One of the freshest, light deli type restaurant in Birmingham. All locations are great; clean with very friendly employees. So many yummy options! But my absolute favorite is the Turkey and Asapargus Salad- great combination, large plate of food and the dressing is delicious. My husband loves to get the Chicken salad on greens. All salads and plates (besides sandwiches) are some with a variety of gourmet crackers. The fruit plate is huge and great for a starter or dessert to share. If you like fresh, light food give this local restaurant a try, you won't be disappointed. But beware that the Homewood location gets VERY busy for lunch on weekdays.

Quality of the food is lackluster. It seems this is owned by someone other than the original owners. The folks there are nice enough, but they ran out of several items. Don't care to ever eat there again.

Really loved this location and the décor was really nice. I'm such a big fan of the chicken salad/fruit plate. A perfect portion of chicken salad with an assortment of crackers and the fresh fruit is a huge selection (kiwi, strawberry, grapes, raisins, banana, apples, banana chips, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, pear, melon, cantaloupe, mango). So tasty and very reasonably priced.

This place has a new owner and is not like it used to be. The menu has changed and the freshness of the food has gone downhill. Also, it is not vegetarian friendly. On their old menu, there were plenty of meat alternatives, but not on the new one. You can eat meat, or get one of the two side salads for your meal. When I asked the cashier if I could get one of the specialty salads without the meat, she said they didn't do substitutions. I said, "I'm a vegetarian and there is nothing on your menu I can eat". She went and asked the owner, who said he would leave the meat off, but when I asked her if they could charge me less for the salad (it was $9.25) since I wasn't getting the meat on it, she said no. She asked the owner again, who said no. I ordered the smaller side salad and was pretty angry at how inflexible the place had become and about their menu change. The cashier was very profusely apologetic to me, but her hands were tied. When the food came, one of my two lunch companions noticed the bananas on her plate had a brown sludge on them. All of the fruit looked like it had been cut up and put in the fridge for days and days. It was pretty gross. I noticed that the cucumbers on my salad had a mushy ring around them and when I bit into one, I had to spit it into a napkin because it tasted sour. We were all kind of appalled. I grew up around that area and my family and I used to really enjoy eating at O'Carr's. This experience was like a glass of ice water to my face. I hope the new owner reads this because I won't go back, unless he makes some changes to his menu and his policies. We have already told a few people about our experience, so word may be spreading. It's disappointing to see a favorite lunch place go down the tubes.

Best milkshakes in Birmingham. Hands down. Trust me. Peanut butter and chocolate mixed together is TO DIE FOR.

i just discovered the joy of a Reuben sandwich in New Jersey, so what pleasure I had to come to Alabama on vacation (yes, seriously...) to find a deli style restaurant with a Reuben! it was damn good. and fast. not the highest piled sandwich like New York, but......

So gross I think the whole shaker of herbs was on top of my Salad. And they didn't have prosciutto or roast beef.
