I went here for Sunday brunch. Once with my parents and another time with friends. I loved both times! I got the oatmeal brûlée for the table (you've gotta get it). Then I got the eggs Benedict. The bread was so incredibly fresh and the eggs were poached perfectly. The only negative (if I had to pick one) is that there is a $10 charge for using credit cards. Just bring cash and go to brunch and you won't regret it!

Hidden behind the Little Professor book shop, Crape Myrtle offers a nice breakfast and lunch selection in a warm and casual atmosphere. Traveling through the city, they kindly let us order breakfast after lunch had started. I had the traditional breakfast with excellent scrambled eggs and crispy bacon. My knucklehead daughters had mashed potatoes and red beans and rice. My wife had a croissant with grilled peaches. A great find.

Let me start by saying this café is in the same building as the Little Professor. After circling the block several times, I finally pulled up their website on my phone and figured that out. There's a small sign, but they could definitely benefit from some more visibility. Atmosphere is cute and cozy. A little noisy but not bad. I liked the paper their menus are on, and the coffee cups and saucers are adorbs. Service was fantastic. Friendly without being obtrusive, and my coffee cup was refilled like 9 times. My sweet potato gratin had one or two cold spots, and I'm sure they would have reheated it for me but it was so good I just dug in as is. One of my dining companions was bummed his huevos rancheros only came with one tortilla and only one slice of avocado, but on the other hand I was impressed that when a friend ordered a dish without meat, they said they would add a side of fruit to his meal. I love when I order "no bacon" or "no meat" and get offered something else without having to ask. I usually try to go somewhere more than once before reviewing, but since I was in from out of town I probably won't make it back anytime in the near future, but I would definitely go back the next time I am in the neighborhood!

The menu is really diverse for such a small place and they do a nice job with everything we've ever tried. Their vegetables aren't cooked to death which is huge with me. Nice folks who serve good, fresh food.

My family and I really enjoyed this place. Were from out of town and didnt want to eat at a chain. Kinda hard to find because it shares a building with a bookstore. A hidden gem for sure. Pork Loin awesome as well as the rice and beans and mashed potatoes I chose as sides.

The food is gross and the short man that works the counter is rude to women. He informed one of my friends that she was "ordering too much food to eat". This particular friend has issues with food and is VERY skinny. He continued to roll his eyes and glance at the customers, winking. This only made this line behind us uneasy. When I reported this man to the management, they made excuses regarding his behavior due to his status as an immigrant. I don't care where the dude is from - you do not treat women like crap in this country. The owners made sexist comments regarding women in general. The other patrons voiced their concern to us after witnessing the manner in which my friend was treated. Needless to say, the management gave me a half-ass apology, then continued to make excuses.

A cozy cafe with classically good food. I used to go there nearly every week when I was growing up in Homewood. Now that I live across the country, I catch myself craving their food. On cold days in Portland, I crave their chicken and wild rice soup and a side of green beans stewed with tomatoes more than anything. Additionally, the owners (who are almost always there) couldn't be sweeter people.
