be closed soon. Don't waste your time, take your business to another restaurant or a different O'Charley's location.

Girlfriend and I met her family here for lunch yesterday. After this train wreck, you can be sure that I will never set foot in this place again. This review is long because you have to experience it to see what a train wreck this truly was. We walk in here just before the big lunch rush to a restaurant that's not even 25% full and we're put on a wait because of a party of 14 that walked in just before us. So we wait.... and we wait... and other parties are seated ahead of us... and we wait... and we wait. Then they seat of the party of 14.... and we wait while they seat someone else. Finally, they call us. We are taken through the restaurant to a table near the back, passing many open tables along the way. I wondered why they were so "busy" that they were unable to seat us any faster. Once we get to our table, the waiting game continued for several more minutes. We look over the menu, discuss what we'd like to eat, make some decisions, change those decisions and make some new ones. Then we sit around waiting... and waiting... and finally a server comes over and asks if we've been helped. We ordered some drinks (waters, sweet teas, and a Diet Coke, mind you) because after the 15 minutes we had sat waiting, we were very thirsty. She also proceeds to take our order. Several minutes later, she came back with our drinks: a couple of waters, one sweet tea, and a Sprite. She then tells that they were out of sweet tea and they were making more. Two things wrong with this.... 1) I'm not sure about you, but since when did Sprite and Diet Coke even look alike, let alone sound alike? 2) How do you run out of sweet tea at a restaurant in the SOUTH on a weekend morning at 12 noon? Even though they were out of sweet tea, the server still should have been a little proactive and at least brought WATER to those who had ordered the sweet tea.... that didn't happen until we asked... just moments before the entire meal came out. But we're still getting to that... She disappears after promising to bring tea (which never happened) and a couple minutes later comes back to inform me that they were out of hamburgers (I had ordered a hamburger from the 2 for $20 menu). I expressed my disappointment and asked if I could have something that wasn't on that special menu for the same price. She didn't answer me one way or the other just saying "Would you like me to bring you a menu"? I finally decided to go with the Chicken Bacon Bleu Sandwich. Our appetizer came after this... it was the Spinach and Artichoke dip. This was probably the best part of the meal and the reason I can justify giving this place one star. If we hadn't gotten this and if Yelp would let me, this review would be zero stars. Finally, our meal came... delivered by our server, who now didn't really remember who had ordered what. When my meal was placed in front of me, I was happy... it looked pretty good. Unfortunately that was a short lived happy. The bread of my sandwich was hard and stale. I couldn't even taste the chicken.... I'm not sure how much was actually there. There certainly wasn't much bleu cheese on it and the french fries that came on the side were undercooked, oversalted, and soggy. Our server did ask if everything was okay. None of us really said anything, so she took that as a yes. I wasn't about to complain in front of Girlfriend's family... but if I had been alone, you can bet I would have. I think our sever knew everything wasn't okay... and if she didn't, she probably should find another profession. At no point did she apologize for anything other being out of burgers. Towards the end of my meal, I headed for the restroom... this should have been prime "lunch rush time".... I expected to see a restaurant full of people (helping to explain why we never got our Sweet Tea and the other issues I referred to earlier). That was not the case. There were entire sections of the dining area that must have been closed. Not one person was seated there. In the end, our server did try to make the check right... she discounted the appetizer to the $2 for $20 price, and didn't charge us for the sweet teas that we never got. I kind of expected to see a manager come to our table and apologize for things being so bad, but I guess they don't believe in that kind of customer service here. By the way, how do you run out of hamburgers at lunch time on a holiday weekend? Sorry O'Charleys, despite your promise of "Good food and good times", we had neither.

We were seated at 3 and got our food close to 4. Took a while but I've had worse wait times. Ordered a margarita and it wasn't strong enough for my liking. Food wasn't spectacular but wasnt horrible either. I had the catfish dinner. Okay beer selection for a place of this nature. Finished off with a Stella Artoi. Waitress was very nice. I was expecting worse but came out satisfied.

The waitstaff were very attentive , even though the kitchen staff needed a fire lit under them, but the wait was unbearable rabble because sweet waitress checked on us frequently and kept us apprised of the situation. Must have been my night. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi Pasta and it was awesome! Usually pasta dishes in the chains that don't specialize in pasta can over do it. This was perfect. Cliff's steak was med well instead of med rare, which was slight disappoint, but he I'd the pice made it well worth it. Then dessert trio was awesome. Three small pieces of dessert, caramel tart with whipped cream, brownie with vanilla ice cream, and an apple pie with ice cream. Decadent! Small enough pieces for two people to sample and not be overstuffed. All in all a very enjoyable meal!

He said..."Ok so the food was good, but the service was not. I would give the food up to 4 stars by itself. So we went to eat here after the papajohns .com bowl game and so did 100 other fans. There were open tables everywhere but they were understaffed. We waited an hour to get seated so that really sucked. If you are going to have a football game, wouldn't you have more staff? So the food was good, their bread rolls are some of the best around. They are always warm and buttery, getting hungry right now just talking about them. We ordered a steak and potato. The steak was a bit overcooked but we still devoured the meal. Maybe it was the fact that we were extremely hungry. Next time...just have more staff during a game." She said..."I wouldn't say the best rolls around...they just tasted like rolls you would get at the grocery store and heat them up in the oven with some butter on top. I mean, it wasnt that amazing. The service was really slow, considering there was a lot of hungry football fans there ready to eat that night....they should have been more staffed. The food was alright, nothing too special. I asked for my steak medium and it came out well done, however, i was too hungry to wait to take it back. Maybe i will get something easier next time i come here."

I don't frequent "casual American dining" restaurants too often. When I do, I usually soon figure out why. The first mistake I made was coming here on a Sunday afternoon, so the place was filled with loud people and children. When I asked our waiter if I could order the soup and salad combo that's offered during the week, he just said "Uhhh...no." No effort was made to get me what I wanted to order. I guess I'm just used to non-chain places that are fighting to stay open and are more willing to accommodate. I just ordered the baked potato soup. It was okay, just really cheesy and too rich for my taste. Our bread was a little overcooked, more than bread I've had at O'Charley's before - I don't think I'd call it "unsliceable." At least Mr. E said his salad was good, and I've had enough "causal American dining" for the next 6 months or so.

Great food. Crappy service due to understaffing. Very crowded for 3 in the afternoon. Second visit in two months. Overall, not to shabby.
