Healthy Meal suggestions for Outback Steakhouse

We stopped in for dinner on the way home from vacation. We arrived just as the restaurant opened and several people were already waiting outside for opening time so I took that as a sign from the locals this Outback had their act together. We were seated in the bar area and very well taken care of by Alyssa. My wife had the sirloin and I had chicken on the barbie. At the end of the day, both meals were superb. I had to send the first chicken breast back because it was a little undercooked once I got into it pretty good. Alyssa and manager Shawn were quick to fix the problem and I quickly had my chicken replaced. I'll definitely stop by on my next trip through.

If you are used to Outback then this will fit the same code. French onion soup is a must try- lots of cheese but not too much where it gets overwhelming. I had the combo of the outback special with shrimp. I thought I was going to get more shrimp then I did... sauce was really good. We had a new server (had been on the floor for three days) and she made the experience very uncomfortable. She would barge up to the table talking, come by every 3-5 minutes to see if we were "ok" and fill our glasses after 2 sips. I respect that she was trying but yikes- give us some breathing room!!

WRONG ZIPCODE in Yelp. Use 35068. It is in Fultondale area, not downtown.

I usually like to try non-chain places, but my mom and I felt like steak, and this was rated the best steak by "Best of Birmingham"... so why not? And y'all, we were not disappointed. Service was great; it was a busy night but we were seated immediately and dinner came shortly thereafter. Our server Emily was sweet and did a great job. I had a ribeye steak with a blue cheese crust, and mom had prime rib with grilled asparagus. I know steak isn't complicated, but it was simply fantastic.

Worse outback in have been to. Everything overlooked and said a 30 minute wait with open tables. Floors need to be cleaned due to slipping and sliding. Last time at this location.

Not worth the trip. If you want a great steak get your wallet & go to flemming steak house at the summit. Pricey but worth every cent!!!

Bread was supposed to be served upon arrival, came out after salad and was right out of package, not even warm. Potatoes were cold (even the remake after sending back 1st one). The absolute worst was the butter garlic shrimp. The butter was like canned restaurant butter for cooking COLD and coagulated GROSS!!!! Management could care less.....they are in a prime location to get business no matter what, such a shame. I will never eat here again.

This restaurant in Fultondale is not worth the time. They tell you it's a 30 min wait and you end up waiting for over an hour. Either someone in the kitchen doesn't have it together or they have a problem clearing tables. When we asked to speak with a manager we were told the manager was busy walking around to tables to come talk to us. We weren't even seated yet. So since we aren't worth the time to talk to, this place isn't worth the money to go to.

Typical chain restaurant experience. Nothing fancy about the food. We had reservations and still waited over 30 minutes. Wasn't bad but it just wasn't anything exceptional.

Its really a nice restaurant with some of the well educated servers . The key element of Outback chains is chefs . Well trained , and certified . Not like others .

Unfortunately I can't rate the food here because we never got any. After being told there was a 30 minute wait for lunch at 12:30 (had to be short staffed as over half the restaurant was empty) we ended up with a table in a section that had a waitress that just could not have cared less. After passing our table several times she finally asked for a drink order (mind you she called this over her shoulder to us while facing another table) and then took almost ten minutes to bring us our waters which she got wrong. How do you get a water order wrong? Its water! (ordered with no lemon as I am allergic to citrus but came with lemon on it and in it) OK. Looking bad at this point but tried to order our appetizer which they had a special promotion on. We tried to order two (one for myself and one for my lunch date) to which we were told we could only order one per table and she would get us the manager. What? We don't want the manager...we want to eat lunch. Another 10 minutes comes by and she brings another table near us their food and while serving them she calls over to us and says "yeah the manager says it's one per table so do you want me to put that in for you?" We assumed at this point that our appetizer was on its way to us and we were more than ready to place our lunch order. My date and I looked at each other and we said "the appetizer order isn't even IN yet? Let's just leave." We were seated at our table for 30 minutes and still had nothing but water which I couldn't drink. Will never be back!

Monday night, hardly any customers and it still took 25 minutes to take our order. Then another 25 minutes to get a thin hamburger, baked potato, medium steak and shrimp. Sat through most the meal with our drinks running empty. Our waiter only had two tables to tend to, he spent most the time in the back. The food was cooked well, we just had poor service. Nice attitude, but very inattentive.

Stopped here passing through Birmingham, AL. The place was almost empty, but as a result food service was really fast. The food was good; however I had a hair inside my drink (I noticed when she brought the drink out). Our sever apologized and promptly got me a new drink. I wouldn't mind coming back again.

The food is as good as any Outback but you better allot plenty of time because the service here is slloooow. Personally Outback isn't my first choice for dinner anyway. If it weren't for the bloomin' onion, bread, and croutons there wouldn't be anything calling me back. (but last time I visited they never brought us any bread) The reason it's on my top 100 dishes to try list: Bloomin' Onion The reason it's on my "Little Things" list: Croutons Honey Wheat Bushman Bread Loaf with Honey Butter
