I work at Innovation Depot, so this is pretty much my go-to for lunch and the occasional breakfast. I haven't had anything there that wasn't tasty. One of my mantras has always been 'eat where the cops eat' and there are plenty there each day picking up food. Sure, you'll pay $10 for a sandwich and side, but that's pretty standard for downtown and parking is easy. Recommendations: chorizo breakfast sandwich, Cuban, sweet potato fries and the buffalo chicken sandwich. Anything on special is usually delish.

Even though Culinard Cafe resembles a generic corporate deli that is open only for the local employees, these sorts of businesses thrive in California so I felt very nostalgic here. They have a breakfast and lunch menu but aren't open for dinner. The service and the design of the place is a fresh breath of air especially in this questionable area. I got the half scoop of chicken salad with a cup of sweet roast corn bisque. The chicken salad was sweet with the right amount of mayonnaise. It complimented well with the crackers. I couldn't finish the soup but it was hot, creamy, and delicious. I wouldn't even ask for bread with this because it would dilute the sweet subtle texture of the soup. Pastries are half off after 3pm. They're also a delight to look at if you don't feel like looking at anything else.

The Culinard overcompensates for poor flavor by dousing everything in cheese, at least in the sandwiches/paninis I've had from here. I'm told the the salads are ok. I've given this place a couple of tries and each time I leave vowing that I won't return. If you're an Innovation Depot tenant looking to get food without driving or walking too far, you're best bet is the Dos Hermanos Taco Truck parked on 14th and 1st.

I agree.....I'm not sure why these people have given this negative reviews and comments. I work at innovation depot, and not only is this sooooo convenient, but the food is great! The pesto panini, buffalo chicken sandwich, and the turkey bacon wrap are AWESOME! Not your normal greased up and hastily made lunch....tastes great, fresh, and the portions are HUGE!! I always take half of the lunch home. Little more expensive than Burger King, but $10 for a great lunch that takes less than 10 minutes to get is worth it.

How this has such a low average rating is beyond me. I've never had anything there that wasn't good. The sweet potato fries, peach tea and white chip blue berry cookie alone is worth 4 stars. It's one of my favorite lunch spots.

The food and customer service is satisfactory. I only ate lunch here two times while I worked at Innovation Depot, and I can say it's not worth coming to unless you work here and need a quick meal.

I work at the depot and will second the notion that a captive audience keeps the place alive. The coffee is bitter and the espresso comes out of some sort of pod dispenser. Lunch sandwiches with "chicken" are mainly bread--the chicken is about the thickness of the bacon, which is rubbery as well. To be fair, sometimes you can catch a decent tasting special. I had a good grilled salmon once. The staff are very fast and friendly.

The food is very formulaic, boring, and way overpriced. They feed off of the captive market of the police department and the Innovation Depot. Also, many times it's quicker to get in car and go somewhere else because they get really backed up at lunch time. They have decent deals on pastries in the afternoon but that's about the only good thing. Also, they very rarely ever allow you to customize anything about your order, and if they do you're always going to get a different price. Steer clear.
