What a staple in Mt. Brook. I love this place and the service is great. Shawn is a buddy of mine from back in the day but he is one of the nicest people I've ever met and does a fantastic job (wish I could steal him to come work with me at Cellular Sales). Its most certainly a local watering hole and it's that kind of place "where everybody knows your name." I've also never had a bad meal and love their patio especially during the fall. We only live about an 8 minute drive from Otys so that's a plus. However, when I lived on 280 I would make it over here because of all the above mentioned. Otys never lets us down and I'll be seeing all those fellas soon for football season and cold IPAs.

This was our first visit and based on reviews we were ready for a great culinary event. We were disappointed. We were seated promptly but then basically ignored. I had to flag down a server after sitting there for almost 30 minutes. Groves of people arrived and were waited on while we sat. After finally giving our order the food arrived. Their signature Cheeseburger was nothing special. Wife had a fish sandwich. It had no taste. No seasoning to speak of. Would not return mainly due to poor service.

So I have been here a couple of times because my friends that live in Birmingham consider this their local. And since they know I love a low key, divey, strip mall bar then they knew I would love it here. First off, when I initially saw how this place was spelled I wanted to pronounce it "Oh tays" like Buckwheat you know? O-TAY! So basically I am going to call it "Oh-tays" forever even though that's totally not how you say it. I think this just makes me like it more. Bar staff friendly. Bar patrons friendly. Patio for hanging out when the weather is nice. Sometimes some live band is playing. Food is pretty good bar food as well. And they have booze and plenty of it...ah, the cornerstone of any excellent bar! I will be back, probably on every visit to Birmingham. Oh-TAY Otey's, I'll see ya then!

Trivia was a joke tonight. Why the hell would you have two rounds dedicated to Whitney Houston? In Mountain Brook?

I ordered the garden burger and the menu said it would be grilled. It was microwaved and mushy. It came with fries and they were mostly cooked and covered in an ocean of salt. The service was friendly and attentive.

Been eating here all my life. Cannot say I have ever had a bad meal. Rodney and Will are the best. Place isn't the same without Tight, but life goes on. Blackened chicken, wings, and Rodney's homemade soups are some of the best items on the menu. Its the "cheers" of MB.

Awesome food. Awesome trivia. Awesome staff. It has it all. The only complaint I have is that seating is a little limited, so get there early! Their burgers are the best in town! And I love that they sponsor an event every year for children's hospital :)

Friendly staff, decent service, kinda expensive, but the biggest detractor was the clientele. We came here to meet a friend and I wanted to leave before we even got in the door. This place is like being at a frat party that you don't belong to. Everyone was completely toasted and acting like a bunch of kids at their first house party. I was stumbled into more than once while waiting for service at the bar. Visors galore.

Otey's has always been somewhere in the background of my life. When I was very young, my mom's college friend owned it and it was called Cacky's. We went all the time so the parents could catch up, have a drink (and maybe even a smoke!), while the kids ran amok in the parking lot and snooped around Snoozy's to pick out the coolest toys. Now Otey's has transformed into that local watering hole that loads of people I went to high school with frequent. At first that would seem like a bit of a turn-off, but now its fun to get to go down to this super casual spot and catch up with or simply people-watch people who I used to know. The drinks are generous and inexpensive, the food is great (for pub food), the live music provides a great backdrop to conversation, and the outdoor patio area is an added bonus. Now that smoking indoors isn't allowed, Otey's gained its 4th star from me - before I was always left with stinky ash-tray smell, but now I'm not. This girl = happy camper!

Otey's has a great hometown bar atmosphere. The music was great for the size of the bar. Be aware there is smoking allowed in the bar. Also there are no beers on draft. Bottles only.

I love Oteys! Good drinks, good food, good people. Enough said.

Good local, sports on, bar food is a go. Parking is the only bad part about coming here. Family friendly, comfortable surrounding.
