Took the wife and most of the kids here for Valentine's Day. We had to make an early reservation but was well worth it. We were seated immediately and drinks were within seconds. The waiter explained the special and answered any questions. My wife had a few questions about the wine list and the server was very knowledgeable and helped her pick out something she enjoyed. The kids wanted to know more about the special and the server did a great job in explaining all the variations they could do. I got the filet with two sides, the wife and one of the kids got the steak and lobster and the other teenager got the salmon. The food was great and they paid close attention to seeing that our food was to our liking, glasses filled and if we needed anything else. Our server ended up talking my wife and one of the kids into the walnut turtle pie. They enjoyed it at no surprise. This was actually our second time to visit Flemings and they continue to amaze. So much so, one of the teenagers took his girlfriend there, since our visit, for their anniversary. I applaud the owner.

Took my wife and 3 daughters for dinner. 5 filets, 4 sides...one if the best dinners we had anywhere. They put a great steak on a plate!

Finally decided to have dinner here after hearing about how good the steaks are and the cozy atmosphere. True this is a cozy atmosphere, but the restaurant feels more like a bar than a steakhouse. If you are looking for a good steak then this place is just average and overrated, keep looking...

Best steak and service in town! Lava cake for dessert!!! Reservations suggested. Quiet, comfortable atmosphere with knowledgable, friendly staff. A must if you are in Birmingham

Great atmosphere, great service, one of the best Steaks we have ever eaten in a restaurant.

This is known as a good place to go for wine. Well, my husband and I don't drink, but no worries. The food is fantastic! We went for our anniversary and got the advertised chef special from the coupon we got in the mail. It was steak and lobster. First, our server was very nice, helpful and professional. Both the steak and lobster were quite good. We got the chocolate lava cake for dessert. Again, fantastic. We will be back.

Excellent in every category...ambiance, service and most definitely the food and wine. We all got the petite filet and it was the best it could be...the sides we got were the Flemings potatoes, which were great, but the spinach was excellent for spinach. We were too full for dessert. We did regret eating so much for the wonderful fresh from the oven bread because we wanted to try the desserts. Maybe next time...as we will definitely be back.

This is one of my favorite steak houses when I want to enjoy a leisurely meal where I'm not rushed, for a change. It is hard to decide if Sunday's Prime Rib is better than their juicy fillet's, rib eye or their happy hour delicious cheeseburgers!! Let's not forget the calamari, various potato dish's, grilled asparagus, blue cheese wedge and the list goes on and on for compliments and consistency. And I love that they keep your preferences on file for where you like to sit and you favorite wait staff. Their customer service excels also. AND let's not forget the Kettle one martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, yummy wine and to finish off the meal.... if you have room. The molten lava cake. Also, don't forget to try the scallops with their amazing flavor. Everything is generous to share so you can taste a bit of everything. My only complaint right now, it seems noisier than it used to be to carry on a good conversation with your other dinner guests across the table. And tonight we found out our FAVORITE waitress has moved back to town! (Meredith!)

I live in Bham and Flemings has yet to disappoint. Small plates are a great addition and easier on the wallet. Get the wedge salad and seared tuna or tempura lobster and you go home satisfied. Only 4 stars as the dessert was disappointing. Food and wine are great.

Had heard about Fleming's for awhile and was excited to finally eat there. Very good service, atmosphere and the food was delicious. Going to try the happy hour burger for $6. Sounds good. Glad that my hometown has a restaurant like this.

Well, I've always said I want to be buried in a vat of Fleming's potatoes and that certainly has not changed. The food is wonderful and the service is excellence... ONCE you get into the restaurant. I parked at the very back of the parking lot since 99% of the parking lot is reserved for valet parking. I parked in a part that did not have a No parking sign but was accosted by one of the valet parkers named Cameron. I told him I would be more than happy to tip for the spot but that I did not feel comfortable with anyone else parking my car. He was extremely rude and ASSURED me that my car would be blocked in when I came out. I exited the restaurant before 8 pm and SURPRISE - my car was blocked in. I went to the young man and asked if he was going to be able to let me out or if I needed to see the manager. He assured me that he would immediately move the blocking car. After 20 minutes, and 2 calls to management, my car was freed. It was a sad to end a wonderful meal. What a negative experience. Is Flemings making so little money that they have to hold their parking lot prisoner? Sad.

I happened to write a thank you note on the back of the receipt.... Just saying thank you for a beautiful perfect night!!!! Went to the restroom before we left and he literally chased us and found us and gave us a $25 gift certificate and truffles!!! Love love love this place ... Ask for Eliseo!!!!

I had heard mediocre things about Fleming's in the past, but as far as awesome food goes in B'ham, this place rocks. Speaking of rocks, their drinks were delicious, too. The ahi was awesome, so were the filet and pork belly. The shrimp cocktail was falling behind a little, but overall I had a wonderful time. Suzanne at the bar is wonderful.

This restaurant has a lovely interior and is actually much smaller inside than it appears outside. The service is fantastic. It's expensive but it's worth it. I ordered the sweet chile calamari appetizer, which tasted like the calamari marinated in sweet lime. Every bite was delicious and savory. The squid had just the right amount of texture and batter. It's been a while since I've had decent calamari and this exceeded my expectations.

Wow, I was amazed to see that there was no review for the Birmingham Fleming's because it is always packed. This is a wonderful fine dining experience in Birmingham, located at The Summit. I still can't believe it is owned by the same chain as Outback. It is also pricey but that is what you should expect for a fine dining experience like this; and for me it has always been worth every penny! By far, this is my favorite restaurant to go to for a special occasion or if I want to have a really awesome steak! I have been here numerous times, so I have tried a variety of items on the menu...all their sides are FANTASTIC! But I do have my favorites: The Tenderloin Carpaccio and Seared Ahi Tuna appetizers, Main Filet, Sauteed Mushrooms, Asparagus and Onion Rings! It has your typical fining steakhouse atmosphere. But can get quite noisy when really busy. (the best spot for a private , romantic meal is the back left corner table) Our servers have always been excellent... it is obvious they have a wonderful training program for their staff. I reccomend making reservations if you will be dining. Another option to save money but enjoy the fabulous food is to eat one of their prime burgers at the bar or go to bar before 7pm to enjoy the $6 drink and appetizer bar menu!

Great steak, attentive service, creative side dish, and fabulous wine. No wait even though we were well before our reservation on a reasonably busy evening. A little pricey maybe, but I knew that--this isn't the The Sizzler, you know. I'd go back any chance I had.

I always enjoy Flemings the steak here is very very good, nice wine selection and very attentive wait staff. If you are lucky enough to be eating in the bar area Flemings has an outstanding burger made with a 6oz filet mignon that is one of the best I have ever had and about 20 bucks. Perfect for groups or mother in law dinners. Keep up the outstanding work Flemings

Came through birmingham on a road trip and stopped here with plans to restaurant hop. Showed up in road trip bum clothes-slightly worried that we'd be spun around at the door and booted out-and no one even blinked. Sat at the bar (which I'd recommend) and was promptly greeted by the super awesome Suzanne, who gave us such great conversation, service, food and drinks that we ended up ditching our plans and staying there the whole night. Had the Negroli 2.0 and Stilleto drinks which were both delicious. Ate the shrimp cocktail, filet mignon, seared ahi tuna and pork belly (or bacon, as my bf lovingly referred to it for my sake-bc that sounds SO much more appetizing than pork belly.) Followed up with the creme brulee which was perfect. Everything was delicious. Of course it was expensive but super worth it. And Suzanne, if you ever read this and end up coming to Nashville for a trip to the zoo-shoot me a message! :-)

Food quality is down from our last visit. The heirloom tomato salad is more beets than tomato.

Service was less than 1 star. Three entrees best described as awful. Truely, not what we expected and at fine dining prices. Meat undercooked, then over microwaved. Baked potatoe must have been from previous night. Server regularly admited that he just forgot some of our requests.

Best $6 happy hour (3-6p) burger I've had. I don't know if I would go for a normal meal, as it's pretty pricey, but as far as gloriously fattening burgers go, this is the place to be.

We have gone to many Flemings before in different states and it has always been an excellent experience. While dining this past time here it had started out great. We ordered a bottle of wine and some cocktails. By the time our entrees arrived I was not satisfied with my fish entree. It was very dry, so by the time our waitress finally came back I asked for a sauce to try and make it better. She had given me what tasted like a cold salad dressing, but never came back to check on us. My two other guests had finished eating their entrees and I had given up on a manager or our waitress coming back over. The bus boys took our plates away and by the time she finally came over again we ordered desserts. After our check was paid and we were getting ready to leave, the manager came over to us and said he was just informed about my entree and didn't want me to leave hungry. I told him that would have been nice an hour ago and he just said sorry and left. If we're there spending over $350 on dinner I would expect not only better service but better food as well.

Went here for Valentine's Day. We made reservations three weeks in advanced but it was well worth it. I got the filet and lobster and both were cooked to perfection. The ambiance was great and the staff was very friendly. I highly recommend this place for a nice night out.

Best steak I have ever eaten! The seasoning is so good, you will not need steak sauce and the streak is so tender that it melts (like butter) in your mouth!!

Very typical high end steakhouse. Not quite in a mall but in a separate building that is part of a large shopping complex. About 15 minutes from downtown Birmingham so be prepared for a bit of a drive. I'm not a frequent visitor to Birmingham but my sense is that if you want good food you can either go to 5 Points area or go for a drive. There is plenty of free parking (and valet parking). The lot and the restaurant were packed on a recent Tues. night. Two of us walked in without reservations and were politely told it would be a 30 minute wait. We decided to eat at the bar. It was full too, but mostly of patrons waiting to be seated as opposed to hang out and drink, and a couple of spaces cleared quickly. The bartender told us Fleming's is a chain of 70 restaurants but to their credit it doesn't seem like a chain. Decor and atmosphere is lively but not stuffy. The menu is typical steakhouse stuff and while it is expensive it did not seem as pricey as urban steakhouses I have been to in say Chicago or NY. You can order the full menu at the bar. Note that there are no burgers on that menu but there is a bar menu that has them. Don't know if you can order that at the table--would seem kind of cheesey. Also there is a happy hour special for food and appetizers until 7 pm. We had the pork chops which were delicious. Well cooked and seasoned and flavorful. I couldn't help but note that it was a very upper middle class southern suburban environment with a clientele to match. But that did not detract from the food and the service and all in all it was an enjoyable experience.

One word. FANTASTIC! I have eaten at other steakhouses like this and the servie here is above them all! The waiter (Rosh) was very knowledgeable with what wines to pair with what foods. He never let our glasses empty. The atmosphere of the restaurant was a little stuffy as we were there on a Saturday night. The lights were nice and dim, the music was soft but the over all feel of the restaurant was crowded. Mind you, we were sitting in the center of the floor next to a HUGE party of 10, which made our special night a little on the noisey side. The steaks were cooked to perfection and having sides large enough to share made it feel more like a meal you could have at home. The appitizer was plenty (shrimp cocktail) for my fiancé and I to share. Speaking of the shrimp cocktail, they were the biggest shrimp I've ever seen! It took at least 3 bites to eat one. We were there for a special occasion. My fiancé proposed to me and the waiter and shift manager did a great job playing along with his tactics. The dessert was delicious, chocolate lava cake. The melted chocolate was gooey and hot. The cake was moist and the over all flavor wasn't too rich. The valets were very curteous and quick to greet us. Our waiter had the valet pull it up whule we were paying so it was ready to go by the time we got outside. The experience was more than expected. It started in the parking lot and ended with our waiter boxing everything up, including re-corking our wine. Flemings has earned 2 repeat customers.

Our absolute favorite restaurant in town. The food is always impeccable and the service is second to none. Truly a first class experience with professional and knowledgable staff. Hands down, the best steaks you'll ever eat.

  • Chris G.

Good food. Not great, but good. Impeccable service. Hideously expensive. As in three people for dinner, one a non-drinker, racked up a bill of more than $300 once the tip was factored in. That included one competently-made martini and three glasses of middling wine, the kind of labels you can pick up at the Piggly Wiggly in River Run. It's a chain restaurant, one that caters to the Expense Account crowd because it's a safe choice. Yet if you're in town for biz, you'll impress your client much more with a far better meal at a Highlands or Hot & Hot or Daniel George or a dozen other local places, and impress your bookkeeper back at the office with a dinner tab of roughly 60-70% of what you'll shell out here. So I'll give it four stars for the food then subtract one because the value equation is so skewed. Side note: Flemings' bar is rumored to be the kind of place where, ahem, professional companionship hangs out. So if you want dinner and a show, watch the bar as out-of-towners dicker with the local talent over their asking price.

As expected everything was great. We had a group of seven with lots of sides and appetizers. Not once did the waiter let our glasses go empty! (tip for manager) Hire Todd from Logan's down the road. Best waiter ever.

First, be aware this is a chain restaurant. To me there is something very "chainy" about it. Everything here is just too contrived. Having said that, the food is good, though overpriced. Good wine selection and they serve the wine at proper temperatures. The steaks are cooked right and have flavor. You can NOT eat here inexpensively. Every time I come here I see the same customer types--it seems most of these folks are business-types entertaining clients. Makes me wonder if Fleming's was designed to exploit the expense account.

Outstanding Food, Service, and Location. This area of Birmingham (Hoover) is 1 of my fav areas in all of Alabama. All the stores and restaurants in this mall area are fantastic.

    (5)
  • Gregory S.

Quality steaks with ample variety: more than 3 ribeyes, 2 NY strips, and filet mignon like butter! Service is good. WinepPad makes selection of wine easy and fun. You can select from 100 wines (modest to extravagant) with the option of seeing exact descriptions (% of blends, taste, etc.) and pairings. Location is at the bottom of the Summit (off beaten path), but the upside is there's always parking and valet as well. Coupons, specials, and survey coupons available most of the time, so pricey bill is usually $25+ off per meal. Enjoy from the appetizer to the desert.

Went for our Anniversary last week and the food and service were fabulous! We had the filet and New York strip, grilled asparagus and the Flemings potatoes. We are going back next week to try out the bar menu!

Upscale atmosphere, great service, and very good food. When one of our steaks was not up to par, the manager actually replaced it with a take home steak, even though the original had been eaten. We would definitely go back, and plan to!

What a fantastic experience this was!!! We had a business meeting with a couple of customers and decided to sit in the main dining area even though our initial intent was simply to have a happy hour. Our server was incredibly accommodating and did a great job of suggesting specific drinks and a way to order appetizers for the group that would make sense. She even took it upon herself to bring us extra sauces that she thought went particularly well with the items we had on our shared plate. The drinks were fantastic! The variety of available wines along with really creative cocktails made this an ideal place to catch up after a long day. We also found the hostess and the valet to be courteous, efficient, and all-around very welcoming. I look forward to returning to this restaurant when I am next in the area. If you decide to go, definitely have the lobster tail appetizer.

Went here for our anniversary dinner. The staff was very courteous & even had a card waiting for us at the table wishing us a happy anniversary. I had the petite filet medium rare that was cooked more medium but was still delicious. My husband had the 12 oz filet medium rare that was cooked to perfection. Overall we had an amazing anniversary dinner. Will return again soon.

I really like Fleming's but every now and then they underwhelm with a plate and tonight was one of those nights. All of the items we ordered were great with the exception of the short ribs and they were so bad I have to take two stars off and that's being kind. Short ribs should not require a knife and in this case a good steak knife still required some muscle to cut it. Shoe leather. Unacceptable for a place like Fleming's. Tuna was outstanding, desserts were great, wine was wonderful. I'll be back but will never order the short ribs again and I suggest you do the same.

Had a great meal. Took my daughter and 4 of my grandchildren out for dinner. Hostess seated us promptly the restaurant was very busy but we had an outstanding waiter(Eliseo) he was extremely accommodating, cordial and efficient . The Steaks were awesome and cooked as ordered. 5 Stars for Flemings!

EVEN A FREE MEAL CAN'T HELP THIS PLACE Where do I start? Over the past several years we have tried to like this place. The food can be generally good, albeit overpriced for what it is. You can go to the finest restaurants in Birmingham, i.e. HIghlands, Cafe DuPont and pay less for 10 times better food and incredible service. My biggest issue here has always been the service. If you are going to charge over $50 for an entree which is completely ala carte, you better have the service to match and this is where they woefully fail. We had previously gone there for Mother's Day Dinner (not brunch) and waited almost an hour from the time our order was taken for food to arrive. During this hour, no one bothered to check on us, fill our water, even acknowledge that there was an issue. When we finally were able to find our server who apparently was hiding, she told us how they had served over 700 meals that deal and the kitchen was just tired. Really.,....you took my reservation and charging me over $50 and entree and that's what you tell me. Needless to say, the manager stepped in and apologized and paid for our dinner and gave us numerous gift certificates to come back. Which brings me to last night. The "free dinner" we planned to use our gift certificates to give it one more shot. It started out ok, but then downhill it went. First, the restaurant was half full at best. 45 minutes went by after our salad and no food. No server checking on us. We had to flag down someone else's server and beg for water since no one even stopped by to refill water. Finally flagged our server down, again who had disappeared for these 45 minutes, who's response was "well the people next to you were here before you and they still hadn't been served". Wow, that's something to be proud of. Finally my filet came out and not only could I not cut through it, but it was filled with grizzle...for $50...really??? I returned it immediately. Another 20 minutes went by with no food, no urgency, nothing. At that point I tracked down the server (again who disappeared) and told her we are done, bring me the check. Sorry I go on so much, but this place needs to really start looking at what they are doing. When you hold yourself out as a fine dining restaurant and charge the highest prices in the city, you better have top notch service for your patrons. My many times I have been here have shown that decent service is a rarity. I am done Flemings. Don't worry, you will never see me again. Even with all my free gift certficiates. This place doesn't even qualify for a free meal.

Another exquisite culinary mouth party. Everything just worked out; I called on the way about 6:20pm asking for a bar table for me and one other. I got an email confirming this reservation as I parked my car. I walk in and sat right down in really busy bar about 6:45pm. That was surprising. As I was away from the table, my companion ordered onion soup for 2. This was much improved, I wouldn't have ordered it after having it before. But, It was good. The Cowboy Steaks were cooked perfectly and really tasty. The sides of creamed spinach and potatoes where also very good. The finish, The cream brûlée was perfect. The waiter(s) service was outstanding. There wine suggestions dead on. The bad news is you have to pay for it. An mean you really pay for it. It never seems to fail they will always bring you a bill to pay before you leave. If only they could stop doing that.
