Okay......let's clear this up.....The Costa's in Trussville is closed. This location on Old Springville Road closed for a while but is now reopened. I have always loved this location of Costa's and always found it better than the new-fangled location in Trussville. If you love ribs, then this is your place. Always consistant......big meaty, well cooked ribs with a sauce that is outstanding. Sides are excellent and plentiful. Service is hit and miss but generally the sterotypical, southern waitress who calls you "Honey."

I really enjoy the fact that they have a drive thru as it's usually just me. I'm disabled & some times, more times than not, I'm in pain. Therefore I love the drive thru. I enjoy their Bar B Q chicken sandwiches & fries. The service is friendly & evidently a lot of people love it as much as I do. I always see quite a few cars in the parking lot & I have to get in line @ the drive thru. But I don't mind as the line is never slow. As a matter of fact I'll be going up there in a lil while & get me something for lunch & supper!! :-)

First of all, let me begin by saying that the cooks (and a waitress or two) work their *** off. Needless to say, yes, the building has been there since the dawn of time and yes the owner could update the freakin menu so that the employees don't get cussed out by the demanding customers. The price of the food? NOT the waitress's fault NOR the ladies in the drive thru; THEY DO NOT MAKE THOSE DECISIONS. Okay? Okay. Let's move on.. If you pull your money out of your nasty*** wet bra on a hot summer day, you might get bad service. If you send food back 2+ times because you just can't be pleased despite their efforts, you might get bad service. If you've been greeted, smiled at, waited patiently on, and so forth because the waitress can't pay bills on $3 per hr on a 5-10 hr shift and she's trying to make an extra **** dollar, but all you do as an "adult" is leave a big*** mess and have an attitude that needs serious adjusting, then you might get bad service. Card declined? Stop partying and be financially responsible. Food not to your standards? Cook it yourself; it's cheaper anyway ***hole. Don't like the price? Dude, shut up and go somewhere else. If they're not taking a call-in, it's either a holiday, closing time, or too small of an order to waste time on. Don't call in a freakin pork sandwich that's made in like 2 minutes just to have you show up in, I don't know, maybe never? Or you're just known for not picking up your food.. that too. In response to "Peño W," you were probably a rude, ignorant jack*** that deserved the service you got. Do the world a favor and go play in traffic. Speaking of traffic, if you order through the drive thru, here are some things to think about: Don't mumble, turn off your diesel truck, don't yell into the speaker AFTER you were mumbling, get off the **** phone, and for God sake if you're the person driving then YOU order, not the passenger. Due to the location, trying to hear someone that can't (or won't) speak CLEAR ENGLISH through a drive thru speaker is like trying to hear a whisper at concert. Speak English, not ghetto. Be classy, not sassy. The service you get is based on the attitude you have. Oh, and PORK is PORK and RIBS are RIBS. Know the difference. Have a nice day.

Still doesn't care enough to update menu online and STILL very rude. Act as if you are taking up their time talking to each other and like they don't care for or need my business. Doesn't even rank one star. When you have rude idiots greeting your customers, it doesn't matter how good your food is, you suck. I stay within a block of this wanna be BBQ joint and would rather travel an hour to eat than patronize this joke.

This place is a southern BBQ institution. I've been eating here since the mid '80's. It's still a bit like going back in time. You slow down and your blood pressure drops just walking in the door. This is real smoked BBQ, super tender and flavorful meat, fantastic classic southern sides, and sweet ice tea. Have lunch at Costa's and everyone you meet the rest of the day will know you had BBQ for lunch, they can smell the real smoke on you all day. Sauces are very good, too. You used to be able to get the sauce in several stores around town, not sure if you still can or not but I pick up few bottles and bring them home to Maryland when I see them. There's lot's of good BBQ in the Birmingham area, some old fashion, like Costa's, some fancy new places with no soul. Have the real deal, go to Costa's.

Ate here today. Had a pork sandwich special. (Outside chopped) with fries and tea. The tea was standard southern. The fries were standard crinkle cuts but the sandwich was incredibly good. Plenty of smoke flavor on a very fresh bun with just the right amount of sauce. It's not Jim N' Nicks (but no one else is) but it's also not Jim N' Nicks pricing. I'll be back for cheap lunch regularly. Sandwich, fries and drink were 5.95. A bargain when compared to Jim N' Nicks, Full Moon, etc.

This location is now closed, but these reviews also apply to the Trussville location. Used to be a decent barbecue joint, but now the food is mediocre at best, disgusting at worst, and overpriced. The staff are teenagers that don't care a thing about the customers, and the management are too busy sitting around at the bar making passes at leathery old barflys and buying big screen TVs and cigar humidors (what the hell? it's a barbecue place) to worry about whether or not the customers are satisfied. Pass this place -- eat at the Burger King across the street if you have to.

Costas coastas costas..... oh where do i began....... hmmm........ um....its in a good location!! um the building is red.... umm.....errr.... Okay. Let me stop acting crazy. Okay I ordered a salad with chopped chicken. It was alooooot of food. Goood healthy portions. I also ordered the 1/2 of chicken, dark meat... I got two leg quarters, cole slaw and corn on the cob. The chicken was covered in their famous sauce, but it wasnt hot, they couldve at least fooled me and threw it in the microwave.... I never been inside costas, but I have went inside the building when it was Wing out.(springvilleRoad)Yeah the worker, had on a crazy looking off the shoulder shirt, I was like errr i ordered two c cups breasts, i meant to leg quarters!! The Corn had a little burned spot on it, but maybe thats the new style of cooking corn.. a special touch? the coleslaw was just regular coleslaw. But I would come back for the salad tho!!

This place is very mediocre at best. I especially get annoyed when they charge you $2 for tea and it tastes like water. I would pass on this joint.

Over-priced. . . Salty. . . . Craaaaap waiter. . . I think we only went because someone had coupons *rolls eyes*. . And while we had a party of over 20 people and everyone was in a bad mood (funeral) it was the middle of the day and we were the only 20 people in the place. . I think they could've spared us a second server. My salad was all kinds of wilty. . Just bleh, dude.

Today, my mother & I went to the drive-thru & got 3 pork sandwiches to go. We have always gone to Costas because we found it to be better than any of the other Bar-B-Que places, however, the last two times within the last week it has not been up to standard for Costas. I ordered all 3 bar-b-ques with inside meat & chopped. The cook got the chopped part right but the meat was black because it was outside meat. Mother nor I could eat our sandwich because the meat was so tough so we fed most of it to our dog. When we rolled up to the window, I ask the cashier for some extra sauce & to my surprise she was going to charge 29 cents per 2 oz. cup for the sauce. For 3 small cups for 3 sandwiches would have been 90 cents. I could go & buy a bottle for that. I told her I would not pay for the sauce because I had never been charged for it before & also, I wanted to know what the difference would have been if I had come in & used the sauce in the bottle that they had sitting on the tables. Would they have charged me extra for that? So, what is the difference? She didn't know & neither did the manager know & I still don't know . I did call the manager to tell him about all of this & I found him rather rude & abrupt but he did tell me that when I came back, to ask for him & he would see that my food order was correct & that he would give me a half-price discount on my next purchase. But, you know, this is the second time within a week that Costas has not been good & I don't think I want to go back even for a half off price. Twice is enough.
