Sunday morning coffe/pastry adventures... Klingler's - pleasant and unexpected surprise. 4 stars only because the coffee was a basic brew. So as we continue to explore the coffee and pastry shops around Birmingham we decided that Klingler's would be next. Fantastic little German bakery and cafè. I don't understand why they don't expand for a bit more room. The Goods: Coffee - was very good considering is was a basic brand. But I would expect a place like this to maybe have a good German cup of joe. Pastries - looked incredible! We went with the "Sticky Bun" and Bluebarry muffin. I can't put into words to describe the pallet pleasing description. You'll just have to try it for yourself. We'll definitely be back for more yummy pastries on our cheat day. The menu looked great so a Sunday brunch will be in the future. Also... Drew, without being asked, even warmed the muffin. Way to look out bro! The Place: Cute, warm, inviting, cozy, ect - a must see. The Staff: Above par! And thats putting it mildly. Drew was the best and I hope he knows how much we appreciated him.

While waiting on a custom cake pick-up, we enjoyed some tea and pastries. The cake balls were delicious and the cake slices were moist and yummy. I like that the pastries aren't TOO sweet. I don't need my cavity to ache because I'm craving some sweets! A nice relaxing spot towards the end of the day on a Saturday. I knocked off a star because our cake was promised at 3:00 but it wasn't there. We had to wait about an additional 35 minutes for it to arrive. Also, the wording was incorrect on the cake. Still, this place is cute and worth a try. Because of the wait, I got to try some of their other items so I didn't mind too much.

The place decor is pretty terrible, for my taste. Although, it's very clean and somehow comfortable. The traditional German music that keeps on looping is so bad that it might be consider a health hazard! Wait staff is very professional and kind. Their breakfast was good, made out of VERY good quality ingredients and very well balanced. This place offer very good quality desserts, but all the rest is way off! A great place for take off orders

Love this spot for breakfast and brunch! The cheese blintzes are amazing and the grit soufflé is the perfect savory balance to a sweet entree!

This little breakfast and bakery is easy to miss off of Montgomery Hwy because all the other store signs around it have the same fonts. The setting of the bakery is not what you'd expect. They sell cute and random European-inspired decorations. There's wall of coo coo clocks on one end, and pastries and cakes on the other end. They also serve beer in the evening. The French toast looked nothing like the American French toast. It looked like a pancake was accidentally cooked on top of a piece of toast and that was what you were going to get. It tasted like dough and didn't have enough sugar. The bacon was good. The German sauerkraut is cabbage with a pickled taste. The portions were too much. It was accompanied by small slices of meat. The entire dish was warm and fresh. I sampled their pecan pie, crumble cake, and lemon pie. They were all good.

We went to Klinger's Bakery last Saturday morning for breakfast. There were so many delicious sounding options to choose from that it was almost overwhelming. I'm a huge fan of any type of Eggs Benedict, so I ordered the similar sounding Brunch Special. It looked delicious, but I quickly realized the poached eggs were cooked all the way through and not runny at all. I would have pointed out the error, but while our waitress was very sweet, it was about ten minuted before she came back to check on us to see how everything was. Everything else was delicious and I was very hungry, so I just ate it- and mostly enjoyed it! My husband also enjoyed his breakfast platter with biscuits and gravy, but we were both surprised to see the sausage gravy was made with link sausage and not ground sausage. We both said that next time we go we'll get a pancake, waffle, or other specialty item. This place just barely missed 4 stars due to our food not being as good as we'd hoped, but it was just too cute not to try again.

First, in the spirit of full disclosure, I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants. And to be quite honest, the two options that are close to Klingler's (Panera and Egg and I) would be near the top of my list of national chains. But why anyone would choose them over this family run Vestavia Hills treasure is beyond me. This is a great bakery with fantastic food and great service. If you feel like a hearty breakfast with eggs and meat, they got it. Want waffles or french toast? They have some of the best you've ever tasted. I love this place for their weekend brunch specials and during the week for a great standard breakfast. Not to forget lunch - they probably have the best Rueben in town along with every other soup and sandwich that matters. Go here and try it. And Vestavia has lost some great restaurants in the past. Lose this one and you will lose a gem. But Hoover would gladly accept you if Vestavia can't take care of you the way you deserve.

This place is delicious! There are so many solid options for both meal and treat appetites. I had some salad sampler and red roasted something soup. It was all worth getting again, but I'm more into the salty pimento cheese than to this one that was just pretty good to me. I also had a chocolate peanut butter creme cake circle; it rocked...mmm...wow. The chocolate chip cookie was solid, too. It's pretty small and the atmosphere is great; I think the boss lady really is German. Try this place out!

Always a fine, comfortable, and friendly time here. My understanding is they are now open at nights for supper...Thursday - Saturday. I can't find the hours reflected on either their website or Facebook, however. Give them a call and see. Somebody also commented online that they are now serving beer. Anybody know? If they are giving us MORE, I'll have to up things a star. ;) Wonder if they've expanded the menu........? Das YUM.

Beautiful deserts and good food but I was disappointed by the ever present beeping of a microwave. My schnitzel sandwich and german potato salad were clearly from "chef mike". It's too bad. It was good but would have been far better if it were cooked to order. Another diner had chicken salad on puff pastry. The pastry was tough and dry and clearly not fresh. This is my kind of place and I want to love kingler's. The shortcuts were just too obvious and that knocks them down one star in my book.

Mrs. Klingler makes one heck of a sticky bun. I've been here several times and tried many of her cakes and pastries, and while there are many great items, that sticky bun is a standout. The filling (pastry cream?) is spectacular. Be prepared to share or save the rest for later, it's rich and hard for me to finish in one sitting. I've also had lunch here once, it didn't blow my mind, but it was good. My dad is German, so it's nice to have a place where I can get a taste of some of the things I grew up eating.

Food is wonderful..... But the manager is extremely rude. Makes me not want to go back. Customer service needs to improve.

Hmmm...not sure how this place had so many five stars. Wanted to like it but indifferent service combined with so so food for three people (everyone ordered something different) makes this a disappointment. Super gloopy...covered in store bought chocolate syrup...that sort of describes this mornings plates...coffee...just ordinary. As we left to go on our way...one of our party wished we had eaten elsewhere...even a Starbucks. Yikes...not what you want to hear from your guest at breakfast.

Ms. Klingler is a wonderful person. We eat breakfast here a lot and a few lunches on weekends. Definitely a great place. It has a warm, family feel that is nice. Very courteous staff. Try it! They started serving biscuits for breakfast! Great!

What a special place! We had breakfast and the "oohs" with closed eyes told the whole story. German food, well prepared, and charming atmosphere. You will be glad you found this little cafe!
